During the Snowstorm of 2026, the Giant Food in Crofton, MD truly showed what great customer service looks like. Even with extremely high demand and difficult conditions, the staff worked tirelessly to support the community. By Friday night, the store was nearly empty -- which was completely understandable. This is a Giant Superstore it's huge and sooo much space!!. I was trying to rush in to get some martins dinner rolls that was on sale but the store is so large I didn't have time to get lost and be at work on time at the same time.!!.. but this store has soo many aisles, I LOVE that it has fresh stations/bars (sushi etc) within it. This is the ONLY Giant I know of that has a LEDOS pizza inside!!! Annnd a Starbucks!! Absolutely genius ... I love the cleanliness of everything to the organization and colorfulness of the store. And my biggest thing is ppl are on every cash register and willing to help snd if they don't know where something is they'll ask!!, which is how places should be in general. My local Giant has plenty of parking, pleasant workers that are helpful, and a great selection of items. Aisles are well lit and prices are relatively well-priced. The must-get here is their Fruit Tart Cake. For ~$10, you can't beat this deal! Not into sweets but saw this and tried it with my lartner and we did not regret it one bit. read more

This review is long overdue. A few weeks ago, I stopped into the Crofton Giant. I came across 2 associates (Antonio and Jaron) in the produce section. These 2 young men were awesome. I was shopping for strawberries. They both made sure I selected the best in the bunch and there was a lot to choose from. I realize that neither one had to offer their assistance but they did. This meant a lot to me as a shopper. I automatically felt that Giant valued me as a customer. It was demonstrated through these 2 young men. Thanks Antonio and Jaron for making my shopping experience one of the greatest. On 2/24/25 I went into Crofton giant as I do every day. There is a short, plump AA woman with glasses who works self check out m-f named Nita . In addition to daily groceries I buy a large / bakery cookie. This woman targets me almost daily accusing me of not paying for said cookie , that the register will not allow you to put near the bagging section due to the fact that it might crumble cookies, I have explained to her daily that you cannot lay the cookie on the counter due to possible damage YET she continues to target me. On this date as I was checking out she targeted me AGAIN and stood by my side again . As I rang up the cookie and the screen stated "do not put cookie in bagging area as it may be damaged." I turned to the woman / right up on the side of me and "did you hear that message that you cannot put cookie near bagging area as it might damage " and she looked at me and said "so" I stated that she says something to me daily about this indicating that I didn't pay. She looked me right in the my eyes and "I've never said that" and I said "a lady that looks exactly like you says that to me daily " she rolled her eyes and said "you know we all don't look alike " making a racist statement and when I said something she rolled her rolled her eyes again and shrugged her shoulders. I asked to speak to her manager who did not bother to speak with me, and then I asked for the store manager Felix, who refused to speak with me I was racially targeted by this woman who should be fired for doing so, I contacted corporate who stated that I should hear back within 48 hours, possibly, I will not be treated inappropriately and will contact my lawyer. management please train your staff. today monday oct 6th 2025 i called at 11:03 i pressed 0 for customer service as i had a question about western union. managers the young lady who answered the phone at 11:03 was very rude. i asked if you guys had a western union on site she said yes followed by my very next question of what type of form of payment can i use because the 7 eleven one block from you told me i can only bring cash. the woman caught a major attitude told me can not answer questions about western union then hung up on me!!!!!!! i called back just to ask what time do they close. this is sad ans embarrassing from my local store. i probably make more then she ever will with that attitude read more

Since the move to the "new" location this place is a nightmare. As you enter, the place smells like a pet store. It's VERY off putting. The meat selection is terrible, there is a lot there, but it's factory cut and terrible. The produce section often has moldy product (turn over those cherry Tomatoes!). They rarely have enough staff manning the checkouts and the self checkout is supposedly limited to 25 items. The self checkout also has a weird weight max, we were buying for a party and it WOULD NOT let us add more than 4 coke 12 packs. They took away the "guns" on the self-checkout so you have to lift EVERYTHING multiple times, not very ADA compliant. Staff is OK, but they are clearly mismanaged and stressed. I HATE going there, but it's the closest thing, so from time to time we wind up there thinking it will save time... it rarely does. God I hate this place. SAFEWAY in waugh chapel has similar pricing, WONDERFUL butchers, and a far better selection. It's worth the extra drive time. read more

I switched to the Giant Pharmacy in Crofton after horrible experiences with other pharmacies and it has made a huge difference in my life, since I take many medications and interact with the pharmacy quite frequently. The pharmacy itself is extremely efficient, and there is rarely more than a 2 person line. I used to have to wait in line for roughly 15-30 minutes, and now I rarely even wait 5 minutes. The pharmacy is on top of handling issues such as prior authorizations for me, or explaining what I need to do when a situation arises. They go above and beyond to give me the care I need. The pharmacy is easy to contact via phone, and I use the app which allows me to easily ask for refills, and then they text me to inform me when it is available for pickup. There is an incredibly quick turnaround time for this process. I have even arrived at the last minute a couple times (I felt quite bad about it), but they still helped me, although I'm sure they all just wanted to go home. Most importantly the staff has been phenomenal. They are all super friendly, helpful, patient, and smiley which helps brighten anyone's day. Caitlin, one of the employees however has really, really stuck out to me for going completely out of her way to help me more than once. I can guarantee the staff is very busy but she took the time to talk to the insurance company for over 30 minutes to sort out my situation. I was extremely frustrated by this point, but she managed to save me slightly over $300 dollars with that phone call. I have been incredibly grateful to her ever since, and hope she knows how much I appreciated this. She really went above and beyond. Thank you Giant Pharmacy in Crofton! read more

About three years ago a big supermarket pulled out of Odenton, MD. We've made use of the other supermarkets local to us but we've all be hoping for a chain to fill the empty space... Well along came Giant! Giant Food Stores opened on Dec 10th (or sooner) and the parking lot has been full, full, full. I mean like Overflowing. Everyone in the Odenton, Severn, and Piney Orchard area are thrilled to have a new supermarket at the Odenton Shopping Plaza once again. The store is brightly light and very well stocked. The fruit and veggie counters are overflowing, the deli section has excellent meat brands, and the bakery smells soon yummy when the bread is baking. The seafood section isn't like Wegman's but then again who can compete with Wegman's and their Seafood section. However, the fish, shellfish, and crab legs are all fresh, good looking and taste great. I know as I've purchased the Salmon and the shrimp. The meat section is very well stocked. I was impressed with the Prime Rib roasts, and the NY Strip roasts AND the Lamb selections. I love Lamb and it's hard to find in other stores. Honestly every time I shop at this Crofton giant something is wrong with the food. I bought gluten free potatoes chips and gluten free rolls. On 2 separate occasions. Both were stale and not edible. This has happened before. Giant is literally right across the street from. Me and I won't go there because half the food is bad. I don't have time to stand in line to return it so its money lost. You need to watch this place like a hawk about sale prices, especially soda. At least 7 or 8 times, the advertised price did not ring up for me. Then I need to go to Customer Service and waste 10 min or more to get a refund. Considering the list price for soda is so high, this could be a difference of $20 or more. How many people are they overcharging who don't realize it? Very shady. On the plus side, the store is clean, well stocked, and well staffed. But watch your receipts! read more

Why don't you have the Giant app? Periodically they have promotions for free items and no it's not crap, it's stuff that is worthy of mentioning. The store policy is if an item rings incorrectly, you get that item for free. In other establishments they'll argue with you and get brash but not here. The customer service desk representatives are stellar. Shout out to Donna who goes above and beyond with her customer service. She'll walk the aisles with you to help you find what you're looking for, hop on a register to reduce the number of people waiting in line and also an all around kind person. The store is well maintained and if they run out of an advertised item simply ask for a rain check. Parking is shared with some of the nearby businesses but never to the point its a chore to find parking close by. Why did they move?!? Parking lot is terrible, and people are always driving the wrong way in 1-way herring bone lanes. Entrance and exit are confusing. When you exit near cashiers with your cart you need to traverse the dangerous parking lot to get to your car at the entrance. Registers that look like they have a cashier are sometimes self check when you get up to them. The only redeeming quality is their produce and bakery are good. PROS: * Close to home. * Great prices on sale items, and even further discounts on circular coupons and online offers. * Decent prices on non-sale items, too. * Wonderful produce selection, if not always carrying the exotic and unusual. Still able to find pretty much anything I come in there for. * Great meat department; selection is stellar. Service is even better. * Fresh seafood at reasonable prices, and great deals every week. * Friendly managers, most of the rest of the staff as well. CONS: * Some prices are a bit overboard (i.e. McCann's Irish Oatmeal). * Produce department is not always the cleanest; it's not gross, but there are leaves and such hanging about on the floor sometimes. * Some of the staff (exceptions to the rule) are pretty standoffish, borderline rude. * They've closed the salad bar a half hour before it is scheduled. Put a few of our dinners off because of this, especially when we've called ahead to ensure the salad bar would still be open. OVERALL: I know we were jumping for joy when the Wegman's opened, but the novelty wore off when the bills kept coming in. Sure, they have a huge cheese department and some incredible produce finds, but the prices and sales aren't the best. Giant, though, has a very good selection and some of the best prices around. The great part is, you don't sacrifice on quality as you do with some other discount grocery stores. This is our go-to supermarket, without question. The staff is pretty friendly, the service is sound, the prices are great, and the selection is everything we need and a lot that we don't. Well worth the visit every time. read more

Sells food, low to medium end. Rows and rows of it. Ghetto ambience. Smells bad as soon as one walks in the door. Clusters of workers chatting oblivious to consumers. Employees block aisles, inconvenience consumers, expect consumer to defer to their actions ie pushing carts into oncoming paths expecting consumer to stop. Dreary warehouse atmosphere. Well, this place sure hasn't gotten any better when it comes to customer service. I only shop here because it's close to home and on my side of Rt 3; otherwise, I'd avoid it like the plague. So I wanted to run in today, at 2:00 pm, to grab some salmon for dinner. It wasn't crowded so it should be a quick trip, that is, unless the useless staff behind the seafood counter have anything to do with it. I grabbed some broccoli- less than a minute. Straight back to seafood and - no one at the counter. So I looked in the seafood case for prepackaged salmon, but they only had the 5 oz portions that adds up to $19.98/lb! Forget that, I'll wait. And wait. And wait. I actually started timing it on my iPhone stopwatch. After 10 minutes (from the time I actually started timing it) and still no one. I called the store and was directed to the meat department by, of course, an automated message. Some guy answered and said he was helping someone and would be there as soon as he could. Well, another 8 minutes go by and at this point I'm only staying out of morbid curiosity. Finally, someone shows up and gets me my salmon. No apology for making me wait at least 20 minutes. Par for the course at this store. If Wegmans wasn't such a pain in the ass to get to, Giant would be a distant nightmare. read more

Do not order online to pick up. I ordered on Saturday to pick up between 2:00-3:00. I called just to check and see if I was going to get a text or something. The girl said that I should schedule for the next day because they were running behind. So, OK, I did that. This was inconvenient because I wanted to pick up the food, bring it home, and then head out to dinner with a friend. and then I could cook first thing in the morning. So, my rescheduled time was between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. I got there and called and the girl said is this your order from yesterday and I said "no" was told to reschedule for today. I waited for several minutes and decided to go in and take my own cart to my car. I went through everything and noticed that I got dill chips instead of dill sandwich slices. I want back into the store and the girl in charge of grocery pick up said they probably substituted. I said let's go to the aisle and look. Sure enough, there were plenty of jars of what I wanted. Then I get home and go through everything again, and I got curly parsley instead of flat leaf, Hellman's mayo instead of Dukes, This all took me at 2 times the amount of time and more aggravation than if I had shopped myself! read more

So I went shopping for my wife who is sick. I purchased two boxes of tissue and some filtered water. I went to customer service desk and asked manager to ring me up because I don't support self check outs .She pretended to not hear me and ignore me hoping I would walk away thinking I don't know you can ring up at customer service desk. So I stood there and watched her pretend to look at some clip board and like 80 seconds later she says " may I help you" and I say yes Politely to ring me up again and she gets an attitude! What makes people with manager positions think they are above anyone . Black short lady in her 40s maybe 50s. Working in a grocery store where customer service is number one ! Next time I'm going to video it. Lazy example of a person. Should be reprimanded and put back on the register. read more

There's more organic produce now, and the staff seems more welcoming/friendly. There are kid-sized shopping carts near the entrance (fun!), and there's a scanner that you can use as you shop to save time at check-out. This worked well for us--I brought in my reusable totes and bagged the groceries as I shopped. At the end of the trip, just take the scanner to a cashier, show your Bonus Card, then pay n' go! It was a wonderful day in the neighborhood in Gambrills today. The Giant was spotless and we were greeted by a very friendly female employee who gave us masks. Another employee saw my disability and got a wheel chair cart for me. The store was clean, brightly lit and and the prices were very reasonable with sales thrown in to boot.. This Giant Pharmacy is hands down the worst I've ever dealt with. They said when I switched my RX's to their store, they would send a text when they were ready, Never happen. When I call to get the refill, instead of telling me that they have to order it, they say it will be ready tomorrow evening w/ no explanation. The best was yesterday when they informed me that I didn't have any refills. I called my primary Dr and I actually had 5 refills & my Dr had to call them to let them know what their system should already have on file. Oh and this isn't the 1st time this has happen. Last but not least, I get there today to pickup my seizure medicine which if I don't have, I will have a seizure and the women states she doesn't have a RX for me. Mind you, I just spoke with someone 30 mins before arriving that said the RX would be ready in 15 mins. While she is informing me that she doesn't have my RX, what happens? I have a seizure while waiting and another in the parking lot. Also, when I called today to explain that it's been 2 days of me having to deal with this issue with them, I was rudely cut off by the man on the other end of the phone. Hence, worst customer service ever and the left hand clearly doesn't know what the right is doing. They need extensive training to keep this going. Steer clear of this place!!!! read more

Recently re-modeled, well-stocked, and close to home. Recommended. The deli counter is great - Boar's Head lunch meats are top quality. You can submit your order via the store computer and then do the rest of your shopping. They will call your order out over the loud speaker when it is ready to be picked up. Hello. I have shopped Giant's Grocery Store on Rt. 3 Gambrills/Crofton for many years. I never compared prices, but for whatever reason I noticed a big price difference between Target, Wigman's and Giant. For example, I noticed that a box of liquid Advil was $4 a box cheaper at Target when compared to Giant. I then looked at a variety of other items such as floss, lactate pills, etc. Every time, both Target and Wigman's was lower priced when it came to non-food items. I didn't take the time to check pricing for meats, vegetables, etc. Anyway, I went to Giant's website and sent an inquiry asking them to share some comments as to why the prices were so different. That was over a month ago. I week ago I sent another inquiry, no response. I like to shop at Giant, if they had simply acknowledged my questions and gave a decent response, I may have stuck with them. Not now. I did go to the store and asked Giant's customer service why the prices were so different and the response I received was, "that's not my area, I really don't know what goes on there". Well, I'm sad to say, I shop at Target now. In one trip for a about six or eight items, I saved $12. Giant should have acknowledge my inquiries instead of trying to ignore the obvious. read more

Was our usual store but of all things the PARKING LOT has turned me off - it is in such bad condition that if I try to push a cart with a sleeping baby in her seat, she wakes up crying...so many dips (not potholes exactly, just very abrupt ditches throughout lot) that I couldn't avoid them all and one almost caused half-full cart to tip over onto my older child, who was scraped by sharp metal edge of it while I pulled muscles keeping the cart upright. Crazy. Some better upkeep and I'd be there all the time again. Also, though, improve those self-checkout lanes. Can't stand them, and it's not that I hate tech. Just almost always have some kind of problem, and when I don't, then I'm still bagging while the next person starts checking out and mixes there stuff into mine, apologizes, and continues. read more
