Graul's is a local supermarket chain with two locations in Anne Arundel County. I love the one on Taylor Ave in Annapolis because it has a large selection of grocery, deli, and hot bar items. I love Graul's Market. They really know how to present their products--everything always looks fresh, vibrant, and delicious, especially the vegetables. There's a great variety of items, and their bakery is one of my favorites. The staff is consistently friendly and courteous, and checkout is usually quick, which makes every visit easy. Today I drove from pg county to purchase chicken salad only! I used to work at the Naval Academy and fell in love with the store. But today the service that I received at the deli counter was disgusting! Miss Maddie was overly rude! She was snippy and very sarcastic with her words! Slamming my items on the counter and all!! Then had the audacity to tell me to have a nice day!! I'm old enough to be her mother & I've never been disrespected like that in my life! I understand people have bad days but this young lady should have just stayed home! And the crazy thing is when I complained the workers weren't surprised with her attitude!! I came here today while I was hunting for fresh sourdough bread and Graul's delivered! I was close by so I decided to throw a hail mary and come here in a last ditch effort. I don't normally shop here as it's a little out of the way, but as a local, I've been here before and it's always been kind of the cute, cozy, community grocery store. Yes -- it's a tad more expensive than Safeway because it's local, but they always have a really great selection of local produce, food items, and you can't beat the deli during lunch (the line today wrapped around the deli counter). I was able to find the bread I was looking for and, while I was in the bakery area waiting for my bread to be sliced, I also noticed they had apple cider donuts available (had one for dessert tonight and it was killer). I also took that time to take advantage of their chicken tender meal deal at the deli which also hit the spot -- potato wedges NEED to be a food group. I just wish this grocery store were a little closer to my neighborhood. That said, I now know where to go for my bakery needs when Safeway is slacking or if I want a quick lunch. read more

They included chips and a pickle. Mine was a pit Turkey and cheese sub. With a small bag of Utz chips and pickle. Just $6.99. Graul's Annapolis NEVER disappoints me. I use them for every event that I host. Most recently, I used both their catering and bakery service. My guest could not believe how ripe & juicy the fruit was on the Cheese & Veggie Tray. The Chicken, Shrimp, and Seafood mini sandwiches were delicious too. Everything was good. However, the talk of the evening was the diamond shape cake that I had the bakery make. I showed Tiara my vision and she brought it to life by exceeding my expectations. The cake looked beautiful and it tasted fantastic. Her customer service was excellent. Matter of fact, everyone that assistant me provided great service. I will never have a party and not include Graul's. Oh yeah and the potato and pasta salad was on point too. Usually when I have purchased store made potato salad the potatoes are not fully cooked, but Graul's salads are differently homemade to perfection. I shop at Graul's market frequently. This evening I was in the store looking for poppy seeds. I asked some people behind the deli counter, but no one seemed to know where they were. One woman behind the counter, offered to go look for me, but I told her it wasn't necessary and continued shopping. When I rounded the corner, a smiling face holding poppy seeds greeted me. It was the woman from behind the deli counter, MADDY! She went above and beyond for me and it seems silly, but it made my day. Graul's needs more people like Maddy, kind, helpful, and happy. I consider myself a chicken salad connoisseur of sorts. If it's on the menu, I'm ordering it. I've had chicken salad around the world and needless to say the graul's chicken salad absolutely takes the cake. No questions. It's perfectly shredded like pulled pork style, flawless ratio of mayo (or whatever the other ingredients are) to chicken, and the best part? No bad pieces. You know what you are munching on your chicken salad and you get a tendon or a hard pierce? Nope. Not here. In conclusion, you haven't lived until you've had this heavenly delight. I have eaten it just straight out of the container, but one of my favorite scenarios was on toasted homemade sourdough with a slight bit of mayo topped with S&P. I salivate at the thought. read more

I do like this little market. Big Pluses: +Their house made chicken salad. I was going around and looking for something to eat for lunch. And I stumbled to the deli counter. And I was like... hey could I get a taste of your chicken salad? It looked really good. And then the deli counter guy joked, "You can taste it, but I have to warn you; you're gonna end up buying some." Guess what... he was right. I thought it was quite good. I took it, with some hawaiian bread rolls and made little chicken salad sliders. Now, I think the chicken salad needed just a teeny bit of seasoning, so I ended up sprinkling a little old bay on top of it before I closed the slider top. *DING!* Perfection! I liked it so much that I came back to the market the next day as I was headed over someone's to watch football, and thought it might be the perfect little easy snack to assemble. The first day I also picked up some of Garul's housemade Caesar dressing ( which was thumbs up), and Garul's spinach dip. I think the spinach dip was much heavier on the sourcream/mayo component, so if I got it again, I just would have mixed in a little chopped spinach. But it would have been the perfect base for that. Produce seemed to be pretty fresh. Selection was good, everyone was very helpful, and the cashier was very friendly when I went to check out. Somehow, I lost a grocery bag with 4 items in it. When I arrived home and unloaded, the bag wasn't there. I called immediately but the bag was not found. I went the next day with my receipt and spoke to Jim, the manager. He said since the bag left the store (since they couldn't locate the bag, he assumed it left the store). He refused to replace the 4 items nor did he give a store credit. I asked for both but he wouldn't budge. Any other grocery store would have been move receptive, I am sure. Graul's is great! It's about a 10 minute walk from the Navy-Marine stadium. It was my first time here--but I am sure happy I found this place because my family goes to Annapolis often. We got some potato salad, chicken salad, crackers, garbanzo bean salad from the deli. We also got the seafood chowder from the self-serve soup station, and some saltine crackers. The food--for the most part was good...except the potato salad and chicken salad were pretty bland, so I'd recommend getting some salt and pepper for it. It seems like a small, local owned business--which we love. The place is clean, offers a wide variety of products, and the staff is friendly! I would definitely come back! We were in Town on this past Sunday morning to watch our son pitch for Lafayette vs Navy. We decided to see if we could find a place that could make us sandwiches for our cooler for the ride home and stumbled into Graul's. What a find! Super clean store with a great team of workers at the prepared food section. We had a nice young lady make us Boar's Head grinders as we wanted them and on our way home to CT they tasted just great. I've shopped at Graul's in Annapolis for years and today I decided after a very rude employee made me even more angry than yesterday. I shopped at Grauls on Tuesday and purchased a Cornish game hen package that was Purdue and when I started dinner last evening I opened the package and the hens were spoiled. The smell was awful so I took the package to the dumpster. I just called to let them know that the hens were spoiled and she immediately said bring the hens in for a refund. I told her I tossed them because of the smell and I didn't want that in my fridge. She said nothing they could do. I said seriously for $10.00 dollars you want to lose a long time customer. She didn't care and her attitude was awful. I suggest the management review who answer the phone and correct the issues. This store is overall good...but they need to change how they manage the deli area. The customer service of the deli staff, with the exception of a few of the younger crew, is horrible. The way they treat their customers makes people not want to return. They are rude, slower then a turtle in molasses, seem absolutely miserable to be there, ignore people, and clear out most of their product at least 30 mins before they're supposed to close! Further, every single time I go, almost every customer waiting talks about how awful the service is. This starts at the top. The management needs to address it. read more

My experience is limited to Catering/Deli. That experience was not a good one. A full week before our event (a graduation party for 50 people), I placed a large order for the Party Combination Platter (several of these platters, to serve all) plus a Mediterranean Platter. They asked me to pay over the phone to expedite pickup, so I did. I showed up two hours before the event and within my pickup window. At that point, they began a chaotic process of putting my order together. The meat was fresh, but it was heaped, haphazardly on the trays. Moreover, the trays looked nothing like the ones on the website. The Party Combination Platter did NOT have "our own party rolls." (In fact, this platter did not resemble the one on the website.) Instead, they gave us an assortment of breads and rolls that the clerk selected running up and down the aisle of the store. None of these breads were cut or presented on the tray or remotely resembled the ones from the website. The breads were in the bags off the shelves. When I pointed this out, the clerk impatiently said "that's what we have." Lettuce on the trays was wilted--we removed it before guests arrived. The Mediterranean Platter also looked nothing like the photos on the website. Cheeses and olives were in piles on the platter. NO "roasted red peppers" were provided. No garnish, of any kind was on the platter. The pita bread (pictured on the platter as cut in triangles) was uncut and in the bag from the shelf. The clerk then presented me with a bill for the amount I had already paid and insisted that payment was due. I could not leave until I pulled the credit card statement on my phone to prove that, yes, I had already paid $435 for the stuff they had randomly heaped on the trays. (I was told sorry, but the person who took your payment is not in today and keeps shoddy records.) Hard pass on this place. Go somewhere else. read more

I wish I could give them ZERO stars! When I visit my mother she will grab food from here for my son who is 18 months old. About 9 months ago she bought Gerber baby food and it was EXPIRED by 6 months. This time she grabbed these kids cuisines on 2/1, and I go to make one and they didn't look great, I check the dates....they expired in May 2017 and October 2018!! Graul's has you covered! I originally just thought of it as a local grocery store, but it is much more. If you're having a picnic, Graul's is the place to go! They have KILLER chicken salad sandwiches and have everything from the chicken salad to the bread to the drinks, chips, napkins, etc. Graul's is also great for catering parties. I used them to cater two of my parties (both sized with 40-50 guests) and the food was amazing! I especially enjoyed the crab dip, quesadillas, and cake. I can't say enough good things about the cake. Catering wise, the only difficulty we experienced was having to call each individual department for ordering the sandwiches from the deli vs. the bakery for the cake, but other than that, go to Graul's! read more

Graul's Market is a small chain (I think there are four stores) in Maryland. It's a great grocery. We have a number of choices near Annapolis. Some are horrible (Safeway) and some are pretty good (Giant) and some are hideously expensive (Whole Foods). Graul's falls into the top of the spectrum. Good choices, good value for money, and truly outstanding service. Today we picked up some platters for a gathering at our home. I just got home from a trip and my wife is jammed at work. We picked up the phone and asked Graul's for help. Based on what I sneaked out of the platters in the car on the way home (ha! sssshh!) the Board of the local volunteer group my wife sits on will be pleased. Not only is the food looking and tasting pretty good but the store rustled up someone to carry the heavy bits out to the car for me. Thank you Graul's. I'm a fan. read more

Super expensive and you would think that the service would be above and beyond. It does not. I spent almost $100 and when I got home and tried to call to ask about reheating instructions about one of my $20 purchases. The phone number on the website is switched with the fax number (who even uses a fax anymore??) on the website, it took THREE calls before the person who answered, after laughing about the mixup on the website, transferred me to the correct department. I flip through the colored newspaper ads I receive every week and have always wondered what Graul's was like. Where does the name even come from? Is this a family name? It sure feels like a cute little family grocery store. the produce is neatly stacked in little baskets and everything is neat with some flair. The produce guys were even getting tips from the manager in the aisle. Total hometown style. The salad bar looked a little droopy in the middle of the day and I was disappointed by the higher prices but I guess that's the downside of being small because they can't buy in bulk. I just love this market. I have passed it so many times not even paying attention. When I finally 'discovered' this grocery store I was thrilled. The fresh flowers are lovely and inexpensive. They have an assortment of wine and cheese. The specialty foods counter is always tempting but what keeps me coming back is the chicken salad sandwich at the front deli counter. wonderful little supermarket. We moved close by and this is our primary supermarket for running out and getting the necessities. They have very fresh food, they have a wonderful cheese and fruit section. There is a salad bar you can self serve. There is prepared hot food area you can take home meals. There is the deli with all the cold cuts and salads (tuna/chicken/mac), and there is a bakery section too. Wonderful assortment of foods, I even found a tahini (sesame paste) for a specific recipe here that was difficult to find elsewhere. Drawbacks, small aisles and dark. But if you live in the area, great place for your food needs. It's next to Naval Bagels and Rite aid too.. very convenient! read more
