I never thought I would take the time to write a review on Giant Eagle, but here I am... I have been a GE fan for 20 years. I visit this location weekly, but each visit, I am becoming more and more disenchanted. Recently, they took away one of the express checkouts and added another self checkout line. Typically, I am a fan of self checkouts, but what pisses me off every time is that there are always two employees standing around talking. I get you may not like your job, but you are paid to be there....so work!!! Do something - bag groceries, be available for customer errors, etc. I did not bring my reading glasses and could not read the numbers on my produce. I asked what the code was for my bananas. They seemed "annoyed" that I interrupted their coffee talk. Normally, I do not have issues with the self checkout, but have noticed too many times while an employee just stood there, that I had to push my items, stop checking to bag a few items, and continue with my scanning. When only 30% of your checkouts are employee manned something there is something wrong with your business model. As I was leaving, there is another employee just standing at the door! I don't get it. This is one of the nicer (NON Market District) GE's I have been to. Presentation in produce is ON POINT. Meat department is neat and clean but not much to say past that, it is not a Market District store so it is basic and gets the job done. The staff is friendly and the store is a good size (large) and well maintained. The deli clerks don't give you a look or disappointment when you order shaved meats (a lot more work). They even offer you samples of things while preparing your first order. I got Turkey on this visit (Shaved).. Not the an entire live turkey that has been shaved; that would be weird. ;) Anyway while she is shaving that she said would you like to sample our Munster, it goes with the Turkey real nicely.. I am like hold up.. how do I hit pause... WOW.. Well hell, yes.. yes I would.. So I walk away with a pound of each, and she sold me some potato salad also because who has a turkey sandwich without potato salad. She sucked another 11.00 bucks out of me and I have a few great lunches to thank for it. I don't mind spending the money but sometimes I just don't want to give much thought.. Sell me; it's cool. If I don't want it I know how to say no.. I am tired when I come there, usually towards end of a long week (I am single now) and I like to keep weekends open, not for shopping.. So if you want to think for me and improve my upcoming week.. Well damn go for it. I'm finished with Giant Eagle. Stupidly, i kept trying to shop there and have groceries delivered as I'm home bound. Today, again, they were out of 2 things that i wanted, so far, so i told the shopper to just cancel my order. Every week, without exception i get a "sorry, we're out of"... how they stay in business is beyond me. They have lost my business because it's not just this location. Pretty average grocery store. Nothing exceptional, nothing disappointing. The store is always clean and the staff is friendly. Liquor store has a fairly plain selection, if you need the standard stuff you'll be fine. If you want some higher quality booze, probably not your place. Beer selection is meh at best. Repeated issues with pharmacy. Haven't reviewed them with previous issues when their price compared to GoodRx was more and I've had to waste time transferring my prescription elsewhere, but today I'm annoyed. Called ahead to make sure they had flu and Covid vaccines. She asked what time I'd be in and she said they'd pull the vaccines. I came in at the time I said and I brought all the completed paperwork. I was told it would be half hour wait. Why wouldn't I be told that on the phone? What could possibly take that long to swab my arm with alcohol and stick me? read more

I went to this Giant Eagle yesterday for a handful of items and was reminded that I tell myself every time I leave to stop going to this location. The layout is fine and the place is well lit (inside). The issue I always have is when I need help. Yesterday there were long lines with only 3 or 4 registers open. The bigger issue was there were employees that were just 'hanging out' and talking to each other at the end of the registers not doing anything and did not seem to care that the lines were building up. It is also obvious that there is a lot of deferred maintenance. The floors are dirty, the shelves are a mess and the store generally looks tired. For the prices Giant Eagle charges we should expect a lot more. read more

I'm giving the five stars based on a super-special employee named Cindy. I was having trouble locating handbaskets at the entrance to the store, and this young lady went far above and beyond to locate one for me. She wound up tracking down a whole rack of them far away from the entrance and brought them back for me. And all the while she did it with the kindness that you just don't see very much in our world today. Cindy works at the very front entrance and starts every customer off with a smile that immediately makes you feel comfortable. Giant Eagle, treat this lady right! She's representing you in a way that would make you very proud. read more

Good selection for sure, but, boy, do I hate going here. Even if you go early in the am, like 7:30, expect to wait, which just astounds me. As I told someone there, "know the difference between Giant Eagle and Heinen's? Giant Eagle is run for the convenience of management whereas Heinen's is run for the convenience of their customers. Frankly, if it weren't for "fuel perk's" and the fact it's slightly more conveniently located than Heinen's, I'd never shop here at all. If you have the option, go to the one on Broadview Road in Richfield, just over the county line. It has 1/100 the selection (it's very small) but the people there are nice and they try hard to do a good job. read more

I did not think it possible for me to find the worst laid out store I have ever been in, but I finally have. This place is an absolute disaster! There is no rhyme or reason as to how they put this one together. The liquor store is hidden in the wine section but beer is completely across the store from it. Why? They do have a nice international foods section. As noted by pretty much everyone, the wait here to even do self checkout is 100% unacceptable. I can get in and out of the Acme around the corner in 1/3 the time as this place (and for a whole lot less). read more

I visit this location when I'm in the area visiting family. Like others, I don't understand the store layout at all. The line to checkout is always long. I went at 11pm and I still had to wait.... I don't think I've ever seen a more miserable cashier. I said hi to him...no response at all. Thanked him after scanning my giant eagle card...no response. Also thanked him after each coupon he handed me as they printed off...no response. Thanked him for the change....nothing. Said thank you as I left...and...no response! This guy needs a hug or needs to find a new job and cheer the F up :) read more

I have been going to this store for the past eight years...so I think that qualifies us as expert shoppers at this location. Pros: clean store; meat department staff is nice and helpful. Cons: - wait times for checking out is insane - Not enough open check out lines. They rely way too much on self checkout lines that CONSTANTLY have technical issues. - Staff is nice but lazy. Their could be several people in a line waiting forever, and employees are joking around not jumping in to open a register - Manager is rarely seen when times are busy. As a leader he should be setting the example by jumping in to help...especially during extremely busy times - selection at this location is sub-par - they have no baggers to help push the customers through faster. - Management has allowed elderly people working the registers to be completely on their own...ringing up the goods...bagging them...etc...etc....and the younger employees just stand there and watch. It is embarassing, sad, and infuriating. - Prices are higher than many supermarkets. Overall, management has for too long allowed these issues to linger. I would NOT recommend you shop at this store. Its too bad...the place used to be good about 8 years ago, but we have seen a steady decline over the years. read more

This giant eagle is horrible! It is very hard for me to say that because I love giant eagle stores. However I came across a very rude employee that didn't understand the store's coupon policy. I am an avid couponer and she gave me a hard time about my using coupons. Despite stating the store's coupon policy to her, and explaining how I was within the coupon limit she completely ignored me and walked away to "go talk to her manager". She came back and proceeded to tell me that I could not use my coupons! I was infuriated! I make sure that I do my research on coupons and store policies, however, she seemed determined to prove me wrong. This is the very first time I have EVER been told that I could not use my coupons! Called to ask a question and just got attitude from women on phone. The layout is also weird and just overpriced.

The service was exceptional the manager of attitude towards it to the employee however it was not the expected her to count over 200 jars of baby food I am set aside one of every flavor and let her know I had nine of everything out and let her know i had nine of everything and her manager got pissy with her and said that she need to count them all you know what dude if you like I could take you down the aisle so you can write down everything that I bought or better yet you fucking count them. I am very disappointed in the treatment of the employees no wonder they go through them like water read more

Stopped at my local Giant Eagle to purchase some hamburgers at the meat Dept. Waited in line behind another customer that was being helped. After the customer in front of me was finished the associate that was working behind the counter proceeded to walk away. My wife and I waited thinking he would be back. There was another person behind the counter wrapping meat. Nothing was said to us. After a few minutes the guy came back got some meat out of the case and walked away,saying nothing. After a few minutes nobody came over. The person wrapping continued to ignore us. The other guy came back and ignored us agin. We left. We have never been treated so rudely at a store. Maybe they both hate their jobs stuck behind the meat counter. This is no way to treat customers. I will go out of my way not to return. read more

Regarding the previous Reviewer Alan, I cannot rate this store good or competitive. Fuelperks don't do it for me anymore, since I figured that Giant Eagles prices are much higher, which eats up what you save later on gas. The only sense collecting fuelperks is by buying giftcards. I eat a lot at Subway, McDonald, Pizza Hut, shop at Bed Bat & Beyond and JoAnn, so I buy the giftcards and earn fuelperks. read more

I purchased cod fish from the fresh fish counter Tuesday 12/13/2016. When I opened the package next day, the fish smelled bad. It was spoiled and I could not eat it. I noticed that the price was lower than its normal price. They didn't have a sale sign or reduced for fast sale, so it seems that they just wanted to get red of it soon, unfortunately it was not in a good condition for sale. I wanted to return it back, but the next two days were very bad weathered and I couldn't leave home. I learned that never buy (previously frozen fish) from this store, never again.... read more

I like the convenience of the stores location to my home, but find it to be quite over priced on most grocery items. For example, today I decided to try a Breyers Ice Cream brand called Gelato Indulgence, because I have wanted to for some time. It is a very good ice cream, but at a price of 5.99 for 28.5 ounces, it is way overpriced. I could see a price at about 3.99, but will not buy it again at 5.99 because it is not that good.
