I have been shopping here for years and usually don't have any problems with any employees myself. Until now! There is this young man named Nigel. He tends to cuss very loudly in front of customers. I've noticed his rude behavior in front of customers before but always shrugged it off. But now I am fed up with his careless behavior. As I was walking to my car I saw him hit multiple cars with the shopping carts and not pay it any mind like he didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Thank goodness Giants Grocery store treats its customers with respect and does not create suspicion based on color of its customers. On Friday, 8 December, I attempted to purchase gift cards at the Publix store 1640 Publix Way Stafford, VA 22554 United States Although I had a corporate card, my drivers license, and I offered to retrieve my corporate identification in the car, the store refused to sell me the gift cards because the cashier thought my purchase of gift cards was fishy and William, the manager, thought my actions was suspicious. My Story; Currently I am a Human Resource Manager for a distribution company that likes to acknowledge its employees for good performance by handing out $50 and $100 gift cards. Normally, I send my Human Resources Representatives to purchase the cards at the Publix store in Stafford County. It is important to note that both of these employees are people of color and we usually purchase gift cards ranging from $500-$1000 per transaction. Since I was purchasing over $1500 in gift cards, I thought it probably easier to go to the customer service desk. This way I would not hold up the cashier line. When I approached the customer service desk, I was informed by the cashier that David, the store manager, provided instructions to his team that they were not to sell any more gift cards to my employees or the company in which I work for. The cashier stated that my actions looked fishy. I asked to talk to a store manager and a few minutes later William appeared. I asked William about the stores refusal to sell me gift cards and he commented that he wasn't going to sell me the cards because our consistent purchase of gift cards looked questionable. William then wanted to know why we were buying so many gift cards and I told him it was for our employees so we could pay them. Once again, when I questioned the stores decision not to sell me gift cards, William commented that my actions looks questionable and that the store has a right to refuse service to its customers. Even though I had a corporate card, and my identification with me, that still wasn't good enough for this store to sell me gift cards. When I offered to go out to my car to get my employee badge, William commented that the badge was something that I could've easily had made myself. Once again I challenge their perception that my actions appeared suspicious. I encouraged William to call the Stafford County Sherriff's Department to report my actions as suspicious. William refused. However, William, once again, acknowledged that my actions appeared suspicious and the store has a right to refuse service to its customers. Once again, I encouraged William to call the Stafford County Sherriff's Department to report my suspicious behavior but William refused. I offered to stay so that the Sherriff's department could arrest me for suspicious or fraudulent behavior . Again, william refused to call the Stafford County Sherriff's Department. Finally, William did say he would call the Sherriff office to have me removed from the store. I encourage William to call the Stafford County Sherrif Dept to remove me from the store. At this point, William had that "deer in the headlights" look in his eyes as he was not sure what actions to take. When I asked to get the number to the regional manager, William refuse to provide that information and said I could just leave the store . So, I left the store went to Giants and purchase my gift cards So I'm still a little confused as to why a store would refuse to sell gift cards to someone with a corporate card and two identifications . Furthermore, I can only question if both of my employees, who made previous gift card purchases, would have been Caucasian, would that have made a difference? Was told by the bakery to pring a digital photo in to have a personalized cake. I showed up at 4pm on 9.12.2023 only to be told that the photo needed to be printed. The person working the bakery was not helpful and not willing to do anything other than say she just started and couldn't do anything. Giant is great, most of the time. It is the grocery store I chose to go to most often. They have great deals if you sign up for a membership, which is free. I've never had an issue with the freshness of their produce. I have had an issue with them stocking the shelves. Sometimes I will go in and they'll be low on fruits and vegetables. They offer a good variety of produce, all the basics. Good selection of snacks and also sell things like holiday cards, gift cards, and vitamins. There's pharmacy inside too. I've never used it, but it's their if customers want to pick up medications there. read more

I'm tired of smelling bad fish as soon as I walk in to this Stafford VA Giant location. I visited a few days ago and bought cherries and ice cream, among other items. The cherries were sour and wrinkled, not good, I threw them out. The ice cream cones were Blue Bunny and were on sale, 2 boxes of mini cones for $7 but it was impossible to ascertain that they had thawed out in the store freezer and re-frozen which is why they were on sale. The cone part was soggy and soft and the ice cream had frost bite and was awful. The babes noticed and didn't like it. This Giant is good only if you're in a time crunch but most items are typically old, damaged or sub par. The wine and beer section is decent but Safeway is 2 minutes away has much better prices for beer and wine plus a craft beer section and a walk in cooler read more

Nice supermarket. They have a nice selection. I purchased stuff that I normally would have at Trader Joe's It was more expensive but exciting to be able to get the items. They were the gluten free granola and an appetizer; the Gorgonzola and onion treats. They were obviously not the Trader Joe's brand. The cold cuts were cut perfectly. Just how I like them. And they were boars head brand. The check out was very nice and I did not have to bring my own bags. The only con was the produce selection, more organic would be nice. read more

Worst pharmacy! The pharmacist are lazy and rude. They don't explain anything, and shorted my meds and when I called them out on it and reported them to my dr office they denied it although I had proof. They are not fast, friendly, affordable or convenient. read more

I bought groceries tonight and when I was checking out, I was given an offer with my receipt for two dollars off two magazines. I decided it would be a nice treat for myself, and went back through one of the lines to buy my magazine. The young man that checked me out was extremely rude, rang the magazines up twice, and when I mentioned it, said,"I don't know, I don't know how to do this, take it to another lane or customer service." He tossed it back on the line and turned his back on me. I said can you ask so he called, Byron the customer service person who came and was equally as rude. I have never been treated like that in a store before. They were both dismissive, condescending, and acted like I put them out. This to a customer who was went back through the Linda second timers spend additional monies at their store using an offer their store gave me. Giant is a great local option for groceries. The store is big and seems to have a better selection of produce, groceries, and specialty items. I went to Bloom and couldn't find fish sauce, but Giant had some. Some of the prepared meals look pretty good too. I found the prices to be decent as well. I'm not sure why but groceries in general seem to cost more in Northern Virginia versus Michigan. My only complaint is the lack of available "manned" cash registers, but all of the grocery stores I've been to in Stafford County are like this. At least the lines seem to move faster at Giant. All in all, Giant is worth many visits. Note: you have to have a Giant "card" to get the special deals. You can sign up for one at a register. Visited here for the first time yesterday. They have a good, solid organic / gluten free section right at the front of the store, and I found almost everything I was looking for. It rivaled what I'm used to finding at Ralphs in Los Angeles. Nice to know I won't have to head to the specialty stores on a regular basis and I'm also happy to find something above the discount grocery story level. Interacted with some of the front desk people to get my giant card and they were both helpful and pleasant. read more

I always feel as if I'm watched like a criminal when in self check out like they're waiting for me to steal something. Even at times when there are others in self check out, the focus is on me. Did I do something to warrant this type of unwanted attention? The last time it was painfully obvious because I proceeded to bag my groceries and boom, she's right there over my shoulder watching me bag each and every thing. She even proceeded to make a snarky comment when I double bagged one of my heavier bags that contained beverages by saying "it's not that heavy". It's sad when I'm spending my money and I can't even feel comfortable in my own neighborhood grocery store. I'd give the deli 5 stars because they're always polite and friendly. Seriously every time I come here, which is usually for less than 5 items I wait in line for almost 45 minutes. They never call back up cashiers and the managers don't really care. Is it so hard to see there are over 10 people in line? Get better coverage, I don't care what your payroll hours are, you're obviously using them in the wrong places. read more

This place is awful! The staff is rude as heck! In self check out they talk to you like you're retarded if something doesn't ring up. Had a lady come over and told me "there are cameras everywhere, they're gonna think you're stealing something if it doesn't ring up right" I was like what?! Bakery selection sucks! Had to go in to buy cupcakes they only had 3 packs and in one, all the cupcakes had fallen over and were all messed up. None of the staff ever greet you when you come in or ask if you need help/did you find everything you needed. Will not shop here again! Tighten up Giant! read more
