After spending the day storm prepping my home and my mother's home yesterday afternoon, my last "to do" was to pick up my prescription incase we would be snowed in for days. On my way to the Giant on Ox road I looked up their hours and saw they closed at 6:00. I called this pharmacy at 5:50 PM to explain that I would arrive right at 6:00-6:02 PM and asked, given the imminent ice storm and public safety warnings telling people to stay off the roads for days, whether there was any flexibility to pick up my prescription that evening. The response I received from the female pharmacist was cold, dismissive, and repeatedly reduced to "we close at six, you can pick up your prescription tomorrow at 7AM" without any acknowledgment of the situation, the stress involved, or even basic courtesy. There was no attempt to explain why there was no flexibility, no recognition that severe weather creates real risk and urgency, and no effort to offer alternatives such as transferring the prescription to another location with longer hours or discussing next steps. I was spoken to as though my concern was an inconvenience rather than a reasonable request during an emergency situation. In fact, I was told on the phone that the pharmacy was "already closed" despite it being only 5:50 PM at this point. What made this especially upsetting was the complete absence of empathy. A simple sentence--"I'm really sorry, I understand why this is stressful"--or even honest transparency about system limitations would have changed the entire interaction. Instead, I was met with rigidity and indifference at a moment when compassion matters most. While my prescription was not life-threatening (note, I was at no point asked what my prescription was), this experience was deeply concerning on a moral basis. It's impossible not to think about how devastating this kind of dismissive treatment could be for someone who does need critical medication, especially during severe weather when options are limited. Policies are one thing. Treating people like they don't matter because the clock is about to hit closing time is another. This interaction fell far short of the standard of care and humanity patients should expect. I hope this location reflects on how these situations are handled and improves its approach to patient communication. I wanted to post my review as I'll be starting the trek to pick up my prescription today, despite the iced over roads and VDOTs recommendations to stay home, and tomorrow will be calling my doctor to transfer my prescription to a pharmacy that has the bandwidth to treat their patients with a bit more compassion and empathy. read more

Definitely huge. There's no denying they have just about everything. One of their best looking locations. It can be busy, but this store is well staffed. Also good stocking, as always have enough of sales items. That's important. Lots of parking, and the employees here are super. I'm a single dad, so I of course supplement this with Aldi. Grocery stores have low profit margins, and inflation is affecting everything. The best strategy here is the good sale items, and get fruits and produce elsewhere. The staff tend to be very polite and friendly. The produce, however, is the worst I've ever bought in my life. This location is notorious for selling produce BOGO free at the entrance and it goes bad in a less than a day. The last time I went, the strawberries already had mold on them. I refuse to buy any produce besides green bananas there. During Covid, they have one-way aisles for social distancing: there are tons of moron customers who do not understand what arrows mean....whatever, but when Giant's own employees do not abide by the arrows....what is the point. Sadly, it is the closest grocer near me....so I continue to patronage this store to save me 30 minutes of my life. read more

This is the closest Giant to my home, and its perfect for my family to make a quick grocery run when we simply don't want to make the haul to Costco. It's perfect to get things that we are low on without buying in bulk. They do have some sales on items throughout each week for Giant bonus card members! It is free to get a bonus card, so it wouldn't hurt to get one! They also have revamped and multiplied their self checkout kiosks! It looks amazing and helps reduce the traffic at the checkout lines--or if you're like me and prefer not interacting with other humans, it's a lifesaver This location is pretty clean and is open from 6am-12am Monday- Saturday and from 6am-11pm on Sunday. My brother is OBSESSED with their frosted cookies and my dad loves the selection of ice cream cakes. The customer service and attitude of the cashiers could improve. I've been shopping at this store for 20 years, and have always found the staff to be efficient, friendly and helpful. I visit the store twice a week, on average, and even during the early stages of the pandemic the store seemed to be running safely, with staffers wearing masks, gloves and, recently, face shields for the people doing checkout. I applaud their bravery in showing op for work every day. Unfortunately, despite a mandatory mask regulation inside all Virginia commercial establishments--and contrary to the signs posted at the store entrance that anyone entering must wear a mask--on every visit to the store over the last few weeks I have seen customers walk in without masks. Not only were they not challenged by store staff, they were allowed to check out and leave with their items. I've spoken several times to store staff members about the issue, and the usual reply is "it's not our job to enforce the law, or to turn away people without masks." And yet two of the staff people I spoke with readily admitted that they would "definitely" chase down a shoplifter. This being Virginia, I realize that store staffers may worry that any confrontation might lead to violence, even gunfire. The obvious answer: hire off-duty Fairfax County police officers or private security guards. Until the store starts enforcing the mask rule I will be shopping at Wegmans, and will advise all friends and family to do the same. read more

I love this giant the people and the layout are great. I love how the staff is hardworking. The reason why it's 3 stars though is the deli. They don't know how to slice cheese or meat. I tell the young man every single time and yet he slices the cheese super thin to where it sticks together and it's wreck. I shouldn't have to be telling you how to slice cheese. It's not even edible and this time I'm bringing the cheese back to show him. When you are spending money on a specific cheese you want it cut good so you can eat it and not trash it. read more

I love this Giant! It is always so very clean! Also, the staff is nice and helpful. I'm always able to find what I need when I come here. There's ample parking and never a long wait in line, no matter what time you go. It's never crowded. I also love that they require staff and customers to wear masks during the current pandemic. Finally, they even go so far to ensure open foods, like grapes, are closed and tucked under so it's not easy for people to touch or breathe on them. This review is for the online ordering called Peapod. This is great for parents! You don't have to be bugged for candy at the checkout because you just pull by the Peapods curbside and your order is ready. They are refrigerated too. You don't have to walk around and be seen! I don't have to get all dolled up for croutons anymore. I can stay in my Mountain Dew pajamas! Curbside! Peapod is definitely a great option for those who work by a computer and they have time to shop. Do all your grocery shopping at work and swing by after! Boom! Plus if you're a fatty like me, you won't walk in looking for croutons and walk out with croutons and an Almond freaking Joy. I guess you can go but parking, getting out of my car, then being judged for my pajamas, is certainly not worth an Almond Joy fix. There's still hope for me. read more

I honestly was only going here because it was the closest store to where we live. I am so happy to be vaccinated and will never have to shop in this awful store anymore. The staff are rude, most of the time ignoring mask rules and today, while shopping in the produce aisle one of the guys stocking the refrigerated section literally had two thirds of his butt hanging out of his pants.No underwear on either. Gross. One of their cart guys walks around inside all of the time without a mask on and even after I called to tell the manager about it, he continues to think he's the only one who matters in the world. Most of the time they are out of things like lettuce and lots of vegetables. The tomatoes I like to buy are only stocked some of the time. I can never expect what I'll find.....it's annoying. Not to mention that most for the produce is rotten. I went there for a corned beef a few days before St. Patricks day and they only had three. They were 25 dollars each and probably the fattiest and most disappointing I've ever had. They totally gouged me. Today was really the last straw and what prompted this review. At the check out I accidentally hit the cash back button when the sign said no cash back. The woman at the checkout (#8) got so upset and acted like such an ass I was not only embarrassed for myself, but for her as well. Not sure why she thinks she is able to talk to a customer like that, but I can assure them I will never be back after that. It is especially disturbing because I have had pleasant conversations with her in the past. I told her it was an accident and that I was sorry and she continued to scream at me and make a big scene. The manager there seems to have absolutely no control over the staff there, and they obviously hate their customers. And in past conversations with this particular woman at the check out she has told me that they are told to ignore people not wearing face masks. So it is clear that this company only cares about getting money and very little about protecting the health of their customers. Thank God I'll be heading back to Wegmans where its more pleasant and the staff treats their customers with a little care and respect. read more

They are overpriced for the most part but if you shop the sale items you can get some decent deals. That said, WATCH THE REGISTER or be sure to check your receipt--the first two times I went there were mistakes. Technically it was tricky ads or misplaced stickers (like 6 flavors of pork loin but only one was B1G1 though I would have bet my life that the sign said all, or B1G2 English muffins on two of the three options, even though I know the sticker said all). THAT SAID, customer service always handled my issues with courtesy and helpfulness. I have been extremely disappointed with my neighborhood Giant. Although I have complained twice in writing to corporate and several times to managers at the store, I have never received a reply. Accordingly, I will do the next best thing and warn their customers. In my humble opinion, Giant inflates their wine prices so that they can then substantially discount those prices, sometimes as much as half off. Case in point, I bought two bottles of wine at Wegman's last week for $ 8.99 each, regular price. At Giant that same day, the "regular" price for each wine was $ 16.99 and the "sale" price was $ 8.99. This has happened over and over again at Giant. Beware of the prices so you are not duped. Use an app called Vivino which will star-rate wines and give you average retail prices. Buyer beware. Had Giant personnel replied to my original complaint a year ago, this Yelp review would never have materialized. Shop Wegman's or Costco for wine. read more

I normally shop at this store. We are currently renovating a house in Occoquan. For some reason I don't remember right now, I checked out Giant's website and discovered they are partnered with Peapod to provide home delivery service. I tried it out. Couldn't be happier!!! Dude showed up 10 minutes EARLY on Sunday, everything I ordered was unexpired and accounted for, and the driver was extremely pleasant. If you are in a similar position as me: stopping the work I'm doing to clean up good enough to go in public, then you might want to give this service a shot. I stocked up on large quantities of stupid stuff that you always run out of the soonest: bottled drinks of all kinds, toilet paper, paper towels, sandwich meat, creamer, etc. I found it wonderful to have someone bring it to my house!!! I also thought the fee ($7-$9) was incredibly reasonable. Really. I would pay $9, or whatever, all day long to have this kind of stuff delivered, especially right now!!! Seriously consider this service if you are currently going through the hell of remodeling your house right now-like we are!!! Cheers! read more

I come almost every week to do my groceries, but what I mainly come for is that rotisserie chicken, the employees are nice and welcoming always greeting me saying "hi how's your day", it just gives you a welcoming feeling after a long stressful day of work. This is my go to grocery store . I literally pass 3 other grocery stores a Walmart and target on my way to this location from my house but I prefer giant . I like how the store is laid out. Everything that I need I can typically find here. The staff is friendly at this location . They have really good hours and I never feel like they were understaffed . My only complaint would be that sometimes things are pricey compared to other grocery stores especially in the produce department . I also think this location specifically could do a better job lighting the parking lot . When your leaving the store at night it can be dark. read more

OK salad bar. Shelves are usually fully stocked and the store is clean. As for being overpriced as was suggested in another review, some products are and some are not. But to imply Wegman's is cheaper is not accurate. I will say that Wegman's has a far better selection though (and a price tag that goes with it). read more

The produce in this store is not fresh - several times i've gotten baby carrots and there have been rotten ones in the bag. The organic lettuce in the plastic clam shells always start major rot the next day - and sometimes I buy it in the afternoon and that night for dinner I have to pick out the rotted leaves. Their doughnuts have roaches, their poultry is "foul" and you better count your pills if you use their pharmacy. Took a box of assorted "fresh" doughnuts home and when opened at the house (15 minutes later) was greeted by scurrying cockroaches in the box. On two occasions brought home their fowl (one a Thanksgiving Turkey) and when opened - was hit with a smell that would gag a maggot, and beware the Farsi-speaking pharmacist. This grocery store is alright with their pricing and their sales, but the service is horrible. One day I went in during the day on a weekend, the place was busy so the lines were understandably long. However, there was only 2 cash registers open along with the four self-checkout lines. When a manager/supervisor called up backup a girl walked up to the front yelling that she was almost done with her aisle and that her shift was almost over so she wasn't jumping on register. After that rude employee went back to her aisle without punishment or being put on register, and says "man, she is getting on my nerves today". The manager calls up another employee, but the new girl comes up yelling about the same things! She does get a register though, but she was very moody and was slamming the products into customer's bags. Overall it took about 20 minutes to get through the lines, I never want to have to deal with employees at this store. They are not helpful and have very bad attitudes. read more
