I applied for a part-time cashier position, and with all my availability and meeting all requirements, I received an email from Wegmans stating that I was not selected for the position. Last week, I was surprised because I had the same interview, and I accidentally deleted my second interview email, which I received on Friday evening. Because email only allows you 24 hours to respond, I had to go through the entire process again. On my second turn, with similar availability and answering similar questions and qualifying for every requirement the position requires, I did not even make it to the second email. While driving through Alexandria, we stopped to grab some snacks, a few essentials, and lunch--and we were blown away by this grocery store. It was massive, with friendly customer service and an incredible selection. The prepared food section and deli were top-notch, and the dessert assortment was impressive. We couldn't leave without trying their famous cookies and other tempting treats. This place felt like Whole Foods on steroids. I just wish we had one of these in California! read more

Parking can be a nightmare. Yet I like this Wegmans and the chain. Never due to bad economic times, has this company laid off an employee. They also empower their folks, to make on the spot decisions, which is probably good for morale. No need to go through delays, layers of management. Do I wish I could afford their niche type of food aisle? Sure but can't win them all. The main section of the store is solid. Extremely nice fruits and vegetables area. Also have to say good variety of meats, snacks, and assorted other foods and supplies. They in this area are fairly competitive, and am grateful for this. I've been a Wgmans customer since I went to school in Upstate New York and have always been very satisfied with their products. Last night I purchased, among other things, a large package of skinless, boneless chicken breasts last night at the Wegmans on Hilltop Village in Alexandria, VA and in cutting it up today I found bones in 4 of the 6 breasts. Also they were not trimmed very well as there was a lot of connective tissue and fat left on the product. First time here - Fancy, Expensive, Yet Lovely...Usually Whole Foods is the only upscale grocery store that comes to my mind until I went to Wegmans for the first time. There were some hard to find items that I have not been able to find in Wegmans that I can't find in any of the grocery stores here: Lapsang Souchong Tea, Chamois pepper sauce for fruit, and Hing for seasoning my mung beans. Yet I was impressed by the well displayed fruits, meals, and kitchen/ dining ware. The wine & beer section was very impressive. I got an Australian wine and a Grateful Dead Cabernet. I wanted to buy more wine despite I have stopped drinking until the holidays, yet I know where to get a good priced wine from New Zealand, France, or Australia. Wegmans Veggie chip snacks (24 bags for $12) and baked chips in small bags were a steal. A bag of pears for $5-$6. 12 packs of Asian seaweed snacks for $7.99. Everything I purchased was an affordable deal despite the store having mostly high priced expensive items. I was tempted to buy a fruit or cheese appetizer platter until I saw the price was $22 or more. $6.99 for jumbo juicy blueberries was a pass too. Wegman snack & food products and high quality wines from foreign countries at very affordable prices are the reasons why I will come back to this store. The Wegman shopping card membership is free and scores you reduced prices on their products. You don't need a card to access it - just sign up for it at customer service. They have reusable shopping bags for 99 cents. Their grocery carts have drink holders too - a big plus. read more

This Wegmans location is located off of Telegraph Road and Hilltop Village Center Drive. There are ample of parking spaces and signs indicating curbside pickup locations for convenience. Upon entering the grocery store, you walk into the fresh produce section with the food court/bakery on the left and the wine/beer section on the far right. Clear signs everywhere to make it easier to find what you need. Although we came early morning around 8am, I was surprised to see it bustling (perhaps it might have to do with an upcoming holiday and this was my first visit here). We walked around, exploring all their products and was surprised by a number of things: it's clean, well-stocked, wide aisles, and friendly/courteous customer service. It truly feels like a cross between Whole Foods and Trader Joes--great quality food/products with the affordable prices. Even the baked goods and prepared foods were all fresh. When it came to checking out, there was never any line at any checkout station. There were many lanes open with friendly cashiers waiting to check out customers. Self-checkout kiosks we're also open and available. We signed up for their rewards program. They no longer provide the physical cards, but you may use the phone number you use to sign up. There is the convenience to utilize their app to make shopping experience efficient, as well. Restrooms were surprisingly spacious and clean. We just discovered this location and are really excited it's not too far from us. This is definitely our new go-to grocery store. We look forward to exploring more and more things to love our local Wegmans. We highly recommend! read more

I purchased a watermelon from the Wegmans in Kingstowne, and when I got home and cut it open, the entire inside was rotten. It looked like it had been dropped during shipping. I brought it back to the store and spoke with a front-end manager at customer service. Instead of an apology or any effort to make things right, he told me-- in a condescending, matter-of-fact tone -- that "once you take perishable fruit outside of the store, you own it." He said that's Wegmans policy, then immediately turned to help the next customer. I find this response frustrating, especially since just last year my wife and I returned a bad watermelon to this same store with no issues. Not sure what the "real" policy is, but this experience makes it clear to me that customer satisfaction isn't their priority. This will be the last time I shop at Wegmans. It's disappointing to see a company disregard the lifetime value of a loyal family customer over something so small and easily fixed. read more

Just got to the wegmans Hilltop drive in Alexandria VA (the night of 2/23/2023) The store personnel locked the door 5 minutes early at 11:55 literally as they saw myself and another person walking up to the door. I wasn't coming in to shop for thanksgiving dinner, I just wanted a water and a cookie, which would have taken all of 3 mins total in and out. To boot, the manager locking the door clearly saw me at the door at 11:55 pm and the wegmans security guard. The security guard knocked and said she was security and needed to come in. Someone came to the door and just looked right at her and walked away. If you say you close at 12, 12:00 is 12:00, not 11:55. Bad ethics on the part of the manager and all of her staff working tonight. read more

In the 5 years I have been using this Pharmacy, I have really needed them one time, and they did not perform. If they do not have your prescription in stock, they tell you to go find it somewhere else, unless you push them to do their job and check with other Wegmans stores in the area. And, they have their own duplicative bureaucratic process to circle back with your doctor so they can make sure it is REALLY ok to fill the prescription the doctor has already authorized them to fill. The store itself is quite nice and a great place to shop. But any CVS in the area does a better job than this pharmacy. read more

My husband and I visited this location on a Friday afternoon around 4:00pm and it was pretty full of customers. Thankfully the sourdough bread had recently come out of the oven and ermagherd it was still warm. It is by far the most superior fresh sourdough bread in the area. (We moved from Alabama where we bought our sourdough from Publix and even *this* is superior.) The prices are certainly higher here and their deals, compared to Food Lion and Aldi, aren't really that great. Definitely paying for the Wegman's brand. I was inspecting Jumbo Blueberries ($6.99) per pint. I was approached by an employee who stated I was not allowed to do so. There are no signs saying stating such policy. I am aware of the high prices for 99.9% of Wegmans products, I have no problem (paying) spending money on top quality products, I will however inspect what I'm buying to insure freshness. I decided to leave store and shop at a Wegmans competitor. I found the exact same product & same price. To my delight I was given the ability to inspect before purchasing. I also found the exact same Dog food (fresh pet) for $6.99 per bag, 0.30 cheaper per bag. I purchase 3-4 bags per week. Long story short. SAVE YOUR MONEY! Especially during inflationary times. Picked up our catering order for Thanksgiving yesterday and not at all impressed with the service. It starts with the email receipt and directions given which says to park at the left of the building at curbside pickup and follow the directions on the sign to call them. Made absolutely no sense. Arrived about 10 minutes early for our 8:00 am appointment. Seems they were just getting started and nobody really knew anything. Someone did show up and we proceeded to get in line. It's now past 8:00 am and we're still waiting for the workers to show up, as two big pallets of boxes are delivered to the area. Finally the workers arrive, clearly confused, one of them says something about nobody showed up, looks like they're training another person. They ask us to stand in spot #1 which is in front of a passage way. Of course we're asked to move several times as someone comes through. I just don't get it. What ever happened to the concept of everybody trained, in their place, ready to work at the start time?! I stopped going to Wegmans on the way to work to pick up doughnuts for the office because of this. They open at 6:00 am where I work, at 6:30 am you go in and no doughnuts out for sale! read more
