I go here once in a blue moon. There are usually two occasions that bring me to Giant -- a search for unique limited edition Oreos, or if I've run out of sugar free chocolate syrup... my other usual stores that have it, and I'm not always in the mood for extra sweet syrup with my ice cream. I usually have a pretty easy time locating what I need, and then I go to the self-checkout line and I'm on my way. This Giant is part of a much larger plaza that has plenty of parking, so that is never an issue. Holiday season is upon us, so I'm willing to bet there might be a wait in those lines depending on when I go! read more

Shame shame shame! I bought this bread today and this bread is awful and looks like it was made two days ago and they stuck a sticker with todays date on it. WTF! Do better with these bakeries Giant!! It's the same in Greenbelt and Largo. Disgusting!! So tired of wasting my damn money!!! read more

In the past I have been less than positive about the Lanham Giant. However, this morning my daughter and her baby went shopping there. When she got to the self checkout she had difficulty choosing the correct produce. A young man stepped in and helped her. He made the experience very positive and very likely saved her some money. I think it's very important to share all the experiences both positive and negative. It goes to show us once more that our entire experience can come down to just one person. Overall, this store is great, but I did notice some unprofessional behavior from staff. The older lady at the flower station and the older lady at customer service should be more mindful when discussing customers in public areas. Additionally, if line guidance were better at customer service, people wouldn't end up standing in front of her station--since that seems to be such a big issue for her. As employees working with the general public, a higher level of professionalism is expected. read more

This Giant is located on my way to work and as l had run out of my fav Yoplait Greek 100 Whips!, l was in desperate need to make this pit stop on my way in. As the store opened at 6am, l was walking through the door at 6:05. So glad it opened ON TIME as we all know of those stores that have you waiting at the door far past their opening time (eyes rolling) while they are staring at you FROM the inside (geesh!) There were only two other shoppers that l noticed in the store, which was good for me as l scooped up a couple of my beloved yogurts and headed straight to checkout before they even had a chance to swerve their carts around and head in that direction. The lady at the register was pleasant at such an early time (some folks are NOT morning persons) and scanned and rang my stuff up faster than a fly on....you get what l mean. The store was clean (even the restroom as l had to make a pit stop there as well) and well stocked. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. In the future, if l need things with the quickness on my way to work, l will stop at this Giant. read more

This is the closest most convenient grocery store by my house. I come here for the convenience. It's definitely more pricey than Walmart so I try to limit what I buy. Sometimes they have great sales that are worth it. I also like this location because they carry African bread that's usually fresh. However, these past 2 wks I've come here the produce has not been fresh. Today ALL the red onions were bad. They were old and sticky. The red bell peppers were also going bad, all were wrinkly and old. The bagged spinach had expiration dates of today or 2 days ago. I was just so disappointed with my trip here today. Update: I really hate when I have to come here. The produce is either rotten or way too hard so you have to wait several days for it to ripe. With Giants, I've come to expect clean, stocked and well staffed. This one was as expected. Except this time of night, I was pleased to see no lines and 6 empty self checkout lanes. I grabbed my one item and to the 1st of six and checked out. To my surprise my one item was quickly bagged and was waiting for me once I finished fumbling with my money. Like an elf, he bagged my 1 item and was gone to his next task. Thanks I said as I passed. Thanks for making my visit a little nicer. It's the little things that make the biggest difference. If this Giant wasn't so close to where I lived I wouldn't bother. It's OK but really nothing to write home about and it really looks a little long in the tooth, if you ask me. Limited selection of some of the things I would like to buy. The salad bar is pretty sad. Staff at the deli counter is sometimes very helpful. Sometimes not. The pharmacy is always packed to the walls with lines and slow, slow, slow service. The only upside is that it's close. read more

Look I am a coupon fanatic and I like my grocery stores the way I like them. This Giant is probably one of the most boring ones I have been in. I am not looking for "Carnival" in New Orleans but I guess I feel that suburban grocery stores should have more. I felt like they had 1/2 the stuff that a usual Giant had. I will give it points for the very nice frozen food manager who helped me find Gluten Free Frozen items for my husband. They have nice cashiers but there's something wrong with the stock clerks. Where is management? walking the aisles is like an obstetrical because of all the pallets and carts in the middle. When I try to pass, the stock clerks act like I'm interfering with their work and getting in their way. Also, Shoppers is a better American owned store. This Giant location is conveniently located to my residence. The store's representatives are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and always willing to assist. The store is well stocked and I consider it my go to store for a quick trip for the basics; I.e., milk, bread, eggs, orange juice, etc. Advertised specials are always available with an adequate selection. I have shopped here for over 15 years and plan to continue. read more

Just had the Hoppers Crabs sponsored by Giant in Lanham, Md. They were the worst crabs. Very light weight, no meat. I was charged for #1s but the quality was not even number 2s. Will never buy again from the Hoppers Crab truck. Very disappointed!!! read more

This grocery store is a 4.5 miles from my house, I come here because it is very convenient to shop. Just about everything you want in specialty foods and full selection of everyday products; excellent bakery and everything is priced right for a good value. Store environment is modern fresh and a pleasant place to shop. Excellent customer service reps. Everything is always clean and organized. read more

I go to this Giant location almost every week and am always in and out quickly. I almost always use the self-checkout lanes and most times there is no waiting to checkout. If there is any issue while checking out, the clerks are right on top of it so you don't have to wait forever for help. They are also pretty quick at helping you bag your items, even in the self-checkout lanes. Everyone there that I have encountered is very friendly and the store is always clean. Even though I live closer to a Safeway, I prefer going to this Giant because its not very crowded usually and they have all the items that I like to buy each week. read more

I really hate what Giant has done to check out lines. They took out the conveyor belts and put in those merry go round bag holders and apparently checkers aren't supposed to put grocery bags in the customer's cart anymore. The checker got everything all piled up and was standing there, apparently waiting for something and I asked her if the new set up was supposed to be helpful and she said it wasn't, not that it was designed not the be helpful I guess. The conversation finally went in the direction where she said I was supposed to put the bags in my own cart and that's what she was waiting for, to clear the check stand up enough that she could continue bagging. I deliberately don't use self service checkout lines, so why should I have to put the bags in my own cart just so she can continue checking me out? It was an unnecessary delay in the checkout process for her to wait on me, and I didn't even know she was waiting on me. Dumb idea Giant Food. I have been going to this a Giant ever since it open, which i would say 15 years at least. It unfortunately continues to go down hill. I believe it is due poor management. My observations are they are discontinuing many favorites, just recently they stop carrying the season fresh chicken at the fresh meat counter. The hot food bar workers are not always pleasant. In fact yesterday, the woman who was cooking the hot fish was down right rude. Several weeks ago, I went to purchase lump crab meat, when I asked the woman behind the fish counter where the lump crab meat was, she said I have to get it for you cause if we keep it out, it gets stolen! On a positive note the cashier still pretty pleasant, but even them I hear complaining about their work conditions. Again poor management, we deserve better. read more

I have had several problems with this Giant store. And I don't write this to be mean, but I have talked to the store management several times as well as calling the corporate number. The salad bar was terrible, horrible. If you're not there by 12pm, no one handles the Salad bar or hot bar. I have video taped whole trays of lettuce and condiments empty and salad dressing bottles with not a drop of dressing laying across the salad bar. Hot bar looked like no one stirred any of the macaroni and cheese or flipped the ribs over the hours. People took a glance and just turned away. Now Giant did say they would attempt to make it better, but they also said it twice before then start getting lazy again. The salad bar at Giant Campus Way in Largo MD salad bar always to looking decent, I have made some epic salad there. Giant in Lanham you're the only real food store covering that area, you should be better than the rest. Or I'm going to just start going to Wegman's. read more
