The absolute Turd Ferguson of chain grocery stores. They * you coming and going! The location I visited is the one in this review, but most of the problems are probably due to "corporate policy", which is corporate speak for, we're going to copulate you using a steel brush up your @$$. So I'm in the store, see a discount for watermelon (and bacon and some other things), but you have to 'clip it' electronically, which is already a royal pisser for me: why can't they just discount it automatically at checkout! I mean, I'm already a G*******ed member of their stupid club. But no, let's sit around the G*d store with our stupid phone in our hand while we shop, because that's SOOOOOOO easy and convenient. Try to login, it doesn't take my account information on the app. Why was my app/account logged out in the first place? I confirm my credentials with my password saver, they're correct, but it won't log me in. Seems I'm getting the steel brush treatment right now. Over in produce, prices are by the pound....great, where's the scales because I need two pounds of something. Guess what, no scales anywhere in the Produce section! Now the steel brush is oscillating. I have to heft and guess two pounds. What the hell kind of store sells by weight and doesn't all you to weigh the produce? This kind, apparently. Get my stuff, go to the checkout and argue with the cashier (and it's not her fault, but she has to follow 'policy') to try to get the discounts for the select items without being able to log in on my phone. Manager holds up the line for everyone else for 5 or 10 minutes while dancing some sort of Giant-cultural-religious-liturgical dance before they can actually honor the coupons. Leave, go home: Login on my computer to giantfood.com, using my usual credentials ... you know, the ones that don't work on my mobile phone ... and it logs right on in. WHAT THE ACTUAL F?!! I send a password reset from my mobile phone, thinking I'll fix it, change the password on both the phone and the computer and it will clean it up..... but, the final turd in the punch bowl: Email comes back saying I don't have an account with them. After visiting Urgent Care this past weekend, I was on the hunt for a pharmacy that could fill a prescription and although my normal Giant is in Ashburn Village saw the one in Cascades and called the pharmacy to check on availability. Very quick response and positive and so went into the pharmacy and although only staffed by 2 (including the pharmacist) my prescription was quickly filled. Very courteous and efficient. As a new resident of Virginia Potomac Falls area visiting this Giant location is the worst experience for me. The manage selafa provides poor customer service. Every time I have had trouble looking for something he entails he cannot assist because he doesn't put the products. Today I had another encounter with him , he stopped a lady from checking my items out because it was at the customer service counter rather than the regular line. This employee makes my customer service experience horrible every time I visit this location. This is a repetitive experienced when he is present. I am so disappointed in the customer service . How could you employ someone with such lack and it's christmas. So distasteful. Do better Giant. read more

Deli needs to pick out bones and cartilage from chicken salad. Dangerous choking hazard. Would have never seen them in a sandwich and am lucky I was using a fork. Store is otherwise clean and employees helpful and friendly. read more

Update: now I'm having to pay full price for the medication because they refuse to take my GoodRx coupon for this. I'm never using this pharmacy again. I cannot express how irritated I am with this giant pharmacy. I have never had problems before, but trying to get antibiotics for my puppy here is a nightmare. First, they claimed they never got the fax from my vet. Then, when my vet had to leave a voicemail, I had to call and tell them to check their voicemail. Once they finally got the prescription from the vet, they then told me they had to order the medication because they did not have the specific kind in stock. That's fine because it would come in the next day. Now I get to the giant pharmacy later in the day because their shipment was late, and when I tell a woman working in the pharmacy that I'm here to pick up my prescription and give all the info, she straight away tells me they don't have it, that they tried to call me (I have no record of them calling me), and that they'd have to order it and it would be here on MONDAY because it's a Friday.... She didn't even check with anyone about this that was actually here yesterday. I ended up getting back in line and telling her that I was confused because I was told last night that they were ordering the prescription so that it would be here today... "Oh I'm so sorry! I wasn't here so I had no idea they had already ordered it!"..... are you kidding me!?!?!? All you had to do was ask someone or look it up! Now I'm having to wait even longer because the prescription isn't actually ready. I don't think I'm ever coming back to this pharmacy again because I don't have time for this incompetence. read more

I've been to this Giant sporadically for quite a while, and again I'm surprised I hadn't reviewed this one. I will preface by saying that Giant isn't my main grocery store, but I do stop in from time to time especially when I need to get a few extra items to complete making dinner. This store is generally well stocked, although I generally only end up buying a few items I'm of the rare breed who actually enjoys grocery shopping and looking through the aisles. I know I'm weird. The store is clean, easy to navigate. The other plus about this location they have self-check out. I knocked off one star because getting in and out of here can be a challenge. read more

This Giant is pretty decent. It has plenty of self check out lanes that making checkout faster. Produce is a hit or miss. I prefer shopping at other places for produce but sometimes I'll grab some organic bananas here or a couple bunches of cilantro, which is pretty clean and has less dirt then some other places. Pharmacy is pretty nice. It's organized and efficient and quick. When you drop off a prescription, you get a number. A LED screen near the ceiling will flash your # when your order is ready. My favorite thing in this store is a small department by the produce section that is devoted to allergy friendly foods, as well as organic foods. This is the only store I have found here that has a decent selection of dairy free, egg free, nut free cookies, pasta, and ice cream. I am thrilled that I can come here and make one stop to pick up all the snacks my allergy sensitive toddler likes. Now when his older brother eats an Oreo, my young toddler can also have his own egg free, nut free, diary free version of 'Oreo' too because this Giant has it! They also have Earth's Best organic baby jars too which are usually on sale and cheaper then Baby R US recent price hike of this product. Great store! read more

I didn't do inside but I did use the Redbox kiosk. It should be noted that the kiosks are outside. This is great because I don't have to fight people inside the store. I only need to find a spot in the parking lot and that wasn't much of a challenge on a later Saturday afternoon. I have never been a huge Giant fan because the prices are normally higher than most local grocery stores so I probably wouldn't stop to buy anything here if I was in the area again. read more

Came here about 2 mins after it closed to buy water for Hurricane Florence. As I was walking up to the door, an old white man with glasses walked out who worked there and goes "Where u goin buddy?, we're closed." I told him I needed water for the hurricane and everywhere else was out. He mumbled something but I couldn't make it out. It seemed like he was cursing under his breath. Either way, I could tell it was meant to be rude by the tone. I gave him a confused look of silence and he proceeded to say I should go to Walmart. I asked where the closest Walmart was. This is our regular typical grocery store pharmacy. The hours are reasonably convenient. The attendents are polite. Generic anti-biotics are given free. Generic prescriptions are $9.99 for 90 days. The record keeping is less than impressive however. In the last year, I've had two annual monthly prescriptions continually get out of sych despite them being written, submitted and refilled at the same times. Attempts to get these elements corrected have fallen on deaf ears with avowals that there was no mistake and I just need to contact my doctor. It's convenient but I'm becoming convinced that mail order pharmacies are better for recurring prescriptions. read more

We used to frequent Cascades Giant for years until they were bought about by another company (new logo time). Now, we shop at Wegman's down the road because the produce and prices are consistently better than Giant. The produce department at Giant has significantly gone downhill. I rarely even find a zucchini from Giant that I would serve to my family. Prices are high all across the board. The cashiers are usually young and don't have any urgency or pride in their job. The positive of the store is the pharmacy. All of the employees have worked there for years and they always remember our names, very helpful and the generic antibiotic cost is just $3. read more

Meh. I am at this Giant all of the time because it close to my house. The service is awful. The produce is sometimes moldy. I don't blame the cashiers though- it's the management who is at fault because they never have enough people working. You can forget about anyone offering to help you with 2 exceptions: the butcher is very nice and the Hispanic gentleman in produce dept is very helpful. The other produce guys won't even get out of your way when they are restocking. Sheesh. On a positive note, the store is clean and they keep the outside very tidy. read more

Very rude from a customer service manager on Christmas Day. I walk in the giant store for grocery and this lady who is Spanish and always gave me a cold look again and this she gave me a super cold look with an attitude. Then when I was done shopping she came to help me with my transaction when I asked her to walk with me to where I saw the sign she just said "She is always complicated and I don't have time for this." To me that just recked my Christmas Day. You don't disrespect a customer to that level another manager approached me and helped explain the pricing to me. It's not being complicated when you need an explanation of pricing and I feel as if though she is being racist to me. She maybe Spanish but at end of day she is no different then an Asian person for her to be that nasty to us Asian. I don't go there for pharmacy or grocery I went there today for groceries because it was closest otherwise these people are not worth anyones day when they approach there customers with such disrespect I don't care how complicated I am treat me with some level of respect. Someone needs to be rude and disrespectful to her so she can acknowledge her actions. This place don't deserve any stars. The entire store needs structure. read more

This Giant has really gone downhill over the years. The are several supermarkets that offer better pricing and better produce. In a pinch, this Giant is good for the basics (milk, bread, eggs) but I would never get a large grocery order here. I would rather save my money and shop somewhere cheaper. read more

My wife and I shop at this giant all the time (two to four times per week) because of its location. We go there for most grocery purchases. The prices aren't too bad. My biggest complaint here is the freshness of meats and vegetables. The vegetables are never in super great shape, and sometimes they're all really bad. I always have to dig through the onions to find good ones, and I'm not an incredibly picky person. I just want one that looks like it wasn't found in a dumpster. The service isn't awful. I almost always use the self-checkout, which usually means I don't have to wait in a long line, and I get checked out faster than if I went through the normal line. When I do go through the regular checkout, I seem to be treated fairly. Last time I was there the kid at the checkout was messing around on his cell phone some, but it didn't really bother me (again, not that picky). It didn't slow down my service any. One time I bought some tortillas that I noticed, upon arriving at home, was covered in mold. I went back and they let me return them without question. One thumb down for the bad tortillas, one thumb up for the good service on the return. My three stars say it all. This Giant is just okay. read more

So I was at Giant today and they were out of the German Chocolate Cake Mix. One of the associates looked it up for me and told me that their stock was down due to COVID. I thanked him for helping me and finished shopping. I checked out at the self checkout and while I was doing so, the gentleman who helped me previous came up to me with a chocolate bomb cake. He asked if I had ever tried it before and I said no. He gave me the bomb cake for free in case the recipe I was making didn't turn out. I will always shop here from now on! read more

Located in Cascades Marketplace, this is a convenient grocery store and is where I go to get things I can't get at Costco, mostly those things which would be way too much (in quantity) at Costco. I also come here to get fresh flowers if I need them, or when things are on sale, namely Barilla pasta sauces. I also come here when I need some quick produce, but mostly I go elsewhere for produce as it can be pricey here and the quality is not that great. Their deli dept is decent, the attendents have always been nice, though not always knowledgeable. They have self check-out lanes which I love, I wish they were 24hrs though, because I like to shop later at night when there aren't any crowds. They close at 9pm :( read more

Great parking spaces, matching the local discounters price on Lactaid, bringing in fresh blue crabs in the summer, and the best selection of cheeses, deli meats, and bakery items around. I love this grocery store, even with all the swank new places opening from Sterling to Ashburn. The bathrooms are always clean, and they sell awesome stuff like blueberry muffins in the day-old bakery shelf. So... Who cares about parking spaces, you ask? Well...I like to back into my space at home, and that means putting grocery bags in the back passenger seat on my side for convenient retrieval when I get home. Giant Food has a buffer between spaces, so not only can I open the doors without dinging the car next to me, I don't have to haul groceries in the back of my Tundra. These folks think of EVERY convenience - and keep prices competitive. read more

This Giant is probably the best one I've shopped in. Conveniently located down the street from my house, this store always carries a good selection of packaged food in the Nature's Marketplace section... vegan (and gluten-free stuff if you swing that way) items are much appreciated! In the regular butter section they have Earth Balance, in the refrigerated milk section they have refrigerated nondairy milks (in addition to the tetrapak boxes in Nature's Marketplace). The produce here is okay, I think it'd be great if they had more organic stuff but they do at least carry organic salad mixes and bags of organic apples. Also the Bolthouse Farms juices are delicious (right next to the produce section near Nature's Marketplace). They have a good international foods selection, too, they even carry Masarepa! The staff are friendly to me. People tend to think that the automated check-out lanes are faster, but wait until you get an item that doesn't ring up correctly or someone checks out in front of you who doesn't know how to use the machine - it throws a wrench in your plans of a hasty exit. If no one's around, use the automated check-out lanes, but otherwise you're better off with a trained check-out person (plus - they get to keep their job). The pharmacy here is pretty good. There are a few pharmacists who are not so friendly. But when I needed a prior authorization for a prescription the pharmacists faxed the needed documentation to my doctor's office right away. When my disorganized doctor's office lost the fax, the Giant pharmacist quickly re-faxed the information. I appreciated their competency, you won't get this kind of service at all pharmacies. Locally, this Giant certainly rates better than most of the available grocery stores. The exception would be Wegmans in Dulles 28 - a bit further away but has a much bigger selection (and of course, bigger crowds). Still, for me, Giant is great. read more

Its the closest grocery store to me. Its clean and the staff is friendly. I dont shop around for the best prices on groceries, so I cant compare prices. Never had any issues with returns. They always run out of Dr Pepper though.. you would think they would order more. The only negative is the produce department. Only go if I don't feel like driving to Wegmans. The prices have gotten better over the last few years with all the Wegmans that are nearby. Still, I prefer to drive there.
