Chicken salad with big piece of cartilage and bone. It was delicious but very jarring to find such large pieces amongst the chicken salad.

Deli needs to pick out bones and cartilage from chicken salad. Dangerous choking hazard. Would have never seen them in a sandwich and am lucky I was using a fork. Store is otherwise clean and employees helpful and friendly.

Yay! Egg free, Nut Free, Diary Free 'OREO!' Great for a young toddler!

This Giant is pretty decent. It has plenty of self check out lanes that making checkout faster. Produce is a hit or miss. I prefer shopping at other places for produce but sometimes I'll grab some organic bananas here or a couple bunches of cilantro, which is pretty clean and has less dirt then some other places. Pharmacy is pretty nice. It's organized and efficient and quick. When you drop off a prescription, you get a number. A LED screen near the ceiling will flash your # when your order is ready. My favorite thing in this store is a small department by the produce section that is devoted to allergy friendly foods, as well as organic foods. This is the only store I have found here that has a decent selection of dairy free, egg free, nut free cookies, pasta, and ice cream. I am thrilled that I can come here and make one stop to pick up all the snacks my allergy sensitive toddler likes. Now when his older brother eats an Oreo, my young toddler can also have his own egg free, nut free, diary free version of 'Oreo' too because this Giant has it! They also have Earth's Best organic baby jars too which are usually on sale and cheaper then Baby R US recent price hike of this product. Great store!

I have a few major complaints about the customer service manager, Masooda Alizada. I have been…read moreshopping at this location for approximately four years and have consistently had great experiences with employees throughout the store until now. My first complaint occurred on 3/6/26. On this day I had about 14 items totaling around $76. In self-checkout. Masooda approached my register and began checking my bag to verify that items were scanned. She placed in her code and compared the screen to the contents of my bag. I had not requested assistance, the register was not stuck, and there was no indication of an issue. This has never happened to me before, unless I accidentally scanned something incorrectly and asked for help. Because she appeared new to me, I decided to let it go at the time. My second complaint happened today. I needed to quickly exchange a $2.50 jar of jam for a $7.89 brand. I walked in with the product and asked Masooda if the exchange was okay. She said yes. I grabbed the new item and returned. After waiting a few minutes, she came out and asked for my receipt. I explained I didn't have it and that I normally use my wife's number for the VIC account, and my phone was in the car. She insisted she needed the number. I reminded her this was an exchange where I was paying more, not requesting a refund. Including the Leesburg Harris Teeter, I have never been required to provide a receipt for my smaller exchanges (Refunds: yes). She then mentioned fuel points, which I understood, but I offered my wife's name, suggested she use their VIC card, but she still refused. I went to my car, retrieved my phone, and returned. At that point she began showing me their refund policy. I explained that this was an exchange and that I had previously worked in the grocery industry, specifically with Harris Teeter. I pointed out that she had several options available: looking up my wife's name, using a store VIC card, or simply processing the exchange. She had also just seen me in the store on 3/6. She stated, "Then you should know how the policy works". I asked for her name and Masooda said it's on the receipt. She then tried to lecture me on the policy, and never asked for my ID, which is part of their policy. Thus, I did not sign anything or provide my phone number which she asked. Again, I never had to do any of this for exchanges at Harris Teeter. As I was walking away, I heard what sounded like "Ass" and turned around. She was shaking her head left to right. I walked back and asked what she said. She stuttered, mumbled and then told me to "have a good day". Maybe I heard her incorrectly, but it was definitely derogatory, she did not want to repeat it and was surprised that I heard her. I asked to speak with another manager. She called someone and went into the office. I waited about 10 minutes. Around the 7-minute mark I asked an employee to knock on the office door. A younger male opened the door, briefly spoke to the employee, and closed the door. I waited another few minutes and no manager came out. I called the store and spoke with Jose Ayala, the assistant manager. He was polite and apologetic, although I told him an apology was not necessary. He asked questions and took notes. I asked him to pass this information on to the district manager, Charlie Magaraci. I asked Jose a few important questions. Could Masooda have processed the exchange without my wife's number? He said it is not policy, but yes, she could have. Could she have looked up my wife's name, and I validate most of the phone number? Again, he said yes. In other words, Masooda had several easier, customer-friendly options available but chose not to use them. This situation could have been handled far better with finer judgment. Masooda Alizada needs retraining in customer service and understanding the options available to assist customers. She also needs de-escalation training. I do not want her to be fired; I simply want her to do better. This is where my family and I regularly shop. My family and I will not be back if this is not addressed appropriately.

A manager…read moreeventually finds the other four employees screwing around in a corner and makes them go back to their stations and splits the line to the workers who are seething that they have been required to...work. My cashier grunts and dead-eye stares at me through the transaction even when I am greeting/communicating with him. The one working the self checkout line swings her arms back and forth for five minutes with a pissed off look, making customers go around her. A third keeps leaving her station to yell jokes at my cashier distracting him. The above doesn't convey the full weirdness and "hostile to working" atmosphere...but yea. Probably the worst managed staff I have seen in a while. Sad because I used to come here all the time and the people were super helpful and engaging. Also, the milk always seems to be like 2-4 days from expiration...

Disappointing Meat Department…read more The meat department was a major letdown. The selection was extremely limited, and what was available didn't look fresh--some packages had discolored meat, and others were close to or past their sell-by dates. There was also a strong, unpleasant smell near the meat counter, which made me question the store's cleanliness and food safety standards. To make matters worse, I couldn't find any staff around to ask for help or special cuts, and there were no clear labels or prices on several items. For a department that should be one of the store's highlights, this was unacceptable. I won't be buying meat here again and would caution others to do the same until they improve their standards. Bathroom is in the meat section and I couldn't believe on my eyes when the meat section employee came out from bathroom after flushing toilet and start cutting meat with out washing his hands

But they are getting as bad as many other similar stores are doing to their customers. The owners have left the meat section on the mercy of people working in that section. Is it a deal that they have made with the crew or they themselves are getting like this. Crew charges any price other than on the list and they are not able to explain the reason and the customer feel totally unsupported. I have similar experience more than one times and am totally disappointed. Also they have increased the price on every single items. Sweet ( mithai) is stale and high price. We have to throw that in the trash. I would ask customers not to visit this store unless they fix their problems.

You know, nuts, dried beans, dried lentils, and a couple dozen other items that were available by the pound, as they are in every other Whole Foods, including Ashburn. So I just did something I never do, and walked out, leaving my cart behind, on my way to go to Sprouts, which is next to Mom's - two actual health food stores, both of which sell bulk dried foods. ----------------------- Prior review ----------------------- We waited a year for this? Seriously? What a **HUGE** disappointment. Start with the cafe. Hoping for something as inviting as Fair Lakes, with beer on tap and indoor and outdoor dining? Or perhaps Ashburn's second floor with a two-level outdoor deck? Forget it. The indoor cafe area is about as inviting as a prison cafeteria. They had a year to build, a very large space, and a side parking lot that was always empty when this building was a Best Buy. Given they gutted the building, they could have cut openings in that wall and created an indoor / outdoor space. Nope. Let's just throw some tables against the front wall. The harsh lighting and being on display will ensure quick turnover. I've held team meetings at Fair Lakes, so we could talk over beer and burgers. Zero chance of me ever doing that here. Salad bar? I had hoped for a four-station setup like Ashburn, instead of the three-station setup they had at the prior Reston location. Nope. Just three, with one dedicated to soup, which means all hot food, prepared food, and salad offerings are spread across just two stations. Thus, the station for salad has half the vegetable and protein options Ashburn offers. Instead of five types of greens, it had two, plus browning iceberg, and significantly fewer vegetable options. No cauliflower, green beans, radishes, edamame, green peppers, etc. Protein? Instead of three types of lean poultry, it had one - rubbery chicken. And for non-meat-based protein, instead of tofu and 4 types of beans, it had black and garbanzo beans. Can you get a salad here? Yes. Will I? Given the selection, why bother? And beer? Well, the website claims a "world class selection," but the nearby Giant and Harris Teeter stores both seem to have a much larger selection, including local craft options. And while I was disappointed when I saw the beer options were largely limited to what was in a cooler, I was even more disappointed when I saw how much of that cooler was dedicated to seltzers and non-alcoholic content. Hey, those are great options, but how about a beer selection that motivates craft beer fans to come to the store? If I'm in the store and need beer, I'll grab something, but I'm not passing by Harris Teeter to come here for beer... and that means I'll likely pickup other things there as well. But hey, I did grab some Yogi tea while I was here, since I ran out last night. For $1 more a box than TJ's two blocks away. And while the place is clean, as you would expect at this stage, it has the ambiance of a fluorescent-lit big box discount store. Given the size of the space and the time they spent on the build out, this location could have been their flagship location in Nova. Instead, it's just another grocery store, in an area that does not lack for options, including a Wegman's, right down the road.
