I have a few major complaints about the customer service manager, Masooda Alizada. I have been shopping at this location for approximately four years and have consistently had great experiences with employees throughout the store until now. My first complaint occurred on 3/6/26. On this day I had about 14 items totaling around $76. In self-checkout. Masooda approached my register and began checking my bag to verify that items were scanned. She placed in her code and compared the screen to the contents of my bag. I had not requested assistance, the register was not stuck, and there was no indication of an issue. This has never happened to me before, unless I accidentally scanned something incorrectly and asked for help. Because she appeared new to me, I decided to let it go at the time. My second complaint happened today. I needed to quickly exchange a $2.50 jar of jam for a $7.89 brand. I walked in with the product and asked Masooda if the exchange was okay. She said yes. I grabbed the new item and returned. After waiting a few minutes, she came out and asked for my receipt. I explained I didn't have it and that I normally use my wife's number for the VIC account, and my phone was in the car. She insisted she needed the number. I reminded her this was an exchange where I was paying more, not requesting a refund. Including the Leesburg Harris Teeter, I have never been required to provide a receipt for my smaller exchanges (Refunds: yes). She then mentioned fuel points, which I understood, but I offered my wife's name, suggested she use their VIC card, but she still refused. I went to my car, retrieved my phone, and returned. At that point she began showing me their refund policy. I explained that this was an exchange and that I had previously worked in the grocery industry, specifically with Harris Teeter. I pointed out that she had several options available: looking up my wife's name, using a store VIC card, or simply processing the exchange. She had also just seen me in the store on 3/6. She stated, "Then you should know how the policy works". I asked for her name and Masooda said it's on the receipt. She then tried to lecture me on the policy, and never asked for my ID, which is part of their policy. Thus, I did not sign anything or provide my phone number which she asked. Again, I never had to do any of this for exchanges at Harris Teeter. As I was walking away, I heard what sounded like "Ass" and turned around. She was shaking her head left to right. I walked back and asked what she said. She stuttered, mumbled and then told me to "have a good day". Maybe I heard her incorrectly, but it was definitely derogatory, she did not want to repeat it and was surprised that I heard her. I asked to speak with another manager. She called someone and went into the office. I waited about 10 minutes. Around the 7-minute mark I asked an employee to knock on the office door. A younger male opened the door, briefly spoke to the employee, and closed the door. I waited another few minutes and no manager came out. I called the store and spoke with Jose Ayala, the assistant manager. He was polite and apologetic, although I told him an apology was not necessary. He asked questions and took notes. I asked him to pass this information on to the district manager, Charlie Magaraci. I asked Jose a few important questions. Could Masooda have processed the exchange without my wife's number? He said it is not policy, but yes, she could have. Could she have looked up my wife's name, and I validate most of the phone number? Again, he said yes. In other words, Masooda had several easier, customer-friendly options available but chose not to use them. This situation could have been handled far better with finer judgment. Masooda Alizada needs retraining in customer service and understanding the options available to assist customers. She also needs de-escalation training. I do not want her to be fired; I simply want her to do better. This is where my family and I regularly shop. My family and I will not be back if this is not addressed appropriately. read more

My mom has gotten a pizza made from here 3 times and every time we've had to ask them to not punch the bubbles in the doe (because it ruins it), and on top of that every time, no matter who makes it, the middle of the pizza is uncooked. My sister who has ordered from here has also had the same issue and had to ask them to put it back in the oven. read more

I hate grocery shopping but this is my favorite grocery store! All the employees are helpful and friendly but not hovering! Every department is wonderful it's like a dream come true. The parking lot is very spacious and this is a new store location for me so it's not crowded and everything is stocked full - including meat! I had one employee look all over for a cheese even though I said it was totally fine and not to worry. He really went above and beyond. I was shopping and decided on a sandwich. I know it's a grocery store but they make some good subs. The cheese bread is your best bet. Fresh baked and sliced when you order the sandwich. I like the roast beef...italian....ok I'll go with the club. Fresh meat, lettuce, black olives, onions, salt and pepper, and a bit of mayo. The sandwich is huge, like two meals huge. I ate half when i got home and the other half for dinner. No complaints. A solid sandwich for a good price. Much larger (and fresher) than subway. read more

I keep going to this store over and over thinking that my bad experience is just one time thing. Terrible service, employees are not attentive nor friendly, few of them smiles and some of them have a power ship. I sent a western union, usually I only give my phone number and they pull my info but not today, so she sent the money to the wrong country and of course I had to call western union, have them issue a refund, and I actually have to go back to the store to get the refund. Terrible service and is so inconvenient and waste of my time. I won't go to this store ever again Mom's is friendly, whole foods is professional. So disappointing. So I went back today 12/03/2024) to resolve the issue but the customer service manager, not only she argued back but she put the blame on me than said, you Muslim shale on you acting this way, the store manager did nothing but shooshing her, and turn to me to discipline me instead of apologizing for the bad experience. Harris Teeter makes their online shopping appealing by offering sales and incentives to bring their high prices down to a normal grocery store price. They place a hold on your credit card, and then when the sales change overnight, you are charged their normal prices without notice that the sale has expired. This is so scammy and gross. I have spent hundreds of dollars weekly at Harris Teeter and I will be bringing that business elsewhere. Not that it matters, because I'm just a drop in the bucket. But I do think people deserve transparent pricing, especially while costs just continue to rise. read more

The employees are incredibly rude and do not provide accurate information. You find them standing there making personal calls and texts when you try to get assistance. They also don't care if the customer is charged more than the price quoted in the advertisement. They either don't care or don't like where they work and it's abundantly clear in how they interact with customers. The items are also often marked differently than how they ring up at the register, so you feel like the store is trying to cheat you. With all the shopping options just a stones throw from this store, it's pointless to put up with this nonsense. Absolutely not worth the hassle. read more

My first time at the Harris Teeter in Sterling I'm a say this is the largest Harris Teeter I have visited. The fresh food section is outstanding they even have fresh made pizza to order as a selection. The deli is also large I had sushi, which was very fresh. I was extremely impressed by the taste. They had many more items than many of the other smaller Harris Teeter stores people at checkout are not very efficient. Harris Teeter does not have Apple Pay. It is extremely difficult to imagine a store brand with so many options is behind the Times with technology. The parking lot is huge and spacious and they even have a drive-through pharmacy which is very nice. read more

I can't believe its been about 3 years since I first did my review of this place. So still overall, I have enjoyed shopping her, we've switched to do our regular grocery shopping here. The kiddie dinosaur ride and I have made peace, and my husband did witness it suddenly making noise and movement unprompted. They have a good variety of produce that is always good quality and if you get a VIC card you can get some pretty good discounts when stuff is on special. Also, I'd recommend trying the fried chicken there its really good! Also the pharmacy they are top notch! I switched all of my husband's prescriptions here, started my occasional prescriptions here, and also had my parents switch theirs. Even though my parents and I have different insurance still the out of pocket costs we pay respectively, Harris Teeter beats most other stores nearby as far as price and generally most prescriptions have been in stock when I've dropped of a new prescription. Also the entire pharmacy staff are just super nice people!! When I had to shut off auto refills for my mom after she had passed away they were super kind and compassionate about things, as they had gotten to know my dad pretty well since he's there on the regular for his prescriptions. I was really impressed! And today, shout out to Maria, I had a new prescription that was pretty pricey even with my insurance which generally has great coverage, she worked to figure out how I could use a discount program through the drug maker. I would have paid for my co-pay if it wasn't allowed with my insurance but thankfully the drug manufacturer had a workaround that could be used. Kudos to her for helping me! read more

This Harris Teeter is fairly new, very large and beautiful. I didn't get a chance to walk around the entire store. I came twice, once for Starbucks and the second for cake from the bakery. If I were closer, I'd shop at this location more often. read more

I'm a huge fan of Harris Teeter! For quite a while, we've been shopping at their Herndon store. When this one opened, our daughter and I took a look at it and were really impressed. In fact, I told my husband that we were shopping at this store next time. We've now shopped here 3 times and plan to make it our regular "Teet" even though it is farther away from our house than the Herndon one. The Herndon store is just fine---don't get me wrong! We've grown to like the friendliness of the employees there and like how they remember regular customers. In fact, because of that, we were torn as to whether to stop shopping at the Herndon one. However, this new store has really wowed us. It's bigger than the Herndon store so they are able to offer a wider selection of products. The company that does the sushi serves up really fresh fish and much as we like the sushi guy in Herndon, the company in the Sterling store offers up a better product. The new store also has a station where they make fresh pizzas and you can buy by the slice or have a whole pie. We've yet to try it, so I can't speak to how good it is. This last trip, they were giving out samples of freshly made prime rib. The friendly employee told us that every Thursday they offer up a prime rib dinner to go which consists of an 8 ounce slice plus 2 sides for $9.99! We just may try it sometime! The produce section is larger and they offer a wide variety of containers with cut-up fruit. Just looking at the selection, it reminded me of Whole Foods! They also have a drive-through pharmacy window which, I'm sure, is a big help to those who get their prescriptions filled here. Also, there is a Starbucks in the store that offers seating in a private-like nook off to the side. Parking here is far, far better than in Herndon. In Herndon, the lot is small and cramped with some blind corners. Every time I shopped there, I would feel so relieved to have gotten out of there without incident. That said, I'm sure that if you were to shop at this "Teet" on a Friday or Saturday night, you would be dealing with Chuy's customers so finding a spot may be a bit of a challenge. So far, every staff member that we interacted with here has been very friendly. In fact, on one trip a cashier who was sent to the Herndon store to train remembered ringing us up when we shopped at Herndon . Some drawbacks --- We found out that no 2 "Teets" are the same when it comes to the layout. So, if you've shopped at another "Teet", be aware that you will have to get used to this layout. However, on the plus side, they do give out free store maps! The checkout system is somewhat strange as it's a hybrid of Costco's system---cart on the left, customer on the right but there is no conveyor belt, the cashier just takes items out of your cart, rings them up, then bags them. We told one cashier that it looks like more work for her but she said it wasn't all that bad. If you live nearby, do give this store a try! Be sure to get a VIC card so that you can save. Also, if you are over 60, you get a 5% senior discount on Thursdays! read more

Pharmacy is awful. Went to get prescription filled. Was told it would be ready in an hour. Came back an hour and a half later to pick up. Two people chit chatting behind the counter ignoring me. Pharmacist was engaged with customer. One of the two technicians took a phone call and had a lengthy conversation while I still stood there waiting for help. Politely asked if someone could help me. Finally a technician asked my name for pick up. Was told she had just starting working on it. Came back 30 minutes later to find out they didn't have one of the drugs I needed. Took a few days to fill. Tried to pick up twice but lines long and super slow. Went yesterday to pick up and was told repeatedly that I did not have anything fro pick up. After persisting, it was discovered they had returned to stock. read more

I am a Huge fan of customer service as i am a previous manager of Harris Teeter. Today i placed an order for my company Holiday Meal Giveaway for our residents. I originally called to receive a quote in which Timothy Fisher (FreshFoodMgr) assisted me with giving me a quote. Next i called Giant which i received terrible service. This is generally a clean location, but the last several times that I've been here, the bathroom has been absolutely filthy. Almost the entire floor was wet each time - and it wasn't from a cleaning solution. TP on the floor, sinks barely work and there were no paper towels in either dispenser. Ordered one time online for pickup and this will be my last time. I grew up with HT and am 25 now, so the definition of a lifelong customer. I waited 25 minutes for them to put the groceries in my car and it was 85 degrees out. The receipt they gave me said $131 and some change even though my online order said $99. I spoke to three managers in a single day because they could not charge me correctly. They did not give me all of the items (which would of come to around $130), so naturally missing 6-8 items would drop it to around $99. They never said sorry and just kept making excuses to the $40 surcharge. This was AFTER speaking to a manager and he added up everything and said "Yes, I am getting a total of $99.92". The next day I spoke to the store manager who just went back to "The charges are correct and we will charge you just shy of $140". Really?! Three managers, five phone calls, for a single online order that took 25 minutes to get put into my car. This store, staff, especially management, are a joke. I am disputing this with my bank because at this point the three managers, dumb, dumber, and dumbest, don't have a clue of what the fuck they are doing. read more

Updated 5/29/2018: I was contacted by HT after leaving a 1-Star review for their lobster dinner special and was offered a refund for the two that I purchased. The manager told me that they sold over 100 of the lobster dinners that Wednesday and I was apparently the only customer who had a complaint. I did not argue with her but will keep in mind from now on to be wary of deals that sound to good to be true. I was told that the store receives and thaws the shipment of frozen lobsters on Monday and cooks them on Wednesday. They were weighed before they were cooked, maybe even while frozen. Although we did not get sick from eating the lobsters, they were definitely not as fresh as lobster tails I've purchased and cooked myself from Costco which were also previously frozen. Original review: My store has a Wednesday lobster dinner special for $11.99 from 4:00-7:30pm. It's for a whole lobster 1-1.25lb steamed lobster, corn, baked potato with sour cream and chives, and corn on the cob with melted butter. I picked up two at 4:30pm (the lobster was stored in a insulated container) and when weighed each lobster when I got home. Each one was around 0.75lb, not even close to 1lb and worst of all it did not taste fresh at all, as if it was previous frozen and thawed and refroze many times. The corn on the cob was a 2-inch piece of corn that also did not taste fresh. The potato was alright. I would definitely not get this again. I also went into the store to pick up eggs. All of their dozens from the house brand had an expiration date in three days so I didn't get any. read more

Incident report: my wife was driving through the Sterling Harris Teeter parking lot yesterday when an employee, pushing a cart full of cardboard boxes, turned directly into her path, causing her to slam on the brakes. Instead of being grateful for not being killed, Chris (as we later found out his name to be) screamed obscenities at her. She responded with one of her own, and parked. Chris followed her into the store and began screaming at her. He was so angry that he walked right into a Starbucks display, knocking it over and falling over. Screaming "you're dead, you're dead", Chris threatened my wife at least six times. The guy is obviously mental, so my wife brought it to the attention of the manager on duty. His reaction: Nada. He promised to investigate and get back to her, and then walked away. My wife had to run after him, and remind him that he could not follow up with her if he did not have her name and number. Since then there has been no follow up from Harris Teeter of any kind. Apparently, they think the way to handle employees screaming death threats at customers is to sweep it under the rug. According to the Sterling police, we are welcome to file a police report if the store refuses to respond to our complaint. Looking forward to engaging these buffoons both in court and in social media. read more

This place makes me want to pay gas station convenience prices. Pay with a card if you want your money back. They can't count $ or make a cup of coffee. I almost paid $15 for a cup of halfassed black cofffee till I made them count again. If you want a pizza slice, wait for 7-11 to make it. I have always enjoyed going into this Harris Teeter. The store is well stocked and clean. Very important for a grocery store, in my opinion anyway. I always have a great experience. I also have gone to pick up my groceries and it's quite convenient. Get the yearly subscription for this, if you're like me and go a few times a week it's worth it. Ive even gotten a call to let me know what wasnt available and they offered me substitutions. Nidia (I think that's how she spells her name) is just superb, friendly and super helpful. Give that lady a raise. It's a tad further from me than another Harris Teeter but this one has them beat. read more

Everyone here is super friendly. The cashiers are usually very talkative to see how you're doing. The self check-out is simple if you don't have many items to check out. Haven't gotten much produce here due to probably getting some better produce over at Giant down the street. Their pies are pretty good. My mom has gotten two fresh pizzas from them and they were great. I think you can get one from them hot or they have some ones you can "take and bake" yourself if you don't want to have a pizza that night for dinner. Passing by the Meat and Seafood section looks good. Overall a great experience every time I walk in. read more

Decided to pop in today and see if luck leads us to a decent selection of flowers, we left with a beautiful bouquet of flowers prepared by the highly talented florist, Rashani (probably not spelled correctly). I'll let the picture speak for itself, she asked all the right questions and helped us figure out what we really wanted and then turned it into something extravagant. Hands down my favorite grocery store. Every employee, every single one, every single day are just the best. I shop here probably three times a week and have never had a bad experience. These employees GO OUT of their way to be helpful, cheerful and engaging. I love the pizza guy, the butchers, the deli clerks, the floral dept, and the produce guys. They have really good sales too. If I can't find something weird they will not just tell me where it is they TAKE me to it. So happy they opened! PS Prime Rib on Thurs is outstanding. read more

There are definitely some pros and cons to this location. The Pros: 1. Location! I live about halfway between two Giants which can be hit or miss. I appreciate having another option close aside from Giant and Costco. 2. The store is new, and staff seems to be very friendly from my experience. Also, seems like they are very well stocked and trying to pull customers in with occasional things like grilling out front, etc. The Cons: 1. I haven't had the best luck with produce here. A pre-made bag of brussel sprouts was the only option I could find here (I couldn't find a place where I could bag my own) and they weren't very high quality. I also tried some peaches and I think they were picked way too early, because they never got ripe before they started rotting. 2. Cashiers are still trying to figure it out, so service can be sort of slow. This is probably to be expected with a newer store, so I can cut them some slack. They were friendly at least! Just took a while to get my groceries checked out. Overall, it's a good option, but I think they have some things they need to tweak as they get things figured out! read more

Great visit, whether crowded or not, I always have such a great visit. Just bought Flounder from the fish department. When we prepared the food, it was the most fishy tasty meal I ever had. This isn't the first time we had problems at this grocery store. I have instructed my wife NEVER EVER go to this place again. I am so surprise that Harris Teeter let this place goes unsupervised. I will only go to the Harris Teeter in Reston. This place has gone from excellent to just barely 'ok'. There are management issues here (particularly with a female manager per the employees) which has caused some VERY good, personable employees to leave........Eric, Jeff and Penny specifically. Case in point last Sunday, Sept 30, the manager (not sure which one) was supposed to open the store at 0430 to allow for preparation of breakfast. According to an employee the manager didn't show up until just after 0700. Breakfast wasn't prepared and on the warming tables until about 0900. How do I know? I was there at 0800 (and came back several times) and witnessed first hand. read more

I love Harris Teeter. I live next to one in Reston and I work next to this one in Sterling. My only issue here is the hot bar. I go to the hot bar pretty much everyday for lunch. My one issue is that sometimes they don't get the food out until 30+ minutes after the posting time. Seems to me like if you're going to post a time for food to come out, you should have it out at or before that time! Other than that, I love Harris Teeter and will keep coming here everyday because it's great! So glad Sterling got one! read more

Ordered five whole subs at 1:15 pm to be picked up at 1:45. Arrived at 1:45 only to find that they had not been made. They said that they would be ready in 15 minutes, but continued to make subs for people standing in line. At a little after 2:00 the gentlemen working the counter got ready start my order. While watching him make subs, his face mask covered his mouth but not his nose. At suggested that the mask was useless, in less it covers both. He adjusted it and proceded to start my order, only to have the mask come down off his nose again. At this point i decided that I did not feel comfortable feeding my wife, daughter and two grand daxughters subs made by this mam. I told him I no longer wanted the subs, and was glad he had not made them. read more
