I haven't been to this spot in years. I forgot how good this place was! Music is always popping here. I came in on a Friday night, and they had a live DJ playing. The music is a mix of EDM, Hip-hop, Rap, and R&B. They have tables and bar top seating. If you have a bigger group, I'm sure you can find a table depending on the time you arrive. There is a lot of seating. To start off, I ordered the Matcha Martini. It was STRONG omg, definitely a sipper, but it was so good. It was creamy and had a good matcha flavor. I love how they added matcha powder on top. For drinks, I also tried their espresso martini and Bubbly Pineapple. The espressos here are good, no complaints. The Bubbly Pineapple is so cute; it comes out with a bubble of smoke you can pop. The drink is very refreshing; it really tastes like pineapple. FYI, the drink has little black seeds, so if you don't like textures in your drink, maybe this one isn't for you. Also the drink came with a little frozen pineapple you can add to your drink once you pop the bubble As an appetizer, I got a dozen raw oysters and decided to add the $5 tobiko (fish eggs). Let me say, they were not stingy with the Tobiko, there was so much on my Oysters, I mean a lot! The oysters were good, and so was the tobiko, but I feel that with so much tobiko, it kind of took away from the oysters. Still good though, especially for $21 for the dozen with the tobiko! It was very filling I'm not gonna lie, I got pretty full with the oysters, but I still had to eat my entree As an entree, I ordered the Short Ribs, which came with rice and a side salad. I didn't think I was going to eat much of my entree since the oysters had filled me up, but I ate the short ribs down to the bone! Every single one of those ribs I devoured, no meat was left on my plate. I didn't have space to eat, but my stomach made space for this. 10/10 would recommend the short ribs, especially with the delicious sauce it came with. I think it's like a fish sauce 10/10 for food and drinks. Bonus: the staff here is really friendly. I really enjoyed my time here. I had of one the best martinis here yesterday. Chelsea made me a matcha martini and it truly blew me away. The yuzu margarita pictured here was delicious. In addition to those amazing cocktails I ordered the beef skewers which were absolutely delicious. I will be a regular here. read more

Well it's been awhile since I've been here but I still enjoy this spot. Popped in on a Friday evening around 7:30pm. Had no reservations anywhere on a Friday night but called GiAu Bar n Bites & they said come on in, we don't get our crowd till late night. It was fairly empty at 7:30p but by the time we left at 9:45p there were a few more ppl. Funny thing is, the age of most customers was 40-60s. The music is pumping loudly with no DJ but at 9p the DJ came in & took the music up another level! I think the older folks come out early & likely the younger people take over after 10 or 11p. Returning to a favorite spot for a drink and light bites. The restaurant/bar located in Katy Asian Town has great music, skilled bartenders with an extensive drink menu. The dining menu offers mostly small plates but a few large plate items are offered. I can't single out a single favorite from the list of thirty so do as I do and enjoy them one by one. My boyfriend and I always love to go to Giau. Great finger foods and drinks. We are a fan of their espresso and matcha martini. They were so good!! Happy hour its before 7pm so come by and check it out. Food ratings: - Avocado bomb with wonton chips (10/10): its always been my favorite. Love the tobiko, avocado, imitation crab and wonton chips combination. - Banh bot chien (9/10): the crunchiness and texture is exactly like those in Saigon. Deducted one point because they dont have papaya salad or salted radish. - Wings (8/10) : flavor is great but it wasn't crunchy enough for me because of the wet sauce. But definitely a great finger foods, especially if you go during HH - Quail (7/10) : bf liked it but a tad dry for me - Skewers (8/10): flavor was excellent. Came here on a Saturday night with a few friends. The place wasn't busy at all -- we were the only table, and just a couple of people were at the bar. Our server was super friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. We ordered drinks and a round of food. Everything came out except the grilled oyster. After we finished eating, we decided to order more food and also asked about the oyster. The waiter went to check and told us they had just put it on the grill. Our second round of food came out, and still no oyster. By the time we were finishing up, it still hadn't arrived, so we asked to cancel it and have it taken off the bill. Even through the years, Giau remains one of my favorite spots to hang out. There have been some recent changes to the menu to make room for new foods and drinks. Wether I'm here for one, or the other, or both... GiAu never disappoints. My favorite foods to order have to be the oysters with Tobiko, Mango Squid Salad, and the Chicken feet. As for the drinks, I honestly just tell the bartenders what I like and they'll hit the nail on the head with their recommendations. And if you ask nicely, they might even whip you up something new. They've even got daily specials along with a daily happy hour. The vibes here are all over the place. Some days are quiet (usually weekdays) and other days are full of energy, lots of people and loud music. DJs play on Friday and Saturday from 9 til close. A lot more spacious than the iconic location in Bellaire Chinatown, and much trendier vibes with all the neon lights. Bummer that the atmosphere isn't as lively, most likely because it doesn't draw a crowd like the Chinatown location. The space is also much larger/roomier. Some things about Giau's just never changes. Like the light up chalkboard with the food and $5 shots specials. Or the option to eat hotpot while you get lit like you're in a club. They've got all the same dishes as the original location, and maybe even more. Pork Belly Taco is by far my favorite. Drinks like alcoholic milktea or watermelon soju are on the menu as well. Everything I've tried matches up to the quality that Giau's is known for. Oh and at both locations, the waitresses are spectacular and hard working and friendly too, as well as being ridic attractive. LOVE going to GiAu! I've been to see my friend DJ, and just for fun, and the vibes are ALWAYS on point! The watermelon Soju was always a hit with groups! And if you like Balut, or oysters, this spot has both! I always run into someone I know at GiAu it's such a fun spot to be at! The music is VERY loud so be weary of that, for me that's a good thing but I've known people to bring earplugs souffle pancakes as pictured were delicious. Definitely try this place out if you're in the area and want to avoid Bellaire, which is a very busy part of town. Everything I've tried here is just delicious. The drinks are great but I specifically come here for the food. The price is decent for the quality and portions, I'm surprised it doesn't get packed during the week. Although, I've came on a few Saturday's before, they have a DJ and it's usually packed with a fun mature crowd. I love their Tom Yum soup, it is packed with flavor and a variety of seafood. Giau is a fun spot to hangout with friends. The vibes are for sure different from the Bellaire location, but it's just fine considering they are catering to the suburban crowd. The food is pretty good, and the drinks are nonstop, so it gets pretty easy to run up the tab quick. The servers are really friendly, but it could get a little obnoxious with the unwanted water-falling sometimes, like we bought a section in a club in the city. I get what they're trying to do, but it just gets funny and awkward. It is pretty cool that you can purchase a bottle here and they will reserve it for you up to 2 weeks if you are unable to finish it that night. I wasn't a big fan of the Dj, since he was playing a little too much house music and it was too loud..and we were hoping for more variety. Some old school hip hop and r&b would be nice, especially catering to us geriatric millennials out here in the burbs haha. GiAu is a good time though. read more
