The portion size was generous and came with pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole--exactly what my wife was hoping for. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The only downside was the price. I ordered the 'Midnight Berry' martini and it was perfection--super smooth and really well balanced. We shared the spinach dip with chips. Been here 3 times and every time it's been an crappy experience! The manager literally just came outside and took the cushions away from us on the outdoor patio!! Out on the patio there are couches, but the cushions were inside behind the DJ so my friend went inside and grabbed a couple cushions so we could sit outside because it was a nice evening and the music was so loud we could barely hear each other inside. And the manager came out and yelled at us about there's a reason that the patio furniture wasn't out and then they don't want them out and that she's gonna put them up and made us give them back to her. I was like I can understand if it was raining, but it's not. We also had a $250 bar tab for me and my husband and another $100 bar tab for our friend. And we were sitting where there was a awning overhang. So you could've let us sit on the cushions and then when the bar is closed an hour and 15 minutes later, you could put them back up. But she was definitely rude about it. We came last January 2024 with around 60 people after a work party, and it was empty in here, and they said they couldn't accommodate us. It was doctors and nurses..... so you lost out on thousands of dollars of revenue because you didn't want to push tables together in the private party area and allow us to be up there and assign us a couple waiters. So we went down to Ambriza's rooftop, and that has become our annual after-party location Also... why is last call at 12:25 if you close at 2? Are we just told us it's because it's slow so they don't stay open to the posted hours they close early if there's not enough people. I mean, I wouldn't call it slow. There was probably at least 20 people on the patio and at least another 40 people. And their Mexican Candy shots were the worst I ever had! But the Wildberry margarita is really good. And the dragon fruit one is really pretty and decent. We also ended up ordering some fried pickles around midnight because she let us know the kitchen was closing, and they were really good. I went with the Hot Honey Chicken sandwich, and it was a great mix of sweet heat and crunch--simple but really satisfying. Not at all busy at 1 pm on a weekday such that I had a choice of spots to sit and found one with an outlet nearby so I could charge up my phone. Meanwhile, my van is plugged in to a power outlet in the parking garage and charging up that battery. Pretty terrible place. My wife and I went for happy hour yesterday. The vent above our table was leaking drops of water onto our table the whole time, there was an endless amount of fruit flies buzzing around us, and worse than all that, the service was TERRIBLE. There were less than ten guests in the whole bar, yet our bartender forgot my wife's order immediately after we gave it to him. Then I watched him clean up dishes instead of make her cocktail. I was nearly done with my first beer when I had to remind him a second time that she didn't get her drink. I was ended up having two beers and my wife had a Paloma, yet our bill was nearly $30 during happy hour. This place is miserable and deserves to go out of business. I ordered a burger, medium--an elementary request, one would think--but what arrived was a structurally unsound disaster, teetering on the edge of raw. Medium rare, at best. The patty was a feeble, pink mess, hastily assembled between two halves of a bun that disintegrated upon contact, as if recoiling in shame from the atrocity within. Every bite was an exercise in damage control, a desperate attempt to salvage some semblance of dignity from a meal that simply refused to cooperate. The fries, however, were quite good. A rare beacon of competence in an otherwise grim dining experience. And the water? Exceptionally refreshing--perhaps because it was the only thing that didn't require this establishment's culinary intervention. Went for happy hour, left not so happy. The happy hour menu advertised $6 wine by the glass, all signature martinis and select house cocktails. When we got the bill, our wine was NOT $6 a glass. When we asked, the response was that it was only for house wines. We asked how would we would know it only applied to house wines. Nowhere on the menus is "house wine" . We were told that we should have asked about it. This was mentioned SEVERAL times. Our reply was, how would we know to ask? Shouldn't the server be able to sell the menu? We asked for the manager. He walked up with an attitude. Then proceeded to mansplain to us that we should have asked about the menu. That we ordered a more expensive wine and should have known that wasn't the housewine. And couldn't explain how we would know what a housewine was and how we would have known to ask about it. He was was very condescending. His line of defense was that this is what corporate told them to say. I would have thought a manager would be able to take the directive and be able to finesse it in such a way that customers would find more palatable. The food was okay. The service was terrible. We sat at the bar and the bartender was more concerned about conversing with other staff than actual paying customers. She had the personality of a wet blanket and was not welcoming, exactly the traits you look for when spending time and money at an establishment! We have visited other locations without the same experience and won't be back to this one. There were maybe 8-10 people in the entire place during our visit. Half the TV's weren't working or only had half a screen. If you are going to have TV's they should probably work or just be turned off, not a good look. The venue is located in a great area at LaCenterra, but service hasn't been very friendly the last two times we've been here, unfortunately. Tonight's server was very rushed, distracted, and hard to find. We felt like we were an inconvenience, as they were always rushing away from our table. Also, what's up with the micro-thin burger patties? I know burgers are at a discount on Tuesday, but these were kid-size, smashed ultra thin. It was like a tomato sandwich with the thinnest possible patty as a garnish. The person in our party who ordered an impossible was charged an extra $4 for an ultra-thin, barely-there patty, so the $15 wasn't a good value. I think I'll stick with salads and appetizers here, and get an adult-sized burger elsewhere in the future. The music inside was too loud to have table conversation, too. The place was also freezing cold inside (it's 45° outside!) so we had to wear our coats the whole time. Lots of great potential considering the LaCenterra location, but won't be our first pick. Normally, I wouldn't come to Bar Louie, but we were here on a Thursday night for a Yelp Event and decided to give Bar Louie a try. After my experience at Bar Louie, I can understand why they decided to have a Yelp event here - to drive up the foot traffic because not many people want to come to this place. Disregarding the Yelp event snack items, we sat down at a small table outside of the patio. Surprise, surprise, it was tough getting a waitress out to our table. However after looking around, we did see other waiters/waitress servicing other tables. Us? No one. Clearly, as evident from other reviews, their service is their weakest point. I finally was able to chase down (literally) a waitress and ordered boneless wings with Old Bay Seasoning and a Quinoa Salad. I was expecting a long wait time on the food to come out but fortunately, the food came out after a short wait. However, we had no silverware, plates or even waters (This is a pet peeve of mine when entrees come out before the basics). The server made another trip to get us silverware and said our waters are shortly on its way. We enjoyed our food, which was actually quite delicious. Old Bay Seasoning works really well with fried foods apparently. The Quinoa Salad also came out well with flavor and quite a generous amount We finished our food and noticed two things were missing. Our waters and our waitress. Another 10 minutes of sitting around and no sight of our waitress. I finally get a scent of her and again, had to chase her down. Needless to say, just reading other people's reviews, Bar Louie has much to improve on. Food is good, but service is lacking. Be prepared for a near extinct wait staff and be extra patient. I came here after I ran across the woodlands location and got a free app with the app download. I came during lunch and found out that the lunch menu is actually very very good. Normally you expect minimal portions with a lunch item but they come out flown blow dinner sized. Their fries are thick cut and very crispy. Normally I dont comment on bar food but its worth mentioning. For $10 you have a couple options and they dont skimp. I could criticize they had the bartender working the whole place during lunch, its kind of messed up IMO but its ok if you aren't in a rush. We typically go for burgers for our entrees but this time I decided to get the charred lemon salad with added shrimp. This salad consists of romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, pretzel crumbs and Parmesan cheese. Protein can be added at an additional charge. Options include: Chicken, fried or seared. Shrimp, salmon or a vegetarian impossible option. This salad gets and 8/10 for me. It was good but something seemed to be missing. My husband had the Cali chicken club sandwich with a side of Caesar salad. The Chicken Club is made up of seared Chicken breast, Applewood smoked bacon, arugula, tomato, pickled red onions, giardiniera aioli, with guacamole on toasted sourdough. Side choices are fries or tots. Any other substitutions are extra. Whew! That's a sandwich! Lol hubby gives it a 10/10 The service was amazing! Josh was our server. It was a pleasure to meet Elite members, the DJ played great music and loved the photo booths. We sat at a table and asked 3 different waiters to clean the table. The 3rd waiter was awesome once he came to us he had the table cleaned, he had conversations with us, and took our order. My friend ordered chicken nachos. They had a good taste of flavor but they were barely warm. I had the samples from the Elite event. The spinach artichoke dip was not hot. This is my first yelp review. This place is so bad with party hosting that I had to come on here and warn people. I had been in contact with Kaitlyn since May about hosting a bridal shower here. That is 8 months in advance to the date we needed. She and I talked regularly, including the week of the shower. We show up to the restaurant and no one, not even the manager, knew what we were talking about. The tables weren't prepped, the buffet wasn't ready, mimosa station, nothing(these are all part of the contract). We had to help them set up the whole room and get everything ready. Fast forward to the end, the manager walks up with the check and they're charging us for 23 people (we only had 19) and no discount despite putting us to work. Also, charging us for two waiters. There was not a waiter in sight the entire time.. we picked up our own dishes. She then begins to blame us saying that it was our fault for booking it in the sugar land location. The contract and every single email showed the Katy location. Kaitlyn just booked the wrong place. Not to mention, no one could get ahold of Kaitlyn. She wasn't even there and wouldn't answer her phone. Long story short - after 30 minutes of them fighting us blaming everything on us, they changed it to 20 people and gave us $200 off. That's it. The manager was so rude. She has so much attitude and not a single apology from her. Not one. I really don't recommend hosting anything there EVER.
