Gibbet Hill Grill is one of those places that lives up to the hype- and then some. Definitely make a reservation because it gets crazy busy, especially during peak hours, and for good reason. From the moment you walk in, everyone is genuinely nice, welcoming, and friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. The food is consistently excellent, but my all-time favorite will forever be the goat cheese grilled cheese with tomato soup. It's pure comfort food perfection and honestly something I crave. Great atmosphere, great service, and food that never disappoints. Worth every visit- and every reservation you have to plan ahead for.

This restaurant has excellent ambiance, great service, and great food. We started off with the fresh bread & cornbread with their sweet butter. Next we had the charcuterie which I thought was definitely a little overpriced, but was solid. For our meals my wife got the chicken with mixed veggies. She thought it was somewhat bland. I got the lamb with couscous and thought that it was excellent. Perfectly med rare. I have a food allergy and they were very accommodating. Even going so far as to bring my food out with an allergy alert. Awesome touch. For drinks I got their signature punch and an old fashioned, both were very well done. All in all, this is a great spot. I thought the bread to start was very well done. The prices are a little heavier than I believe they should be.

Ah, Gibbet Hill. I have a bit of an affinity to this place since I got married at the Barn next door. Ever since then I've been coming the Grill at least one or twice a year and there are always pluses and misses with every visit. Pros: Food is generally quite good. The haddock and rigatoni entrees, mussels app, blueberry/strawbery rhubarb crisp, and carrot cake are my favorites. I love their cornbread as well. Service is ok for the most part (depends on the server and time of day). Cons: Steaks are not great. Once upon a time they made great steaks but something happened in the past 3 years. Medium rares come out charred on the outside (making the whole thing taste bitter) while staying reddish pink on the inside. For the price, this is not acceptable. Clam chowder was also not great last time I tried it- was a bit watery or something- but the server did say they had changed the recipe. Hopefully they will work on their steaks. Otherwise, this is still a good place to go for a nice dinner.

Gibbet is absolutely beautiful. Service was friendly. We had a great evening, enjoying every course. Our drinks were great, charcuterie board was small but was it mighty, it was so good. Our meals were all great, special shout out to the shishito peppers! We were all impressed with those. Dessert was delicious -- mango sorbet standing out as #1 and the cheesecake and cobbler don't fall very far behind!

3.5 stars rounded up. Erica K. was my waitress and knowledgeable with the menu. Ambiance was "American Gothic" with New England antique farm instruments and many of which decorate my properties. I had the clam chowdah and the fried chicken sammich. The chowdah was ok. Chowdah had bacon, which is not an ingredient I tolerate very well in New England clam chowda. The chicken sammich was average. The fried battering fell off and the chicken was not as moist as I would prefer. Saving the sammich was the apple slaw which had great flavor and saved the meal.

The food here is sooo yummy! Everything we had was delicious. We ordered a bunch of appetizers for such a good price for the volume of food you get. The prices were not as high. The interior is so cozy reminds me Of a beautiful restaurant in a cabin resort area. The staff and service was great as well. The parking area is big and reservations are easy to Make online. I am Coming back for sure

Went to Gibbet last night for a special date night with my husband. I was so excited for something a little more "upscale", but unfortunately was pretty disappointed. I feel like it's gone down hill a bit. We sat at the bar and service was just ok. Dinner was nothing to write home about- haddock and steak tips. I was most disappointed with the chocolate chip cookies. Mine are better at home :/ I give places I go a fair shake, but not feeling so inclined to rush back anytime soon.

Small-ish outfit near the golf course with about a dozen tables and a long bar with a few TV…read morescreens. Beer selections are minimal but just varied enough that you'll find something to your liking, whether mainstream or craft. The food menu is much deeper, nailing most of the pub food classics. As a burgers and wings guy, that was my focus, but there's enough greenery to satisfy my vegetarian wife too. GPH Burger: A well sourced blend, made into a patty of good thickness, grilled over an open flame, and housed in a potato bun with a generous allotment of toppings. Beautiful presentation, and most importantly, the flavor of the beef came through, never getting lost. You can order pink or no pink; I went pink, and on my first visit they nailed the temperature, color, and juiciness to go along with the crusty exterior. Good seasoning, and very enjoyable grill flavor. One of the best burgers I've had this year. Tried it again on a second visit, again requesting pink, but: a) not pink or juicy, and b) no flame grill flavor. Still a decent burger-- mostly because the addition of some nicely chewy and very strongly cured bacon picked up some of the slack. Third try, a repeat of the first, so two out of three ain't bad. Smashburger: Solid enough, though not as pronounced of surface crispness as a proper smashburger. Fries: Hand-cut, plentiful, dark, crispy, and just droopy enough. There's no salt on the table, but these were salted perfectly. Ketchup is an off brand, with a little more tartness than the standard, but it worked fine. Onion Rings: The thick ring, thick batter kind, and very crunchy. All depends on whether you like that style. Hot Dog: The menu lists them with fries included, but if you're already getting a burger, you can add one on without getting the extra fries. Toasted New England flat-sided bun, very juicy, grilled wiener, and toppings you can choose. Chili is a $3 add-on, but note there are beans included. I enjoyed mine and would get it again without the chili. Wings: Went Buffalo once, somewhat crisp, somewhat tender, nice sauce, with spices and seasonings, but not what I'd call Buffalo and not much coverage. These are baked, then fried, so missing a little something.went sweet chili on the next visit, and these were closer to the listed flavor and a little closer to wings that quench a wings craving.

Update after a few more visits has them down to a 4 based on inconsistency…read more -- Roast Chicken: Hearty fall/winter dish with crisp skin, herbs aplenty, and gravy underneath, with roasted carrots and mashed potatoes. A little dry in the interior. No longer on the menu as of last week. -- Grilled Shrimp: Plump shrimp whose paprika-heavy rub and grill flavor balanced the butteriness, with a pepper aioli joining as well. On top, pickled fennel. Underneath, grilled sourdough that soaked in the grill, butter, and seafood flavors. Fantastic but no longer on the menu as of last week. -- Forge & Vine Cheeseburger: All the same ingredients as on a Big Mac, only of much higher quality, on a thick burger of high quality. I've been hoping to relive the glory of my first burger here (see previous review), but it's been rocky. Good grill flavor and outer crusting, but medium to medium well when I ordered medium rare. (Yes, I mentioned it to the server and manager.) Still a pretty good burger, and the bacon I added this time was thick and walking the tightrope between crispy and bendy. But a big miss on hitting greatness again. So I gave it another chance the next visit, and it was again overdone. But this time I sent it back, and the one they sent out was very good. The most recent visit only required one try: excellent, with the right crust outside and proper pink and juicy inside, along with a solid assortment of vegetables and condiments. An exemplary burger-- when they cook it right. -- Calamari: An eye-catching appetizer with the mostly thin rings pretty much treated like chicken wings, with a spicy tangy glaze, an aïoli underneath, and some kimchi on top for presentation. Very good crunch and flavor, but thicker pieces would have allowed a better tasting of the seafood itself. Still very enjoyable and I'd get it again. -- Shrimp Cocktail: Solid job, good size, presented in ice with lemon wedges and a cocktail sauce a little light on the horseradish. -- Grilled Swordfish Meunière: A thick slab, lightly grilled, fairly. A thin brown butter sauce, capers, and sautéed mustard greens added some much needed moisture and oomph. No longer on the menu as of last week. -- Jimmy Nardello Peppers: Long, bright red, no heat, slightly sour, and somewhat fruity like peppadew, dressed up with garlic aioli, chimichurri, and coriander seed. Outstanding. Great beer pairing. Beautiful space. Good to outstanding service. Cody pours his heart and soul into the experience, exuding enthusiasm from the greeting through the check. Some might find it a little overdramatic, but after enduring too many AWOL and near-comatose servers elsewhere, I can't get enough of it. I like this place, and consider it good to very good, but it seems like the proteins (especially the grilled items) turn up a little too dry a little too often to consider them great. Their pricing is high but well worth it when the execution is there. When it's not, it's a too-expensive just-okay. Despite the inconsistency, going with a 4 based on the most recent visit being problem-free.

Their huge 275-seat event space was packed at tables for 4 to 8, for the two 1-hour sets of Live Dead & Brothers Band, an Allman Brothers - Grateful Dead group of legacy musicians from those bands and families!!! An authentic rockin' performance! They opened hot, with Feelin' Alright and Truckin', and ended hot with Midnight Rider, Ramblin' Man, and Jessica, with around 14 more between. The acoustics were excellent at our table, and we also took up our share of the crowded dance area :-) Their tour continues at least through Dec 2026. Our tickets were about $50 each. Service was fast and friendly, and they let us pull up one more chair for our group of nine. You can get crafted beers and cocktails. We settled in with ice cold regional beers, which honestly are just as distinctive as fancy craft beers. We got some food to share off their "concert menu", too. An entrée-size dish of rich creamy homemade Mac & Cheese, made with tasty aged Grafton Cheddar, soft slightly-al-dente curly Cavatappi pasta tubes, not-overcooked green beans, as i recall, crisply crusted with lightly-maple breadcrumbs. Very flavorful and satisfying. A sweet fresh bright Autumn Salad of greens, pecans, and bright beets, in tart vinaigrette. And juicy "Bull Run Classic" burgers with crisp lettuce, tasty firm tomato, mildly-sharp red onion, and, for one of them, an add-on of rich cheddar, all on a cloud-like brioche bun. They do ask for $20 per person food/beverage minimum for all shows, essentially an entree or a couple beverages each. That's about what we had planned to order anyway :-) This place knocked us out with their dedication to farm-to-table ingredients, sourced from more than 25 regional farms named on the dinner menu. We've never seem such an extensive list of the actual sources. Very cool! The Bull Run has been a tavern since 1741, named after the Battle of Bull Run in 1861, (or in another version, named for a brawl in the tavern at the same time :-), and has been run by the Guercios extended-family since 1946. It was a stop on the stagecoach route and a gathering place for the Revolutionary war. We loved the original wood, structure, and décor. The fireplaces were lovely. It's a huge venue. Bull Run has live music every week, and they're open Wed-Sun, but watch their schedule because dates vary, sometimes one day that week, sometimes all four! This show was in their 275-seat room. There's at least one larger room for around 400. Theres a little parking along Rt 2A, and much more out back across the covered bridge. Dont be put off by the rustic exterior. We loved this legendary performance at a legendary restaurant!
