High-end farm-to-table steakhouse experience with a beautiful view of open fields and a nice little nature walk hike up to Bancroft Castle on the side. We went for a family lunch and were met with kind service and deliciously fresh options. The cornbread with maple butter was a great starter alongside the Crab Dip that was loaded with fresh cheese and crab meat. Our steaks were all cooked well and definitely priced very fairly for a farm-to-table type of restaurant... we've paid a lot more for a lot worse! The flavors were all pretty hit or miss with the bone marrow butter packing a flavorful punch on our filets but the chicken pot pie missing a little more savoriness that were no stranger in the crab dip and butters. The steak and sunnies was a fun breakfast take on steak, eggs, and potatoes. The seasoning on the eggs and crunch on the potatoes left the best impression. And for dessert, our kid's chocolate chip cookie was a little hard, almost refrigerated? Had it tasted and felt a little fresher, we might've followed up with some milk and cookies for the rest of us. Overall the ambience and service made the experience meet exactly what we were looking for when making a reservation here for our family lunch. This restaurant has excellent ambiance, great service, and great food. We started off with the fresh bread & cornbread with their sweet butter. Next we had the charcuterie which I thought was definitely a little overpriced, but was solid. For our meals my wife got the chicken with mixed veggies. She thought it was somewhat bland. I got the lamb with couscous and thought that it was excellent. Perfectly med rare. I have a food allergy and they were very accommodating. Even going so far as to bring my food out with an allergy alert. Awesome touch. For drinks I got their signature punch and an old fashioned, both were very well done. Ah, Gibbet Hill. I have a bit of an affinity to this place since I got married at the Barn next door. Ever since then I've been coming the Grill at least one or twice a year and there are always pluses and misses with every visit. Pros: Food is generally quite good. The haddock and rigatoni entrees, mussels app, blueberry/strawbery rhubarb crisp, and carrot cake are my favorites. I love their cornbread as well. Service is ok for the most part (depends on the server and time of day). Cons: Steaks are not great. Once upon a time they made great steaks but something happened in the past 3 years. Medium rares come out charred on the outside (making the whole thing taste bitter) while staying reddish pink on the inside. For the price, this is not acceptable. Clam chowder was also not great last time I tried it- was a bit watery or something- but the server did say they had changed the recipe. Hopefully they will work on their steaks. Otherwise, this is still a good place to go for a nice dinner. read more

It's in MetroWest, but it could actually make it in Boston. It's a great steakhouse and a wonderful recreated Barn in Grafton, Massachusetts. The quality of the steaks are awesome. The service is well above anything in the area and we had dinner in the silo room which we highly recommend if you can get it. There is a few places in the area but nothing this high scale. Went to Gibbet last night for a special date night with my husband. I was so excited for something a little more "upscale", but unfortunately was pretty disappointed. I feel like it's gone down hill a bit. We sat at the bar and service was just ok. Dinner was nothing to write home about- haddock and steak tips. The flavors didn't go together or at least didn't complement each other. The result was good with a strange taste profile. None of the six of us at dinner could figure it out except that perhaps the recipes were wrong. The best dish was the Yellowfin Tuna appetizer with an avocado-wasabi puree. We all loved it. And the tandoori carrots were nice, but not great. The Gnocci dish looked like a salad when delivered. The arugula was pulled high. It gave a bitter taste right next to the mint. The potato crusted haddock was not particularly good, except that it was covered in an excellent sweet corn and bacon chowder. We probably would have loved a bowl of the chowder, but it didn't mesh well with the fish. All in all, I think the restaurant is over rated and the food is not great. We haven't been here in several months because we live closer to The Bancroft and normally go there. We had seats at the bar and the bar staff was great. The issue was that when our entrees finally came my filet, although delicious, was not as hot as it should have been and the sides were barely warm (baked potato and I think Bok choy). Because we were hungry I didn't flag anyone down to let them know, but when the bartender came back to clear the plates, I did let her know so she could tell the kitchen staff. The other entree, haddock was fine. She did not charge for a dessert we ordered. The people next to us ordered a rib eye and chicken pot pie, that was served after ours, piping hot - steam rising. In the future I would definitely let someone know right away about the issue to avoid disappointment. read more

Jennie & I both thought it was very good and well-balanced. Aviation Fizz was pretty good and well balanced.Castle & Key G&T was mixed stronger than I feel it should have been, primarily because of the prominent anise in the gin. ** NOTE: They carry a nice array of gins. ** While I don't eat crab dip, Jennie & her folks said it was fantastic. I ate a few of the toasts that came with it, thoroughly enjoying them. I had the sirloin tips with sides mashed Yukon & roasted parsnip & cranberry. The tips were prepared medium-well, cooked to perfection. While they were definitely very good, I did feel they were missing a pinch of something. They needed just a hint more flavor. The Yukon mashed potatoes were good, but basically what you'd expect for mashed potatoes in a restaurant such as this. The parsnip with cranberries were an interesting offering. I was very glad I chose them. Jennie ordered the Crispy Potato-Crusted Haddock, which was served on a "bed" of corn chowder. I had a few bites and thoroughly enjoyed them. Jennie, days later, is still raving that this was the best corn chowder she's ever had. The haddock was also excellent. The pairing of the two could almost be called "genius"! My MIL ordered the side of Mashed Yukon... then added the Pot Pie to her order 10 minutes later. I only had a pinch of the crust, finding it to be very fluffy, but with a pleasant density. She really enjoyed the pot pie, and would definitely recommend it. She enjoyed it for the following two days! My FIL had the Porterhouse. I was a sizable (24oz) cut. He clearly enjoyed the steak, also for a couple extra days. He has continued to mention how great it was. Our server, Erica, was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. Second try at birthday dinner and was very happy with the food and service. Gibbet (pronounced JIB-bet) Hill is a lovely 500 acre farm. The views from the restaurant were beautiful. We were lucky to sit right by the large, long window looking out at the cows and rolling hills, there was even a small crane wondering around the flowers/garden! Service was impeccable, our server was knowledgeable and so nice and gave great recommendations on the wine. Every day they post the fresh items picked from the garden. The warm rolls and cornbread with maple syrup butter were so yummy, I could've eaten 10 buckets. We started with the crab dip which was very cheesy and heavy. Definitely something to share as I could only eat a few bites. My filet was perfectly cooked and came with two sides. The potatoes were a runny consistency but they tasted great and the mushrooms were perfect and flavorful. Pot pie was delicious and came out piping hot in a skillet. Filled with potatoes, peas, carrots, and soft chunks of chicken. Kids drinks were large and only $5. Kids ice cream sandwich ($2) had homemade cookies filled with vanilla ice cream. Lavender creme brûlée was tasty and perfect sugary crust. Blueberry sorbet was so pretty and huge! Coffee came with the cutest cream container. Do they sell those!? After dinner our server suggested walks on the farm but we were unable to find the chickens or pigs but saw a ton of cows! There is also a part of a castle somewhere on the property as well. I called to confirm my dinner reservation and was offered the 7:45 pm earlier time slot instead of the 8:00 pm, which I happily accepted. Upon entering the restaurant, however, the wait for a table was crazy! There were lines and crowds throughout the restaurant. Our reservation was for a Saturday night so I understand wait times but I feel like the restaurant could control the crowds a little bit better so it's easy for customers to move. It was our first time here. So, we were explained that if we wanted to order a drink while waited for our table, we would need to ask a server. The bar seating was reserved for customers who wanted to eat dinner as well. That was no problem, we just had trouble finding an area to stand while we flagged down a cocktail waitress. About 20 minutes later, we were sat down in the upstairs dining area and our seats were fabulous. Our server was fabulous. And the food was fabulous! We really had a good time. We ordered the: 1.) Vegetable crudités which came with three dips: hummus, baba ganoush, and beet tasiki 2.) Crispy Potato Crusted Haddock 3.) Seared Halibut sitting in corn polenta like mash Everything was delicious. The vegetable crudite was delicious! I thought my husband was going to hate it but the dips were delicious and the veggies were so fresh! I was really pleased! Our main dishes were beautiful to look at. My husband said his dish was perfect. He really liked the potato crusted fish and thought the sear was well done. He's a fan of chowder so he loves how rich his was. I tried the chowder and thought even one bite was super heavy but that's just me! The halibut I ordered was seared to perfection. My only complaint was that I was given a fork to eat my meal with instead of a spoon. The corn mash underneath my fish was soupy and hard to scoop up with my fork. There were also chunks of large vegetables in mash like fennel onions. I found that confusing because of the mix in textures. Other than that though I was really pleased! TL:DR Reminds me of all those locally owned places serving the same frozen food menus... but not frozen and much nicer. Great service and great ambiance and a great view if its still light out. The price to what you get here is pretty good. Been here twice now for dinner and both times was very pleased with the food. The menu is very similar to the dime a dozen places that seem to be owned by different people but all have the same food. Im sure you know what i mean. Every place has the exact same apps that taste the same and are just plated slightly different. This has that same vibe but you can tell they arent ordering their food from the same frozen food supplier. Same menu but freshly made. Nothing thats going to blow you away but certainly a step above most places with the same vibe. A great neighborhood place but certainly not fine dinning. Came here for a weekday dinner. It was fairly busy but we were still sat quickly. Service was a little rough. Our waiter was very pleasant but we rarely saw him. The fried artichokes were great. The steak tips salad was good. The filet mignon was terribly over cooked. I asked for medium rare, more on the rare side, and it arrived well done. How it started since I walked in, My elderly (80) mother was at the bar because the children in the front told her she had to wait for us (we were parking the car), first red flag. Sit the elderly lady at her table while she waits for us to park. Then when my wife (who is not white) walked in the child says "omg that scared me" what scared you. When we asked you didn't say anything. I get we traveled here to eat because my parents can't drive far but my wife is a professional chef from the CIA. This level of service is extremely unacceptable. If you are not white. Don't come here. I can't stress this enough. I stayed to not disrespect my parents because they were excited to try this place and this was my birthday lunch from them (my twin and wife left btw) Waiter was rushy as well. We had dinner on February 11, 2026, to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. We were greeted warmly, congratulated, and seated quickly. Sean, our server, definitely helped make us feel celebrated, and tended to our every need without hovering. I had the hanger steak, mashed potatoes, and caesar salad. All were prepared perfectly, and we had no room for dessert when the time came. My wife had the small filet, baked potato, and roasted squash. The filet was well cooked, the potato a little underdone but edible, and the squash was not well roasted but again edible. I think next time we'll both opt for the salad served before the main. We visited about a week prior and had one of the worst cuts of steak I've ever been served, which made us hesitant to return. However, we already had reservations for last night tied to a concert, so we gave the restaurant another chance. Unfortunately, the experience was significantly worse. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time, which immediately set the tone. The food execution completely broke down: * My wife ordered salmon without the sauce. It arrived as if the request was never communicated. * I ordered a burger medium, assuming it would be a safe choice. It came out raw in the center--wet, purple-red, and unacceptable. * My mother-in-law's baked haddock arrived ice cold. She never complains, and even she couldn't eat it. All three dishes were sent back. I spent years working as a cook and understand how difficult consistency can be, so my tolerance is high. When my burger returned, it was clear it hadn't been corrected properly. Having worked as a cook and dealt with burgers being sent back, I know that once a burger is cooked too far on the outside, you can't simply throw it back on the grill and continue cooking it to fix the center. That's exactly what happened here--the burger had obviously been pressed back onto the grill and left unattended, resulting in a burnt exterior with a dominant charred flavor. When I paid the bill, I left a note explaining how poor the experience was and that we would not be returning. There was minimal acknowledgment from our server, and the manager wouldn't make eye contact or come to the table. There was also no follow-up afterward--no call, no email, no attempt at service recovery. For a restaurant charging premium prices, the food execution, service recovery, and accountability were abysmal. We won't be returning. read more
