We went on Valentines day and every table was presented with a rose on the table. Not realizing we were one of the last tables to leave we didnt feel rushed by staff at all and were passed more roses before leaving. TIME TO MOVE ON I GUESS I've been to Woods Hill Table about a dozen times over the years. Breakfast service when new, and many dinners since. The ambiance is polished and cozy like a posh UK country gastropub, but tables are a bit crowded. *** THE GOOD *** Our first dinner at Woods Hill was brilliant. Charming and skilled service.. smoothly timed delivery. I inquired on the steak tartar and was told the owner had a plate every night. SOLD... and it did not disappoint. Fine uniform prep I seldom see, quail egg, NOT drowning in cornichons, served chilled.... impeccable. A wild boar ragu pappardelle for entre was decent, but boar was more broken down (pulled?) than I prefer and so there weren't umami pops of flavor from chunks of boar... this is perhaps a preference difference. We had found a great spot. Woods Hill Table was a gem. *** THE BAD *** Fast forward through time and the last four meals have been a disappointment. For example, I brought a 15yr chef friend for steak tartar and frites and a cab franc... the plated dishes looked lovely but were pretty much room temperature, which makes the texture a challenge rather than a treat. Unknown if this is a heat lamp issue or room temp beef used in prep, either way the dishes were warm. Still better than the mayo puck served by a certain Boston Bovine eatery, but I was a bit embarrassed at having talked up the dish and made the arrangements. Decided it was an off night and would try again in the future: A few months later the tartar still looked lovely (a bit coarse) and WAS nicely chilled, but was tough chewing and imbalanced flavors. Still a lovely restaurant, but time to move on from the tartar I guess. *** THE UGLY *** Recently returned for a rare night out (kids do that) and the place is still packed with a charming but busy atmosphere. A charming, if busy atmosphere. Won't knock attentiveness to the table as a busy night is always tough. THE FOOD - very inconsistent I should have taken a salad as they looked elegant and ethereally fresh and light.. as if floating on the plates. On a cold winter night, I had a craving though, and was surprised that the fries were scraps... very salty... and oddly chewy and without crunch or crispness. Junk ENTREE - Icelandic Cod a la Plancha - a mess. - While the sauce was fantastic... light and sweetly complex, I wish the serving as a smaller/deeper dish with more sauce ... it was a highlight but chilled almost immediately in the unwarmed broad pasta bowl. - The blue roasted potatoes were not my thing, and I wish they instead had been little islands of puree that I would scoop with other bites or sauce. - "Jumbo lump crab" is flat out lie... forget visions of "jumbo lump crab" elegantly arrayed on that lovely sauce. You'll get a sweaty little shredded wad, tucked under the fish. - The fish... that poor Cod... was wildly overcooked and mushy. The seared crust was very thick and difficult to cut through and the mushy fish (overcooked or thawed too fast?) would squirt out from underneath. There were a couple of good bites farthest from the seared crust that faintly whispered of how delicate and flaky the filet should have been. TAKEAWAY: Don't order seafood at Woods Hill. Why so worked up about bad fish in boston (hardly rare)? With a cautious eye, the staff almost immediately asked after my first bite if the food was ok. Much like a sommelier sniffing the cork and imperceptibly wincing, but serving the wine and carefully looking to see if customers would notice that it's off. I replied the food was "OK" and continued to pick at the plate. We don't often get out for dinner these days and I didn't want my disappointment to spoil the experience for others. We had no time for the kitchen to remake it anyhow, and I no longer send food back; I cut my losses and find better spots. I hope things turn around. This could be a great spot again someday. read more

Belated review for Jan 2025 visit. Awesome food and service with laid back vibe. Kid friendly too! Came with some friends and their kiddo for dinner and absolutely loved the food. Don't let the unassuming laid back vibe fool you, the food here is seriously good! We got a round of drinks (delish!), oysters (new england ousters are the best!), and pierogis (didn't try but others enjoyed) to start. We got tea smoked duckleg (those of us that got this loved it, must order!), salmon, and kids spaghetti (kiddo really liked this one and the parents that tried did too loll). Took our chocolate budino desserts to go which was still amazing the next day. Throughout the meal, server was very attentive with periodic check ins and was accommodating in providing a high chair and crayons for coloring so highly recommend for young families. All in all, it's a home run folks! I'm still dreaming of the duck! read more

We were recommended to stop in for dinner by the front desk at a nearby hotel and I'm glad we did it! The hostess was able to open extra seats at the bar for us, even though they were marked reserved. The three bartenders took great care of us and we had a great dinner. The drink list is expansive and this is the type of bar where the bartenders are knowledgeable and can make great recommendations. The oysters were delicious to start with before our dinners arrived. We had the Monkfish and Mushroom Risotto. Both were so fresh and full of flavor. The portions were great for the price and we left very happy. The bread and butter was also a perfect side while we waited even though everything arrived quickly. We will definitely be back if we find ourselves in this area again. read more

WHT is always stellar at cocktails. They usually change up the menu and while not every new item is out of the park amazing, many are. Their cocktails, however, are always consistently amazing. Every choice is a safe choice. One of my favorite ways to dine at WHT is to grab a seat at the bar when we make an impromptu visit without reservations. It's nice to do apps and drinks while enjoying the chill vibe. The bartenders here are top notch and their sister restaurant Adelita's also has the same consistently amazing cocktails as well. read more

In general I have to say we normally have a good experience here. The food is soli, the drinks are great and the staff is friendly and accommodating for the most part. We did find a worm in our salad once and that was a bit unappetizing - but I suppose it is farm to table so there is comfort in the fact that it's healthy food lol!! Down Hill Table A Deeply Disappointing Experience -- Poor Service, No Accountability What should have been an enjoyable evening for one our "go-to" regular spots, turned into one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've ever had. While the drinks were fine, everything else fell well short of acceptable. After placing our burger order, we waited over 20 minutes -- only to watch a couple who arrived after us receive what was clearly our food. When we flagged this with our server, our burgers still didn't arrive. We were essentially forced to order another round of drinks just to continue waiting, with no explanation or apology offered. When we finally got an answer from bar staff, we were told the delay was due to cooking a medium-well burger -- hardly a justification for the extended wait or the mix-up. By the third time we raised the issue, staff were not only unapologetic but actively dismissive, showing zero acknowledgment that anything had gone wrong. Their attitude was demeaning, and their sense of entitlement was frankly shocking. To make matters worse, other patrons who overheard our complaints -- and who had received their food ahead of us -- chose to direct insults at us rather than minding their own business. The atmosphere was deeply uncomfortable. When we finally stopped the manager, Ian, to seek even a simple acknowledgment of the situation, his response was staggering. He told us it was "two against one" -- and walked away. No apology. No accountability. Nothing. Our espressos were comped, which felt like a token gesture in the face of the complete breakdown in service and basic professionalism we experienced. Went with family. The menu is not that extensive but the food was very good. 3 people had the salmon and liked it. One had the steak, one the risotto and one the burger. We started with shared orders of oysters, bluefish pate and eggplant. All of the appetizers were excellent. Desserts were good. One issue - 3 ordered the ice cream, 2 with the afrigato( coffee syrup). The portions of ice cream with the afrigato which was an extra charge were smaller than the plain one. Nestled in the downtown area of Concord, this farm to table is a great spot for a family dinner or date night. All of the ingredients in the menu options are locally sourced. Even though we were seated at a 2-top, the bar seemed enticing for a future visit, fully stocked with local spirits and beverages. The food was very good. If the only issue was that the duck was a little tough, everything else was excellent. From the steak tartar, which was beautifully seasoned, and the squash soup which several bowls of would have made a great dinner to the duck and salmon it was quite a good dinner. My wife and I had dinner at Woods Hill Table today, a restaurant we've enjoyed in the past. It was quite hot today, over 90 when we arrived. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold; I'm quite sure it was below 70 degrees. We both noticed it when we came in and when we were seated, I let our waiter know that we thought it was much too cold. He said he would speak to the management. He returned to tell us that they were not going to make a change, needing to keep the kitchen cool, but offered us blankets. I resisted the temptation to talk about the environmental implications and energy costs of misusing air conditioning, so we got on with dinner. My wife ordered a glass of Cabernet, Semolina Crostini, and Summer Risotto. I ordered a California Chardonnay, Fairytale Eggplant, and a Mista salad. My wine was not good, the eggplant was swimming in vinegar and was simply inedible; I sent it back. I ate most of the salad, which was edible but not much more (again too much vinegar). My wife's Semolina Crostini was quite good and she enjoyed her wine, but the Summer Risotto smacked of Boston Glob food preparation -- take a random assortment of good ingredients, prepare them somehow but without any real knowledge or skill and hope for the best. This is not how good cooking is done. My wife ate little of it. This dinner was in celebration of my wife's birthday and was very, very disappointing. We paid the (considerable) bill and left without having dessert, which we instead had at Bedford Farms in Concord at the train station. We enjoyed the ice cream and watching the trains come and go. I said to my wife "we should have come here for dinner" and she agreed. I write this review not in anger, but in hopes that what I say will contribute to fixing what appears to be a problem in the kitchen of a formerly fine restaurant. read more

The reviews for this place are mixed but we gave it a go. On a scale of 1-10 it got a 6 from both me and my wife. Ambience is Modern and upbeat. Service is prompt and attentive. Food quality is just good. My wife had the duck leg not the leg and thigh so a small Portion. I had the bolognese which is not really a bolognese. It's a meat oSauce with very little meat and highly acidic. The panzanella salad was ordinary. Bread looked to be deep fried. The beet salad was ordinary also. Two wines so with tip $175.00. Not worth the money. I almost opted for the burger because the reviews were not consistently good. Imagine dropping $175 for a burger and a duck leg and a couple of ordinary salads. An unassuming location with a great menu and staff. The ambiance is very laid back and casual. The food and drink are fantastic. Our server Dan is very knowledgeable on the menu, and very friendly. The manager Ian was our sommelier and he was also great. The drinks are well balanced and unique expressions of classics. The food was extremely flavorful. We enjoyed the beet salad, duck frille crostini, pork belly, and pastrami pierogi appetizers. For mains, we had potato crusted cod, smoked duck leg, fusille with bolognese, and short rib. Outstanding food and service at this gem in West Concord. We were well-served by Rachel, and because we had to attend theatre she made sure that the service was prompt but leisurely. We had the steak frites (perfect) after enjoying the oysters and wood grilled broccoli. The big flower Cabernet was awesome as an accompaniment. Dessert was Chocolate Hazelnut cheesecake and yogurt panna cotta. Woods Hill is superior in all they do, and I will make this my "go-to" in West Concord. In fact, my meal at Woods Hill was not much more expensive than the West Village Tavern across the street (pub food). The food at Woods Hill is locally sourced, and it has "fine dining" without the pretentiousness often associated with the term. read more

A new, high quality, and cozy American restaurant in my hometown (well, still seems new to me) that used to be a smelly but good market I occasionally went to growing up. The area is becoming more and more upscale over time and this restaurant showing up was probably the most notable change. I finally got the chance to eat there and the food was pretty phenomenal. My mom and I had a lovely day visiting Concord, and this was the perfect note to end on. Every course was savory and beautiful. Ordered the crostini appetizer and beef tartare to start, and then the fusseli dish and duck confit for the main courses. They were accommodating by helping us push our reservation back a bit later since we were running late. The server was very attentive and friendly and helpful with dietary preferences. We have been to Concord several times in the past three years and always attempt to eat at at least one different restaurant on each trip. Woods Hill Table has been on our "Concord Restaurants Bucket List" for a while and we were able to get a table on a Saturday night. (a nod to the host staff for being able to accommodate a late addition to our party size). While the food was "good", none of us were "raving" about it. We tried the broccoli appetizer (as recommended in other reviews) and enjoyed it. I was less enthused about the (well reviewed) burger. The mesclun salad was very good, according to our vegetarian party member (but the vegetarian options that night were slim). The duck was "okay". Probably the best dish of the night was the homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream. Luckily, we asked our (apparently new-ish) waiter for the flavors after reviewing the dessert menu. All in all, we enjoyed the evening (ambience), but the meal and service weren't "great" for the price. My husband and I took his mother (and father) out for Mother's Day dinner, and our experience was amazing! It was easily the best Mother's Day meal in a restaurant that we ever had. We loved: cocktails (especially Jadore Labor): pork belly appetizer, cavatelli with morels and peas (collective favorite), pan seared half chicken and poached trout. Yogurt panna cotta and chocolate hazelnut cheesecake were also delicious. But it was the service that made the night so special. Our server, Donya, was attentive (but not overly so) and offered great recommendations, and managers Ian and Chandra were super-nice and accommodating. Highly recommend!!! read more

The cocktails and appetizers are very good. Our group ordered a number of vodka and whiskey drinks, and the pierogi, pork butt, and potato apps. It was great. The entrees, and service, was bad. Straight up. Half the group ordered the fusilli with lobster, which was recommended and was told included half a lobster. The food arrived with 3,4 bites of lobster in a watery broth, and very salty sausage. It was $44 a plate. The steak frites were cold, small, with little flavor. The fries could have been from Burger King. A few people in our group only received 1 drink in the 2 hours we were there. No cutlery arrived for some time. However it did appear the waitstaff was understaffed. The ambiance and space is great. Buyer beware. You may get played the same. read more

The food at Woods Hill has been fantastic since it opened its door and that holds true several years later. The grilled broccoli appetizer is a must order. My husband swears by the tar tar with a quail egg. I don't think we've ever been disappointed with an entree. And although they sound great, we rarely have room for dessert. One thing that can be hit and miss is the service. They have professional wait staff and bar backs and food servers for each table. I blame that splatter shot for people occasionally being lost in the shuffle. On a recent Friday night we did not see anyone for :40 full minutes after getting our entree. Finally a bar back had pity on us and brought us take away boxes. That isn't casual fine dining. Again- great food and mostly good service. read more

We've been here twice now, both times for Special occasions. We have found Woods Hill Table to be delightful. The use of organic measures in preparation of the syrups made my sometimes-finicky Grandson's Shirley Temple one of his favorites ever. From the appetizers to the entrees and desert, everything is very flavorful and fresh. Also, the attentiveness and enthusiasm of the staff makes for a terrific experience. The menu was very confusing. They had trout fish. When I ordered it the waiter told us it was actually like salmon. She was correct--it was a very untasty dish. The waiter was nice before we ordered. We never saw her again. She never stopped by the table to even ask do we needed anything or if the food was okay. We had to wait 5min to ask for salt and paper as no one would even look in the direction. This is the second time we go to this place: the first and last. Stay away! read more

I have been wanting to dine at Woods Hill Table since they opened, but was always saving it for a special occasion. Having now dined there, I don't know why. There is something worn about this restaurant. Our waiter was very nice and I can't fault her. Most of the food was very good: the Wood-grilled Crostini appetizer, and especially the desserts, Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake, and Strawberry Rhubarb Shortcake. But here is why I can't rate it higher: The Pork Chop was tough and fat-laden. As if the chef knew it would be difficult to cut, it had been pre-cut for me. The accompaniments were somehow tasteless. It was my birthday dinner, and I should have sent it back. I was sorry that my friend was treating me. She liked her Spaghetti Bolognese. I can't recommend Woods Hill Table to anyone else, and won't return. And I noticed I am not the only reviewer to damn the Pork Chop. read more

There are 5-star reviews for restaurants that do what they do - very well. Then there are 5-star reviews for FIVE STAR restaurant. Wood Hill Table was the best experience at a 5-star restaurant we have had since Quebec and New York City before the pandemic. This place did everything right, from the table sitting for my wife's birthday brunch, to 5-star service, to wonderful food. With the multitude of choices, we talked over many options with our waitress. She knew not only the food, but how it was prepared and helped us pick some shared plates. We stared with the steak tartare topped with quail egg, delightfully done but the height of the meal was the Broccoli Wood Grilled. Charred on the outside, crunchy on the inside the caramelizing of the vegetable and seasoning with fired leeks and aioli was to die for. We added the beat salad - done perfectly with a champagne vinegar dressing and then split the potato Gnocchi - and still brought a little of most of the dish's home for a light snack on the deck. Located in West Concord, the vibe and the décor was relaxing elegant and we found great service and no phony airs. Brunch with Tea (no drinks) came out to $110 but I would go back in a minute. A true Five-star review for a five-star restaurant. We will be back for other special occasions. read more

I am writing my review off of one dinner experience. I love a great meal, and don't mind paying for it, but the food here was so bland and underwhelming. I was disappointed that we spent so much here, and loved nothing but oysters - which are not chef prepared. We started off with oysters and steak tartare. The oysters were fabulous, but the steak tartare lacked any flavor and was bland overall. I got the scallop entree for dinner, which came with these squid ink rice balls. Everything was so dry and so bland. My partner got the duck leg and it was so small for the price, had barely any meat, and was quite dry as well. We came here to celebrate a new job, but leaving we thought on the way home that the bread and oysters were the best part - which is sad for the price of the meal. I came here for a birthday dinner in the private room, and both the food and service were excellent! Since we had a large party, we tried almost everything on the menu and there were no complaints. The beet salad is fresh and delicious - the pistachio cream is a nice buttery and creamy contrast to the beets. The Tallow Fries are so flavorful and don't taste like your typical French fry because of the tallow. If you're not a ketchup person like me, ask for their garlic aioli to dip - this was a hit at our table! The Honey & Chili Shishito Peppers are very good as well. The Scallops a la Plancha were my favorite. Not only is it beautifully plated, but every part of the dish is thoughtful and delicious. The scallops are so fresh and seared perfectly, and pair well with the sweet creamy corn sauce and pickled pepperoncini. The Bucatini Bolognese is the only thing I thought they could do better as it was too tomatoey for my taste. The tomatoes needed to be cooked down more. The Buttermilk Panna Cotta is light and the grape coulis cuts through nicely. The coconut sorbet is much creamier than your typical sorbet and more like a light coconut ice cream. The drinks are also very good, especially the Harriet Quinby and Strawberry Spritz. read more

Unrealized potential here to be "one of the greats" if management could adjust a little. We put an order in with our waiter - and he was then off to other adventures... because he was apparently expected to serve the whole crowded room. Short staffed. Lots of friendly staff around who were not actually waiters, which was why it seemed weird that so many tables seemed underserved; so many staff who could not take orders. Anyway, for now that was it for us. Baby won't be ignored. A miss. Seemed like a really nice place otherwise, though. Great people, great steak. Now why would I give three stars to a restaurant that has a good rep in Concord..... Service! We came to this location because we had gone to the Seaport location for my birthday which was a top-notch experience so with that said, I assumed that the Concord location would just be equally good or possibly better. The good part was that the food was very decent but different from the seaport location... For one the portions were bigger and more traditional. The restaurant was definitely comfortable and more laid back but there were a lot of aspects that were lacking. Service: Who's on First? We had a welcoming host and we were seated comfortably. The server's assistant was very sweet and welcoming so I just took that person as our server and when we were ready to order our food, we learned that that he wasn't our server. Our server (Server I) finally arrived and took our order he seemed very polite and knew the menu quite well but then all of a sudden, he disappeared! And I get that it got a little busy but there was ZERO follow up from him and even forgot to give my husband his drink. So we had to flag him down the whole time. No, it wasn't crazy busy but I could see that this man was training somebody else but didn't check on us at all and this other server (Server II) asked us how things were and we clearly didn't start our entrees...if there was a changing of the guards no one said anything. Server I seemed busy and in fact, I saw him sit down at the table for a while (is this normal at a restaurant of this caliber?) where he seemed to know the clients WELL and was very attentive and huggy to them. Look, I'm all about being friendly to people you personally know but dude you have a job to do and your tip percentage went down. There was no follow-up of ,"do you want coffee" or "can I get you anything else'" and in fact another non-enthusiatic non- smiling server assistant asked if we wanted dessert and we had already ordered dessert from flagging Server I who seemed to be busy with his friends. Then Server II just handed our bill without even asking us if we need anything else. This experience was a great disappointment for me. It seemed that there was a lot of summer help with no smiles. I couldn't tell if there was a Manager on site but nobody checked up on us and that was especially disappointing with the food selection we ordered. It is my opinion that there needs some serious improvement here in training. It was unprofessional. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem having a more casual environment but my experience in a diner was much more attentive than this place. Now the food: The Saving Grace I have to admit that the food was good. For starters, I liked the welcome artisan bread, my charred rabe and the beet salad was delicious. My husband ordered the Steak Frites and that was a delicious dish and perfectly cooked medium rare. The corn risotto was simple but good. My rack of lamb was cooked perfectly at medium rare but to be honest the sides were not my cup of tea. I didn't mind the chard green peppers but that pickled relish garnish cheapened the quality of the meat which was placed on some sort of sour cream that made the meat taste slightly chalky. The lamb was good and cooked perfectly so I didn't seem to mind it but this dish should be sticking with good old traditional mint sauce. And what's with the non-sharpened knives!? I swear it was like cutting meat with a butter knife! Finally, the mocha dome was good if you're a chocolate fan but it almost look like a tartufo with not overly sweet chocolate mousse. I hate giving lousy reviews but I have to be honest because I really believe that this could have been a perfect experience but it service was a huge let down. While there were a number of open tables, we were first sat in a corner right up against a service station. They did move us when we asked, but that should have been the last table sat. As noted in many other reviews, service was slow and less than attentive. My cocktail was excellent. My dinner, sadly, was not. I had the chicken, which is billed as pan seared on the menu. While the meat was juicy and tender, pan seared it was not. The skin was flaccid, and not at all enticing. The accompaniments to the bird were unconventional, and while it sounded enticing on the menu, it just didn't work for me and the whole dish had a weird flavor. read more
