We moved from Chicago, IL to West Linn, OR 6 years ago and I had hoped to find a hair dresser and manicurist equal to what I had for so many years. And - I did at Gigi (Johnny hair and Lyn manicure)! They used the same products as I had been using, they were extremely pleasant, professional, and always on time. I also really like being able to book appointments online (and change if I need to). And, a big PS, I have to believe that the very old reviews on Yelp were for staff who are no longer at the salon. read more

Seriously the worst mani/pedi I have ever received. I have been getting my nails done every other week for the last 10 years so I have had my share of good and bad. This was by far the WORST ever. The nail tech actually looked afraid of the nail file. She barely touched my toenail...needless to say, they are way longer than they should be. She didn't soften cuticles at all and just used a metal cuticle pusher to push them. Not only was it painful, but then she didn't even cut or clean them up at all. The polish job was awful as well. Such a waste of money. I should have known when the nail tech said they were the step child location! No kidding. And what's worse, I emailed over a week ago and no response at all! read more

I love Gigi Aveda Salon and Spa in West Linn. I've been coming here and bringing my family for years. It is always a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of my busy life and a time to take care of me. It is all about the staff here. Johnny, the owner, has a keen eye for talent and building a great team. The stylists are top notch and they obviously have a great team dynamic. I have to give a shoutout to Amaree. She is a fantastic stylist and makes sure to get things just right. Look her up. I highly recommend her. I also recommend all the staff at Gigi. They know all my kids and my wife. It smells so nice here with the natural botanical Aveda products. Mmmmmm. Talented staff, a beautiful and convenient location, and consistently great results. What's not to like? Aveda is a very open salon. Meaning it has a lot of room for echo. Its always clean and upkept. I have only had my hair done by Morgan and eye brows waxed by her as well. I believe Jennifer gave me a Pedicure once. Morgan is wonderful with hair. Always cheerful and smiling. She is awesome! My one time pedicure was great!! I've only gone once due to no massage chair. I'm not a huge bench fan but at least I was able to keep my feet in the tub while sitting straight up! I like Aveda alot and recommend it. My one and only experience with this salon was awful. I was pretty shocked by how bad it was considering how nice it looks and its location. I made an appointment for a Brazilian blowout with one stylist who offered to match the price I was getting elsewhere for my first treatment with him, which was very nice. A few days before the appointment finally rolled around, I got a call saying that stylist was no longer working at Gigi and I was moved to another stylist who agreed to honor the price the first one had offered me. But the day after THAT, I got another call telling me that they double booked my appointment time and asked me to move a 2-3 hour hair appointment back three hours (with very little notice). I did not like that but really needed the service, so I made time for it. I arrived on time for my appointment, and the person I was scheduled with was no where near ready for me when I got there. I waited around for about a half an hour and then decided that I didn't want to give my business to a place that can't even keep set appointments. So, I told the front desk that I was just going to cancel, and not only did they do nothing to try to compensate me for the bad experience, they informed me that if I left, I would lose the price for the service that I was offered initially. What?? I live very close to this salon and I routinely get pretty pricey hair treatments. I was looking to make this my new go-to spot, but I will never go back there again. Avoid! read more

Johnny, you have lost us and our family and friends at your location. I was not prepared to encounter an altercation with your "manager". I had an appointment on Friday and arrived a few moments early. I stood around with my child (who was having hair done there). To the side of the entrance your manager and another employee were either mixing hair colour, or prepping of some sort. I assumed when they were finished we would be noticed and greeted. However your manager and the employee didn't look at us, and there was no one at the front either. After several minutes I walked to the back area where your manager was working on hair, and asked if we could be helped. I inquired as to why no one greeted us, to which the manager rather loudly let me know that it isn't their job to greet, and he didn't hear me say hello to him first! This is your MANAGER. I told him it was his job to greet US, not the other way around. He proceeded to tell me to bring my attitude down. Shortly after he continued on his tirade, he insinuated that I better watch my self, OR? I asked if he was threatening me? It went on for several minutes with my child literally walking near the front door. This is not only horrific service but an employee who you have given the title as manager is unacceptable. Many of us in the area have been to your salon many times; without incident. I would be greatly concerned if I were you, to know that you have placed someone in a management position who demonstrates behaviour that is not tolerated in respectable businesses. Additionally your manager was not through with his behaviour and carried on more with his nonsensical attitude. This is beyond anything I have ever seen in this area, and certainly not something I have EVER encountered. I was told you are out of town, hence the reason for leaving the review here. I look forward to hearing how you respond to this unreal situation. ETA It is disconcerting that the owner would hire someone who clearly shows no respect for the clients. Have yet to frequent a business that expects the paying customer to greet each and everyone before service. To make matters worse, telling a customer what you think about them in front of others is reflective of the business and Aveda (which is a franchise). I've heard from several people in the area, that they have also had issues with this location. read more

We had appointments set at 11 this morning for facials and after sitting for a half an hour we were still not receiving our facials. So don't bother setting an appointment time because they won't take you when you're scheduled anyway. read more

Worst salon experience I've ever had (and I've had many!) Short story: Newbies working on hair and training other newbies; poor customer service from stylist & owner; refused to apply an adequate compensation for the 3 day mess up they performed on me. Long story: Issue #1: I was in to texturize my crown and receive highlights with a lighter auburn (as my hair is dark brown. My stylist Celeste said that she razors & I told her that I wanted my hair to look the same except to have it less bulk on top. I was very clear that I didn't want to lose any length on the sides or back as I was going to grow my hair out. I also was clear that I wanted a "soft" look. She convinced me that it would not be a problem. When she was done, my hair looked spiky and "butch" and was significantly shorter all around. Issue #2: After being there for a few hours, it was announced that the color didn't take on my highlights because it was probably an "old bottle". This also stripped out my existing color leaving my gray more prominent than before. I was told to come back and they would color my hair with a bleaching agent the next day and was assured that it would take about 45 min. Issue #3: I came back the next day & was there not 45 min, but 1.5 hrs! Near the end, she told me she had applied dye to the other parts of my hair and she hoped that was "ok". As she rinsed my hair of the dye, she neglected to put a towel around my neck and water kept running down my neck, towards my shirt, and over my ears. I kept brushing off the water form my face, and returned my hand back under my smock, and had accidentally transferred dye from my fingertips to my slacks! Issue #4: Once I got home, I noticed the stain on my brand new pair of slacks, & I noticed in the full daylight that my hair looked streaked with orange & black (the other dye she chose was actually darker than my hair color). It gave me a spiky, "red-ruffed lemur" look. Issue #5: I changed my stained clothes and rushed to a birthday party where I was informed by the hostess that I had something black on my face. I noticed there was dye all along my forehead line and ears leading to my scalp. It had been dry for sometime, so I could not remove it with soap and water. I had to leave the party and remove the dye with essential oils at home. I have tried to speak with multiple people regarding this horrific experience and all I've gotten is a $25 gift certificate that can't buy me anything worthy at the salon. Not only was my time taken from me by returning to the salon a second time, but I was humiliated at a party and had to get my hair fixed at another salon, not to mention buying another pair of slacks-all totally more than $150 on "damages". Do NOT go to this salon if you want quality, understanding, competent service!!! read more

Tiffany does an outstanding job with eyelash extensions! She uses the the most realistic lashes available and makes sure to completely fill in your lashes. She is also warm and engaging and makes sure you are very comfortable. She also have me an excellent haircut! read more

Hands-down my best experience at a salon! This all-service salon and spa is gorgeous and soothing, and the staff was all so friendly (not my usual experience at a salon). Special perks like a hand massage while waiting for my hair to process and deep hair treatment made the experience extra pleasant. I had a great haircut and color there. Cassandra is a talented hair stylist and I loved the whole experience. I'll go back again, and would like to try the manicure/pedicure as well. I've had my hair cut and colored at this salon for at least the past three years. Becky is great, and I'm always pleased with the results. I also appreciate that she recommends products, but I don't feel pushed into buying what I don't want or need. Very disappointing. My favorite part of getting my hair done usually is the shampoo and scalp massage. My stylist tugged SO HARD on my hair that I thought it was going to fall out! It didn't stop there when she was brushing and cutting either. My color was pretty good... But my cut is one of the worst I've ever had. My "layers" are extremely choppy in the back. It looks like two different lengths of hair and it doesn't blend together AT ALL. Also, one side of my hair is framed way differently than the other side making it difficult to style. *update* STILL growing out my AWFUL haircut 9 months later. read more

Late August 2012, my daughter and I came to this salon for hair color. She came to get a baylage in blue and teal. I had not intended to have my hair colored but figured I might as well try while I was waiting for her. My daughter was unhappy with her color because she specifically told the stylist that she did not want green hair. I don't remember the names of the stylist who colored my daughter's hair. The stylist put green color on her hair and then put blue over it to get it to teal. From what I have been told, this was not the proper technique. The green and blue should have been mixed together in the bowl prior to being put on my daughter's hair. However, I had a good experience. My stylist, Cassandra, mixed a beautiful shade of dark brown for me. My hair pulls red, so she accounted for it. It was the best color I have ever had. I am returning today for a root touchup. read more

Eye lash extensions gone wrong (no stars) . I wanted extensions on my long, yet light colored lashes. I started this in November and went every two weeks through May. The beginning was great. The end result was loss of all natural lashes. No warning that this may be the result only excuse after excuse and attempts to fix the problem but that is impossible when there are no natural lashes left to use. I started using strip lashes to substitute, growth serum, mascara with growth serum to promote growth. It has taken almost 18 months to get any marked chhange. I called the owners wife in August 2014. She offered a free haircut and more excuses. Besides the aggravation, frustration and down right ugly substitute lashes, I have spent over 1400. on replacements and serums PLUS what I spent in the salon to get them done and have them maintained. There are salons that take the time to explain the process, evaluate the customers wants/needs, use the right products, and make sure that the estheticians have been completely trained. GiGi's is not the place to go. read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I got a males haircut, which first of all costs $32 and is outrageous especially for the quality. wow you rubbed my scalp for 2 minutes and shampooed my already shampooed hair, that doesn't warrant $32. I would never have gone there if I didn't have a gift certificate. Besides that the hairdresser was awful. I got my haircut from Dani. First of all if you plan on getting your haircut with her don't plan on telling her what you want to have done. I asked for her to use clippers on the sides and back to make it an exact length, and instead she free hands it with scissors and made it all different lengths. Terrible job. Then on top she once again made it all different lengths. she left the back and middle part of the top of my head was long and the front part super short. The front was maybe an inch long and the back was a solid 2 inches. I told her how I style and usually get my haircut and she just did what she wanted. now i can't do anything with my hair because the middle and back part of my hair sticks up way higher then the front and looks terrible. Good thing that I have my brother's graduation to attend tomorrow.... NEVER GO HERE, or at least DON'T GO TO DANI!!! read more

I am from Los Angeles, and was attending a wedding in Oregon City, so I researched some hair salons to find a stylist for an up-do. This salon had great ratings, so when I called to make an appointment, asked the lady at the desk to recommend a stylist whose speciality was up-dos and she recommended the owner. I brought in photos of what I wanted, and was shocked when 15 minutes later, he was done with my hair. He did not use any heat styling whatsoever, but rather just teased and sprayed my hair and pinned it up. I went in to the salon with completely un-styled hair, which for me means that it is a bit frizzy. Every time I've gotten an up-do, which has been many times, they curl or set my hair which allows the final styled version to have a sleek polished look. When he finished styling my hair, it was frizzy, over-sprayed, with bobby pins falling out all over the place. It did not keep it's shape and within an hour of the wedding, was beginning to fall out. On top of it all, it was not even close to the photo I brought in, but sort of felt like a amateur, simplified version of the beautiful hairstyle I wanted. Do NOT recommend for up-dos. read more

This used to be a wonderful salon. I have been going there for over ten years, but the present management is taking it into the toilet. The great stylists have left, the management is unapologetic for repeated errors and does to seem to care, and every decent person working the front desk has also left. It's like an exodus, and it does not seem to end. I would have left long ago, but I love the Aveda color and products used here. On top of this, the prices seem to increase a few times a year without notice. You just show up and find that your stylist now has passed some new level of training and therefore their fees have gone up a bit. I would forgive them somewhat if Johnny, the owner, would have taken the time to introduce himself to the clients he inherited when he bought the salon some years back, or if he would ever come around and say hello and ask how we are doing and how the service is, but he does not seen to care, does not have the time, whatever. And the service keeps deteriorating. I am done, and I want others to know not to bother with this salon. There are plenty of others in and around West Linn who now have the wonderful stylists who were once here, nicer facilities, and the cost is much less then it is here. After the horrible service in the months since my last stylist left (changing the stylist I've made an appointment with without telling me, no longer calling to confirm my appointments, telling me they don't have me on the books when I call to confirm my appointments, and worst of all, not being able to ever get my color right despite the fact that my old stylist left them my formula). I am done. My daughters and I are now back with my old stylist and I have left Aveda behind. read more
