It was myself an one other person but if she were to have stood up or someone came in we'd be on top of each other I was a bit confused on where to find the menu at first. They smelled so good on the way home I gave into temptation so I reached into the bag, pulled out a Cuban, took one bite and holy sh*t this is the best empanada I ever had. Long story short, I ate all of the 7 empanada's I bought on my 80 mile commute home. Now my wife is mad at me I ate all of her empanadas and I'm 2 pounds heavier. These guys are legit! It honestly looked like barely any pork was included. I'm really not sure how something like this happens, especially when the item is clearly listed as a combo that includes rice and beans. Those are basic components of the meal, and leaving them out completely while also providing such a small portion of the main item is very disappointing. As someone who has ordered from here many times before, this experience is frustrating and disappointing. This time, they had a stand up at Strong Rope Brewery in Red Hook, and it's a lifesaving addition over there. The lovely folks behind the stand are warm, welcoming, and ready to give you what you need. And what you need is carnitas. And beef and cheese. And surprisingly, the INCREDIBLE spinach and cheese. This last one kind of stole the show, and I'm almost always a meaty Petey. Basically, pair any empanada with some of their pineapple habanero sauce and you have a serious flavor bomb on your hands. Wash it down with some beer in a giant open, airy room? Perfection. My only concern is that Empanada Papa may have broken up with Empanada Mama? But as New Yorkers, we should just mind our own business, so I'm going to just keep it moving.
