My dinner
Jess S.

I went here on a Friday night with a friend and I have to say the service was impeccable. The food was delicious and the ambience was amazing.. We had a great waiter which his name was Jean Pierre, he was very attentive and very friendly. The place is really clean and I'm telling you that you would not regret going here and I cannot wait to go back.. everything was so full of flavor. The sangria was so good and the grilled shrimp that came on the platter was my favorite out of everything..

Good Ecuadorian restaurant. Nice ambiance and welcoming staff . Great to taste new dishes. Two levels of seating. If trouble with stairs, ask to stay in 1st level . Street parking.

This place is great from the service to the ambiance to the drinks to the food. It was all a five star. The food was very tasty the portions are huge. You will have enough food to take home for lunch the next day. The Bollo Tagua was great. The ceviche it came with was a nice bonus. FYI the dish has squid in it. I also ordered the Canelazo cocktail the mix was nice and full of spiced flavors and strong. We did have empanadas the we ok. I would try another appetizer next time. We were so full we didn't get a chance to order desert. I guess next time ..... There will be a next time very soon.

Very good food. First time having Ecuadorian food and it was excellent. I would recommend

Mine was with rice & beans w/ tostones and my friends had the same but her rice was with lentils in it. Appetizer was Bolon Mixto.

I've been a long-time customer, although I usually place my orders through Uber Eats. The last time…read moreI ordered was back in January because I decided to take a break from ordering out for a while. Today I finally decided to order again, and I even made sure to place the order earlier in the day so everything would be prepared properly and I would receive the full order without any issues. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a big mistake. I ordered my usual combo roast pork, which clearly states on the menu that it comes with rice and beans. However, when I received my order, there were no beans included at all, and the portion of roast pork was extremely small--far less than what should be expected for a combo meal. It honestly looked like barely any pork was included. I'm really not sure how something like this happens, especially when the item is clearly listed as a combo that includes rice and beans. Those are basic components of the meal, and leaving them out completely while also providing such a small portion of the main item is very disappointing. As someone who has ordered from here many times before, this experience is frustrating and disappointing. I made sure to order earlier specifically to avoid issues like this, yet the order still arrived incorrect. For a paying customer, especially a returning one, this level of carelessness is unacceptable. I hope this can be addressed so other customers don't have the same experience.

I have been ordering from this place for at least 3 years now if not more , I place the SAME EXACT ORDER every single week at least once or twice a week and I even make the effort to speak Spanish since it's their home language in order to make it easy for them . So here we go , I called again for the 5 thousand time to place the same exact order and the woman on the phone seemed confused even tho I was talking to her in her native language , she out me on hold 3 times to take an one single order , obviously she had NO CLUE about the menu . Fine , I wait for the order and I get something completely different from what I usually order so I called them and explained what happened. The woman on the phone tells me she asked the chef and he sent me the order , so I explained to her that is NOT WHAT I ORDER EVERY WEEK . I even went as far to say they could come and get the food back since we are not eating and all she kept doing was telling me that's what the chef made . Duhhh that's what the chef made but it's not what I ordered . Making a long story short , she didn't offer to fix and send the correct order , she didn't offer me a discount or a credit towards a future order either . With that said sounds like nowadays they send you what the chef decides to cook or what the inexperienced person on the phone understands and not what you actually order . With that said they lost a loyal customer because I will certainly NOT ORDER FROM THERE AGAIN !!! Not to mention so rude on the phone tells. MEVER AGAIN .

Since we were big fans of those alcohols, we decided to check it out. The walls of the space were covered in colorful murals with Latin American imagery. There were banquettes along either wall with small tables and ottomans scattered in front of them, providing separate, little areas for each group. Large playing cards were fanned across each table with Jack, Queen, King, and Ace cards each having a menu on its backside. There were bar bites, a spirits list, classic cocktails that could be reimaged with your agave spirit of choice (picture a tequila mojito), and even a custom beverages. The creative drinks were not cheap, coming in at around $20 on average, but they certainly were complex! My La Balacara featured Casamigos Mezcal, spiced pear, Luxardo, orange, ginger, chestnut honey, and a chili tincture. I thought the drink sounded outrageous, but, sadly, all I tasted was that honey, the ingredient of which I was least interested. In fact, the smokiness of the mezcal really did not play well with the chestnut honey, leaving it to taste sort of like licorice. I was not a fan. My companion's El Encanto included Casamigos Cristalino, Lillet Blanc, strawberry-lemongrass cordial, guava, and basil, which sounded herbaceous, but really just tasted like a fancy daiquiri. He enjoyed it, but I found it unimpressive. Our drinks were accompanied by a complementary bowl of spiced popcorn, which was delicious. We had come from an earlier dinner, so the snack was as much as I needed. However, the few larger food items that I saw others order all looked great. While I would go back to Perico to try some other items, I felt like I had had better, more affordable cocktails upstairs at Panela.

Let me tell you something. This RESTAURANT, is probably my favorite within a close radius to me…read more The food is phenomenal (to me, but I have yet to try everything they have to offer, thus far the chicken, beans, PEPPERSTEAK , empanadas, rice, plantains etc has all been good for me. The only time they had me a little skeptics is when a friend of mine ordered a tres leches, and suspected the milk may have curdled somehow I have no complaints regarding the service. I think they do their job and do it well, and there have been times that I've ordered a dish upon request and it was made FRESH on the spot. I don't converse with them often, and sometimes the food is a slight wait depending on WHAT you get, but no complaints there personally. As for the ambiance.. well, I am a native Jersey city resident so Ocean Ave is a usual to me. Most often if you mind your business, you should be fine as long as u go straight to getting your food, and go right home. And if u are confronted walk away and go about your business, thankfully this has always worked for ME. Internally the shop is cute as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't need it to be Michelin star decor! It's not about the what the store looks like in this case, it's definitely about the quality of the food, which to me is great. I'd definitely recommend you check it out for yourself! And my personal recommendation (my go to) is of course the pepper steak w rice and beans. It usually brings me to a total of $14 flat. If you order other combos (such as the meats alone) it also Comes to a good price. I once ordered chicken, pepper steak, plantains and beans w no rice and my total was $21! And it lasted me more than a single day.

The food tastes good. The price seems a bit high for the portion of food you get but it's expensive…read moreeverywhere nowadays.

Parking can be tricky, I parked halfway down the side street in front of the city park. The place was clean and everybody was friendly. I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. It kind of reminded me of a Cantina. Definitely a Latin vibe. The menu was on an iPad, and it was in Spanish, but just by knowing a few words and by the pictures, I knew what I wanted to order. I could've also used the Google translator on my phone, if I wanted to. I ordered the bandeja mixta. Grilled steak, grilled chicken, sausage, blood sausage, rice, beans and sofrito covered potatoes. The food came quickly, and it was delicious. Both the steak and the chicken were tender and had so much flavor. I loved the taste of the Sofrito covered potatoes. The potatoes were just the right texture, and the Sofrito was creamy and delicious. A little bit of the rice, I mixed in with the beans, And it made for a wonderful rice and beans dish. It was definitely a lot of food. I made it through the chicken, steak, the potatoes, and a little bit of rice and beans, and I was stuffed. I took the rest home for later, and it all reheated very well. The sausage was delicious, especially the blood sausage. Yes, it's an acquired taste but I absolutely love blood sausage. The flavor is deep and rich. For all that I got, especially since it was two meals, the price was very reasonable. I would stop back by the next time. I'm on the island. Thank you!

I came here with two other friends, we were in and out in about an hour. The service was quick and we found the staff members to be very nice!
