We purchased two trees from Gilberts. After they delivered the trees they let them sit in our front yard for over 2 weeks. I called a bunch of times and they never came out. I did the best I could to water them. They finally showed up to plant the trees and the crew did not know what they were doing! They broke one of the root balls and didn't plant the other one very well and left a mess. The first tree died by the end of the summer and the other tree died a little over a year later. (BTW they were both on a drip system and I watered them per their instructions after installation) I called the office a bunch of times and when I did get a call back John said that he would come out and that they would replace the one! tree. From scheduling to completion, the entire team went above and beyond to make sure the work was done promptly and as I requested. Upon meeting for the estimate, they also took the time to explain how cutting one of trees too far back might harm the tree or put it in shock, something I didn't even think about. We hired Gilbert,s Tree service , We needed a problem tree cut down that was hanging over my neighbor,s roof .. Jonathan and his crew did a fantastic job ! We made sure to do our homework and got a few quotes before hiring someone to trim our trees and to cut one down. Gilbert's was by far the most affordable company. Our trees were not a small job. We had around five trees cut down this past July. The guys who cut the trees down were awesome, no complaints there. This review is mainly for the receptionist Laura and the estimator John. There was a great lack of communication on both of their parts. We had some questions we wanted answered before they started the job and during. Laura was forgetful, would not return phone calls promptly, and would not relay messages to John to call us (if he even got the messages). Last week we called because we had some new growth on one of the trees. My husband left a message and we have not heard from them. How quickly they forget once the job is done. The only good thing about this company is the guys who do the cutting. If you want communication from anyone else you will be disappointed. read more

Gilbert was professional and his crew was excellent. We needed trees pruned, 1 large Cottonwood removed and shaping of our 20' high "Fat Albert" Spruce tree. PLEASE.... please read their bad reviews and then see if you want to take chance with them! They are very unprofessional to say the least! We had an appointment on Monday (called and confirmed the Friday before) was told by lady on the phone yes they have 2 jobs in Pueblo that day (mine being one of them). I asked what time they would be here (as I took off work to be home) lady on the phone said depends on what job is larger if mine is 1st would be between 9-10 and then they will go to next job. Monday came...I waited and waited...then nothing...finally I called at 1:45 to make sure they were still coming/again lady on the phone said yes they are still in Pueblo and they will be there. Mind you it starts getting dark at 4:30/5.. I'm thinking there's no way they will get done in time. No one showed/No phone call ...nothing. Called next day got voicemail. Called again on Tuesday, voicemail. Called again on Wed. lady answered after giving her my name, she told me that oh yes she just got my paperwork across her desk must have been under paperwork from other Pueblo job and she was just seeing it. Supposively trucks/machines broke down and no one called. After a big song and dance from her..I asked so when are you coming then? She said she would have to call John the manager to see, but she will get back to me at latest Friday. Its Friday and no phone call as of yet and it's 4:00 pm. Just beware when hiring this company if you want work done. I might add while our job might have been a small one compared to others for fall/we were going yo hire them for future work in Spring to put sod down both front yard/back yard. Definitely not happening now. We will look elsewhere. BEWARE!!!! read more

Hey, these guys are good at what they do. We used them several times and got great service, best on our street, as opposed to some others. Not the cheapest, but best value for dollars. Will remove all debris, and/or chip on-site per customer instructions. Easy to communicate with, not sure why they got even one negative review, suspect communication errors by customer. read more

From the proposal to their early arrival for work, they really did a great job. They just finished trimming 3 giant 80-100 year old elm trees in our back yard and now we could see sun light coming through. They did above and beyond, moved the trampoline and a swing set aside before and put them back after and cleaned up so well, you have to see the pictures to believe what our yard looked like during the trim - it looked as if a hurricane came through. The 3 guys who did the work really knew their trees, giving us the recommendations for the future - telling us certain trees are not worth trim but better to remove. They were true professionals!! The one star is for the estimator and office person. The ones who did the actual work were fine. Be extremely careful before paying in full. Check off every item on the contract to make sure everything was done and in a satisfactory manner. Did not receive any discount/refund for work not completed after they told me 3 times I would receive it. Have sent 4 emails and several phone calls. Nada, zip, zilch. Have used this company several times over the last 20 yrs due to my yard being surrounded by messy Chinese elms. Was always charged by how big around the trunk was and how tall the tree was. This year for some unknown reason I was charged by the hour. Was told it would be 6 hr job so the rate was $300 per hr. The job took 3 hrs and 20 min so now my rate had jumped to just shy of $600 per hr. All work not completed Per The Contract yet no refund or discount. Beware and be aware. read more

I saw my neighbors tree get trimmed and at that point realized how poorly Gilbert Tree Service trimmed my trees. I had 4 trees that needed trimming. Two trees were hacked up by Xcel. Two larger trees needed to be trimmed and thinned out. I called Gilbert Tree and 3 guys came out and explained how they would shape the trees hacked up by Xcel and how they would trim my larger trees. They talked the talk and were impressive in how they described how they would trim my trees. I was not here when they trimmed the trees. It appears that the only things that they trimmed was what they could reach from the ground. They did not shape the trees that were hacked up by Xcel, they only took a few branches from ground level. I watched a you tube video and trimmed the trees better than they did. They were low bid, so I guess you get what you pay for. I will have to hire another tree company to trim my larger trees. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GILBERT TREE SERVICE. read more
