Taking advantage of customers in parts quality and very high price. They didn't seem to mind. Be aware, it doesn't matter how many years you're on file. Pulling the wool over people's eyes. My latest experience with Gilboy earlier this year cost hundreds of dollars more that it should have. Being able to hand you your bill with a poker face is their specialty. Too late to argue about the situation now. Searching for an honest service center experienced with being mechanics and not a con artist. I never had a good experience with trying to buy a new car/truck at Gilboy. I'm a cash buyer and dont like to fuss around playing the "game". The gilboy salesman always seemed to be a bit arrogant and never gave a good price albeit they would always call me a day or two after my visit and provide a price that I would have entertained. Unfortunately in all cases I already bought a new vehicle from another dealer. Btw i highly recommend Koch 33 Ford as they understand how to sell cars in today's times . Koch 33 was the dealer that always ended up giving the best prices plus they had the largest inventory. Now let's talk about service. I used to use gilboy's quick lane service for my routine service until on my last visit I had the service manager tell me that they couldn't rotate my tires because they didn't want to damage the OEM lug nuts on my f150 tires. I think he was worried that I would catch them not doing the tire rotation that was included in the service, because I had a couple of my tires marked with paint because of an air leak issue I was having . Anyway the service manager came back with this lame excuse telling me how they were not going to do it. I always had my doubts they aere doing it on previous visits but this time the marked tires called their hand. I went home and did it myself without issue . I have other service stories but this was the last one that keeps me from stepping foot in gilboy. I must say when gilboy did Ford performance racing parts, the guys behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. I bought a lot of performance parts and crate racing engines from them. I always looked forward to go in and chatting with them plus they always gave me good pricing. This was years ago and gilboy has since stopped selling the Ford performance parts. My buying experience was great! I left a review on that already. This review is for their service department. Horrible! Been trying to get in touch with someone for my first service, would do it online but I need questions answered because of my work scheduled. And I cannot get an email or phone call back. I recently reached out for the recall that was sent out to me in the mail. But I called the dealership about that and the one service advisor I talked too had no clue what I was talking about. Told me I must of been mistaken. First thing in customer service you never tell the customer their wrong even if they may be. In this instance I was not! Was in the hunt for a new pre-owned car. While shopping around at a few area dealers and having a real crappy experience at Nazareth Ford, we stopped in Gilboy on a Saturday morning. Promptly greeted by a salesman, who was friendly and paid attention to my interests. Noone was pushy and my budget was respected (which was a nice surprise). There was the typical back-and-fourth haggling of a price but in the end, they came down to what I wanted and what I could afford...on a brand new truck. The closing process was smooth, I left later that day in my new truck. Couldn't be happier and am glad we didn't go with any other dealership that we shopped at. Awful place to buy a car from. Went there looking to buy a new Mustang. Jim was the sales guy could not get my name right from the start calling me Brenda when I had a time appointment set up. Tells us to test drive the car that I was interested in buying. He took our keys for the car we were trading in. Came back from the test drive. We said we were very interested in ordering one we wanted Black he said we could do that. Before he checks our credit says the payment will be 610.00 a month does not tell us how much he is giving us for our trade does not say how much his car is selling for. What kind of car salesman does this? None that I know of. I have been buying cars for a long time now and this bizarre thing has never happened. Checks our credit and tells us he can't sell us a Mustang something else ok but not the Mustang. Needless to say we said NO! That is what I came here for was a Mustang not some car you are just trying to sell me. We left went to Ciocca Faulkner and bought a new Mustang. I would love to shove this car under his nose. They must not want to sell any cars here. They will never ever get any business from me in the future. If your not really looking to buy a car go here you will come out w/nothing for sure. DON'T DEAL WITH THEM I sold and bought many cars from different dealers, Gilboy Whitehall is the WORST EVER, I got a ready check from a bank to get car from any dealer, when I went their with my check, the financial person was about to kill himself to make me apply loan for within their bank, I refused and insisted to use the check I already have in my hand, they pretended that they did but at the meantime they used my information to apply for a loan under my name without my permission, they submitted my inf. to tons of banks which hardly hit my credit score. they got a loan under my name without to let me know that, I thought they used the ready check I signed for them, but they never did, everything went normally there I signed the check for them and left with the car, but they forged everything after I left, I discovered the conspiracy 2 weeks later when the bank called me asking why I didn't use the check yet. then I called them and freak them up! These guys thought I will never know what they have done, they can do anything to make more money from you, you're just a dollar in their eyes, they are nice with you to the moment you signing the contract but after that they turn 180 degree. they were able to fool me for a little amount of time but I'm not gonna let them go with it. read more

I own a 2009 Jetta TDI clean diesel and in 2012 the exhaust flap needed replacement. It was not under warranty at the time and Gilboy charged me $737 to replace it. I moved out of the area in 2013. This year my exhaust flap failed again and I needed another replacement. Fairfield Auto Group in Montoursville, PA recommended I contact VW of America to inquire about possible financial relief due to a repeat issue. VWoA stated that a limited warranty came out in 2013 and that I can get reimbursed for my first replacement exhaust flap, which I did and am grateful with VW for honoring that. It seemed curious that Gilboy did not contact customers who had this part replaced at their own expense prior to the warranty issuance but that may not be a fair criticism in this instance because perhaps it was too logistically difficult. What is a fair criticism seems to be the cost. I just had the exhaust flap replaced again at Fairfield and they only charged me $352. Gilboy charged me over twice the amount three years earlier. Perhaps this is normal price fluctuation with auto parts applying supply and demand but it seems suspicious. I would highly recommend that vehicle owners who use Gilboy question all service expenses including the costs of the various parts. How can the same part cost half the price three years later at a different dealer? This event in addition to two other poor experiences seem to indicate that Gilboy gouges it's customers and doesn't value them. I hope I'm wrong and maybe they've changed since I moved away but it pays to be cautious. The other two poor experiences I had entail buying a new car from Gilboy and a promise to reimburse me for rental car expenses. In 2009, when I traded my 1998 TDI for the new clean diesel model, they refused to give me any deal on the sticker price. I bought my '98 TDI from Gilboy and used them for all my service needs but they showed no loyalty whatsoever. I'm not the type to haggle so I succumbed and purchased the '09 at sticker price (yes, I'm a sucker, I admit it but I hate haggling). The other incident was when my turbo failed at 90,000 miles - it was covered under warranty but they did not have a free loaner available at the time which is offered to customers who buy their car there. I had to rent a car at my own expense. It took them over a week to fix my car and I incurred a hefty rental car bill. They never even called me to offer a loaner when one became available (most likely one was available within a few days of when my car was brought in). I wrote to them seeking financial relief including sending my rental car bill to them and after a few weeks the manager contacted me that they were approved to give me partial reimbursement. I never heard from them again and it slipped my mind. I lost track of this due to moving but when I rediscovered that they did not reimburse me, I called VWoA and they were able to verify my story and finally received partial reimbursement several years later. Like I said, maybe they have changed their philosophy and apparent respect for their customers but I recommend you be very wary of their practices and question everything. read more
