What an excellent experience! From the initial phone appointment, each person I came in contact with went out of their way for me. I left feeling valued and appreciated. - A rarity in today's marketplace. They installed a fairly complicated removable trailer hitch on my BMW. After pickup Tom ( the owner) saw me in the parking lot under car struggling with the removal progress. In a flash HE TOO was on the ground next to me, under the car showing me how to do it. In his good clothes? Yup. Really? He then offered to make me a CUSTOM TOOL that would provide more leverage for my 72 year old hands! Summary They made sure I didn't leave without getting the hang of this tricky removal process. And to boot, they invited me to return after the summer and they would remove it if I was still unable. Michael, the sales manager, just called me as he had listened to my phone call or read my negative review and he basically corrected all of the issues that I initially had. Certain costs they can't change and understand me going to another shop when the cost is hundreds of dollars less. I checked on a replacement battery and it is frightening the amount of work involved to change the damn thing and then to register it... I now understand the amount of work involved. Car makers have made it so difficult and expensive to work on new cars. They will also honor the work they've already done and will just charge me for the PA sticker fee. Back in December I brought my car in for an oil change. After completion i was told that I needed a water pump. Not right away but I needed one. The cost would be $900!! I have since moved and finally got around to having a pressure check done on my water pump. Everything turned out fine. I DIDN'T need a new pump. Shearer could at least have offered to get it tested first. So buyer beware!! read more

Most disgusting business practices to ever come across! Charged me over 1800$ for a used transfer case on my 2006 BMW and that last less than a year and claimed there is no warranty on it when their website states 36 months on all parts used or new. Brought it back to have it looked at and per the contract it wasn't even looked at, only other issues they "found". Then they didn't put my car back together and I broke down on the turnpike after a piece of power steering was left out of my car by them. Apparently I am not in the right life bracket for him and my calls are now blocked and I am told to not contact them that my car is no longer under warranty even though they told me there was no warranty!! Contacting a lawyer. Reckless endangerment and disgusting conduct. Price gauging and lies is what this place is all about, just ask his "life coach". Mechanic of 18 years left due to these horrible practices and those are the facts. I paid my bill and this is how I get treated! Absolutely appalled! They choose who they want to do business with, only give loaner cars to rich people and don't care unless you aren't high class. They blocked my phone calls and blocked me on social media because I complained and demanded service. Customers beware!!! Many customers are finding out the hard way and being over charged for used parts and sub par service. They screen calls and fake being nice people. Bought my Volvo in early 2014, and the check engine light came on in the summer of that year. I'm the first person in my family to own a Volvo, and was recommended to come here when it was still located in Mertztown because they specialize in German cars (not Swedish.) I dropped my car off and got a call the next day stating that my timing belt and pump were bad, and diagnostics needed further investigating, costs that would add up to upwards of $1,800. I chose not to have anything done and paid the ludicrous diagnostics fee of $150, money wasted. I also found greasy fingerprints on my dashboard! I got a second opinion from my now trusted Volvo dealership, and the mechanic even guessed my issue on the phone: My car had a bad solenoid. They also informed me that my timing belt and pump were good for another 10,000 miles. They provided me with a great service and didn't try to make up fake problems. These people are charlatans and I don't recommend this garage to anyone! Shame on them for thinking they can take advantage of a young, first time car owner. They also didn't get the hint for more than a year and kept sending me postcards in the mail. Was glad to hear they wore out their welcome and moved far away. read more

Will definitely be back! Service was hashed out up front with a very accurate price quote (and a very fair priced compared to MB Dealers). Prior to the vehicle going in, I was aware my front pads were extremely low but did not trip the low pad sensor...shop called and advised the pad was extremely low 'and would need to be addressed in the future.' I appreciated the honest assessment of my vehicle. When all was done they even tried to pass on accepting a tip for the tech! read more

Schearer's was the fifth place I took my Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 to for an issue that even the dealership couldn't diagnose. The technician and I went for a test drive and he was immediately able to pinpoint the issue. My daughter had her car towed to Schearers Sunday evening. Someone called her first thing Monday morning, telling her they were already looking at her car to see what the problem was. I needed a diagnostic done on a noise my 1999 Land Rover Discovery. I took this vehicle to 3 other mechanics and no one could identify the noise, they were guessing and giving me estimates on parts and labor on a hunch. I googled top rated Land Rover mechanic and Schearer's popped up. It was a 30 mile ride from my house but it seemed worth the travel because from what I read in reviews, this was the place. I called right away and I was given an appointment within a few days. When I arrived a mechanic took a test drive with me to hear the noise and he didn't guess. He wanted to inspect visually. Amen! They needed a day. I was given a car (an Audi) to use while the mechanics thoroughly checked my vehicle. I got a list of everything that needed to be fixed, I explained that I was on a fixed income and then I was schooled on the most important things to get done first and great prices compared to what I thought it would cost for parts and labor. Honest, kind and compassionate. They knew what they were doing and explained it to me in a way I could understand. I got a few things replaced and adjusted at a great price. I bought my Land Rover used with 99,000 miles on it and I trust that the mechanics will help me get a lot of life out of this vehicle. I look forward to getting all my work done here and being safe on the road. Just the few things I was able to get done already made a great difference on the way the Disco rides. Just got back from having a turn signal bulb replaced... For $133... Bulb is available for $7.98 online, but the intensive training required to unscrew the old bulb and screw in the new one must have been very costly indeed. Was looking for a new place to go for service on my GTI. Got a postcard saying "you don't have to go to the dealer" As horrible as the dealer is, I very certainly would have been much better off. Oh, and they charged me $80.00 for the bulb! I said that's some real markup on that and they told me it was 65% markup as they bought it for $25.00... Unbelievable... read more
