They sent out two technicians, Robert and Zack, who were professional, courteous, and efficient from the moment they arrived. They quickly found the source of the problem -- our hot water heater -- and explained everything clearly. Their work was excellent, and the price was more than fair. We purchased a water heater less than three years ago and the water heater for the past year is very inconsistent with the temperature that you may get when you turn on a faucet. I have called about this and my answer was this.......only three components of a water heater.... the thermostat, the element and the tank. Giles warranty only covered the install, and the manufactures warranty only cover a five year warranty on the tank. Giles would only replace the element and the thermostat because that was common practice in these situations......at a cost of $450.00. We paid $2,000.00 upon install and was confident that this install would last us longer than three years. I would be very cautious if Giles recommends installing a Bradford-White water heater in your home. By the way, I was told if I was a handy man, I could do this myself. read more

I had a major water leak in my front yard that at first we could not see. (All I knew was that my water bill was extremely high!) Clint from Giles Plumbing assisted me as fast as he could but ultimately had to recommend that I reach out to a specific leak detection expert, who was also great! Once the Leak Detection expert located the leak, which was extremely deep in my front yard, Clint came out the very next morning with the necessary equipment to be able to reach the leak and fixed it within two hours. I was so grateful for his assistance and his kind nature during the unsettling process. This was my first major water leak and Clint was very direct, informative, and kind. read more

I didn't know where the cap for the main line was, but they found it quickly and had us back in business in no time. I've been a customer of Giles for years and normally our service has been pretty good. Our last experience was very disappointing. We had a clog in our drain line. We called Giles as usual. To their credit, they did show up quickly. They reported the drain line was clear very quickly. I was sort of surprised, but accepted their word. Everything seemed to be draining ok. A couple days later, the downstairs toilet starting bubbling again. Next day, I noticed the clean up plug had popped out and our sewage was draining into our yard. I called a different company my neighbor works with and they came out. It took them 2 hours to remove the massive, 4ft long root blockage in my line. They also used their camera to show us it was clear. Giles said the line was clear, but it was absolutely not clear. I will not use their service again. Attached picture of the mass. It is really shocking. If they had told me couldn't clear the line, that would have been fine. I just feel like I was played. read more

I'm a new home owner so when my first plumbing problem came up of course i freaked and then I came here and Yelp didn't disappoint. I called in the morning and 2 gentlemen were at my house in the afternoon and everything was fixed and perfect in about an hour. I had a broken bathtub faucet and a clogged drain in a sink. The nice part was the tech telling me that Moen will send me free parts in the future so I could save a little money that way. I'm a Fort Mill teacher and highly highly highly recommend. I have spent a good bit of money with Giles. Had a issue with broken pipe that went to the Hot water heater they fixed that . I was told that they would order the parts for the hot water heater asap this was a Tuesday then Friday I received a call telling me they just ordered the parts and it would be Thursday before the parts would be in. I asked why the parts were not ordered that day they fixed it She said trying ot save me money and then trying to tell me my unit wasn't in code it was only 2 years old. Let me save you the time and the energy. Do NOT use this company. If I could rate them a NEGATIVE 1200 I would. Two plumbers came to my house to fix a leak on the ceiling and the upper portion of my wall. In the process my 55 gallon fish tank was dropped and my laminate floors were damaged. The plumbers told me their Restoration company would be in contact with me. A day later I had no floors. The company did not follow up with me after this incident. I currently still am living on a concrete slab. Living in horrible conditions with no floors. When asked to speak to the other owner or to Ray Giles, "Shannon" stated she was the co-owner and that Ray Giles is no longer involved with the business. "Shannon" stated that the other "Co-owner" is a private partner. "Shannon" stated she was aware of the entire situation and never reached out to me as a customer until I called her 10 days later trying to figure out what the next step was for them to cover the damages. While on the phone "Shannon" even mentioned that her two plumbers informed her of the situation. Why would "Shannon" not take the responsibility of a Co-owner and reach out to a customer? Why did "Shannon" not try to find out everything that went wrong and understand the amount of damage that was caused by her associates? When asked, "Shannon" would not share her companies insurance information. When asked, "Shannon" would not share her last name. "Shannon" also would not provide me with written documentation in reference to why she felt "her" company was not liable for the floors. This business is SHADY and for them to have "Shannon" as their representative brings me a level of disgust unimaginable. Do not allow them to do ANYTHING for you. If they come into your house and cause any damage, do NOT allow them to suggest ANY restoration company to handle anything after they have caused damages to your home. "Shannon" will not take accountability for her company and you will need to get others involved. read more

My washing machine drain was backing up for the second time in a year. I had a plumber come out the first time who used a drain snake and made an improvement, unfortunately the issue occurred again a year later. I attempted to clear the clog myself using a drain snake, however I wasn't able to get the drain cleared out. Giles Plumbing came to my house and was very professional and courteous. They were very thorough in diagnosing the issue and worked diligently to ensure the clog was fully cleared. They stayed to answer any additional questions I had and also provided some tips on how to maintain the drain to prevent future clogs. I had a slow draining kitchen sink. I tried to fix it myself by removing and cleaning the pipes below the sink and replacing the Studor vent. The sink still drained slowly so I called Giles Plumbing. Chris and Jeff ran a power snake down the drain which revealed kitchen grease in the line. Then Jeff put everything back together (including gluing a piece of pipe that the builder failed to glue) and checked for leaks. I also had them replace the cartridge in my master bathroom shower faucet. The old cartridge (installed 12 years ago) had sealed itself in the faucet body. I felt bad that Chris had to pull cartridge out in pieces. I am so glad I did not try this myself. The bill was less than I have paid Roto Rooter just to power snake a pipe. Chris and Jeff were great and explained the repairs to me. read more

We had a catastrophe yesterday with our downstairs toilet. I called Giles Plumbing and spoke with someone immediately. Scott was the plumber assigned to us and he called me back within 5 minutes and was at our house in 15 minutes!! Came Friday to do rough ins and connect new plumbing. Reversed lines in kitchen faucet after cutting holes in walls costing me an extra $700.00 to have repaired. Told me wall had to be cut in laundry room to connect to washer while existing plumbing connections were clearly visible and operable. So easy I connected them myself without having to cut walls. This morning Chris told me the stub ins sticking out from the wall in one of the bathrooms were crooked caused by the sheet rock holes being wrong while clearly they were installed crooked evidenced by the metal strips holding them crooked. The plumber, Chris, lied to me, maybe thinking I was gullible and would believe him while he was getting extra billing for doing unnecessary work. At that point I was so angry about being lied to that I had Chris and his sidekick leave and am now searching for a reputable plumber. Giles used to be a very good company until the founder passed but now they are only interested in making unearned money by doing unnecessary work. read more

They charge extremely high prices for mediocre work. I will be sure and let all my neighbors know not to use Giles. Their final price was higher than it should have been according to what we were told it could be even though we agreed to complete the work ourselves to save money. For a couple living on social security in their 70's there was no mercy. Mr. Giles let us know that he was going to make a profit and he sure did! The city of Tega Cay recommended Giles.
