This is Gilmore's signature burger with absolutely nothing on it !! I can do this at home.

They don't know the job they are doing as workers for one of the towns busiest restaurants. Waitress or host didn't know the menu , she kept answering i don't know every question I asked. The sides like coleslaw didn't come with the apparently captain platter 4 types of seafood when I only ordered two seafood choice for $14.99 which was on the menu I called from but not in restaurant menu. 14.99 jumped to $24.99 I only brought $42 it was $41 and change. Couldn't leave a tip. She clearly needs to learn the menu and her job . If your going to be snootie and rude to customers don't work in the business of customer service. Clearly she didn't care about making my meals complete with sauces like house dressing for the house burger or Gilmore's signature burger. To spend any money on this restaurant you should always get what you put with it on your menu. The house dressing or coleslaw maybe a fork and a napkin . What is wrong with you people . Are you animals only eat everything with your dam fingers. Wipe your mouth in your arms sleeve . If you never give the customers what they order that saves you on ordering product at the end of the year imagine all the customers you have basically stolen from by not completing our orders.tge people picking up my food were apologetic for all your failures as a business. You do this every day and it should be your priority to make sure orders are correct and complete with what the menu says comes with it. If you want what you pay for don't come to Gilmore's. She said no restaurant has seafood for $14.99 $19.99 is cheaper then anywhere else. It was on your menu so who ever makes your online menus should fix this. I even showed her then menu while she looked at me like I was stupid when she doesn't even know the menu period. She set up the food and didn't deliver the complete order. Gilmore's do better. Retrain your horrible staff that shouldn't be even dealing with customers to begin with. I will not return.

Went in on the way up to the hinterlands near the Canadian border. Got here just after opening and we had the run of the joint. So of course we sat at the bar where our new friend Garett was holding court. Highly friendly barkeep and attentive server who seems a de facto ambassador for this place. We both got talked into Sam Adams summer ale; great recommendation by Garett! Nice and chilly without being too cold to taste the nice fruity undertone to this lovely alternative to their overrated skunky lager. Meantime the Queen Bee got a small salad and haddock chowder. Salad was quite fresh and crisp, she tells me. Haddock chowder is one of the items this place is known for and the bowl o' chowdah lived up to its billing. Garett was pleased to hear that! I just had more beer (I am no rabbit) and then had whole belly clams with their homemade onion rings and slaw. That whole plate of goodies was bitchin yum! Clams were that awesome sweet briny taste of the sea that you can only find up this way. Rings and slaw both freshly prepared and NOT from a bag, bucket or Sysco truck! Anyway: next time we make the annual pilgrimage or even during THIS trip, I am waaay ready, willing and able to head here yet again. So long as Garett can put up with me...we are IN, baby!! Woot! Woot!

The best 1/2 pound burger I have eaten in years.

Basic food, not great not awful - just dated. Was working in the area, grabbed dinner - would try something else if in the area again.

I loved how all of the bartenders and servers seemed to pitch in and help out. There was never the feeling like anyone was focused on just their job. They were all focused on making sure the patrons had what they needed. I was here on a Tuesday evening with my husband and 2 kids, 6 and 10. They don't print a kids menu but readily offer options of burgers, grilled cheese, mac and cheese, pasta with marinara, and pasta with butter and parmesan. My kids had mac and cheese and buttered pasta, which with homemade rigatoni noodles, we packed the leftovers. For cocktails, we had The Balcony is Closed, a delightful gin and lemon cocktail but the honey beer syrup balances it and the chili oil gives it a kick of a finish. I have gin cocktails wherever I go, and I've traveled and eaten far and wide. This is one of my top 3 most memorable gin drinks. We also tried The Assault Continues, smoky and earthy; not my favorite but for my smoky scotch loving husband, it hit the spot. Of course, we had to try the tuna nachos. I feel like so many restaurants try to do tuna nachos and it's been there, done that. But you haven't had THESE tuna nachos. They're spectacular. The ingredients on the menu speak for themselves but they finally got the ratio and presentation just right. It's a work of art. The caprese was also delicious, the stracciatella and pistachios playing nicely off each other. Dinners were rigatoni with short rib, and the halibut. The rigatoni was delicious. The halibut was out of this world. Perfect sear, perfectly cooked halibut in a corn cream sauce or nage, the summer succotash, fresh corn, crisp bacon, salty caviar. I really proverbially licked the plate with my fork. It was special and incredibly well executed. Not to mention the blueberry pie bar and carrot cake were also delicious. Both disappeared in a matter of seconds. We didn't have to fight for or pay through the nose for parking in downtown Bar Harbor for this wonderful dinner. Get the free parking in several lots in town. The city hall parking lot is directly behind the restaurant building. If you like to eat on a budget, this spot may not be for you, but if you enjoy great food and cocktails, I really think the prices are comparable to what you'd pay in other more populated areas. The food is a diamond in the rough.

The appetizers were excellent!…read more We ordered mussels which were tasty and generous, could have been is own meal. If it was served with crusty bread instead of a thick slice of toasted bread, it would have been perfect. The nachos were unique and delicious with generous toppings and ahi tuna... also could have been a meal by itself... chef's kiss to those two items! Our entrees were a dish called Gnudi- which if you don't know what they are(we didn't and when we looked it up, it said it is similar to gnocchi- IT ISN'T!!!) ask before you order, if you've never had it, it's very unique and we didn't care for it at all... there was no recourse given by the restaurant... make sure you know what it is!! Our other entree was rigatoni that was topped with ricotta and short rib sauce, shredded cheese... it was tasty, but very pricey for a bowl of pasta... To make a reservation, you need to give a credit card and if you don't show up, your card is charged $25 per person. The service was friendly until we didn't like the Gnudi... then it was a little weird... It was fine, but not exceptional... Cold bottles of water are given to the table and refreshed as necessary. The restroom is not kept up, could use shine attention, a little elbow grease to clean it. They are on Facebook and offer specials on their burgers.

I've not explored this area so was pleasantly surprised to see more then a convenience store. The place has ample parking and clear signage. Meet our group outside and were escorted to our table quickly. We were set up in a back room with a table set up for the 12 of us. Once all settled in our drink order was taken and specials explained. Lots a talking and catching up. Drinks arrived in a timely manner and then food orders given. I ordered the Fish tacos with a salad instead of fries. Hubby has the bacon cheese burger, and son had shrimp scampi and Bang Bang Shrimp. Food came out hot and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. No room for dessert so we finished our food, got to-go boxes and out to the fire pit area for continued conversations. Service was friendly and very knowledgeable. The drinks we got were great. Things to improve on: Priced a little high for what you get. Change the menu to much where they don't have anything on the menu you have to hear everything from the waitress which is hard to remember. The vibe is chill speakeasy/library; there's a comfy bar area with tables and then a warren of other little spaces where you can hang out as well, with books and games strewn about to peruse. I love that they have a small, curated menu, which makes it easy: Maine oysters (two kinds, both awesome) got me started with a martini (well OK two martinis; friendly bartender makes them *perfectly*), and then you can extend to dinner with a few rotating options. I got lucky because whoever is making this delicious food decided that bolognese and lasagna should have a baby and be served in a piping-hot dish with some bread and salad on the side, and who could be mad about that?! (NB get some red wine with it). And they feature the fabulous Maine martini (aka Allen's Coffee Brandy, to which I have been converted), so there's your perfect nightcap. Sometimes when you go to bars with small menus the food is so-so, but not here: everything was insanely good and the perfect portion size. Who knows when I'll be back in Bangor next, but I'll definitely come here again when I am. Check it out!
