I had a very disappointing experience with Gilman. I originally hired them to install sewer line for bathroom and sinks, and perform a sewer camera inspection of my underground plumbing because the building's plumbing system had not been used for over 30 years. I paid $275 for the video inspection, but I was never provided with a video recording or any documentation showing what was inspected, despite requesting evidence of the work. After my building renovation was completed, the bathroom immediately developed drainage problems and sewage backflow. Gilman came back and cleared the blockage using sewer snake machine, but I questioned why this happened so soon after the earlier camera inspection. I emailed the company to explain my concerns and ask them to review the situation. Instead of responding to my questions, they simply resent the invoice without addressing any of the issues I raised. When the sewer clogged again, I purchased my own sewer inspection camera and inspected the line myself. I found large rocks obstructing the sewer line, which I have documented on video. Based on what I observed, I have serious concerns about the quality and thoroughness of the original camera inspection, because these obstructions appear to have been present despite the inspection I paid for. The most frustrating part has been the lack of communication. Rather than explaining their findings or addressing my concerns, the company repeatedly requested payment ($337.14) while ignoring my emails. I expected transparency, documentation of the inspection, and a willingness to discuss the problem. Unfortunately, I received none of those. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience. read more

Would never use Gilman again. I was a repeat customer who had spent over $4.200 for a new water line service & even referred a neighbor who spent the same. They claim you have a $200 referral credit for friends & neighbors. I had a kitchen drain problem & had a new bathroom faucet to install. They then proceed to deny me the credit claiming my credit would only be $20! After their salesman promised me & the day of talked with 3 different people in the office. The plumber wanted to argue, never gave a written estimate of the work. Reluctantly gave the $200 discount. Charged me $497, even when I supplied the new Delta hardware & they only fixed the kitchen drain & 2 flex water lines in the bathroom. Highway robbery & deceptive. Stay clear of them! read more

This was our 2nd experience with Gilman--the first was great so we called Gilman to service a heat pump that wasn't working--when we turned the a/c on, the temp would go up rather than down. Since we were paying for a service call, we also wanted a filter changed on 1 unit, and the freon checked in another. The technician was here quite some time & then came with a long list of additional things needing to be done & wrote up several quotes. We didn't ask for "tune-ups" on the units, just the 3 specific items to be done. When he left, he asked if we wanted the units on--we said "no". Later in the day, we needed the a/c, but when we turned it on, the same thing happened-- temp went up instead of down. We had to call back the office--they sent the tech back that afternoon. When he arrived, he said "what's going on?" As we explained that the unit still wasn't working, he was very defensive & said "it was working when I left here" "I tested it". He implied that we had done something to the unit. We told him we thought the thermostat was bad--he checked & said that was the problem. He replaced it & tested it. When he left, his comment was "I don't like call-backs". If he had done the job correctly the first time, we would not have needed a call-back. He was more interested in "selling" more services to us. This experience was very aggravating--we will NOT have Gilman back. We shouldn't have to put up with smart aleck technicians. read more

Jacob was superb - knowledgeable, efficient and comprehensive. However, I was told that the "dispatch fee" would be $76 (it turned out to be $90) and that would be the total cost of the visit, due to our annual service contract. Instead, we were charged an additional $101+, in spite of the fact that no actual service was performed - all just as it was when he left. He checked several aspects of our heat, but made no changes. A very nice man came out and quickly diagnosed a significant problem with my well tank. In doing so, he found a small leak in a pipe in the same utility room. TLDR: They tried to charge me $4800 for a job another plumber did for $200. As a new homeowner, I'm not familiar with plumbing. I was so shocked to hear that my 3-year old home that had an inspection one month prior needed a whopping $4800 of plumbing work to address a leak and some pipes that weren't angled right in the crawl space. The two technicians, Pete and Steven, even told me they "had never seen anything like it in 27 years of residential." This is AFTER charging me $580 just to come out. On a whim, I called a second plumber. He assessed the same problem and did the work right on the spot for ~$200. I'm extremely disappointed that businesses like Gilman take advantage of a younger woman homeowner. I'm not one for drama, but this egregious overcharge seemed too blatant not to comment on. If you're anyone, be wary. If you're a woman, expect to get absurdly price gouged. It's really cruel of them and disappointing. read more

Absolute RIP OFF !!!! They'll take advantage of your situation and will rip off as much as they can, not even fixing the problem... We had AC issue, Gilman technician came out and told us that it's an old unit and not worth fixing, but he can do a temporary fix, so he added a freon to it, charged us 1600$ Ac stopped working in two weeks or so, and after I called them and said it stopped working, they said, well, there was a leak so all the Freon probably leaked out Long story short the technician added Freon to the unit even though he knew it would leak out , but he never told us anything about the leak or tried to fix the leak first, which is kinda given, you fix something before you put liquid in it !!!! They offered they would put new unit and take out 1600$ out of it, but then they gave us quote so high, other company did the same job , for couple thousand less.... So yeah, watch out before you consider calling them!!! UPDATE ! Vice president of the company just called me several hours after this review calling me "Winy FUCKING BITCH" for putting this review !!!! Threatening to send me For collection, although I have no idea what is he talking about we paid the bill right away lol .... Gilman installed and maintained our HVAC units for about 12 years at our previous home and did a great job! When we moved to our new home they inspected our HVAC unit and thankfully everything was fine. We wanted a multi-split for our garage and that was installed last week. So excited, it is very quiet and works well for our garage. We never had a need for their plumbing services in the past, however, our new home had a leak in the crawlspace, it was a Saturday, Gilman came out within the hour. Did a great job! A little disappointed with the last service call. It was only supposed to be an estimated visit. After the tech looked at what needed to be done; he gave me a quote. He stated it would be a service fee anyway for coming out so I should go ahead and get the work performed. With the misinformation he provided it sounded like a good idea to do as suggested. It didn't sound right to me based on past service calls. Especially when Laurie told me estimates are free. While the tech was at my home about to get started on the work; I decided to call the office and speak with Laurie to get clarity. The tech rushed in so quickly to get started. I didn't even have an opportunity to stop him after speaking with her. I questioned the service fee and she seemed a little uneasy when I pointed out that in the past on several visits a service fee was never charged. She explained that the past visits were charged but it was incorporated with the repair. I explained it was never itemized that way on any of the invoices. She then advises that the tech was new and it was only supposed to be an estimate if no work was performed. At this point it's too late. I'm thoroughly disappointed in Gilman. read more
