Dr. Carr was recommended to me by my dentist, Dr. Jeremy Lansford, for a "surprise--you need a root canal" exam. Darcy (front office)was able to get me into Dr. Carr the next day. She was attentive, kind, and we shared a couple of laughs. Based upon other reviews (and Dr. Lansford's high marks), I felt I would be in good hands. No one can attest to "loving their root canal", but I can attest to Dr. Carr's caring & expertise. He and his assistant, Katie, were impressively focused on the task at hand (inside my mouth) for close to 3 hours. (Plus, I enjoyed the tunes from the 50s, 60s, and early 70s playing). Though my jaw is understandably sore from holding it open that long, I have had zero sensitivity or pain in the days after (following the antibiotic and Motrin protocol). I had no pain during the procedure. (He's also impressive with the numbing) I'm impressed with his smooth work on the very back upper molar that has seen a lot of work through the years. I was referred by my dentist to evaluate whether I may need an extraction of a molar that was painful. Dr. Carr informed me my roots were broken and that I need not one but two extractions! He also told me I'm well on my way to having all my teeth extracted and that I might consider an all- on-four denture. He had me in tears. My dentist was furious with him and told me my teeth will not decay but that I could have them till I die of old age! Sure enough those "broken roots" turned out to be fine. First, I have never had anything beyond a a cleaning or a filling at my dentist of 33 years (Bruce Trubo). Now I needed a root canal and wondered about some of the horror stories I had heard. Dr. Carr was able to see me within five days. So in I went at 8:15 for my RC. Dr. Carr and the DA Meg were thoroughly professional, always made sure there was no pain (not even an inkling of pain) and had me out the door in about two hours. I was referred to Dr. Carr by my dentist for an emergency root canal. My dentist told me Dr. Carr was the best of the best when it came to root canals and he was absolutely right. The front desk was able to fit me into his schedule on New Years Eve. Dr. Carr is very compassionate when he speaks to you and makes you feel completely at ease prior to the procedure. He answered all my questions and did some tests before starting. The root canal was painless and if I did feel anything he made sure to stop what he was doing and numb me. It truly felt like he cared about how I was doing and that I was comfortable while also being very thorough with my root canal. I managed to get in quickly with Dr Carr due to someone canceling an appointment which was good for me struggling with a painful gum. It turned out I needed a root canal and Dr Carr had time to do it right then. It was much better than worrying about it for a few days. He promised me no pain and that is exactly what happened-he was wonderful. It took about 45 minutes and didn't hurt one bit. Dr. Carr went above and beyond for my Son with Special Needs. After not being able to complete the procedure because my Son was too afraid of needles, Dr. Carr called me the next day and gave me a couple other options. Every other Dr. we took him to just said "sorry we can't help you". His office coordinated an Anesthsigiologist to come to his office, Our Dentist to come to his office and complete a Root canal and install a Crown all at the same time. We were even able to get his blood drawn for his Neurologist while he was sedated all at the same time. I've never experienced a Doctor with the compassion and thoughtfulness of Dr. Carr. Saw Dr. Carr today when I got referred for an emergency root canal. Of course, this is Xmas week and I'm going out of town. Of course it was a back molar with 4 roots. I was worked in after the regular appointments and both Dr. Carr and his excellent assistant were kind and efficient. The assistant made sure I was comfortable, explained the procedure and gave updates during the process that let me know how much longer I had. It was a long process! But Dr. Carr is a wizard or something because his shot was very effective and when I did feel a little discomfort he topped me off with another shot. The office equipment looks very up to date and you can sense that Dr. Carr is very knowledgeable and talented. Although it was my first visit, Dr. Carr's staff was cordial, professional and very assuring. I had an abscess drained without numbing and without pain. By far, Dr. Carr is the gentlest dental professional I have encountered in light of the amount of dentistry I have experienced. Gilman Carr isn't going to talk about puppies and kittens while he files out your tooth, but he'll be honest, kind, and get the job done in a better than exceptional way. I was more than grateful when he accommodated my visit in less than 24 hours, and given the pain I was in prior to the procedure he could have discussed clubbing baby seals and I still would have been in love with his care. A delight, if you can say a root canal is such a thing... but honestly, if you need one, he's the man to go to.
