Abingdon is a little town with a lot of fast food outlets and doesn't exactly have a vibrant cafe society or third spaces for people living outside of the nuclear family unit constellation. So I was delighted to find this little cafe/ bookshop (The Book Cellar) which even has a tiny garden as well where you can get a cuppa tea, browse the books, sit down and maybe just get some writing done or just collect your thoughts. Folks were very friendly and I had no problems here whatsoever. It's small, very cozy but for little Abingdon, it's just right. I was so happy to find this corner of Abingdon. I may come back to Abingdon in the future for other workshops and if I do, I sure hope this little shop and cafe are still here.

I stumbled across this charming local coffee shop and book cellar, in Abingdon, VA. I was greeted…read moreupon entry by the barista! She was so kind and very patient as I scanned the menu. She provided recommendations and shared with me the specials offered at the time. I ordered a custom made beverage, hot Toasted Marshmallow & Butter Cookie latte with oat milk; I topped it with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. It was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect sweet treat to warm me up on chilly winter afternoon. The cafe also featured a very cute book cellar that had the neatest items!! You can definitely tuck-away in this cafe to get work done, you can meet with friends for a coffee date, or even just chill and have a cup of coffee, a pastry and indulge in a nice book. When we fly out…read moreto visit her (CA to TN), there are always Honeybee's goodies on the table but I have to admit my Achilles' heel is 100% her dinner rolls. OMG! So delicious and slathered with butter We actually stop on the way to the airport and get at least 2 dozen of Honeybee's rolls for the flight home. We used to get only 1 dozen but I've never made it back to Cali without at least one passenger bartering for a few.. it's become a thing! fresh, buttery rolls on a plane is the adult equivalent to getting to stop at McDonald's for a Happy Meal on the way back to school from a doctors appointment; you're literally king for the day! My favorite barter-to-date is a few visits ago when our group was all separated on the plane. The ladies I was sitting next to ordered me a buffalo chicken wrap and a mimosa in exchange for a dozen of my precious dinner rolls ‍ Long story long, Honeybee's has not only made my visits to Tennessee even more special, they've pulled off making the long flight home fun too! I am for sure a lifelong fan!!! I'm so happy Honeybee's was able to not only survive during the pandemic, but become exceedingly popular!
