Stay away from this place like the plague. We wanted to have dinner before the play at The Barter Theatre. Got there around 6. Didn't have a waitress come to our table until about 6:15. She took our drink and food order, brought our drinks and we never saw her again. About 6:40 we asked another waitress to check on our food. She finally came back at 6:52 and said it would be a few minutes. Being the play started at 7:30, we got up and walked out. Our dinner ended up being Lance crackers, peanuts and pop at the Theatre. Worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. If you're smart you will go to McDonalds instead.....it would be a better experience and at least you would get your food. If I could rate this place below zero stars I would go with negative five! read more

This is a great local business with quality food, great service and reasonable prices (not cheap though). I appreciate you have a wide variety of sides you can order with an entree if you're not in the mood for French fries. So good! We stopped for lunch while passing through town and ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. The soup was DELICIOUS. I am very picky when it comes to tomato soup and this hit the spot. I wish I had ordered a bowl to go so I could have had it for dinner that night. Hunter, or server, was kinda and attentive. The space is cool, but I really had hoped for more on the food front. Ordered the hot chicken sandwich and it was completely drenched in what appeared to be Texas Pete hot sauce. So much sauce it made the bun super soggy, not very appetizing. Speaking of the bun it was just a plain white bread hamburger bun like you might get at Wendy's or McDonald's. I guess I was hoping for some crusty bread. My wife ordered the tips which are supposed to be like the ones at the Tavern. Unfortunately, they weren't even close. way overcooked. W had Barter tickets & arrived 1hr & 20 min before show & told them w had theater ticket, ordered, got fries appitizer, but no food! Several wait staff passed me by at the hostess stand. One finally showed up. After I was seated I sat there for awhile with sticky plastic covered menus for service. It was too hot and overrun with flies so I left. It's one of those places that just FEELS dirty. read more

Went here to pick up a dinner tonight and I was very pleased with the food and service. I got the fish and chips and a side of tomato bisque. The food was ready as I walked into the restaurant, I was one minute later than the pick up time sent to me. The bisque was very flavorful and still hot when I got home, about 15 minutes from the restaurant. The fish and chips also arrived hot and the slaw and tartar sauce was still cold. The fish was well cooked and delicious, and the fries were nicely seasoned. A lot of restaurants really pile on salt to the chips, but these had just enough and not too much. The food and venue are great but the service and attitude are terrible. We stopped going to brisket and bourbon to avoid a certain server and now they are here with the same attitude. Then asking you why are you standing there? Deserts are very good but prices change and go up 3 desserts over $30?? Little pricey. Please put your prices on the items and keep them that price. Horrible. Just Skip this place. Was completely ignored by multiple staff for 20 minutes. When I finally asked for help a very rude young lady in a harsh tone said, "we are busy and will be with you asap". Another 20+minutes and we get to sit and wait another 15 minutes for a waitress. Our water was served in dirty glasses, add another 10 minutes to get water in a clean glasses. Finally ordered food and specifically asked that it be served together but no one meal brought and 15 minutes later the other one so now mine was cold. Food was less than desired to begin with. Never received the wine I ordered but it was on the bill, when I pointed it out the waitress said, "oh I guess I forgot about that". Needless to say no tip and we will not return and advise all to think twice about a visit. Parking was a challenge and we found a spot on the side street next to a deep mud hole. We walked across the lawn and found a sign directing us to find a host/hostess station to be seated. Not clear where we might find this station, we climbed the back stairs and entered the bar area. Nobody greeted us there or provided any instructions so we sat down at a table and soon noticed 3 restaurant staff members loitering at the end of the bar. We made eye contact and they continued to ignore us, preferring to check their phones and talk to each other. It was around 4pm on Tuesday and they weren't busy. At least not busy doing their jobs. After a few minutes we had enough of that treatment and we took our money and spent it at a better restaurant with excellent service in Damascus. read more

Food was good but wine was sold by the glass and unavailable by the bottle. We asked about a cork fee should we want to bring our own bottle of wine from the wine shop a block away. We were told by the server there would be a small fee. We came back two weeks later with our bottle of wine to have with dinner and was told by our server that the cork fee policy had changed, and the restaurant only served their own wine by the glass. We decided to walk a couple of blocks away to another more accommodating restaurant that charges a small cork fee. read more
