The toast here is fire..! Things you should know: I. PARKING There's a massive lot with available spaces behind the cafe as well as nearby, free 2 hour street parking. Pick your poison. II. SERVICE Accommodating and kind. Timely. I like that this cafe provides sugar free syrup flavor options and a self-serve water station. III. QUALITY Their toast options are DELICIOUS. You absolutely need to try them ~ the bread is vegan friendly and made with oats. It's thick and soft with the slight texture from the seeds. Ugh, and the avocado hummus.. *chefs kiss* don't get me started. IV. CAPACITY A few tables remain available for the afternoon on a weekday. This place isn't too loud so it seems like a great spot to study and camp out.

My friends and I are here often to study throughout the week. We're simply thrilled that they are now open till 6pm. Got the Cafe Miel the last time I was there & it was simply Definitely recommend this place, especially for locals if you want a chill place to meet up with someone, do some work, or just go grab some coffee while you're downtown!

Oh this place is just wonderful!! It has become my go-to coffee spot when I'm in town. Our whole family is hooked on coming here anytime we are out and about, and it is in such a perfect location! Grab some lunch and walk right over for coffee. So perfect. I tried their cafe miel, which is espresso with honey, milk, and spices. It is to die for!! I highly recommend it with oat milk. I came back to have it again a different day! It's not overly sweet but enough to really give good flavor. This space is just great for hanging out or meeting up with people, as well. It's warm and inviting, and they also have pastries for sale (some at a discount!). I could go here every day!

I really like this little cafe! Cute. Bought a hat. Lady working the register is funny and sweet. Drink and food came out quick.

This quickly became a favorite for coffee in downtown JC because the coffee & barista work are top notch! Simple decor and hanging out is encouraged. Their logo art's cool -- buy a T-shirt! This is the only place I go repeatedly for an actual espresso because they make it smooth & thick...and the authentic size for either single or double. Their bean roast does not taste "burned" as I find with many espressos. I also like their oatmilk & coffee barista work...and they mostly make their own coffee syrups (no corn syrup goop!) Baked goods are from a local baker (and some are GF and vegan) and they have other light bites. ++cj

Stopped in Dos Gatos on our anniversary trip to see the turning of the leaves. What we found was a top notch coffee shop! They use Counter Culture Coffee (we are big fans) and house made syrups. The hubs got a hazelnut latte. He said it was smooth and very well made. I got a decaf chai rooibos latte. Which wasn't my first choice, but due to Covid supply chain issues, I couldn't have a regular chai tea latte. However, it was delicious! I was really happy I tried it. The place was popping on a Monday mid morning. Lots of people their working or just hanging out. The staff was great. Chill but personable. Enjoyable to talk to and did a great job. If you are looking for a good place to get coffee in Johnson City ... this is the place!

    Cappuccino, iced chai

We got a cappuccino and a iced chai. The chai was absolutely perfect, they used real tea instead of a concentrate. The atmosphere was great and the baristas were also super nice.

Passing through town and searching for great pour over coffee. This place was highly rated and not far away. Even though there were limited hours and restrictions because of COVID, the staff were extremely kind and reopened the store (that had just closed) to make one last coffee for me! The brew Counter Culture, which is amazing. The pour over was delicious. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a bag of beans as well. From my limited experience, I would recommend this spot to anyone who wants a great coffee. Although I didn't order food, their menu looked awesome. I'm going back the rest of the week.

First of all, the place was very small, with this caved-in feel...a very grungy, dive-like ambiance. I felt quite claustrophic. Also, they didn't have the A/C on, so it was quite humid in there. Sadly, things didn't get any better. One of the best thing about the brulee is the glazed crust...and well, their version was just slack, in that only about a third of the top was glazed! HUH?!? Plus, they used this thin slab of Orange instead of the usual Blueberries or Strawberries...making the dessert have this Yellow on Yellow type presentation. Not appealing at all...at least to me. Initially, I thought we'd wait...and get our waitress-bartender to send it back to the kitchen to get it glazed fully. However, we just couldn't get her attention...so we just ended up eating it. I did, however, decide to bring up this issue...after getting the hostess to literally grab our server! I just felt that something this slack should be pointed out. Since we did eat some of it, I didn't ask for a redo or anything like that...but simply telling her that I wanted my feedback to go to the kitchen and the manager. In any case, she didn't bill us for the dessert. I thought that was the right call. From the grungy ambiance (with no A/C), to their botched dessert, I just can't say this was a worthy experience in the least. I totally regretted not going to Crave dessert bar instead. Lesson learned!

Bouchon French Bistro is a solid spot for French food in the Asheville area. If you're looking for…read moresome classic, French bistro fare then Bouchon likely has it. I've never had a bad meal here. In my most recent visit to Bouchon, we had a reservation for the three of us on a Sunday evening for dinner. In fact, I recommend making a reservation if you're planning to dine here as Bouchon gets busy. Even for a Sunday, nearly every table was taken. The place is dark and romantic, but bustling and lively. As mentioned previously, Bouchon has classic, French plates that are timeless. From French onion soup to start with, to steak frites for your main, and profiteroles for dessert, there's something you're likely familiar with if you've had French food before. Plus, the large wine menu, including Bordeaux style reds are something to rave about. I ordered the Canard a L'Orange Chocolate for my entrée and we wanted to start with the escargots, but it never came. We had to remind our server that we ordered escargots, which we later received and was taken off the bill. That was nice. I did enjoy my canard/duck entrée, which was prepared with a rub from cocoa nibs and an orange glaze with broccolini and potato au gratin on the side. The duck was also a good portion, as it was half the size and cooked perfectly. Overall, if you like French food then Bouchon has some traditional dishes that you'll enjoy. Service was a little spotty, but not terrible. It's not my first choice for dining out in Asheville where the competition is fierce, but if I'm visiting on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, then you best believe I'm down for the AYCE moules frites, which yes, I've totally done and definitely got my money's worth.

Here's the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly on our experience:…read moreThe Good: Their coffee was delicious. I love the Spring menu which was very creative with many things we would love to try. The pistachio latte was so good. The Ube latte was good, but can't really taste the Ube flavor. Solid place for specialty coffee. We also had the strawberry banana smoothie, it was yum. The food and drinks came out pretty quickly and the servers were nice. The Bad: The place seems to be specialized in crepe, so we ordered the Mixed berries crepe, the strawberry with Nutella crepe, and the apple cinnamon crepe. While the cream inside was delicious, the crepe itself was cold which made it a little gummy and it was a bit too thick. The apple cinnamon crepe had a mixture of cooked and cut fresh apples but unfortunately the fresh chunks didn't mix well with the overall texture of the crepe so it was not great. If they had sliced the fresh apples or put them on the side, it would've been better. The Ugly: We had the Greek omelette which was not big and can't really taste the feta cheese. It came with a hash brown but it was probably heated up in a microwave instead of fried...it was dry and missing the crunch. The bread was cold that came with the omelette, it didn't came with butter either. Our experience was a letdown on food, but good place for coffee.

Navigating the overall experience was a little confusing. There's a clearly visible coffee menu above the counter, but the food menu is somewhat hidden. Fortunately, a staff member noticed my confusion and handed me a menu. There are also portions of the menu that are only available after 11am, and that's not clear on either the menu or the web site. Fine. In terms of food, I ordered a greek crepe with a half greek salad on the side. The salad was good, but not exceptional. Fresh. Crisp. Pre-sliced tomatoes for easy navigation. Probably a little too much feta. The crepe was interesting. It was almost a crepe burrito with greek filling. It was honestly on the heavy side. More crepe than filling, with an extra dusting of cheese on top. In terms of coffee, I would say middling. It wasn't bad coffee. It also wasn't good coffee. Overly bitter and one dimensional. On the other hand, they served the coffee in an oversized ceramic mug, which added some character and quality. Overall, this was a reasonable place to stop for a quick breakfast on a road trip. It wasn't exceptional, and there were some surprises along the way, but the overall experience was fine. It works as a quick pit stop.
