Ive done business with Gils since the 1990's. In recent years my auto needs have not been as frequent as the quality of our family vehicles has improved. I recently brought in my truck which needed a new front end differential and complete motor swap. Linda worked with me on replacement parts and pricing as the job was a significant amount of work to say the least. In an effort to keep this review short I'll skip all the details however, I will say that in an effort to keep the costs down I wanted to reuse some older parts. The team at Gils understood my concerns but also wanted to make sure I was protecting my investment too. The truck was complete within a week after the new motor and front end arrived. The reason for this review is to put in a good word for a business that really deserves it. When I went in to pick up my truck I was surprised to find that Linda replaced extra parts on the truck and managed to do so keeping the price exactly were we agreed upon!! New cooling system, timing belt, exhaust manifold and gaskets, and even washed it...... I have been going to Gils because the quality of the work is top notch and I TRUST THEM. These are good people and they will treat you right. In the rare cases were there may have been an issue on a repair it has NEVER been a problem getting it corrected. You may find better pricing on small easy repairs if you shop around but my experience has been Gils is competitive and you can trust the work is well done. I wouldn't take my vehicles anywhere else, great service every time from a family business that genuinely cares and values their customers. read more

Once again Gil's knocked it out of the park! I took my wife's vehicle to Gil's on a recommendation from my business fleet services mechanic, and I was NOT disappointed. Mike's staff were by far the best I've ever seen. The facility is definitely "TOP SHELF" and they have the latest in technology to provide a fast and accurate diagnosis. Being pleased with their initial service, I took my vehicle there for inspection (and to diagnose a check engine light.) Linda called me within 24 hours to provide preliminary findings and cost for anticipated services. She again called a few hours later to advise my vehicle passed inspection, and advised of a potential issue which would have cost me $700.00 but was not of immediate concern, or a safety issue. The information provided allowed me to forego the correction affording me the time to budget for the work which I will return to have addressed. It is obvious Gil's Garage philosophy is to be honest, and forthcoming with their customers with a no-pressure environment. I honestly don't get impressed easily with auto repair places but let me tell you I give them 10 stars for every 1 so with me they get 50 STARS...I can not believe how courteous and friendly the staff is, and the attention to detail, plastic mat over my mat, parts that I requested back in a bag...in the trunk and the work performed exceeded my expectations to say the least...I would recommend this place to my family and friends, I only wish I seen the coupon before I went....the staff at Gils is outstanding, knowledgeable and honest....after taking my mustang repeatedly to other mechanics whom I wont name names could not figure out the problem...this went on for months and more and more expense GILS figured it out with ONE TEST DRIVE and fixed my problem...HONESTLY will be taking all of my vehicles here from now on and so should you....THANK YOU GILS....YOU TRULY ARE THE BEST!!!!! read more

I ended up breaking a front coil spring on my 1989 Dodge Pickup. I decided to have the entire front end rebuilt and started a search for a shop. Every place I checked with, would not replace the bushings in the control arms and it seemed as if I might have to try it all myself. After almost a year of looking, I tried Gil's Garage and when I walked in, they told me they had a person that worked on classic vehicles, and I knew I was in the right place. I had the whole front end replaced in May of '25 and not only did they do everything I was looking for, they also painted the parts before they put it back together and did front brake pads as well! I thought they might have my truck for a few weeks, but it was done in two days! I couldn't be happier with how it all came out, and now the truck is better than when I bought it in 2005! read more

Had an appointment for break repairs. Dropped the car off at 8:30 AM and was asked when I wanted to pick the car up. I told them 4:00PM. Drove by at 1:00PM car had not moved. Called the garage to check on the progress and they said it was just taken inside. So I drove by again, car had not moved by 2:00 PM. They did not finish the repair and said they needed additional parts. Funny the car was done around 9:00 am the next morning.Maybe the 5 wasted hours sitting in the lot would have made the difference? I needed to make arrangements to get home from work. I work in Halfmoon, but live in Connecticut. I was not the first time they have done this to me, but likely it is the last time! read more

We have been using Gil's for over 30 years and can say we have never had one bad incident in all those years. They have serviced all our vehicles and even fixed a trailer or two. They have loaned me a car when I needed to be someplace and they were working on my car, and they have driven me home so I didn't have to wait in the waiting room when my car had an unexpected problem or took longer than they thought. When our kids were driving age, we even bought a used car from them. Frankly, I was shocked by the negative reviews, but I suppose if you are in business long enough, it happens. read more

Gil's is a family and they treat every customer as an an extension. They are honest, trustworthy, courteous, professional, super fast, and by the way, their techs know their stuff. What I love about service is the long-term approach they have. Gil's will evaluate your vehicle for repairs and needed maintenance and only push what is absolutely necessary for your family's safety. Everything else is put in notes for future visits. Lastly, we had an experience where our newborn got locked in our van (it self locked with the keys inside). This is a family run business that has been around for a good long time. A coworker of mine highly recommended them so I tried them out. The staff is very professional and friendly. The office and waiting area are very clean and inviting. They took great care of my 2002 Jetta that just needed some TLC and my 2005 Prius that was sitting in my driveway not working. I had it towed to them and now its back on the road! Their prices are fair and the staff is very knowledgeable. I found my mechanic!!! From now on this is the only shop for me!! read more

Gil's is great. This was our first experience using their service. I dropped my car off in the morning with a list of items I thought needed to be fixed and returned at the end of the day to be told that everything checked out and what I though was wrong was fine. I was planning on a bill that would exceed $ 500 for what I though needed to be done, but instead my bill was $ 30 for an oil change! It is great to find an honest mechanic! I took my Corvette in for new tires and some minor engine work. I was also planning on new brakes for the following month. I was told, after an inspection by several mechanics, I still have more that 5K miles left on the old ones. So I do not have to get the brakes replaced. I'll be heading out on a Route 66 trip in April so this was a major concern to me. We have taken all our cars to Gil's since about 1984. As usual, Gil's did good work and the folks there were efficient and friendly. I dropped off my vehicle the night before for inspection and they called before noon to say it was done. Brought my car in for an oil change, tire rotation and multi-point check. I really appreciated the feedback I received from the technicians I spoke with. I recommend you insist on talking to the technician that worked on your vehicle, and not just the salespeople at the front desk. Courteous service. I had a spurious warning light come on saying "Check Traction Control". Then it would go off and stay off. Brought it in to Gil's and left it. They called in two days to tell me that the problem was a wheel bearing and harness. After my OK to do the work they had it done in about 3 hours and called that I could pick up the car. I went to this place after a search online. I was new this area and was looking for a dependable place where I can trust and not get ripped off. I have a 1998 Toyota Camry and check engine light was on for sometime. As usual if you go by the error codes then it's too expensive to fix. Here they did a repair with reasonable cost. I needed a State Inspection and forgot my time... I called and was late! Employee was very understanding and took me in within an hour... I was notified of an oil leak that was heavy and scheduled the appointment which is the basis of this review. I appreciate all your service. This past Friday, I had to bring my car in as I had a nail in one of the tires. I called first and the service person said to bring my car in right way.
