My family and I took the boat to cayo Caracoles. The men working told us to get off on the right side of the boat and several of us got into the water, it was about waist deep. The boat was drifting towards us and a few of us started getting sucked under the boat. The captain then proceeded to turn the motors on. I was right next to the motor and underwater, getting sucked under the boat. I nearly drowned and the two men on board did nothing but throw lifejackets out into the water, which none of us could grab because we were nearly drowning. My husband saved my father in law and myself. We were bleeding and scraped up from the side of the boat. They refunded our money but I would never recommend a tour with this company. Their employees did not act quickly when several of their passengers almost drowned. read more

This was the only company in the area that had availability for bioluminescent boat tour. I now know why. We asked if the boat had a glass bottom, to which the lady working pointed to the poster and said "that's the boat." Turns out the "glass bottom" is just two small rectangles that only 4 people can see at a time. The worker had a bad attitude and did not seem like she wanted to be there. Made reservations via Nancy. Was told to be at Johnny's at 6:30pm for a 7:30pm bio-bay swim and boat ride. Drove over 2 hours to get to La Paregua at 6:15pm. Got our 4 tickets and then waited over an hour to be told as we entered the dock that Nancy made a mistake and that we couldn't go, they overbooked and we had to give our tickets up. My 5yo daughter started bawling and they left us there to figure out what to do. I called Nancy a dozen times over the next 20 minutes and she finally answered. I was then told that we could wait another hour to get on the next boat or nothing. My kids wanted to wait and go so even though I was pissed, we waited. As the group got off the boat we were supposed to be on, they told us that there was nothing to see, they only got to swim for 3 minutes and one of them got stung by a jellyfish. I demanded my money back. Such a waste of 6+ hours. No organization, no customer service and clearly no idea what they are doing other than running a scam. Had the worst experience last month, my husband and I haven't had a vacation for more than 5 years, we finally made it happen last month and with a tight schedule we had planned out our week and itinerary, the Tuesday we went we were supposed to pay for the boat where your aloud to swim at the bay, this was supposed to be a special occasion, I talked about this to my husband all the time on how much fun this would be. When I bought the tickets I was never told there was 2 boats, one allows you to swim the order is just a ride around the bay, I only found out after we had gotten on the boat and it took off so you have no option to get off. I complained for not disclosing this to me and the only offered for us to pay the difference and come back the next day. I was so upset I cried for robbing us of a once in a lifetime experience. I will never recomend anyone to go there and spend a dime all they care is about money, that's all you are to them. This is bad business.and 0 customer service. Never been so disappointed. read more

They offer tours to the bio-bay for Cash Only, ($15/person) and there was nothing to see but a guy swiming around the boat, which never even activated the micro-organisms. When we contacted the booth where we purchased the tickets, we were connected via phone with the susupposedly owner/adm, to express our concerns, he was very rude n hung up the call. I believe this is why they only take cash only, so no charge backs take place for their poor services. Do not waste your money. read more

Visited with a group of 21 people. Gina's and Johnny's Boats took us to Isla Mata La Gata for a fun and adventurous day at the little island. We visited on a Tuesday and thought the service was ok. They charged us $10 per person. The island is pretty fun, you can either swim on a small swimming area, explore some offshore coral, or simply relax and listen to the waves. We went on a Tuesday morning and there were hardly any people, but I'm sure on a weekend or holiday it can get pretty crowded. The island has 10 grills and you're allowed to take pretty much anything. It has restrooms, but they're pretty dirty. The boat trip and whole experience was pleasant. And we had a lot of fun. The four stars are because on the way back from the island they didn't take our whole group; broke us up and returned us in two trips (idk why) we where fine on the way there. read more

We took a late night tour with them to see the bioluminescence water. Boat was clean, the hosts were nice, the boat ride was really neat being out on the ocean in the dark. The tour of the bioluminescence water was less than average. There isn't anything much to see. The host jumps in the water and shows you that the water sparkles. It's nothing like the pictures online. Would not recommend this tour other than if you want a nice boat ride! read more

this is the worst experience ever. the lady on the kiosk cursed at everyone that came to complaint or ask her a question. even when they knew there is nothing to be seen, they keep taking groups and peoples money. when you ask for a refund not only they will curse at you they will tell you to wait to someone to call you from management and of course it never happened. read more

Let me start by saying Nancy is AWESOME! We came with a group of 14. She got us right in for $10!! She recommended a fantastic place to eat and walked us there. On the way she took some pictures of our group with the sunset. The bio bay experience was awesome! A beautiful boat ride through the mangroves and then the bio bay. It was magical. Nothing like the photos you see online, but we were expecting that. It was beautifully magical! Short, but that's ok it was $10! Then at the end, Nancy gave us her number and told us to call her if we needed anything on our stay and to enjoy Puerto Rico. Wonderful hospitality from a beautiful place!! Thank you!! We will MOST DEFINITELY recommend this to everyone and we will be back on our next trip to PR! read more

My boyfriend and I took a 2 hour private tour and had the best time! Our captain was very kind and knowledgable about the area. He let us do our own thing without pressuring us for time. The mangroves are beautiful and we got to spend time at 2 islands with a quick stop at a 3rd island. We brought our own beer, waters and snacks. Overall, highly recommend this! read more

Found this ride kinda shady and here's why... $9 to ride the boat and see the "bio bay." When you get the ticket they tell you they will allow you to jump in and swim. When you get out there they then tell you that you can jump in but there is something in the water that will make your skin itch. My daughter and cousin were looking forward to jumping in, so we found this to be very deceiving. They were VERY disappointed. They didn't care about the bioluminescence, they just wanted to swim out there. Really kinda felt like they just didn't want to wait for people to jump out and enjoy the water. Idk... When we were waiting to board the boat, they asked us if we still wanted to go because it rained and it dims the bioluminescent bay. (No refund though). It rained a lot BEFORE we purchased the tickets. Would have been nice if they told us that BEFORE. Again, deceiving. We waited 2 hours around town to go out. Had we known we would have left and skipped it. So... The rain must have dimmed the bioluminescence, so it was just ok. Kinda cool, kinda not. They have a kid jump in and swim so we can see the bioluminescence. They allow you to put your hands in but you can barely reach into the water. The other boat had rails so they were able to reach in further. Ours did not. They also say the boy swimming works for tips and you can tip him if you'd like. There were about 20 people on our boat and 25 on the other. At $9 a head they could pay the kid without making us feel guilty. All in all it was a nice evening 30 min boat ride. They tell you it's an hour but no... It wasn't. read more

You get what you pay. For $10 it's decent enough and a cool experience by itself, and an easy way to do it, BUT it's really, really rushed, the only reason being - to put as many people through a conveyor belt of trips as possible. 2-3 boats go out at a time, arrive at the location, hear a disinterested monotone description of the phenomena, a staff swimmer takes to the water for a couple of minutes between the boats for people to view, then everyone who wants to (a small minority of people on our night) get the chance to jump in the water and swim for about 2 minutes, until everyone is persistently and annoyingly summoned back on boats to return to the pier. It would've been so enjoyable to be able to swim just a bit farther, enjoy the bioluminescence for a few minutes longer and in more solitude - but no, you can't. (You have to find someone to rent you a kayak and paddle on your own, or take a different boat tour to do so.) Also, as other reviewers noted, they take you to mangroves along the shore WEST of the pier, while the main bioluminescent bay is actually in the opposite direction (and marked on Google maps). I can only assume that the one they go to is actually less bright or impressive. You don't need to get tickets or even arrive far in advance - they appear in the booth on the promenade at 6 and will continue selling tickets into the evening as long as there are more people signing up for tours, sometimes ending early, sometimes as late as 11pm, on some peak weekends/holidays. read more

Do not use Johnnys boats for the bio bay experience... I have been to the bay two times before and brought my family to PR and one son wanted to go see it and the other company was not running their boat during the week so we went to Johnnys and instead of going to the left we went right and even my wife, who is from La Pauguera, confronted them and they tried to tell us that was the "other" bio bay in the area... I think they are ripping people off who do not know any better and they did not and apparently do not even offer to refund money... several of the other people on the boat heard us and started asking questions a and were disappointed as well... read more
