I had little expectations going into the evening because of my lack of experience in this type of activity. I enjoyed the whole thing, and even my wife (who can barely swim), got into the water with the dinoflagellates and swam in the dark. It really was an experience. Adriana was an excellent guide and passed the time with interesting stories. Recommended completely. My only gripe, and it's small, is that captain Angel doesn't have the personality Adriana has and can work on that. read more

Wall & reef dive with Chiqui, the most amazing DM! He basically took Valerie and me on a private tour of his favorite parts of the reef where we met nurse sharks, lobster, a super curious and playful porcupine fish named Pablo, and lots of other marine life. El Parguera is absolutely spectacular and Paradise Scuba is a true gem! Everyone who worked there was beyond helpful, friendly and kind. Angel the captain was especially wonderful too and kept us very safe and comfortable. After 4 dives and a bioluminescent bay swim, I can wholeheartedly say that their entire operation was fabulous and I can't wait to dive with them again! read more

This review is for anyone apprehensive about going on the tour. Kiko was very descriptive explaining what would occur on the snorkeling & the bioluminescence evening tour so it reduced my apprehension . Kiko and his daughter are 2nd & 3rd generation owners of Paradise Scuba & Snorkeling, La Parguera.(well established tour) Angel & Chiqui, our guides, gave us educational & interesting info about the microbiology of the organisms causing the bioluminescence. I have a tendency to get lost( no matter what) so it was a relief to see Angel and Chiqui standing in the boat "keeping watch" over us while we were snorkeling. We were exceptionally lucky to be able to see such bright luminescence. I made "snow angels" under the water and it was like watching fireworks in the sky- so magnificent! This was about 7;30-8:00 pm. Earlier we snorkeled while walking on the bay bottom and saw many fish, babies and adults and big, harmless fish swimming around us, hoping we would through a piece of food, but we did not do so. It is important to make reservations ahead of time to secure a trip. We were just fortunate to make the tour the day before we were leaving. This was my favorite experience of a week in Puerto Rico.! read more

This dive shop is located on the southwest side of the island. i was staying in the San Juan area which made for a lengthy drive in the early morning in order to catch the boat on time. Doable, but I wouldn't recommend it...instead, find a local hotel or rental in La Parguera. Rates are better than in SJ. Definitely a first class dive outfit. All of the staff I interacted with were true professional. The equipment I rented from them was in good shape too. Their dive boat us just a short walk from their shop. They provide complimentary water, soda, and beer on the boat. Lastly, they also had the best prices I found. We dove Blackwall and Ocho de Mayo. Both sites were full of life and visibility was at least 80 feet if not more. I was told the hotel dive site in San Juan wasn't very good and the area was limited in size. So I'm glad decided on these guys. I'd definitely dive with these guys again! read more

Great trip. I e been on many snorkeling trips from Key West to Maui and I've never had guides teach me so much. And they picked up creatures (when it was safe) and let us touch a conch shell, a sea cucumber and a (shed) lobster tail. I've never had that experience before. The bioluminescent swim was amazing. We went with my parents in their 70s who weren't completely comfortable with the open water swimming, but they offered us floatation belts, had several knowledgeable guides with our group, and helped my mom return to the boat when she got tired. In addition to making my parents feel comfortable they were knowledgeable and did a great job of finding and showing us sea creatures on the swim. After dinner, we went back out for the bioluminescent bay. We'd done the Laguna Grande trip earlier in the week. While Laguna Grande was far brighter than the La Parguera one, we enjoyed getting to see them both and having different experiences - and again Paradise Scuba did a great job organizing the trip! read more

My husband and I did the daytime + bio bay snorkel trips and I came back the next day for a two-tank dive. We had an amazing time snorkeling around, watching the sun set, and then of course seeing the bioluminescence. We went during the new moon and everyone had a blast swimming and lighting up the water. The next morning I came back and dove the wall and another reef. It had been a few years since I went diving, but I felt completely safe and well taken care of. My friend and I went on their bioluminescent bay snorkling tour. They divided us onto different boats so there were only 6 other people on our boat. Our guide was friendly and knowledgable, and the empanadillas were delicious. We first stopped at isla mata de gata, where we sent for a sunset swim in beautiful, warm Caribbean water. From there we went on a maybe 20-30 minute ride to the bay, where they explained the bioluminescent organisms and then let us snorkel for around 30 minutes. This was honestly the perfect amount of time. the day we went, the moon was pretty bright, but they arranged the boats so we would have a good view and told us where would be the best places to see the bioluminescence. honestly, it was amazing and so incredible--like sparkles or stars in the water. I would 150% recommend this dive shop for dive trips! The entire experience, from booking to the dives was top notch. Kiko the owner was flexible and accommodated our group (2 of which needed check-out dives). His daughter helped with booking and answering our questions. Cachi was a great dive master and led us on a great tour of the Wall and the Forest reef. For the check out dives, he patiently worked the new divers through their exercises. Chompi was great and took a lot of photos and shared them with the group. On the second day, Tony and Cachi led us on another great tour of two new reefs. The evening Bio Bay tour was one of the best experiences I've ever had! This is the only bioluminescent bays that you can swim in, and it's amazing. I went with my family on vacation and came back with my coworkers on my return trip to the island. It's 100% worth the drive to La Parguera. The staff was amazing, the boats are in great repair, and they provided little extras (beer in addition to water/soda) that we didn't even expect. read more

I booked the guided/non certified scuba diving tour for my husband and I. It was the first time we had ever gone scuba diving so we were both a bit anxious but our guide was there every step of the way. The visibility wasn't great so he would literally give us his hand whenever we needed it and pointed out things like their resident moray eel. Later that same day, we did the bio bay tour. For that, we had great guides and the empanadas were unexpectedly wonderful. Hot and flaky. So glad to see tourism coming back to areas like PR! Would definitely recommend this company. PS: before you book the bio bay tour, pay attention to what stage the moon is in. If you don't know, call them. The less light the better! read more

The instructors Edu, Sara, Megan and Boat Capt Ángel were absolutely a top notch team. Spent about 45 min visiting the amazing reef wall and got some much needed extra instruction from head instructor Edu. Took my 3 grandchildren ages 5, 7 & 10 on the snorkel/bio bay tour and they absolutely loved it! The staff was terrific with them. They took them around the reef and dove down to bring things to show them. My granddaughter loved the sea cucumber! Then we had a nice dinner back at the dock before we headed out to the bio bay. Amazing experience!! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They take safety seriously but also know how to have fun!! Beautiful views, amazing sunsets, and so much to see with aquatic animals. I'd recommend staying nearby for one night just to do this because the plaza becomes very lively with music and entertainment once you return. Had a great experience. Took my daughter who is not certified on the "Discover Scuba" package. I myself am certified but it has been so long that I felt like i needed a refresher also. She was a bit nervous at first and getting more and getting increasingly more as the dive neared. The instructor took his time, explained everything in an easy to understand manner. His English was very understandable. He was very attentive to her comfort level and really did a great job of gauging her confidence. He took us on a nice dive that was very appropriate to her ability. I am sorry I can't remember his name in particular but all the staff was great If you are considering this trip, by all means book it. They are super professional, pleasant and very safety conscious. We went snorkeling and then to the bioluminescent bay. The girl that left the snorkeling adventure was very informative and did a wonderful job. The team made sure everyone was comfortable and safe. Most importantly they made sure no one got too close to the reefs to ensure they didn't get damaged. The bioluminescent bay was AMAZING. What a phenomenal trip. We did both the afternoon snorkel and the bio luminescence bay in the evening of October 26, 2022. The crew was fantastic. Cachi our captain knows the Parguera area like the palm of his hand. He thoroughly enjoys showing-off "his playground" as he calls it. He is very conscientious of not disturbing the marine life and at the same time highlighting all the fish and coral that even a trained eye might miss. He pointed out Spotted Spiny lobster, an Octopus, a Giant Hermit crab living in a Conch shell, Yellow line Arrow Crab, Sea Cucumber and Brittle Star fish amongst others. In the evening, we went back to experience the bio-luminescence bay! It was fantastic and magical. You feel like you are swimming in a sea of glitter. The owner, Kiko, and his daughter Ana, were a pleasure to do business with. It truly was a magnificent experience for our group. Buy their insulated aluminum tumblers, they keep the drinks cold for over 8 hours without melting the ice. Well worth the $25, and they come with a reusable metal straw. read more

We booked a sunset tour and a swim at the bioluminescent bay. The experience is one I would definitely recommend. The staff was absolutely fantastic. They were helpful, friendly, knowledgable and safe. We were such a large group that they split us into two boats. My wife and I were the elders of our group as the rest of our party were currently in their college years. Along with the experience, you get your choice of two pastelillos (empanadillas), beer - Medalla Lite of course, water and soda. You also have the option to bring a few of your own brews as well. They sunset was absolutely beautiful. We first stopped at a little island not far from the cost of La Parguera. We got to walk around and enjoy the remainder of the sunset. There is nothing better. We then headed tot eh bioluminescent bay. The staff explained clearly about the bacteria and why it lights up. When you get in it as some people describe it as being surrounded by a silver colored fairy dust. It truly is spectacular. Also, because you are so far out way from the lights of civilization, you get the most amazing starry night. I hadn't seen the brightness of stars like that for some time. I would love to do It again and hope that you will serious consider the experience. read more

This is the most unique experience ever! I highly recommend it! The staff was great and everyone was so nice. They give you a choice of chicken or vegetable empanadas and drinks. Adults can have beer, but they also have coke, sprite and water. First we went to an island that has mangroves and a man-made beach. We stopped here for about 45 minutes and then we headed to the bay as the sun was setting. Once we got to the bay, the captain explained the reasons for the bioluminescence. I hadn't see anything glowing as the water moved against the boat, but when we got in the water, it looked like green glitter in the water when you moved. It was so cool. It was like the stars were in the water. This is once in a life time experience. read more

I booked a beginners scuba tour here. As it turns out I was the only person on the boat that day - lucky me. At the shop I was fitted for a vest, mask, and fins. Capt. Angel drove the boat out to the reef, while Tony went over the basics of scuba. Tony is an excellent instructor. His instructions are simple and easy to execute. After exiting the boat into shallow water Tony went over the skills again making sure I could demonstrate them and we were off to the reef. Tony checked in with me often to make sure I was okay, monitored my air level and pointed out interesting things on the reef. He was attentive but not intrusive and I really enjoyed the dive. There were refreshments on the boat as well. I highly recommend them if you're considering scuba on your trip to PR. read more

Our family had three snorkeling and two drivers. Our outing included two stops. One person in the group gets seasick but did very well because the crew made the ride out and back very smooth. It was also a very quick ride and exceptional experience. The snorkeling group had a guide as well as the dive group. I originally thought that would take away from the experience but it made it so much better. Both guides would point out unique items in the water. The snorkeling group had an opportunity to lightly touch conch, sea cucumber, sea star, and many more things. The only thing that could have improved the experience is a bit more help for the divers getting back into the boat. My husband is a heavy guy so he uses a lot of weight and the crew member didn't help him until he was already on the boat. I'm not sure if that's a normal thing but it would have been more helpful to get assistance with getting in. read more
