Carol has her Masters in Wedding Photography through PPA but also does headshots, family sessions, and more! We loved having a mini engagement session to get to know her better, share our preferred posing styles, and see how beautifully she captured our small moments. Additionally, she met with us before our big day to understand what was most important for her to capture and how our wedding day was scheduled out. When the big day came, Carol went above and beyond to photograph every big and small moment. She adjusted us as needed but also let us organically react in each moment. We had been to a lot of weddings. We'd seen photographers stand in the aisle, make family members…read morewait for hours to take one or two group shots, and interrupt the party. We'd seen photos come out grainy, low-contrast and with hideous logos and watermarks stamped over top. So when we started looking for our wedding photographer, we knew what we didn't want. It seemed like an impossible task to find the right person... but, as it turns out, Justine was the first vendor we booked. While we were impressed with her portfolio, it was Justine's desire to actually get to know us as a couple (beyond wedding details) that sealed the deal. We talked about her process and pricing, but also our shared love of food and exploring. It made the entire process so much more personal and enjoyable, and I honestly believe the photos were better because of it. Justine worked with us to get everything we wanted (including engagement photos and a second shooter) within a reasonable budget. I was nervous about "posing" for our engagement photo session at the Bronx Zoo, but she made sure the day was comfortable, low key and laid-back. She gave us enough direction to not feel awkward, but not so much that we looked posed. Justine was organized and responsive throughout the planning process and made sure we were on the same page with our shot list and timeline. She was also sensitive to our family dynamics and religious rituals, which was greatly appreciated. By our wedding day, Justine felt like an old friend. She was a calming, unobtrusive presence on an otherwise overwhelming and emotional day. She had the patience of a saint during group photos with our extremely large, loud, distracted families. She managed to get so many great candid shots during the ceremony and dinner without our guests even noticing! During the party, Justine was on the edge of the dance floor with her camera, getting great shots but also genuinely enjoying and capturing the vibe of the party -- which we (and our friends) loved. Justine had photographed several weddings at our outdoor farm venue before (which was actually how we found her!), but she managed to infuse our photos with a unique flavor that really reflected the feeling of our day. We are over the moon with how they turned out!! On Justine's next trip to NYC a few months after our wedding, we grabbed dinner together. She clearly cares deeply about her clients and her work, and we are so glad we chose her.

Ese was our photographer for our big day, and he was wonderful! He was very creative, and had…read morenumerous suggestions for where we could take beautiful outdoor shots (we chose the Japanese Gardens in Geneva, IL which were incredibly beautiful). He set up a beautiful and emotional first look for us there as well. I loved that he personalized my package for what I was looking for (I had a breakfast in the morning I was hoping he could photograph- and he said no problem), and that he got all of the big moments in our day- from getting ready until the very end- he literally traveled around with us all day. My favorite part was that we walked from the church to the reception hall and he had someone in my family move his car over so he could walk with us and photograph our private moments together. Ese is friendly and fun, and my bridal party enjoyed him throughout the entire day. He definitely shoots in the photo journalistic style, so there will not be a lot of time spent on "group shots" unless you specifically ask. Ese is a bit pricey, but his price included the day- I never felt like he was going to say, "your eight hours are up, I'm leaving even though there are still big things to happen" which is different than many photographers I've seen at events. Photographer is one of the most important wedding day decisions and I was so pleased with our choice. Definitely check out his site- you will not be disappointed.

They are prompt and responsive so you don't need to keep emailing them to reach out or remind them of things. They pay attention during your meetings so you don't end up repeating yourself- they understand exactly what you're looking for/what kind of couple you are/what you'll end up caring about and then make a super individualized video for you. They gave the perfect amount of direction to us throughout the day, so my husband and I look natural- not awkward or forced- but we have all of the gorgeous romantic/epic moments you'd want in a wedding video. Anna is SUPER creative so she had me do little things for the camera that came out GORGEOUS (ex: she had me walk down the hallway and open the double doors to my bridal suite and I look like a QUEEN in that shot). They even split up- so Anna filmed my morning, while Artem filmed my husband's morning-before coming together for the 1st look and rest of the day's events and the film product ended up so cohesive with such an epic style. I think because they're two married artists, they have a deep, almost telepathic understanding of what will work so Anna and Artem would be filming us without having to talk to one another and interrupt/ruin a candid shot as it was unfolding or make us reenact things. These 2 can communicate just by looking at each other so they were able to capture us genuinely laughing or talking and those little natural soundbite pearls made the video extra special for us. Anna and Artem are such pleasant, loving, genuinely empathetic people that made a stressful day feel safe and relaxed. They have such a wonderful disposition and energy. I spent over 12 hours with them and never one time felt irritated, even during moments of stress (which you will inevitably have on your wedding day!). Lastly- Anna and Artem worked super well with my 2 photographers- which I didn't realize would be so important! 312Film would create a situation or give us direction on something to do and it gave our photographers some of their best shots/our favorite pictures. If you're shopping around- just take my advice and hire 312Film. You will not regret it. They are worth every penny and I'd use them again in a heartbeat!
