For Cache: First impressions were off the hook. Went here with my wife for our anniversary dinner and they went out of their way to make it special. Food was very good. Portions were good and flavors were really great! Hands down though the service was amazing. From the barkeep to the hosted to waitstaff everyone was welcoming and attentive. This place has managed quite a turnaround. When I initially visited, almost nothing was appealing. The food was bad, the service was meh, yet the prices were steep. While the latter still rings true, it seems as though they've got most of the kinks worked out. While I think the food could still use some work, it's come a long ways. G & B is over-rated. Saturday night meals in the Cafe were dreadful. A couple of tablespoons of over-diluted mashed potato accompanied over-cooked fried chicken and over-cooked chicken fried steak. Both plates came with ONE large brussel sprout cut in half and blackened on a grill. Could not cut it with a knife. High noise level in this room thanks to a tipsy party in the group room with the sliding doors left open and someone in the coffee bar who decided to vacuum out the pie display during dinnertime. Never have I been more excited to eat somewhere and let down so badly. It's clear that a lot of money has gone into transforming this building to put off a fun vibe that entices you in, excites you by the tasty looking (but extremely expensive) pies, and even has an interesting menu. The food was poorly executed. I ordered a cauliflower steak and my partner got biscuits and fried chicken. Both had little to no flavor. That is not an understatement. The biscuits and fried chicken were recommended by the waiter but the biscuits were dry, the chicken was not crispy and lacking flavor. We were really disappointed by our visit. Let me just start by saying this place is outstanding...there's so much to see inside and the bakery is awesome. I went for breakfast one morning and had the breakfast burrito which was delicious but it was so big that I couldnt finish it all! Colorado Springs could learn alot from this place, being there arent any cool places like this down south. read more

Had a pretty disappointing first experience here. We ate at Cafe, the breakfast and lunch place here. Two of us at our table ordered the Signature Omelette, which has four ingredients. Both came without the goat's cheese. It took a while to flag down our inattentive waitress. Her solution was to bring us some goat cheese crumbles to add after the fact. No "I'm terribly sorry" or "Would you like a newly cooked omelette?" or "I'll take something off your bill." The wheat toast on my order wasn't truly toasted. Although there were vague signs of browning on a small part of the crust the bread part wasn't toasted at all and it wasn't warm enough to melt my butter. Empty water glasses weren't ever refilled. But the fried breakfast potatoes were very good. Overall, not a great experience. read more

A beautiful building no doubt. Not sure of parking since we walked. We ate on a Tuesday afternoon at the Cafe. Yes, it is noisy as so many others have noted. Hire a sound engineer and address the noise. Service was good. Food: The mac and cheese was slightly above room temperature. The seared beef salad was average at best, the beef could have had more seasoning. Hope the owners read the reviews, it has great potential. read more

I HAVE TO BE HONEST.... THIS PLACE IS DANK!!!!!!! I think I may have found my LITERAL favorite restaurant! I came here about a month ago and right away from the outside of the building I fell in love with it's vibe. I came inside and fell more and more in love. The first time I came I got the Eggs Benedict on their biscuit and it was TO. DIE. FOR. No joke, I teared up eating it. It was heavenly. The biscuit crumbles and melts in your mouth. I told my boyfriend after my first bite that I would be happy coming here for every future date. Tonight, he gave me an option of another place and Ginger and Baker, and when I grinned he knew this is where I wanted to go. I had been wanting to try the chicken pot pie and had probably mentioned it 10 times since the last time we came here.... so tonight I ordered it and HOLY SHEEEEEEET. This was the best chicken pot pie of my life. It has that rosemary taste that I love and was creamy and delicious on the inside and crispy on the outside. My boyfriend got the country fried chicken and he was literally moaning as he ate it..... we both were. We both started eating the meal like normal humans and then about half way through saw opportunity to make it even better. He asked for honey and put some of his chicken on the biscuit and made himself a Texan honey-butter chicken biscuit and was beside himself with joy! I started pulling the crust of my pie off and putting a little bit of butter and jam on it and it was a TREAT!!!!!! They were truly the meals that kept on giving. I WILL be back and cannot wait to keep trying more of their menu items. And Trevor was our waiter both times we came and absolutely KILLS it with service, he is phenomenal at his job. read more

Had dinner in The Cafe. The house salad was nicely done. The citrus vinaigrette was a nice touch. Ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken. The chicken was way over cooked. It was hot in the middle, but every trace of moisture from it was long gone. Tools were required to get through the nearly concrete breaded crust. The biscuit was tasty, but also very dry. The meal might have been saved with some country gravy, or some jam for the biscuit. Overall, not a meal that I'd run across town to eat again. read more

Ginger and Baker is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The portions are a great size (I always have leftovers) and if you like chai lattes, the Pi Chai is SO DELISH and creamy. The pies are delicious as well! I've tried most things on the menu and they are all yummy. read more

I hate to do this - but I have to decrease my rating. My fiancé and I had been to Ginger and Baker for two classes at the teaching kitchen, and another time for afternoon cocktails. We were highly impressed and planned on having our rehearsal dinner there in the fall. Service was subpar - we asked to be seated inside and were sat in a table outside in full sun. We asked to be moved inside and the waitress was very annoyed. Our service was poor for the rest of the experience. I will also note that there is a tall gentleman bartender here who is EXTREMELY rude. We sat at the bar when it wasn't busy and when he spotted us he turned his back to us and was mouthing something to his co-worker and stamping his foot. I would guess he was going to leave but us sitting down meant he had to stay? Not sure, but he refused to speak to us the ENTIRE time we were there, and ended up standing at the opposite end of the bar while his co-worker served us. she was fantastic, but his behavior left a sour taste in my mouth. After these incidents we decided to have our rehearsal dinner somewhere else and we haven't been back in several months. read more

Ordered a pumpkin and apple pie for Thanksgiving. The process to order online was very easy, even with a special request. The pies were truly "the best ever" according to everyone. Really, so so delicious. While not inexpensive, the costs reflects great ingredients, fabulous crusts, and overall, an excellent bake. Very happy customer :) read more

Last Saturday my husband and I went for a friend's birthday dinner. Ordered the mussels and had to send it back because it tasted rotten. Not the best mussels there. My coworker and I went in for brunch after a workout around noon on a Saturday. The restaurant itself was full (30 minute wait), but there was plenty of room at the bar and we sat down next to a very friendly family with some great looking bread pudding french toast. The entire experience was phenomenal. The bartender made a delicious Irish coffee that came out nice and hot just minutes after I ordered it, as did our appetizer. The bartender was fantastic, a joy to talk to, full of suggestions, and extremely attentive. We were so thrilled with the service and the food (try the from scratch berry cheesecake for dessert) that we asked to speak to the manager. We were extremely surprised to hear they had been struggling with poor reviews. We plan to become Saturday regulars and will likely be sitting at the bar each Saturday around noon with some Irish coffee, fantastic food, and giant smiles on our faces. Come join us! read more

For a fairly new place entering into a very competitive market in Fort Collins I would have expected better. Everything was over priced for not being anything special. Nothing was bad but nothing was great either. You were really paying for the experience and while the building was fun the service was far from good. I so wanted to like this restaurant but they've messed up my order so many times and during Covid their phone system to place an order To Go or for pick up was a joke. When I questioned the person at the front counter her response was "Well I'm only one person" but you can't even answer the phone. They're so unpredictable you never know what the food or service will be like. I left my name and number hoping to get a call to follow up with some suggestions but that resulted in nothing. No response what soever. If this was my establishment I'd want you know what my customers thought and how my staff were treating customers. There's so many other places that want your business don't waste your time or money on this place. It's obvious they don't care. read more

Chicken Pot Pie all the way! We had a large party of nine that they couldn't accommodate, so we split into two tables which was just fine. Ordered the squash soup with pumpkin seeds and it was not great: too thick (like porridge) and not a lot of flavor. The chicken pot pie, however, was delicious. I do not believe the owners ran a pilot meal through their business 1. No parking 2. Hostess dissappeared to go get menus somewhere.? Why not place at hostess station, novel idea. 3. Huge coffee cups, rationed pours! Give me some ice with that cold coffee! 4. Waitress dissappeared into kitchen for cream & sugar.Even a good brekfasr place knows b'fast eaters want that at the table. 5. The flagship item,"Breakfast Pot Pie", advertised on thier web page, waitress stuttered, "we haven't figured out how to do the pie part yet". Are you kidding? We paid $7 for 2 cups of cold coffee and left to go to an old downtown staple, The Silver Grill. 6. Don't waste a good meal, time or your money at this joint. We went mid week to the Cache and had a choice of tables inside. We could not take advantage of the roof due to weather issues. I had the salmon and my wife had the halibut and both were excellent and well prepared. Others at the table ordered scallops and duck and everyone seemed happy with their choices. The six of us shared the octopus and tuna tartare apps and they were also very good. Dessert was key lime pie which was a fitting way to finish an excellent meal. The only down side was the noise level in a mostly 1/2 full restaurant -----unacceptably loud and this is probably less of a problem out on the roof. Love the food options - from homey, comfort food (the pies are to die for) to elegant and (very reasonably priced) dishes upstairs at The Cache. Wow. I really really wanted to love this place. The owner was pleasant, the staff...well... first of all I don't like fake enthusiasm that goes over the top. I wanted to wait until I had the experience of all three areas - the coffee and bakery counter, the breakfast place, and the upstairs restaurant - before I did a review or commented. So here is what I experienced. The food upstairs was expensive and of average quality. Nothing was stand out, nothing made me want to go back. It was all overpriced and under exciting. I ordered the key lime pie for dessert, and asked for a pairing, as we had done for our entire meal. I was brought a lovely cab franc to pair. It was so nice I asked for a second glass. At no point was I informed that those small shots of cab franc were $30 each! We frequent Chimney Park, in Windsor. If the wine pairing is high (and by this I mean more than $12) the guest is informed before the pour. We spent well more money than the chef's tasting menu at Chimney Park would have cost. The mediocre food was a disappointment. The fake enthusiasm was hard to take. And the lack of communication was rude and unacceptable. The breakfast place was less than average. I ordered a three cheese omelet. It arrived cold, with the cheese unmelted. The waitress didn't check back with us, so my meal went uneaten. It was graciously removed from the bill, but I was hungry and out of time when we left. Alas, I also was disappointed with the coffee bar. I frequent Italy, and was expecting at least a good cappuccio. It was too watery, and cold. I so enjoyed, however, the cinnamon espresso roll that I had that morning, that I went back for another (to go) a few days later, only to discover the woman behind the counter had never heard of that item. She told me they are still experimenting with what to carry in the bakery, and that was probably just a test item, as they don't make that as a regular offering. I am so disappointed that the actuality of this place fell so far short of the promises. If you want to charge so much, deliver a good product. I've had better food-truck food. At a fraction of these prices. Sorry, Ginger. You are cool, but these issues are not. read more

I left two thirds of my lemon meringue pie today. Yup, left it, and the camomile did not have me feeling calm. The pie was tart, tart, sour and the crust was so thick as to be tough. What a let down. Too bad I had an out of town guest! It was nicely cut and served by a friendly server. Lots better pie in to be had in the ol' town. They need to get the Crisco out, the butter in and double down on the honey. Decor is nice tho. read more

Food poisoning. Stay away! My company had a dinner meeting this week. The vast majority of our party had steak. Four of us ordered salmon with mushrooms and immediately experienced the effects of food poisoning when we got back to our hotel. It has been a few days and I am still not 100%. Do Not go to this restaurant unless you want to take the risk of getting sick! Totally inexcusable! I need to contact the health department as well. read more

Phenomenal breakfast/brunch!! I got the breakfast skillet with scrambled eggs and it was *chefs kiss.* it was also a ton of food!! My friend I were with got the biscuits and gravy and raved about them. And I can't forget to mention the potatoes - whatever those bad boys are seasoned in is perfection. My daughter and granddaughter ate at Ginger and Baker for the first time on Friday morning ... it was Fantastic ! Atmosphere was so open and inviting from the time we were greeted at the host station they were so nice and welcoming and our server was Great :) the menu was full of wonderful options and the food did Not disappoint it was so flavorful ! Granted pancakes were a little salty for some reason .. the rest of the food made up for it !!! It's a definite must ' oh and did I mention there fantastic Pies !!!! Easter Brunch was amazing. This was our first time dining at The Cache the food was amazing. Everything about G&B is fantastic. The food & drink selections are outstanding. The atmosphere is historic (literally) and the service is really wonderful. Ginger and Jack have done an amazing job with the property and really created an anchor for the Fort Collins community. If you're from out of town, I would definitely add this to your list. The work they put into saving and restoring the historic property is worth the trip. But don't skip the food, or else you will be disappointed. read more
