I love Ginger & Baker! I have been going there regularly since they opened and have had several celebrations there, client dinners, and also coffee/pie meetings! We went to Ginger and Baker on a Sunday morning and were told there was a 45 minute to an hour wait. This was a little surprising as we saw many open tables. However, we were able to grab a seat at the bar and were quickly given menus and waters. The menu had some great options and the coffee beverages and bloody mary was excellent. The food was awesome. We ordered the biscuit Benedict and the chicken and biscuits and both were superb with generous portions. The reason we are only giving three stars is because the service was pretty awful. Our bartender (and therefore waitress as we were sitting at the bar) was distracted and slow and forgot items that we had ordered several times. It took about 30 minutes to get our food and we watched as tables were left uncleared long after parties had left; perhaps why there was such a wait? If the service improves, this place could be totally awesome! read more

Ate at the cache up stairs. The architecture/view is top notch and the service was very good. food: The charcuterie board was incredible. Everything was balanced and each bite was perfect. Somebody really knew what they were doing there. The soup of the day (squash) was great. A little too sweet at the end when the balsamic was left at the bottom but I could have mixed it in earlier. My wife and I were both underwhelmed by the entrees though (bison and duck). Four stars is probably high given the let down at the end but the first two courses were so dang good. read more

Came into the Cache on a Saturday night around 9. It wasn't busy, but it took the bartender almost 5 minutes to just greet me and give me a menu because he was helping a couple who came in AFTER me. Him & his fellow bartenders definitely saw me come in first as well. For dinner, I got the prawns, which were seasoned and cooked well, but the dish was way over priced for four pieces and an undressed couple pieces of salad as a "first course". Definitely unreasonable. The roasted side of vegetables weren't anything special either and lacked salt. For dessert, I got the hibiscus pavlova (which was my second choice because they were out of the pie I wanted to try). The pavlova was inedible because the meringue was so hard I couldn't even cut it with a knife. It was also too big to pick up, so all I tasted from the plate was the pickled rhubarb that was extremely sour even as a "pickled" aspect of the dish. Omg! Went for the first time this morning. Was not sure where to go and opt for the coffeeshop because it looked cozy, chill, baristas looked happy. They were busy, but I got that that eye contact, acknowledgment with a smile that makes you feel welcome. A lady took my order, she had an accent, she seemed in charge, asked me about my day, recommended the chocolate croissant dunked in coffee. This was the first restaurant I tried after moving here, so maybe I'm biased, but coming from a big city, I liked Ginger and Baker! My father and I came multiple times as I was moving in, and the service was always prompt and friendly. I've only had breakfast here but it was well worth it, especially the benedict. Our waitress even gave my dad extra bacon at no charge. I've also been here just for drinks, the drink quality can depend on who is making it for you, but it was still friendly service. Definitely plan to become a regular! read more

My husband and i always take our out of town guest to GB because after they finally settled on a chef the food was great. To our disappointment we went tonight with our friends from Illinois and it was marginal at best even the drinks were awful. I love GB but after tonight I am not sure that we will return. I get it - this place just opened...give them a chance....but honestly unless they train their staff, chances will be few and far between. Gosh, I wish this place held up to how it looks. Went there on 12/29 for a mid-day bottle of bubbles and brunch with a friend to celebrate getting rid of 2017 . Sadly, I felt I still had more to GIVE to 2017 seeing as when we were given "champagne service" I had to AVOID getting shot in the eye because the server 1. held the bottle on her body to open it 2. never EVER covered the cork or the cage while active/nonactive. (Please, if you DO NOT HAVE ANYONE in this establishment that can teach simple bottle service let alone food service to your servers, I would GLADLY teach them for compensation or show you a YouTube video 3. our glasses were filled TO THE BRIM with pink bubbles and my goodness I about stopped her to give her the full rundown on how this should be done. It made for a fun photo but there is actual logistics to not pouring to the brim! I will also mention when a server comes to your table and greets you with "What can I get you?" I feel the need to up and leave. This place clearly spent MILLIONS and yet you're asking guests to come in and spend their (just as) hard earned money to an establishment that cannot even have a proper greeting? Steak and eggs were ordered and I have to admit, I went the next day to Cafe Vino because theirs is fantastic and actually has color and flavor to it. This is the one time I wouldn't have minded a sprig of parsley on my plate. It would've tasted better I'm sure. Steak was cooked MR like I asked, so thank goodness they have that down. I went to season my plate with salt and the salt shaker was empty. TIP: All servers should check S&P everyday. I wish I had something remotely wonderful to say about this place other than visually it's amazing, but I don't. We ate at The Cache. The venue is gorgeous! Money well spent to create an upscale trendy restaurant. Menu options expensive and many not worth the price. Service staff friendly and trying but still have so much to learn - definitely not worth the price. Hope this is a learning curve. Here are some details on the food: Wedge Salad - half a romaine lettuce head (not a wedge) drizzled dressing (you have to look for it and you can't taste it) minimal blue cheese crumbles, 3 halves of a cherry tomato. Needs more dressing and tomatoes. Basically eating lettuce for $12 Charcuterie Plate - nice presentation, good selection. Small portion for the price. Only 3 slices of toasted baguette (tasted stale as a result) not enough. Brought additional bread on request which was warm and wonderful. Lamb Shank - tasteless and a little fattier than I am use to. Needs au jus/sauce and salt. No salt on the table you have to ask for it. Mashed potatoes - tasteless. Green beans were delicious. Pies: Lemon Meringue Pie - crust not fully cooked; Cranberry ginger pie - good taste but was a mousse with whipped cream on top - unexpected presentation. The service staff is trying but has a lot to learn. We ordered wine and kept having to ask for it. Others at our table ordered cocktails - they were finished with those before our wine even showed up. No apologies or offer to bring us something while we waited. Painfully slow - 20 - 30 minutes. The waiter is not the person delivering the food. My wedge salad delivered to my friend who ordered a caesar salad (lack of blue cheese dressing may have been a contributing factor), 2 appetizers were completely incorrect and had to be reordered - which put the pace of the meal off. When clearing plates they continually tried to take my side plate and the Charcuterie Plate had hardly been touched. I twice had to tell them to leave the plate. My husband didn't catch the waiter and therefore we had to share my plate to eat our appetizer. Management came to our table twice to apologize for all the mix up on food. We were visiting from Texas and this placed was recommended to us ... and we are so glad it was! We were immediately greeted when we walked in. We loved the atmosphere of the whole place. Our server, Carly, was AMAZING ... very friendly and helpful! Our food was delicious ... we had the Biscuit Benedict with Bacon and Biscuit with Green Chile Gravy ... I would recommend both! My girlfriend and I made reservations at the Cache. Our waiter was very friendly. We got seated next to the window and immediately noticed how dusty the window sill was which was right next to our face. We ordered the French onion soup, it was pretty flavorless and lacked the richness of a good French onion soup. We then ordered brussel sprouts which were disgusting. They were in a bowl with so much liquid that made them extremely soggy, also flavorless. The smashed potatoes were also awful, they were over powered by the blue cheese chunks, and I am a big fan of blue cheese. My girlfriend ordered the 39 dollar NY Strip that came out grey with a couple char lines. All you could taste was the char and nothing else. Applebees has better steaks than this place. I ordered the 42 dollar braised short ribs. The carrots were the best thing on that plate, everything was completely flavorless. What a disappointment this place was. I feel absolutely robbed that I gave this establishment $190. read more

Had lunch last week and food was very good. Waited a a little long for food to come, and they weren't busy yet, but their fairly new so it may just be a learning curve for the help. Very noisey with the open ceiling concept. So many restaurants do that now cause it's much cheaper to build, so I'd go back outside the usual crowded hours if you can. Theme of this review: "We're working out the kinks" I'm not even going to get into the poorly cooked food at The Cache, let's jump straight to the worst part: After spending over $200 on dry meat and undercooked veggies at The Cache, we headed downstairs for some of this amazing pie we kept seeing on the website. We met with the maitre'd at the bottom of the steps and were shown the way to our table. After waiting 15 minutes to be served, I eventually approached the gaggle of chatting servers to request some service. Visibly annoyed, a server eventually approached us and began to take our order. When I asked about the pie selection, she told me what was on offer, then gave me a total of 5 seconds to decide before stating, "OK, well I'll give you some time" and strolling away and leaving us to wait another 10 minutes while she socialized with the other servers. Once she finally returned, I ordered a slice of apple pie and an old fashioned. The pie arrived almost immediately and appeared to have lost nine rounds in an amateur boxing match. The thing stood limp, battered, and freezing to the touch. When I enquired about the custom of serving ice cold apple pie, I was told, "yeah, we haven't really figured out a way to heat the pie up, since an oven takes so long...so we have just been serving it cold." I was truly astonished; here stood this fancy new restaurant filled with all these bustling young people, and not a single one of them had ever heard of a microwave. Eventually the manager caught wind of our disappointment and came by to get the feedback, which we happily and politely provided. After dining in many restaurants around the world at this price point, I have to admit, I was astonished at his response, which was essentially: "oh yeah, we haven't really figured out the procedures...and we are kinda working out the kinks...pie takes a while to heat up..soo..." SERIOUSLY? Someone call Marty McFly and ask him to bring a microwave back from the past. This place has some serious issues in management and logistics; my only suggestion? Don't work out the kinks on my dime. *My girlfriend says I should mention that the service at The Cache was good. So there. read more

G and B have a ways to go before meeting the high standards of Fort Collins! Went in the morning when my usual bakery/coffee shop was closed on the Monday after Thanksgiving. One thing that has always impressed me about many Fort Collins eateries is the extreme care they put into the food they serve. And there are several really careful shops with trained and diligent baristas in town. Sadly, G and B's version of a cappuccino is more akin of the slap-dash stuff you can get at Starbucks around the corner. Paper cup and plastic lid included even though I mentioned I'd be having it inside. I was expecting some good pastry but the selection was very limited and didn't look appealing, again more like the plastic packaged substance at 'Bucks. After I left, I think I hit on the reason for G and B. Tourist clientele! The coffee shop is full of G and B branded Knick-knack and decor items, stuff that would not appeal much to locals I think. I hope it's not true and that G and B continue to evolve and improve. FC needs more of what G and B could be and less of the restaurant sameness that is prevalent between FC and Chicago. First experience was disappointing so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a second chance for brunch. Let me begin with our first time here. It was a few days after their grand opening, they were busy as expected. We sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks. When we ordered food, we were told that they were out of both items, along with a handful of other items. We each ordered something else and an appetizer. One of the entrees came out about ten minutes before the appetizer, and was gone by the time the other entree and our appetizer arrived. Although we were sitting at the bar, just a few feet from the bartenders, no one checked on us during our meal. Food was good, nonetheless. At the end we ordered pie, only to find out they were completely out of pie. This is fine- but I wish someone would have told us what they were out of when we were seated because we would've come back another time. We came back another day for brunch, with high hopes. After waiting 45 minutes, we were seated on the patio. It took about ten minutes for our server to come by to take drink orders. Another ten minutes passed before our drinks (which were waters) arrived, and when we ordered food we were told that they were out of both items that we wanted, again. Grrr. After much deliberation, we decided what to order. Food took a while. It was nice on the patio so we didn't really mind the wait, however our server didn't check on us at all the entire time, which would have been nice. Our food was delivered by someone other than our actual server, who essentially just set the food down and left, without seeing if we needed anything. The food was good, although the hash browns were just deep fried shreds of potatoes that were bland and overly crunchy. Our server only checked on us once we were already finished, plates stacked and waters completely empty. Overall, I love the idea of this place. I love the menu options but don't like how they run out of half of the choices early on in the day. The ambience is very nice but the service is lacking. I am hopeful that they will improve with time, but we will not be back for a while. read more

Dinner last night with friends and my son was very good.The atmosphere is unique -upstairs seating that wasn't crowded in nice layout. Service excellent. Salads good ( but expensive) especially a perfect Caesar with anchovies. Most of us had the bison steak, which was very flavorful but tough- not unusual for bison. Portions were small for the price. Desert chocolate pie was excellent. My only complaint is portion size related to price. read more

We were excited to try this after seeing the renovation they did on the mill. It's just beautiful. Went in for lunch or rather one of us had lunch and the other 2 had breakfast (which is served all day). We were seated promptly at 11:30 on a Sunday which was impressive in FTC *but* that is where being impressed stopped. We sat...and sat and were finally asked if we wanted something to drink. We made requests of water for all and 2 alcoholic drinks. The waitress brought the water and took our order. Ten minutes later I stopped her from walking by and asked about our drinks (so this was about 15-20 min after ordering them). She insisted "I haven't forgotten about you" although it was obvious she had. We had our drinks 5 minutes later. Once our food came, it looked good but looks are deceiving. The pros: poached eggs were properly cooked and hamburger patty on burger was properly cooked. Both of these pros are often not cooked properly at other restaurants. Cons: hash browns have zero seasoning, the "mustard bbq sauce" on the burger was simply yellow mustard...no bbq anything to be found. In general, the food lacked flavor and was bland. The atmosphere is beautiful (wood, windows, etc) but it's obvious the owners did not work with anyone who knew anything about sound. With the restaurant not even full, you could not have a conversation at the table without raising your voice. It is VERY loud. That's probably the worst thing about this place followed by slow service and then the bland food. Parking is another issue but Old Town FTC people are used to that. read more

Didn't have a great experience here. The food was delicious for the most part, so that's a plus. Cocktails were overpriced and underwhelming. I don't like making a big deal out of things, so I asked the bartender (the server never came back to check on our drinks) for a couple of lime slices for my cocktail and her eyes rolled so far back into her head I thought she was going to fall down. Am I missing something? Is it rude to ask for limes when a 10.00 dollar drink is laughably awful? When the server came back to check on our meal he made a point to ask if "I had enough limes for my drink." I was just trying to salvage a pricey cocktail, but I don't think this establishment will salvage my patronage again. There was a real disconnect between the kitchen and the bar. The kitchen was doing a stellar job but I felt like the bar and front house were really riding on the quality output from behind the scenes. With all of the wonderful food options in Foco it really takes a lot to stand out and this just didn't make the cut for me. If you do go, I recommend the beet Reuben or cafe burger. Order a beer and steer clear of the mules, yikes. read more

First and last visit. I asked the server if they had gluten free bread for the sandwiches which pretty much EVERY restaurant has now. "No, since we baked the bread, we can't have a designated gluten-free bread because it would come in contact with the wheat." But they have gluten-free pies. Hmmm...how about a gluten-free pot pie? "We can't do that." How about out-sourcing like Canyon Bakehouse in Loveland which has gluten-free? Nope. I know she is a server who doesn't make the decisions, not the owner but her attitude when answering my questions was pretty crappy. Strike one. The table next to us was seated well after us, got their food before us and finally after they were almost done, we got ours. We both had two people at the table. Beautifully decorated space but that alone won't prop up their prices. The service was unbearably slow at Saturday lunch in the cafe. It is extremely noisy. So noisy you really can't enjoy any conversation. Much of the noise came from cackling groups of staff more interested in each other than their customers. They should have invested a few dollars of their millions into some thought of acoustics. That alone will prevent me from going back. My vegetable grinder was really good and the house made chips were unique. The rest of my table had breakfast foods that could have come from Denny's. Just didn't meet expectations of the beautiful space. Dry biscuits and mediocre eggs. It's a great looking restaurant with the potential for greatness but they will never get their with the poor management and average at best food. read more

Came in for drinks and an app. We enjoyed the cocktails, I dig the beer selection. We ordered the Colorado fries. I'm not sure what the rest of the menu tastes like, but these were lacking in so many ways!!! The potatoes were so incredibly dry, the cheese was cold, the gravy was lackluster. I was so excited to eat here because the building is beautiful but apparently there guys can't accommodate any parties larger than 2. Was told our party of 5 would take 15 to 20 minutes to seat. We waited for over an hour. When confronted, the crap waitstaff (all white and hipsters, no POC, look like they were hired for their looks alone) told us that it was hard to seat us. No apology. Our friends are there for dinner and said the food was bad and pricy. They fired their chef after a month and apparently are floundering atm. It's so sad---my entire fam was gonna do a cooking class here but we will never spend a penny now. Anyone who has been wait staff before will see that these people have no clue what they are doing. Went here for breakfast this morning. Had heard quite the hype about this place. Ordered the biscuits and gravy and there was hardly any gravy and the biscuits were rock hard. You could also tell that the food had sat for awhile because there was a film around the gravy, but it was cold. The green chile gravy was probably the most flavorful part of the dish, but they only gave you enough for one biscuit. Maybe next time i'll just stick to the pie. read more
