We absolutely love Ginger House Coffee! When we are in Amish County it's always on our go to list! This go around my wife and I got their November Seasonal Favorite: The Frosted Pumpkin Latte, she ordered hers iced, I ordered mine hot. Both were delicious. The service and cafe are always great. It's a very spacious coffee shop. Stop in for your Java fix the next time you're nearby. BOOM!!!! read more

Love this spot! It is our first stop any time we're in Amish country. There is usually a bit of a line but it moves fairly quickly and is worth the wait. They have new drink specials every month and a full menu of tasty coffee (and non-coffee) beverages all the time, as well as hot breakfast and lunch offerings. My husband loves their egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on the pretzel bread and their avocado toast is usually pretty solid. All drinks we've had have been good too! They also have several non dairy options l which I always appreciate. It is nice inside and a good place to hang out and the service is always friendly. Spent the day exploring Amish country with my friend from out of state - we knew we needed a mid-day caffeine break so we swung into Ginger House. I would most definitely recommend this spot if you are looking for the same! The girls working the counter were very polite and helpful. They handed us both our coffees before we were even finished paying. We both ordered a panini: I had the ham and Swiss, she had the veggie panini. They were the perfect size where I wasn't stuffed but I wasn't wishing I had more. They were nothing fancy but they were perfect and light for a simple lunch! There is plenty of seating and natural light in the front. There is also a back room with significantly more seating if you have a larger group or if the restaurant is especially busy. read more

We were on vacation visiting the area and decided to come here. This place is on the main street so you can't miss it. There's a giant coffee cup in front. The coffee shop was pretty big. There's also a back room area. I ordered a caramel latte iced. It's the best cold coffee I have ever had. It was creamy and caramel was perfect. This drink is a must if you come here. Nice spot. I always watch for a local coffee house when we are traveling and was glad I chose this one to visit. The coffee was very good, the barista was helpful and the atmosphere made me wish I had time to sit and relax. We were just driving through the area while on a trip to Cleveland Clinic so I had to take it with me for the ride. Maybe next time I'll spend a little time! read more

A great coffee shop in the heart of downtown Berlin! My husband and I went there to grab some coffee to go to start off our day. There's plenty of spacious seating indoors for those that want to stick around, and also some seating outdoors. They have a great coffee menu, including some pour overs and aero press coffee. On top of that, there are power bowls, and bagels, avocado toasts, etc. my husband ordered an iced latte flavored and I got a pour over coffee. The latte was a tad sweet even with sweetener cut in half, and the pour over coffee was okay. But still good coffee and would def go back again. Coffee prices are average but food prices are fairly reasonable. Hope to visit again some day in the future :) read more

Large, but cozy. Lots of people sitting around enjoying the afternoon. Cute decor, and cute items for purchase. Excellent menu with many options. (My caramel drink was so delightful I still remember it!) Service came with a smile. Place had a steady flow of customers the entire time we were there, which says something in itself. When a local coffee house can make me never want to go back to Starbucks, it's a winner! I ordered an almond milk latte and that drink held its foam throughout a very long car ride! The creamer station has both cinnamon and honey as well. This is a very spacious coffee house so a great place to take a break if shopping or duck on out of the rain for awhile. Such a cute place! We were so pleasantly surprised by the vegan options- they have a few things that are easily made vegan such as a mushroom wrap and a quinoa/lentil bowl. They had two vegan ice cream options and three different plant based milks for drinks. The flavors in the food were so bold and delicious and the staff was so kind! This is more of a coffee house than a restaurant even though they have plenty of very special sandwiches. It's right on the corner of the busiest block in Berlin so we consider it a "must stop by" destination. You can get a great coffee (including cold brew, which is not on the overhead menu board) plus a snack to tide you over until your next meal. The windows are huge, so they're perfect for people watching and the couches and chairs are so comfortable that you might fall asleep. We love this place quite a bit and so does everyone else who visits it. read more

The place was clean and service was quick but was one of the worst mochas i have had. All i could taste was caramel. My girlfriend had a flavored iced coffee and it tasted like sugar water. We had a vege wrap which was OK. I would not recommend this place. read more

Yummy stuff, and decent service. Fast and friendly, and they even directed us to a coffeehouse about 5 miles away where there were pool tables, after being told they had some here. But the coffee here ended up being quite good, and they had a heck of a selection I was very pleased with. If I am ever back in the Berlin area I am sure I will return here for a quick cup of Java. read more

Hi there, Great food, fantastic customer service, this place is ALWAYS busy. Being behind the scenes, ALL the girls working there WORK SO HARD to serve you, each an every customer. Yes sometimes they may be out of the thing you wanted, it's not the Establishments fault they most likely ordered it but where they order it from may be out of stock. All the girls an management are very FRIENDLY an HELPFUL. There is NO ROOM or time for rude or negative comments. These girls are SO BUSY picking up the slack of an absence employee or being short staffed?. There is alot of customers an SO many staff members, staff deserves MORE RESPECT then people give them. Each girl wants to make sure you have all that you ordered an a clean table to eat on. If there is a problem with your order they have NO PROBLEM making it right for you, if they are busy an can't get to you right away please be patient, so they can get caught up. read more

This place is absolutely adorable. Large and cozy at the same time, it's a great place to work from your laptop or just chat with friends. The barista was lovely and fast. I'm really not a fan of coffee. I drink it because it's warm and I've never sipped a coffee drink that I absolutely loved and needed to come back to--until I waltzed into Ginger House and Coffee. The coffee was excellent and during our stay we stopped in twice. We were visiting Berlin and were delighted to find such an excellent coffee house. It's a relaxing atmosphere to sip and chat. Some people were in there working on business, homework, or just reading. I wish I lived near Ginger House Coffee, I would go every day! The service was quick and freshly made. I went here for espresso 6 days in a row while I was cycling in the area. It's a great stopping point at the top of the hill. The espresso was great, their cream sticks are good (and enormous!), the black cherry ice cream is amazing, and the staff was always friendly. It is one of the few places in the area with a real espresso machine. read more

Just arrived in Berlin this evening and stopped in for a frappe with my friend. After our order was taken we stood off to the side and waited and waited and waited all the while watching our empty cups sitting on the back counter as orders taken after ours were filled to those who were obviously from the community as they wore the amish/mennonite attire. I stepped up and let them know we were still waiting and finally our drinks were made. They were very good however customer service to the visitor or as you call the Englisher was very rude. When you show favoritism it is not loving thy neighbor... the ones who spent their money in your establishment just like those who visit regularly. Extremely disappointed in this behavior. BTW someone who ordered several people after us was given their order of 4 in a drink carrier... we were beyond patient. We will find somewhere else who doesn't discriminate. read more

Cute and cozy coffeehouse situated on the main section of Berlin. Bright, cheery colors of yellow and orange make it all the more welcoming. Coffee is good, not great. These are not expert baristas. But as long as you are cool with getting a good cup of coffee and enjoying it in a comfortable atmosphere, Java Jo is a good choice. Free wifi. read more

The name of the restaurant has changed. The coffee was acceptable. My trail bologna with Swiss on a pretzel bun was a huge mistake. I asked for mustard but they don't have it. The broken up end of the bag potato chips were very good. I might go for coffee but not for the food. read more

Stop for coffee every few weeks. The coffee is great and the atmosphere has really been improving over the past few months. The food is great and the coffee is fresh every time!! The Sun dried tomato sandwich is wonderful and my go to drink is always a white mocha. Both splendid! The last time (just before Christmas) I stopped in, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. This time (1.9.15) however, it seemed that they were a bit bothered to have to take someone's order. The girl on register was not confident at all in what she was doing, but was not helped by the other employee. Love going here and hate to see it go down hill. Will continue to go as long as the staff gets it together! read more

She took the order and said she would personally walk it through and it would be shipped out Monday. After still no acknowledgment by my brother by Thursday, I called to find out when it had been shipped but had to call numerous times before someone answered. I was told the order was canceled. When I responded that I had not canceled it, the response was "Didn't she call you?" One of the items wasn't available and she was supposed to ask whether a substitution was acceptable but apparently just canceled the order instead without notifying me. The woman I was speaking with said she would get it sent out but I told her I wanted a refund since it had now been 11 days and the order still hadn't been sent. The good news? I ordered from a competitor Amish cheese company and got more for $25 less!

It was a perfect way to get a sense of the differences between some of the varieties (standard vs smoked vs aged for example). Most cheese could be purchased in blocks, slices and cubes. They also had some beef stick options, dips and cheese fudge. I had never heard of cheese fudge before so was very intrigued. It had a different texture and flavor than traditional fudge but was definitely worth trying. They also have traditional fudge on the other side of the store. There were workers behind the counter actively packing cheese and willing to answer any questions you might have. Much like other tourist attractions, you have to walk through the gift shop to get to the cash registers. The line was kind of long, but it moved fairly quickly. This was a great stop with a lot of tasty products. Definitely recommend a visit!
