This is our go to Thai for takeout in our hood. Super tasty, quick, and a friendly team. Most recently, we ordered several entrees for a small event at our home. I got home and noticed the rice and a couple of sides were missing. Their staff tried calling but because my partner placed the order, we never got the calls. I ended up calling them and they said they'd noticed after I left and tried chasing me down and calling but didn't get an answer. They offered another item on them to make up for the hassle and I was able to go back and get the missing goods plus the freebie. The hostess apologized and even said the manager is happy to speak to me about the issue. Now that's customer service!!! I even confirmed they did try calling us so in this day and age you can't ask for much more. Their pad kee mow is delicious! read more

My family recently ordered takeout from Ginger Thai Restaurant on Mockingbird and we liked our entire experience - from the ease of navigating their website and placing the order online to picking it up within 20 minutes of ordering to eating the mouthwateringly delicious food! Great place. Food cooked fresh when you place your order so don't be impatient if it takes a few minutes. Pretty low key. Customers talking quietly throughout the small restaurant. We ordered a variety of foods to sample. Thai style fried chicken wings, 6-piece, were crispy good. A little sauce on the side if you like. Fried wontons, 6, with ground chicken and shrimp were crispy with the sweet and sour sauce. Finished both off in just a few bites. Pad Thai with Tofu was stir fried which included rice noodles, tofu, bean sprouts, egg, crushed peanuts, were served with a lime with Thai tamarind sauce. Pad See-Ew with chicken was stir fried with big flat noodles, broccoli, egg, and soybean sauce. Both entrées were good. No leftovers tonight. It's always fun to dine with my granddaughter. The flavor on the duck roast was honestly great -- everything tasted really well put together. The only downside was the portion of duck itself felt extremely light. I don't expect a huge serving, but it leaned a bit too heavily on the veggies for the price of $20+, I was hoping for a better balance between the duck and everything else. Just got take-out. Ordered Pad Kee Mow with chicken at spice level 3 along with crab cream cheese wontons. The good first - the wontons were great! Service for pick up was fine. The bad - have to second a review before this one. Oh my gosh the onions!! It was way overloaded with onions. Not a lot of chicken. And the spice level was maybe a 1.5. Eh. Not impressed. Rather disappointed. Sad because it's so close to me. Just not a lot of flavor and it also tasted oily. Weird...but it was definitely oily. Bummer. read more

I got the chicken fried rice, and the portion was great but it didn't have a lot of flavor as I was hoping. Lots of onions. Last time I ordered the rolls with peanut sauce & specified no milk. They said that it was safe/no milk. This time my husband goes to pick up the same order and they say they can't give us the peanut sauce because it's made with milk. So which is it? Poor customer service. Food is ok. Ginger Thai's customer service and food were excellent when they opened in the mid-2000s. Now, their customer service is horrible and the food is ok. The lady who works the Friday evening shift is rude. I ordered my usual: Crab fried rice, Chicken pad Thai and fried spring rolls. I was charged for the Pad Thai, the fried spring rolls, and an entree, $2 less than the Crab fried rice. After she realized the error, instead of waiving the $2, she charged me for the remaining amount even though she charged for me for the wrong entree. After I got my order, I asked if I could have a hot sauce packet since they do not initially provide any sauce with your order. She gave one packet for an order of three dishes. When I asked for one more, she replied firmly, "We charge for extra hot sauces!" I wasn't asking for a handful. I just wanted two sauces for three entrees. After my experience, I'll never dine or place an order to go at Ginger Thai. They lost my business. read more

I can only surmise that the manager must not be the most pleasant boss because the ladies that served the customers were clearly not happy working here. I requested the maximum spicy when ordering the Penang curry. When I got it, it was barely spicy. The waitress wisk it away to bring back a spicer dish. In the mean time I dined on my wife's fish. The most expensive dish but not the most tasty. It was ok. Crunchy. And gave me a slight stomach ache. Anyway, waitress finally bring snack my curry. She brought back the same dish - literally the same order, not a new spicy curry - and yet still not spicy. Fortunately, by this time, the waitress had brought out some spices so I could add some heat myself. Frankly I'm flabbergasted on the level of service and food. If you read my reviews you will see it takes a lot for me to give less then 5 stars. Sometimes I give 4 stars. Though I struggled giving this place 2 stars because I prefer to see the best in establishments. I struggled here to do that. When I was younger I was a server. And my boss once said that now we know how much hard work it is to serve people, when you leave here and go on to bigger and better things, know to always be generous with your tips. That stuck in my mind. I'm a generous tipper. This is the first time in decades I left a place without giving a tip. That really bothered me not being able to find any reason to tip. My husband and I eat at this location frequently and like the food. Today I was eating the papaya salad when I felt something hard in the food as I was beginning to chew. I thought it might be a peanut shell. It was an acrylic fingernail! So Nasty! I was grossed out. When I asked the waiter if the food preparer was wearing gloves, he was vague. He apologized, didn't charge for the salad, and gave us a discount on the meal. Meanwhile my stomach was upset due to the situation, and I couldn't enjoy the rest of my food. I kept looking through the entree to confirm no other fingernails were in it. I just read another review that someone found a used bandaid in their food there.
