Carried out an order for the first time here. I ordered my usual red curry with chicken, no pineapple. We also had the chicken and broccoli, Thai dumplings and pepper steak. The curry was a bit thicker than I'm used to and it's not hot enough at medium rating. Helping was also a bit smaller than I'm used to and not enough chicken. I was shopping for plants at the nursery around the corner when I overheard some people talking about their lunch here so I checked them out. It was not much to look at either inside or out. They are in a converted house, and have been open for over 40 years and honestly I am not sure much has changed. But when you got something that works, why NOT stick with it? Cashew chicken (although hold the mushrooms if you're not in favor of them) was delicious and eggrolls were exceptional!

Amongst all the takeout Thai spots this side of town, Bangkok Inn has been our new favorite. Their green curry fried rice was out of this world! I love little neighborhood restaurants (hole in the wall). But the food here isn't good. I started with vegetable spring rolls. They tasted burned, and if I wouldn't have known that carrots and celery were in them, I would have never guessed. Everything inside was a nasty dark brown color. Hello fellow Yelpers and Yelpetts. I have been coming to this lovely family Thai restaurant for a while. Their service and food is consistently great. The spring rolls are HUGE. They serve these with a delicate with a homemade peanut sauce. These could easily be a lunch/dinner for one person. This is not to dismiss their pork egg rolls, they are also great. I have tried all of their curry dishes. They don't disappoint and..you can order them on a scale of heat your heart and bum desire. LOL. The atmosphere is welcoming when you walk in the door. Service is speedy and attentive. They are also BYOB - so,..maybe a good first date on the cheap..? The restaurant is in a small strip mall, please..don't pass them by. When in the Lakewood area, this is my spot for Thai Food. The restaurant is always calm, and securing a table is rarely a challenge. The items I have tried range from Spring Rolls, Soups, to Pad Thai dishes. All have been tasty, colorful, albeit could be lighter. I started going here in 2020, and it was only tonight that I wandered inside the building to grab my pickup order. It was SO quaint, the way an old library is quaint. My go-to is usually the garlic and white pepper chicken (SO GOOD!) but today I opted for the lunch portion of their beef Pad See Oew and a side order of a cup of Tom Ka Kha soup and it couldn't have been a better deal. For $10 (with my side order of soup), I got enough Pad See Oew to save half for dinner, 2 scoops of white rice, and an eggroll. For. Ten. Dollars. I'm full-blown addicted to their Tom Ka Kha soup. Like, I really shouldn't-eat-it-in-front-of-people-because-I-totally-make-happy-noises-while-my-eyes-roll-back-into-my-head addicted. I came here because I brought a coupon on Groupon and it was decent. I ordered takeout early afternoon during the week so when I arrived there literally wasn't anyone in the restaurant. I have come here for regular meals, celebrations, when sick or dumped, and on carry-out evenings. It is an old standby for me and long a part of my Dallas life. Bangkok Inn serves very nice Thai food for very little money. A few stand outs on the menu are the Basil Leaf with Chicken, the Panang Curry, and the Silver Noodles with Chicken. All dishes can be served with tofu, so vegetarian and vegans should not shy away. The Pad Thai is ok. I often come here for the Tom Yum Kai soup. Delicious. It is BYOB, so plan ahead for your dinner beverages. Small. Cozy. Family run. A great spot tucked into a corner of Lakewood. Worth a stop. The lunch special is a great way to give it a try. I have ordered takeout from here a couple times. They take orders the old school way--you have to call them in with an actual phone. The shrimp pineapple curry is just amazing. Some of the best Thai curry I have ever had, just really flavorful and great. One thing I love about their shrimp curry is that they don't leave the tails on the shrimp--I know it's a minor thing, but I think it makes a difference. The Thai iced tea is super cheap and delicious. The drunken noodles left something to be desired. They weren't bad, per se, but I've definitely had way better drunken noodles. I wanted to grab dinner as I had obligations in the area later in the evening. There are not as many parking spaces in front of the restaurant as there are tables. Fortunately, there is more parking around the corner on Skillman. At the time, the restaurant was not too busy and there was no wait to be seated. Browsing the specialties on the menu, I decided on the Triple Spicy with chicken. Although the description of the dish mentions chicken, I was given the option of choosing something else such as beef. Of the two spicy options medium and hot, I chose the former because I was not accustomed to the restaurant's spicy scale. My order arrived about ten minutes later with a bowl of white rice. Because I chose medium spicy, the heat did not overwhelm the flavor. The sauce was a bit more sweet than spicy. In hindsight, I could've handled the hotter option. Regardless, I still enjoyed the entrée. I'm not a fan of mushrooms and I ate every piece because they absorbed the sauce's flavor. Although the dish is called Triple Spicy, folks shouldn't hesitate ordering it fearing they wouldn't be able to handle the heat. The only surprise of the evening was when I received the check. Prior to this visit, I had only received a fortune cookie at Chinese restaurants. read more

I walked in and was seated really quickly, they even allowed me to choose where I wanted to sit which is quite nice since most other places doesn't allow that. I ordered the pad see ew mild with beef and oh my gosh was it delicious! One of the best pad see ew plates I've ever eaten (I will definitely come back here for more). The sauce wasn't too spicy (I ordered mild since I can't handle spicy food well) and it wasn't too sweet like other places I've been to, it was just right. My coworker ordered a couple of appetizers plates which were the shrimp satay and spring rolls. The spring rolls were rolled fresh per order and weren't refrigerated, which was great since the rice paper wrap didn't harden in some areas and wasn't overly chewy.
