This is great hangover food, but not a Thai place I'd go to on a regular basis! We always get Pad See Ew at Thai restaurants, we're not from here, so we decided to try it out! The noodles were covered in oil, it was way too much oil...kinda soggy. The chicken in the noodles was dry. However the food was hot and spice level was perfect! Love that they have sides of chili oil available to purchase for extra spice. Coconut water was not what I expected. States in the menu that it has the coconut pulp in the water, usually when I see that I see bits and pieces of pulp, but this drink had two huge pieces of coconut so I couldn't drink it (see pictures) it was interesting! We're hung over so the food was still bomb, but not a place we'd go to again. Service was meh. She didn't say hi just asked for name and handed it to me. Didn't even really look at me... just kinda odd!

Service was quick but food wasn't that good. This is the first time I've ordered take out from this location and I always get the same thing drunken noodles level 3 spice, xtra noodles, and mixed veggies along with either the crab cream rolls or the veggie rolls. Not here to complain about the rolls though, the drunken noodles seemed over cooked, too crispy, and have a peculiar aroma. A couple bites in and I realized I couldn't stomach eating the rest. I'm more disappointed in the food but other than that. Nice staff, calm environment, and decent service

It was a good spot to get a light lunch. We wanted to try something homey so we decided to try out this thai/lao place. It is more like a take out/ fast food place, not so much a sit down and order. You have to go up to the counter and order and then sit down. We got a few items on the menu to try. The basil fried rice was good, it had a good amount of flavor of the basil. The thing I enjoy the most was the pad see ew, it was spicy and delicious. I am a high tolerance spice person, so their spicy wasn't spicy at all. However, if you don't have high tolerance, just stick to the low or medium. The tom yum soup was too tart/sour. I didn't not enjoy that dish, the thai tea was oka, it wasn't the best thai tea I have had. The rib bits was good and crispy and so was the chicken wings. The sausage was oka, I perferred the spicy one and this was kind of flavorless. The chicken wings were okay, it was kind of on the try side. The beef jerky was oka, it didnt taste any different and just more sweet. The plating of the food was in takeout containers, it just feels awkward to sit down and eat the food in take away containers. Oh well it is what it is. The services was good, they brought us our food. The food came out fast.

    Fresh Rolls

I've had Zaap a handful of times and I've enjoyed it. I usually get the pad see ew, pad woon sen, or mango sticky rice. Today I ordered the fresh rolls to go as well as the cream cheese rolls. Unfortunately it was a complete miss. The cream cheese rolls were ok, kind of dry on the inside. The fresh rolls were filled about 85% with iceberg lettuce... (I've never seen a fresh roll with iceberg lettuce in it ever). To charge someone $10 for mostly iceberg lettuce wrapped in rice paper is disgraceful. I don't know if they were running out of all the other ingredients so they filled it up with mostly lettuce or something, but that is crazy.

Excellent place for Thai/Laotian takeout! Nearly all the foods here are rich and tasty, with a diverse assortment of textures, flavor palates, and types of dishes (ranging from salads, soups, meats, rice/noodles, drinks, and desserts). The staff is helpful and kind here as well. During one of the times I ordered takeout here, they were running about 5 minutes late with my order and apologized profusely and offered a drink to me for free for the wait (great customer service!) A few things to note: first, they can vary spice levels (including none/level 0) but I'd recommend going lower, as most dishes are quite spicy by default. I would say mild/ level 1 is a good baseline. Second, their Thai iced tea is really, really condensed and sweet. We split it into three cups and mixed them with water, meaning that one of their regular Thai Iced teas can serve 3 people (which is great, considering it's rather expensive). Last is that, for some reason, their in-person orders are about $1 cheaper across the menu than over Yelp's online menu (maybe due to operational costs), so bear that in mind if you order online. Overall, would definitely go back!

Sooooo deliciously spicy. I am a glutton for punishment and asked for level 10 spice out of 5 and they delivered! Generous portion sizes and quick walk up service. It took longer waiting to order than it did for my food to come out. And it was fresh, to boot! I will definitely be hitting up the location closer to home in hopes that they maintain the level of quality and service I received here. I would definitely recommend the pad woon sen and combo with papaya salad. Not pictured but the garlic riblets were to die for.

I love Zaap! I wish it was still in HEB area! Only place where I can get a papaya salad, sticky rice, and meat choice combo. That's my go to authentic Laos dishes and usually I have to buy all three separately. But here I can buy the combo! The Laos papaya salad is legit ! They actually use the correct sauces for it. I've tried some other dishes here and my fav so far is the drunken noodles. It was excellent ! The basil fried rice is good but we had some better at their other locations. Please rebuild in HEB area! We need more authentic Asian food there !

Got it delivered from this place for the first time. I wanted Thai hot being the hottest but it is not spicy at all. I think the portion size is good for the price and also the taste.

Every time I come visit my son and his family in Texas, I made sure we stop by for lunch @ZAAP. This is my first visit in this location and about 12 minutes away from the Dallas Lovefield airport. Zaap Kitchen serves authentic Lao and Thai cuisine in the Dallas area. Its friendly staff and casual environment feels like home. This location has a wall art that catches your eye as soon as you enter the restaurant. I love art and so I really appreciate any artist's creativity snd gifted talent. For appetizers we ordered the CRAB CREAM CHEESE ROLLS , Filling is a concoction of imitation crab meat, cream cheese, carrots, and white onions wrapped in rice paper and then deep fried with with a thin sweet & sour dipping sauce on the side. My favorite signature dish is the DANCING GARLIC RIBLETS , They are Fried savory , tender pork riblets topped with fried garlic. And mind you you' ll sure be dancing while nibbling on these yummy riblets. My grandkids and daughter in law's best loved choice is the PAD SEE Ew-Sweet Soy Sauce Noodles which has Thick wide rice noodles with egg, carrots, broccoli, & white pepper and your choice of meat. We ordered 1 with shrimps and another order with beef. They were both equally yummy and heavenly flavorful. My son pretty much eats everything and anything served. Actually he loves the riblets so I got 2 servings of those. I can't pass on the PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE , that's my must have staple food right there. Rice, Eggs, cashews, pineapple, raisins, peas, carrots, white onions, green onions, and tomato were all blended in a mouthwatering tasty smoky flavor. Pineapple chunks were so sweet and very well added to the authenticity of a Thailand cuisine. Gotta have those THAI ICED TEA!!! And my son his LAO ICED COFFEE to perk him up from a graveyard shift till 8am then came straight to drive 2 hours to pick us up from the airport by noon. Always a blessing to visit family and good restaurants as well. Total meal $75

Come for the wings, stay for the noodles! Some of my favorite drinks noodles I've tried in Dallas thus far, and they really don't hold back with the spiciness! I went with a 4 level but will probably tone it down next time, but appreciated the flavor and huge portion! The wings are some of the crispiest I've had, while still staying plenty juicy.

S U M M A R Y My absolute favorite Thai place in DFW. I will stand tall on that hill. I always get the same thing, and it never lets me down. T A S T E Basil Fried Rice : The All-Star. I'm obsessed with rice, it is my favorite carb. Probably because I am Nigerian. Moving on. I absolutely love basil fried rice I always customize it to have all three meats: chicken, beef and shrimp. I also add bean sprouts to it and extra onions. I usually get spice level 3/5 and you can definitely taste it in the rice. I also get their chili sauce on the side which I add to the rice to give it some extra heat. The rice is always a little bit al dente, a little sweet, a lot of umami with that soy sauce and just bursting with flavors from all of the vegetables that they put in there like mushrooms, baby corn and other stuff. Wings : perfection in a wing. I never eat dry wings I usually like a sauce but a lot of Asian wings are not necessarily wet but have a lot of flavor. And these wings do not disappoint. They are sweet and salty and perfectly crispy. They have a strong garlic flavor and I am salivating just thinking about them. Riblets : These are AMAZING as well. They are little pork bites. They have the exact same flavor as the wings. I don't know how - but it works and I often can't choose between the two. Drunken noodles : This is my second favorite dish to get at a Thai restaurant and this is what holds this place back from five stars. Unfortunately I've had better drunken noodles elsewhere. I don't like that they use chopped up beef in the noodles (whereas it is strips in the rice). Also, the spice does not carry in this dish. I always get a 3/5 and it tastes like there's not one bit of chili pepper in there. Thai tea : There is much better Thai tea out there. This one is subpar. Malai kitchen has better Thai tea. S E R V I C E Service is always great because the interactions are minimal. There's one counter where you order your food or pick up your food and then you can choose to either sit at a table or leave. No one serves you beyond that. A M B I E N C E The inside is small and super cute. The outside is a half occupied strip mall in uptown? (what do we call this area lol) P R I C E - 12.99$ fried rice or drunken noodles (3$ surcharge for shrimp) - 3.99$ Thai tea - 8.99$ Wings or riblets R A T I N G 1 star off because the spice in the drunken noodles needs to improve.

The sauce is rich and savory -- the kind that makes you slow down so you don't finish it too fast. The beef is tender and generously portioned, and the broccoli and carrots are cooked just right -- tender but it's never been soggy. It's the kind of dish where every bite is savory and satisfying. Safe to say, it's my current favorite... for now. The Pad Thai Woon Sen is a completely different experience in the best way. The clear noodles are light yet incredibly flavorful, and the tamarind sauce brings this beautifully layered tangy-sweet depth that builds with every bite. It's balanced, vibrant, and simply delicious -- the kind of dish that keeps you going back for "just one more time." The staff is friendly, approachable, and genuinely helpful when you're trying to decide between dishes. You never feel rushed, and their recommendations feel thoughtful rather than scripted. It was my very first time going to Komodo and the first time experience was not the greatest. Before I go into my review, I did enjoy the ambiance, decor and food. The food was actually really good and the portions were decent. I ordered the wagyu beef dumplings and garlic noodles for starters. I initially chose the Peking duck and was super excited to try it. This is where it started to downhill... As we were ordering starters and drinks, the drinks came out fairly quick and the starters did take about 15-20 minutes which I understand it was a Saturday night. After most of the appetizers came out, we decided to order our entrees because we noticed how long the appetizers took. About hour and some time goes by, the waiter comes back to tell me they just ran out of Peking duck. Which was disappointing so I quickly ordered the Korean fried chicken. The timing with how they ran out the entrees was a whole mess. There were two food runners that were confused with the food orders. 1 of 8 of my friends got their food way before all of us, we had waited an additional 15 minutes before 2 more entrees came out. Oh! My second appetizer (garlic noodles) still haven't come out yet and some of my friends had their entrees....My Korean fried chicken came out but it was fairly quickly so I'm not sure they just threw it in real quick for an apology of taking so long. Two of the breasts we're hard and tough to cut. So then we waited and waited for my very last friend to get her Lo mein...it was an extra 45 minutes until she was able to get her food!!!!! Unacceptable. I was so irritated about that and just ruined the mood. We were all done eating our food by then. We were already frustrated and ready to go at that point, but as soon as she got her food, the veggies were undercooked and it was an overall upsetting situation. I wish I had a better outcome and better celebration for my birthday. I would only recommend this place if you have nothing to do..because you will be waiting for your food for a long time. I suggest to eat before you go and by the time you digest, your food will be ready

We had been eating spectacular Japanese food for several days running, food that made us question every culinary decision we had made in our entire lives up to that point, and then something happened in the group dynamic that can only be explained as a collective temporary insanity and somebody said what about pizza and instead of saying no we are in Japan and there is yakitori available within forty feet of us at all times, everybody said yeah okay pizza sounds good actually. The station we were in had approximately forty seven exits. I counted. Not all of them. I counted forty seven before I gave up counting and simply accepted that exits were infinite and directional signage was a suggestion. We had been told the pizza place was near exit B14. There was no exit B14. There was a B4 and a B41 and something that might have been B14 but was labeled in a way that required a level of kanji literacy I had not developed in the forty eight hours since landing. We walked for twenty two minutes. We passed the same Family Mart three times which I know because the same employee was stocking the same shelf each time and by the third pass he looked at us with an expression of gentle recognition and what I can only describe as compassionate pity. We never found the pizza place. We found a ramen shop instead and ate the best bowl of ramen of our collective lives and agreed to never speak of the pizza incident again except that I am speaking of it right now because it is directly relevant to the fact that when I came back to Dallas and needed Japanese food that did not require navigating a forty seven exit train station, I went to Tei Tei Robata Bar on Henderson Avenue and everything was immediately right with the world. Tei Tei has been on Henderson Avenue since the late nineties. Founder Teiichi Sakurai, who is also the man behind Tei An which if you have not been to Tei An please go immediately after reading this review and before doing anything else in your life, has been a James Beard semifinalist six times which is the kind of number that should be printed somewhere more prominently than it currently is, like on a highway billboard or possibly the side of a building. You walk in through a Japanese garden to get to the entrance. A Japanese garden. In Dallas. On Henderson Avenue. Between a taco place and a bar with a patio. I walked through it after the forty seven exit train station and my blood pressure dropped twelve points immediately and I have no medical evidence for this but I am confident it is true. Robata is the traditional Northern Japanese grill style. Wood charcoal. Low heat. Slow intention. Things arrive on skewers that have been coaxed rather than forced into deliciousness. The miso sea bass is the kind of dish that people describe by going quiet for a moment first. The cornflake shrimp is a thing that should not work as a concept and works completely as a reality. The daily special comes out in three parts, raw, robata, and more, and each part is a small argument for why you should be paying better attention to what you eat every day of your life. The sashimi sits in a case on ice near the kitchen and you can watch the chefs working with a calm precision that is genuinely meditative to observe, like a train system that runs on the exact second it is supposed to run, quiet and intentional and doing exactly what it is supposed to do without any drama about it. I sat at the sushi bar and ate things I will not fully describe because some experiences should be discovered and not spoiled. I thought about the ramen we found instead of the pizza we were looking for and decided that getting lost is sometimes the whole point.

You can tell they brew it and it doesn't come from a syrup. When I sat down, I was instantly greeted, and there were like four different people serving my table, I think that they all work as a team to make sure everything is covered. The service was just amazing. Restaurant is beautiful, the booths were , small and intimate and you feeling that you in place with privacy and yet part of the group ....kind of interesting how they've done that. But the food! The food was outstanding, first they gave me a complementary appetizer of Jasmine sticky rice with this eggplant chutney, that was very tasty, a teeny bit spicy, but really good depth with flavor. Then my beef Samosas arrived. There were four, wrapped in like a triangle rapper, smaller than the Indian version of the same, and the flavor was very tasty, and corn and small chopped potatoes, yum! The two chutneys that came with it one was a cool cucumber, and the other was this sweet and spicy plum sauce. They made samosas!!! They could be soft and cool, or they could be delicious and spicy, depending on chutney you had them with and you had a third option.... There was a bed of pickled radish and carrot that really sit off the samosas as well and we're just delicious on their own. I devoured the entire thing. Then get the entrée. I had drunken noodles and I added the shredded pork... It was devastatingly tasty!!! the noodles were obviously done it a wok that's been seasoned to perfection. The wide noodles picked up all that deliciousness from the wok and then combined with the pork... heaven ! They had large pieces of bell pepper and tomatoes. very fresh onions... Just deliciousness. I was too full this time to get dessert, but I'm definitely coming back and I will definitely try it next time

The sampler gave us a chance to try four different items and came paired with four sauces. The meatball was probably the table majority favorite. There was also some meat wrapped in fried rice paper, that was my personal favorite. We were there in time for brunch and that was the highlight for me. Coconut chicken on top of a pandan waffle with coconut syrup. YUM!!!! French toast with flambé bananas and syrup, also YUM!!! There are quite a few options in that area, this is definitely a top choice
