Excellent food. We ordered the cheesy garlic bread, stuffed mushrooms, tortellini Alfredo and shrimp scampi. The cheesy garlic bread was very good and the stuffed mushrooms were unbelievable. The best Tortellini Alfredo I've ever had and the shrimp scampi was good. The flavors melded well with no one flavor overpowering any other. The service was average, but the quality of food got them a big tip. Oh by the way, the entire meal cost $41. I will definitely go out of my way to visit this restaurant again. read more

Great pizza, fettuccine mio molto and linguini with clam sauce are delicious. Avoid the lasagna, it is runny, not made traditionally, not served in a square cut from a larger casserole. The place is small, can feel overcrowded and uncomfortably warm. read more

Excellent food at a shockingly reasonable price! Definitely a hole in the wall. Kind of dark inside, oddly quiet without any music or background noise, nothing special about the interior, plastic lining the tables. BUT THE FOOD IS AMAZING. My hopes were not high here. The service was attentive and the food came in a timely manner. The portions are huge. Our group ordered 2 appetizers and 5 entrees and our total was only $63 before tip. But the food is absolutely the star of the show. I'm the first to admit that I'm a tough critic, but WOW. So, so flavorful across the board. I had the minestrone and it was magical. I was passing through one Sunday at lunchtime and there weren't many other places open, typical for small Texas towns. Ginno's had many positive reviews and looked good. I drove right by it the first time since it's about 1 block off the square. Overall, I wasn't super impressed. It's just average Italian food for me, but if you've spent your entire life in a small town, then I guess it could be exciting to come here. The wait was the biggest turn-off, but part of that was due to COVID and capacity restrictions. Similar to some other Italian restaurants, they serve these massive buttery garlicky rolls to start your meal. I asked for the garlic and oil in addition to the butter. The garlic and oil came out in a deep bowl, which made it difficult to dip and have any herbs on your roll. You mainly get your bread drenched in oil only. Typically, garlic and oil is served on a flat plate. For an entree, I chose the veal parmesean. It was very thin and for a majority of the time I was eating it, I was thinking in my head it was chicken since it's mostly breading. I then snapped to it, and realized I actually ordered veal. I guess the flavors in the dish weren't that pronounced. The side of spaghetti also wasn't very interesting for me. I prefer my homemade version, of course. As far as prices, Ginno's was very affordable and to be expected for a small town. Service could have been better. They only had 1 lady running the front of house, taking phone orders, cashier, waitress, busboy, etc.......so if they had a 2nd person that would have been better during a lunchtime rush. read more

I was disappointed last time but decided to give it another try. Carciofi means artichoke in Italian. Yet again, there was but one lonely choke (or maybe half) in the entire dish! So sad, oily/greasy and not real butter used, and the chicken was bland, no seasoning or herbs. This place has gone downhill. Second visit. Honestly, some of THE BEST Italian food in the state and we live in DFW! We are critical, to be honest Italian on all sides. I grew up wit an Italian Nana who made everything from scratch. This place is excellent. Tortellini to die for. The broth is so flavorful. The soup has vegetables and a cup is a meal. A bowl is for 2-3! Rolls are good, dressings are too. My husband had shrimp Diablo with red lemon sauce. Tasty and sumptuous. Service is so pleasant and friendly. This place is fantastic! I drive through Cameron quite often, and truth be told, while it's a fine town, I just wouldn't expect such high quality Italian food. I grew up in Long Island, NY, and this restaurant serves food that would fit in just fine there. It's remarkable. Had a long work day before hitting the road. Decided to try Ginnos for real food instead fast. A yelp review said to wear your patient pants but it was good food. We were there 30 minutes before they closed. We sat down and ordered quickly. The waitress brought out our drinks & bread. After 45 minutes, a different waitress came to us and said, "Do you want me to go ahead and put that in a to go box. We close at 9:00." Well what do you really say to that? We felt like we were being kicked out. Five minutes later she brought our order. Since we were traveling, we just hit the road without eating, because how do you really eat Italian food in a car in the dark. We pulled over in Rosebud and parked under a light. First thing I noticed was they didn't give us our salads. Ok, well maybe the food will be good. Sadly, the pasta was overcooked. My husband had fettuccine. He rated it a one. I had a chicken dish with vegetables and a lemon red sauce. The was nothing red or lemon about it. It was all underwhelming. My suggestion to the owner is to write to Robert Irvine with Restaurant impossible and see if he could help you out. read more

I have here twice, once with family, all of us ordered pasta, service was great! and the the food was fantastic! I had chicken picatta it was great! everyone else liked theirs as well. The second time I ordered pizza to go ordering was easy, I went and picked up, two pizzas one supreme and one Hawaiian, medium size, for medium they were large, hot and delicious! The Hawaiian had real Canadian bacon on it not ham or whatever, big chunks of pineapple as well. Best pizza I have had in a long time, that being said when I picked them up the gal behind the counter asked if I needed help ( I walk with a cane) she brought them out and put them in the car for me! You can ask for much more than that, they have a customer for life. read more

She took our drink order and then never returned with drinks, but flirted with the table behind us five times (walked right past us each time without a word). Excellent food. (I left so stuffed!) Excellent prices. (I was blown away by that!) Great service. (Friendly and attentive!) Now that's a killer combination. The dining area is small so I'm sure you can expect a wait in busy nights, but it makes for a cozy, warm atmosphere. I noticed they do a lot of take out orders, too, so I can see this being a great option for someone who just does not feel like cooking but also wanted to just stay home. All it all... We love that there's a nice little Italian restaurant near our teensy town. The cream based pastas are excellent, and the rolls are to die for. The salads are fresh and a decent size. Mushroom appetizers: superb! Unfortunately, we have never had a good waiter or waitress yet, in it six years of coming. We aren't greeted, and they sure don't seem to be happy that they're there nor that the customers are there. Things are slapped down on the table and they walk away. We always feel sort of in the way. They don't look you in the eye, smile, or check on you. You have to ask for anything- and it seems to be an annoyance. Our plates pile up between the courses, or they're on their phone instead of checking on the tables. It's not that they're busy or understaffed... it's that they haven't been trained well, I guess? We won't be back, and man I'm going to miss those rolls. read more

We are on our way to Round Top. We stopped in Cameron for dinner and found this very tasty place. The house red sauce salad dressing is so good! I ordered Shrimp Diablo. It didn't disappoint. Ok - you have to take into account that it's in Cameron TX, the county seat of Milam County with a population of about 5,500 people. Folks around here grow corn and cotton and raise cattle. They're not big gastro-philes. They don't eat out much. There are about 15 places to get lunch and 10 of them are crappy Taquerias. Another 4 are fast food or sandwich shops. That brings me to Ginno's. Who would have thought you could get authentic, top quality Italian food so far out in the sticks? Their sauces are scrumptious, their pasta is perfect and the servers are sweet as pie. What more could you want? Atmosphere? Ambiance? Sorry - you're out in cattle country. But they do the best they can and the food is worth the sacrifice. I'm a fan! read more

Being Bronx, New York born, I tend to be very particular about my Italian food. My expectations for this recently-opened restaurant in a very small Texas town were modest, to say the least. To my delight and surprise, they are serving up a highly respectable version of New York-style pizza. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is layered and first-rate, and the toppings are delicious and generously applied. My dining companions had Ginno's lasagna. It looked so good and smelled so temptingly aromatic that I was almost ready to trade in my first-class pizza for their bubbling baked specialty. At this point, the wait staff is courteous, but they don't know much about the food they're serving. Time should heal that situation. The atmosphere is minimal. Regrettably, most of the tables were empty last Sunday night, October 30, 2011. Hopefully, reservations will soon be required for seating. If the citizens of Cameron, as well as visitors to the town, don't support this new Italian eatery, then the loss will be theirs. read more

Food is good if you get it. Today marks the third time that our order was lost or forgotten. After sitting there for 45 minutes with the waitress passing by us and seeing others getting their food we asked. Seems they hadn't even started on ours. Recently I was there during the week mid afternoon and one of the waitresses had her small children there. One walked over and set his chin on my table and started watching me eat. Stopped by here in a Saturday night on the way home to Crawford. A friend recommended it. Very small place, not that crowded. I had the chicken parm with spaghetti. It was out of this world DELICIOUS! it took a while to come out, but talk about freshly fried! Nice crisp to the breading. And the red sauce was some of the best I've had. I made a comment to my friend that I could drink it! We ended up ordering garlic bread AFTER or meal, so we could use he rest if the sauce (I asked for extra with my dinner). My friend got the veal parm and she was just as thrilled with her meal. The free bread they offer at the beginning of the meal is wonderful as well. And this place is CHEAP too. $20 for the 2 of us.
