We were in town to visit friends and saw that this was a highly rated pizza-and-beer shop. We stopped in, and the staff was super kind. It's a cool-looking place, and we had World Cup soccer on TV. The place is clean and well maintained. We ordered the calzone and the 9-inch buffalo chicken pizza. Also, we ordered their hazy IPA. The pizza was well above average, and we had a great time. ***disclaimer*** Yes, I ate in Elgin and it wasn't BBQ. A 1st in over 30yrs. A risky move, but with absolutely NO regrets! This beautiful little hidden gym is tucked away behind a shell gas station. BLUF: Great pizza, great atmosphere, good beer selection. Dog and VET friendly. The plethora of selections was daunting. I bellied up to the counter and was so NOT prepared given that people were behind me and salivating waiting to take me out with a pizza pan had I not ordered any faster. I hastily ordered 1/2 and 1/2 ... I asked for their "meat lovers" and shared the pan with a proteinless (I'll get kicked out of Elgin if said to loud) Goat Cheese, garlic, and Sirachi Roasted Brussel sprouts on marinara. I also ordered their Buffalo Wings. My unruly Dog was acting a fool unexpectedly and uncharacteristically... I think he senses the urgency, but they had a jar of pet treats right at the counter! I promptly ordered a Hazy IPA and made my way to my table drooling at each pizza I passed on the way. Pizza was out fast! The meat lovers consisted of pepperoni, Sausage, Canadian Bacon, and bacon. ...I should have made a video because the bacon CRUNCHED when I bit into the slice! It was delicious. Dough report ..so/so. It didn't have the bite of a hand tossed pizza. It was more like a thin version of Via 313, but not that good. It was basically bread and not glutenized hand worked pizza dough. None-the-less, it was good. If only there was some protein that matched up with the goat cheese and Brussel sprouts! That would have put it over the top. That veggie half of the pizza was so good! Generous toppings and so much flavor. Service was super friendly, and attentive, willing to let you sample any beer on tap you want. The wings were deceiving. They looked like they would be soggy, but they were crisp. If you like your wings drowning in sauce, you better ask for it. They looked naked but there was enough sauce to qualify them as buffalo. I loved that they were not over cooked and were big juicy mouth watering pieces of wings that you might have thought came from a turkey based on their size. I frequented the south austin location for a while and it was great... I was excited to eat at the Elgin location today, but... first- the prices.... Wow... $30 pizzas... it's crazy... how do they stay in business? Can people really afford $30 pizzas? I waited a while to order from there to try and make it make sense financially. We are not broke by any means, but don't like to throw money away either... it's not Uchi we are talking about. Second- the staff was friendly, but I learned today that if you order gluten free without calling first, they will slice your pizza with the same slicer they slice the gluten containing pizzas with... that's not a real gluten free pizza then. I get some places won't take the full precautions but it's just common sense and the least you can do- don't cut gf pizza with a gluten containing knife! Third, the pizza quality sucked! Night and day from the austin location... my gluten free pizza and my partners regular pizza tasted stale and we got there right when they came out. Tasted like a few days old/stale/cardboard flavor... not sure how you can accomplish that, but this aviator pizza has found a way to make fresh pizza taste days old. Both pizzas were missing quite a bit of cheese (one of my slices had none)... the meat pieces on mine looked like they had been reheated like ten times today... The quality of the pizza at this location was lower than if I ordered from little Cesar's for a third of the cost... please do something about the horrendous quality of pizza at this location. Pizza is good and they do a great job overall. The only problem is the draft beer. it is out of control $$$$. I recommend water. lol. seriously. Ambience is simple but good for a pizza place. outside, you are starring at a gas station. Still i do enjoy the pizza and the staff is kind i have no hope for beer prices but am hopeful for my home-porch-beer. So take out might be good if you can get home with a warm pizza. Had a great time at Aviator Pizza! After a long day of moving we decided to stop in here to get some early dinner. Overall we had a very nice time and the food was delicious. We ordered the lazy goat pizza and the rosemary, tomato and mozzarella focaccia bread sticks. Both were piping hot and delicious. We loved the breadsticks in particular. We also got two draught beers that were both great. The service was excellent the cashier, didn't catch his name unfortunately, came over to make sure we were enjoying our meal and did a great job keeping the restaurant clean. He was also super nice. The inside of this place is very cute! They have nice bathrooms and I like the log cabin vibe they're going for. We had an excellent time and will for sure be back! read more

Aviators truly saved my son's birthday! I had originally ordered from Caesar's for his school party and, despite ordering the day before, the pizzas weren't ready when I arrived--they told me it would be another hour. In a panic, I called Aviators, and they had my pizzas ready in just 10 minutes. Aviators is usually our go-to for pizza; I only chose Caesar's this time because feeding 20 kids isn't cheap. But after this experience, I'll gladly pay whatever Aviators charges for their incredible service and quality. My son's face absolutely lit up when he saw the Aviators box instead of the other place. Best tasting Pizza in Bastrop county. They have lots of interesting types of pizza and topping choices beyond the usual ones. They seem to use a lot more spices in their pizza that make them extra tasty. I also highly recommend the grinder sandwiches. Very messy, but delicious, especially if you eat them while they are still hot. Also, make sure to get the honey covered brussels sprout side that comes with them. The dining area is small-ish and has a fun/quirky aviation theme. Very quiet, comfortable and family friendly. Atmosphere is really sedate and quiet, not the usual cacophony of a sports bar with blasting TVs, or kids running wild. I haven't tried their beer selection, but they definitely have a lot of choices on tap if you are a fan of micro-brews. read more

While on a trip to Elgin, decided to give Aviator Pizza a try. Best thing about the whole experience was that it wasn't busy despite being Saturday around dinner time. We ordered an 18' inch cheese pizza, Caesar salad and baked hot and spicy wings. The pizza was better than expected and I loved the crust. The texture on the wings was weird and unappealing, but they tasted great. The salad was not tossed and I am not a fan of tomatoes on a Caesar salad, but the dressing was decent. We were starving, so I didn't remember to take pictures of the wings and pizza until we had already started eating. But better late than never. My kids liked it a lot, so we'll be checking out the Mueller location soon. read more

We don't really go to often, so I feel I need to chime in when we do....Place was actually pretty busy and usually the wait can be a bit, but this round they had them pies flyin out the oven. We always stick with the same pies...Wife rolls 4 cheese with pepperoni, and Im a Major Tom or Ground Control....they did offer a new Focaccia bread sticks that comes with goat cheese, or we just missed the option everytime we went...and its a must have for us moving forward. Ok, so first thing, best cinna sticks of all the PIzza places we've ever been to. Decided to stop in a Aviator Pizza on the way home. We stopped at our duaghters house and brought her and the grandson along. There was plenty of seating and more outside. The menu has plenty of pizza options as well as calzones, sanwhiches and salads. I ordered a ceaser salad and the Bacon Double Cheeseburger pizza. The salad was big, enought for two. The dressing was tasty and there was a good amount of croutons. The pizza could have used a little more cheese. The crust was kind of tasteless. I usually eat all the crusts but I left all of them behind here. Wifey got the Greek pizza and she said it was great. The rest of the family ordered an assortment of pizzas and a couple pastas. The pasta came with a whole 6in roll split in half as garlic bread. My son had alfredo w/ chicken and daughter had spaghetti. Both enjoyed it. Overall, I am looking forward to going again in the future. I was a little underwhelmed by my pizza and the crust. The cinna sticks carried the day though. read more

The Italian sub was one of the best I've had, the pizza was loaded and outstanding, and the dessert pizza blew my mind--perfect sweetness. Aviator is directly across from the auto sales next to a gas station I ordered the lasagna and side of Caesar salad and let me tell you the BEST caesar dressing ever not to tart just the right amount of spice and anchovies Lasagna huge portion comes with the best garlic bread the red sauce and cheese was silky smooth and hot perfect amount of ricotta and seasoning I had to save half so I can bring it home to my mom so she can taste it. It took a few minutes for someone to meet us at the counter. But that gave us time to peruse the menu without pressure. We ordered a house salad with a side of ranch and blue cheese. The blue cheese in the dressing was MIA but the ranch was great! Pizzas were my husband's go-to: hamburger, sausage and extra cheese. And my daughter and I got the double bacon cheeseburger. Both pizzas were good! We loved the crust- had a small yeasty bite to it, which I love. And the sauce was good- not overbearing in quantity and not tomato-y sweet. Overall it was a good place! Family members living in Elgin swore up and down to us that this was the BEST pizza. And I mean, it was decent pizza, but their claim was a bit overstated, LOL. Flavor was fine, crust was fine, but nothing so good I'll be intentionally coming back, y'know? My husband and I arrived before the rest of the family (which was quite a crowd-- thirteen of us total) so we could get our order in first since we were starving, haha. Price for quantity was reasonable; more than we might normally pay for pizza, but it's where everyone wanted to eat, so we rolled with it. We'd brought water and opted out of getting soft drinks, though looking at their soda fountain, they had some appealing options ("fancier" than your run-of-the-mill Coca-Cola or Pepsi products). Sadly their machine was all out of ice though, which was definitely not a ten outta ten situation. Looked like they had a lot of booze options on tap, though that's not our vibe. Anyhow, the staff members treated us well. I warned 'em ahead of time we were all going to congregate outdoors (we had a couple of dogs with us, plus it was a nice evening outside temperature-wise). They've got five picnic tables outside (some not in the best repair), so a decent amount of space for butts to sit. Our pizza was ready decently quickly. Though the other eleven family members, who had placed their order altogether, had their pizzas brought out in gradual stages because it was a large order. Unfortunately the vegan pizza for our 80 year old family member got accidentally given away to a take-out order and had to be remade... good thing her old age has granted her superhuman patience! The employees were quite apologetic about the mix-up. There's bathrooms inside, one men's, one women's, though both are single-occupant so idk why they bother with outdated sex segregation. A smoked oyster pizza from some distant pizzeria out west, the Portuguese linguica and jalapeño at Abby's in Walla Walla and the Lazy Goat thin crust at Aviators. The place was pretty large, modern, and clean for when we re-open for dine in. But there were a few picnic tables out front and no one around so we decided to hang out and eat outside. Thick good quality paper plates provided! The pizza was decently priced and we got the large 18" - half Hawaiian and half Margherita. Can't say I like the flavors - the toppings were alright but the pizza crust was just bland.. zero flavors and maybe taken out of the oven too early cause it was soft and not so crispy along the edges. They do load the pizza with lots of toppings though. Can't say it's the best pizza I've had - not even close - but it filled us up and it was quick. The interior of the restaurant is casual in an industrial way and is clean and inviting. As far as the pizza goes: the sauce was nicely spiced with a little kick of pepper but the crust had a very papery texture that we found disappointing. Overall it was okay but not particularly impressive where I'd go out of my way to eat there. There are much better pizza joints in Austin and while it wasn't bad, Aviator is not a standout that it could be. read more

Took my 11 year old grand son, hoping for a special night out. It was special like the short bus. Pizza was flavorless. We brought most of it home and no one wanted to eat it. Took over an hour to get our food. My bad I ordered the Caprese salad even though I dispise balsamic vinagar, Asked for plain Italian got charged an extra 1.25. Grand son loves spaghetti. They were out. Tables were packed, not of customers enjoying their meals but of folks still waiting on their orders. It was the only sit down Italian in Elgin and just up the road. I now happily drive the extra distance to get to NAPOLIS ITALIAN BISTRO, down town. Service was not only rude but I was positive Christmas would come before we got food. Spent about 60 bucks for the two of us and the best I can say is we paid dearly for the knowldge to never return. Just driving by anymore is enough to elicid a look a look of disgust from the grand kid and his pet name for Aviators is the restruant that must be avoided at all costs. First time ordering here and the pizza is amazing here!!! I ordered the 9" Meat Almighty pizza and BBQ Pizza. The pizza named Meat Almighty say exactly that! It's loaded with all the meat toppings! The sage sausage have a kick and it's such a quality pizza for what your pay for! The crust is crispy on the edges but fluffy and chewy in the inside. I usually get thin pizza but decided to get regular crust and I am so glad I did! The texture is indescribable good! The bbq chicken pizza is equally amazing! It's unique and the bbq sauce is perfect balance with the feta cheese, chicken, and toppings! This place is a must try! I am so happy this pizza place exists in Elgin!
