Went for my wife's birthday (her choice) as she's been before and liked it. I know question her judgement. Restaurant was nice enough, nothing fancy. The place was pretty much empty. We got apps of cheese sticks and bruschetta. Sticks were ok, clearly frozen. The bruschetta has weird taste to me, not sure what it was. I got the chicken parm, my go to at any Italian joint. Was not good. The breading was mush and the chicken has no seasoning at all. It tasted more like boiled chicken that was in bread crumbs, then had canned/jarred sauce dump on it and tossed under broiler. The spaghetti reminded of high school lunch. Honestly, not worth the $71 plus tip. Food didn't affect tip, not waitress fault the food is trash. I'd rather go to OG any day than go back here. read more

We had a reservation for 7 people at 7pm. There is not much space to wait inside so we waited outside. That's no big deal but it kinda felt like they forgot about us until we went inside. We were waiting about 20 minutes without any updates which is the reason for one star missing. The food was really good and everyone was happy with their food. We came craving good Italian food and left very disappointed. When you walk in you're greeted with the strong smell of cleaning solution. We should have walked out but figured since that where the kitchen was that's probably why even though a kitchen shouldn't smell like that but we just made the excuse. The service was extremely slow but we gave them the benefit of the doubt here since they were a little busy. However the food took so long. We ordered fried calamari, a chicken parmigiana plate, and a Gino's combination plate which came with chicken parmigiana, meat lasagna, and Alfredo pasta. The chicken parmigiana plate was flavorless and the chicken parmigiana breading was mushy and the spaghetti was edible it NOT tasteful. The Gino's combination plate- the Alfredo was very soupy, the lasagna noodles were over cooked and the chicken parmigiana breading again was very mushy. By the time the waitress came by, the food had cooled down so much. I let her know I was not happy with the meal and she just mentioned that she's worked at Gino's for 9 years and NEVER had anyone send a plate back and asked if we ever ate at Gino's before. I let her know that was good for her but as for the plate I was served it was horrible and this was our first and probably our very last time eating at Gino's. She seemed very annoyed and walked away and when she came back she brought the check let us know she comped the meal. Went for lunch today. This is one of my wife's favorite Italian spots. To start the bread and seasoned olive oil is fabulous. Bread was warm and fresh. This is a very family friendly restaurant and makes you feel like someone grandma is in the back cooking. Great atmosphere. My wife ordered the gnocchi and really liked it. I got the lasagna and is was ok but should have got the pizza. My was lacking meat and flavor. We brought our grandson who got the cheese ravioli and liked it but got full on the great bread. 4.5 stars for sure! I am so happy we found this place. Gino's is outstanding Italian food and we had a lot of it tonight. We began with Calamari and muscles portofino (white sauce with mushrooms). Really delicious. I then had the chicken Parmesan which was delectable and my brother had the meat lasagna which was out of this world. As if all that wasn't enough, we had dessert too, the limoncello cake and he had the chocolate cake, both didn't disappoint. The service was friendly and attentive. I've been to Gino's Italian twice now and will be back. My first visit was to celebrate my birthday. Son and DIL asked where I would like to go and I said Italian but please no chain restaurant. They made an excellent choice. The food, wine, dessert, service and atmosphere were all on point. My second visit was a few weeks ago when I took my granddaughters out for girls' day. First it was a spa treatment then time for lunch. Asked where they'd like to go and of course they say Mickey D's which I vehemently say NO. Then one said, OK, I want spaghetti. My memory brought me back to Gino's. It was a perfect choice. The girls had a good selection to choose from and the food was 10+ according to the girls. I enjoyed the meal and atmosphere but all three of us agree that service was subpar. That didn't disappoint us enough to not wanting to return. This is a place where you go if you're craving authentic Italian flavors from the south. What a variety of flavor explosions in the different dishes. I came here with friends celebrating yet another outting during my bday "month" We got Calamari to share, I ordered the salmon salad, and we all had the Italian cream cake for dessert with coffee of course. First of all, the marinara source for the Calamari was fabulous, so fresh and hearty, just tasty! alongside the awesomely breaded Calamari, it was just such a good combo. I mean, I can eat that everyday if you'd ask me! My salad was delicious I had the Italian vinaigrette and it was right on point. The salmon was cooked delightfully. I'm a dessert person, so the icing on the cake was the Italian cream cake so well paired with a nice cup of coffee. The place does get packed! Which it really tells you people do come back for more. The staff is friendly and ready to provide a good service which makes it easier to have a good time with friends. Been in Round Rock for over 10 years and this was our first visit to Gino's. We've heard so many good things now I can finally chime in with others on how good it is. I love that it's family run and even though the wait staff aren't all related it seemed like they were because they all took such good care of each other. It truly felt like dining with family the way we were treated. Everyone's food was super yummy, our drinks were never empty and the desert was the perfect t ending to our dinner. We will for sure be back! They do fill up quick so try to get a reservation but they do have benches and stuff if you want to walk in and wait. My son wasn't a fan of the inside he said it felt old but I personally liked the inside, it felt welcoming and homie. We were in the mood for good Italian and again, fully relied on Yelp! to assist us with our choice and it was not wrong. The smells from the parking lot will draw you in. It's very spacious which is nice. The noise level was medium I would say. The food - out of this world. I can see why they have been around since 1976! The fresh bread comes out with a wonderful very flavorful dipping sauce. Very light but tasty. I personally had the Ginos special that was angel hair, mushroom marinara with meatballs and sausage. Seriously enough for two people. My son had the shrimp Alfredo and wiped the bowl clean with the rest of the bread. Service was great. Went to Gino's on a Thursday night with a decently large group. We got here and were told the wait time for our group would be 20 minutes, but we ended up having to wait for close to an hour and our table was split into two. After we were seated, we were promptly served bread and some kind of garlic/oil/oregano/thyme mixture that was pretty good! I ordered a Combination Platter, which has lasagna, chicken, and linguine. The food came out pretty fast and the food was really good. The tomato sauce was great and mixed well with the cheese from the linguine. The lasagna was good too, although fairly standard. The food itself was pretty decent and I can't complain, but it could've been because we were hungry from waiting (maybe that was on purpose ). We came in ready for a cozy Italian dinner, and at first things looked promising -- cold bottled beer in a frozen mug. Perfect start! Sadly, the highlight of the meal ended right there. The bread arrived cold, with an oil-and-herb dip so mild I had to add crushed red pepper and salt/pepper to it to give it some flavor. The fried mushroom appetizer tasted exactly like the ones in the frozen food aisle -- which is ok if you're at home frying them up, but not what I'm hoping for at a restaurant. We split the Combo Platter. The chicken parmigiana was dry, the lasagna lacked personality and flavor entirely, and the fettuccini alfredo was watery and bland, not the creamy dish we were hoping for. I even told my wife I would have rather gone to Olive Garden. We even tried to redeem the meal with dessert -- a cannoli and a slice of raspberry cheesecake to go -- but when we got home, they were as uninspiring and bland as the rest of the meal. At that point, we just had to laugh and agree the frozen mug of beer was the peak of the evening. The place itself is quaint and had a nice "Mom-and-Pop" vibe, and it was pretty busy at 5pm on a Friday, so clearly plenty of people love it. Maybe we just caught them on an off night, or maybe we just prefer a bolder style of Italian cooking. But after spending over $60 on a meal that left us wishing we'd gone somewhere else, we probably won't be back. I don't mean for this to come across as mean-spirited -- just sharing our honest experience so others know what to expect. We ate here the other night with and on the recommendation of good friends. We were told it was family-owned and their pizza was good. I tried calling ahead for reservations but they weren't answering their phone as early/late as 4:45 p.m. Thankfully we didn't need reservations on Friday night. We were seated promptly but it was only about 5:00 p.m. The cozy but plain dining room (more reminiscent of Applebees than Italian cuisine) was already bustling. Our waitress was pleasant enough but with a bit of an edginess to her responses--not exactly welcoming--and a bit snarky as in "just don't ask for anything more than basics" attitude. She provided adequate service during our meal but she didn't add to the dining experience. We came here specifically for the pizza while our friends had lasagna and spaghetti. My fiancee and I got the Gino's specialty pizza XL to share and have some leftover to go. I'll have to say that the pizza size did not disappoint but that's where the good part of the story ends. The pizza was a thin crust which was fine but it was super greasy. I mean refill your canola oil bottle greasy. My girlfriend kept wanting for napkins to sop the grease up from the top. One thing I found very annoying was that we asked the waitress to give us a to-go box so we could put half of the pizza in to begin with. That was both a portion control and a freshness issue. She refused because there was not enough room on the table. The fact that your tables are too small is not my problem. So long as it's a reasonable request, you do with customer asks because they probably have a good reason. We might go back for some of the other dishes but we will probably try Warpath or Torres Bee next time. In short don't go here for the pie. And we will probably ask for another waitress if we by chance get the same one. read more

Terrible place for children. Asked for warm water for our 3 year old. The waitress brought boiling hot water out in a cup with a straw. My wife tried out the water and it utterly burned her mouth and tongue. Had my my wife not tried it out- my daughter would've been severely injured. Talked the Teresa M, manager who looked at us like "why are we bothering me?" She made a bunch of excuses like "we give customers tea and they ask for hot water." Apology was disingenuous and they didn't warn us it was BOILING hot water. And it was given with a straw. This is not excusable by any standards We also waited 30 plus minutes to get a high chair. Poor poor service for families. Food was also terrible. Plenty of places in Round Rock that are way better. Zero stars if I could rate this place. Avoid at all cost!!! read more
