We were in town for a memorial service so the superb customer service was appreciated and Reid was a fantastic server. The calamari was cooked and seasoned well. We had the lobster spaghetti. I tried Casa Mangiare and I'd give it an 8/10 overall. I went during happy hour and it was definitely the move. I had two cocktails, both of which were amazing, along with their signature bread and some oysters, all for less than $60. The food was delicious, and you really can't beat those prices, so I'd definitely recommend going during happy hour. What really stood out to me though was the service. We sat at the bar, and our bartender, Sincerity, was easily some of the best service I've experienced in town. She took her time explaining each cocktail and food item in detail, and was extremely personable and hospitable. That level of attention really elevated the whole experience. The food was not even as good as Fazolis and you might as well have a down payment for a house ready to spend on three meatballs. The service WAS good. An out of towner in for business but this was a nice little spot. Nice environment, solid service, the food was solid. We did a family style meal trying several items on the menu. The Panzella Tuscan Salad was nice and light with fresh flavors, as well as the caprese, the burrata was delicious. We had several pasta dishes seen below, and the proteins were very good we had the short rib which highly recommend and we also had the 32 oz specialty ribeye- it wasn't the best I've had wouldnt suggest. First and foremost I would like to thank and shout out our server, Sincerity. She was not only extremely nice but also gave amazing suggestions - we took her up on one of her suggestions for all of the courses we go all of which were phenomenal. Secondly, the food was amazing - a bit pricey but not outrageous for Italian food of that quality. I got the chicken parm, loaded brussel sprouts, wagu meatballs, and chocolate cake. If you come here I cannot recommend the brussel sprouts enough. The environment is amazing. It's very intimate and well maintained. Now onto the bathrooms. I have abnormally big opinions on bathrooms. So you can believe me when I say the bathrooms here knock it out of the park. They have the stalls that are like little rooms. Hooks to put your items. Casa Mangiare does Italian very well and I can't begin to tell you how good it really is and tastes. And the service is beyond great. This was my 3rd visit in the past 2 years and the quality of the food has deteriorated each time. Service and ambiance is good. But my food (chicken parm) can only be described as gross. I don't believe I have ever sent food back in my life but I would have if I wasn't with work colleagues (and I didn't want to cause issues). The "sauce" was an orange-red baked in coating. Chicken was dry and tough. Polenta was served cold (guess that's what the chef believes is appropriate?) One colleague at my table had the duck and said it was bad. The appetizers were fine (calamari, bruschetta). This place is also insanely expensive for what you get--my food wasn't worth $4 and certainly not over $30. Those at my table that had a pasta dish seemed to enjoy, but over $30-50 for a small plate of spaghetti and sauce is ridiculous. Very disappointing. read more

Went here for Valentine's Day and tried some of their limited menu selections. While it was a limited menu the amount of food and portions size was absolutely shocking. Everything me and my date had was absolutely delicious and the dessert was even better! I had the crab cakes, pesto pasta, and chocolate cake. My date had the meatballs, steak, and cheesecake. I can't remember the specific names for each of the selections but remember it was so good. Staff was fabulous and friendly with a pianist creating a low-lit and formal atmosphere. Came to this restaurant. The atmosphere was very nice. We had the braised short rib, Caesars salad, 8oz prime filet and the Spaghetti. First off, they did not have any steak sauce to to go with the steak, what they served was a rosmary dipping sauce and a sauce that would go over asparagus. My family and I came here for a weekend dinner and overall, the experience far exceeded our expectations. For the appetizer we got the Caprese Salad which was served with cherry tomatoes instead of heirloom tomatoes. In addition, the salad came with what appeared to be a tomato compote, a parmesan crisp, mozzarella, pesto, and fresh basil. Overall, it was very refreshing, with the slight and mild sweetness from the tomatoes and mozzarella balancing the saltiness from the parmesan and herby notes from the pesto and basil. We also had their rosemary focaccia which came with extra virgin olive oil, the bread had a nice crisp exterior with a soft fluffy interior and was warm, indicating that all the food was being cooked to order. For the entrée, I opted for the Scottish Salmon cooked medium which came with asparagus, a truffle potato cream, and a lemon butter sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was very decadent. In addition, the salmon had a crispy skin which added a nice contrasting texture to the dish. Both the asparagus and the potato cream were also great, with the asparagus having a soft interior and crisp exterior with light garlic and lemon notes. Furthermore, the potato cream was smooth with nice nutty aromatic flavor notes. The lemon sauce also had a nice mild tartness both making it balanced and not overbearing. For dessert, my family and I shared a Lemon Tart, which appears to be a new item on their dessert menu. The cream and mint in the dish helped balanced the acidity from the lemon cream, strawberries, and raspberries, and the crust was also crisp with light vanilla notes, there was also a berry compote which added a light sweetness to the dish as well. In regards to service and ambiance, our personal server was on top of it and consistently checked in with us to ensure that our food was to our liking. She was also very knowledgeable about wine pairings for the appetizers and entrées. Moreover, other servers were checking in with us and making sure our needs were being met. The atmosphere was very soothing and there were two live performers playing Jazz and Blues in the restaurant and in regards to cleanliness the place was immaculate. All in all, if you are looking for a nice upscale Italian restaurant for a special occasion or a date, this place definitely hits the mark, and the pricing of the restaurant definitely matches its quality. The epitome of great service and fine dining. The wait staff is extremely well-trained in fine dining and are there to give you the best experience. The live music is nice but can get loud, so I recommend sitting in the back room so you can still hear it and carry on a conversation. They have specialty cocktails and a full bar and make a delicious cosmopoliton. The homemade bread is to die for light and fluffy. The Caesar salad is good as well as the arancini. We decided to eat here just because it was so close to the hotel where we were staying. It was so good we ate here twice on the same trip! The restaurant ambience was top notch luxury and romantic! Our servers, Cameron and William, were both very courteous and helpful. Between our two visits we tried several selections. The Shrimp Cocktail featured several huge, but delicious shrimp for a shared app. The Arancini di Riso featured exquisite Wagyu beef and was tender and flavorful. The Braised Beef Short Rib was also tender and flavorful with some of the best Cacio e Pepe Polenta we've ever had. The Baked Crab Cake was delicate, flaky, and delicious! Finally, the Risotto al Gambero Rosso featured a magnificent shrimp bisque and burrata. It's a good thing we controlled ourselves when the focaccia bread with olive oil came out because that was delicious as well! Finally, on the last visit we were treated to a free Torta alla Nocciolla (Hazlenut cake) that also knocked our socks off! On entry, I was immediately greeted by host staff, who seated me promptly(even without a reservation). My server was warm and attentive, made menu suggestions. I had the grilled octopus appetizer...scrumdiliumptious! It was cooked to perfection. I also had the baked crab cake. I wasn't as knocked over by the crab cake. We live an hour and 45 minutes away and this restaurant is worth the drive! Our appetizers of carpaccio, tuna tartare, and octopus were perfectly prepared and presented. Let's cut to the chase - this is without question the finest restaurant in the entire Bryan/College Station area. Why? Because of the combo platter of food, service, atmosphere, value, and experience. When you combine all those nothing comes close in the area. Casa Mangiare suffers from its name. The locals see the word "casa" and immediately think Mexican - not realizing there's another language out there using the word. Casa Mangiare (Italian for "Let's eat!") is an Italian restaurant with an American twist. Twist in the sense of a cocktail twist, not plot twist. They haven't forgot they're in Texas and there are Texas-friendly menu items and drinks/beer. Speaking of cocktails, their menu is filled with some old school classics like Singapore Slings and Whiskey Sours. Cool note is they give you the date and name of the cocktail's creator. In my multiple visits here I have tried several of their cocktails on and off menu. Their spin on a Sazerac is brilliant, and the bartenders know their way around most anything you can throw at them. Onto the food... from the beef carpaccio to the wood grilled oysters to the tuna tartare and crispy calamari, any choice from the appetizer- er, antipasti - menu is a great choice. All the food was prepared perfectly and served perfectly on each of my visits. For the main courses they have house made pastas as well as pizza, seafood and beef, chicken and lamb. Anyone you bring here will find something they love. Personally, I love pasta and recommend the Spaghetti Lobster - a Maine lobster tail sitting atop some of the best tomato basil spaghetti you'll have outside Scarpetta. The cacio e Pepe - a simple dish of pasta, cheese, and black pepper explodes with flavor. Less is definitely more when it comes to fine dining and the chefs at Casa Mangiare know that fewer ingredients usually result in more and better flavor. Dolci - dessert. Ah, this is where the devil appears. The desserts are soooo decadent and so well made you want to come in sometime and just order off the dolci menu. The atmosphere is brilliant. Once you step inside you would never believe you're in BCS - the place is so sophisticated and elegant you'd think you're in NY or Chicago or... Milan. They have live music a few nights a week and it just adds to the ultimate dining experience. Lastly, and most importantly, the service... on every one of my visits the service was exceptional. From the hostess when you walk in, to the servers and back waiters, and for me - I love to sit at the bar - the bartenders. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, professional, and seemed to genuinely care about my experience. Though, the bartender with the suspenders has a bit of an arrogance that doesn't fit with Casa Mangiare. Finding quality staff in a "college town" like BCS can be daunting. But Casa Mangiare has assembled the best staff of any eatery I encountered in the city. If you're looking for simply the best dining experience you can have in Bryan/College Station you must go to Casa Mangiare. While I live over a thousand miles away, I'm already planning when I can return to BCS just so I can have another meal at Casa Mangiare. It is solidly in my top 10 restaurants of all-time. read more

Came here for a date night and left full and satisfied! The restaurant is stunning, blue accents with nice calm jazz music, and lovely ambience lighting. Started with the bread and oil and decided to get the Porco Fumo cocktail. The drink was pineapple flavored with a dash of gin, and had overall smoky but balance taste. For appetizers/ antipasta, we tried the fried calamari and Anarcini di riso. The calamari was well cooked, lightly fried and tasted great with the lemon and sauces. The arancini di riso, was a fried rice mushroom ball and it was very different but a MUST HAVE! For our entree, we went with the Scottish Salmon and had it well done. The asparagus was a great blend and the plate was overall great. I tried the lobster spaghetti and it was well spiced. It's recommended to cut up the lobster and eat it along with the spaghetti to get the full flavor. Lastly, the tiramisu for dessert was AMAZING! It wasn't too sweet and the coffee notes hit the spot. We tried this place for the first time today. Let me start with the ambiance. The facility is beautiful. They have an elegant setting and the chandlers are gorgeous. What isn't working? The song list. I don't want to go to a high end Italian restaurant and listen to urban music. I will say they had a little Frank Sinatra but most of the songs were not good and low brow. Food was above average... kind of. We had the oysters to start and ever one of mine had shell in it. The season was on point but the crunching and spitting it out ruined the dish. My wife had the spaghetti carbonara and she wanted salt because it was bland. No salt on the table. I had the lobster pizza. It was actually very good. I was on a work trip but it was also my birthday, so wanted to have a special meal. You know, the pressures of having fun on your birthday. This place wasn't a bad choice. I'd dine again, but order different items. I walked in on a Monday night and they were pretty much dead except for 3-4 other tables of couples on dates. Snippets of conversation I overheard from the three tables: "You can't really mess up pasta." "No one uses their middle name, anyways." "It's nice going to a real gym again." I ordered the Godfather cocktail. I didn't like it, but that's probably my fault. It's a scotch drink. I also ordered the scallops. I ordered a second cocktail, the Texas Heat, which had an interesting combination of vanilla and jalapeños. Finally, I ordered the chocolate cake to take back to my room. All together, it was $86 before tip. I wouldn't call either of the cocktails delicious. The offerings were both creative and brainy, and they were strong. The Godfather, as mentioned previously, was not my kind of drink although it had coconut in it. The Texas Heat wasn't even spicy at all. Not "mild" but absolutely no jalapeño flavor. I like spicy cocktails, not sweet ones. It bummed me out a little. The scallop risotto had delicious flavor... but the risotto was hard an undercooked! I still ate it, because the flavor was simply incredible. I'm just bummed about that hard, undercooked risotto. The scallops were good. There were three of them, on a yellow bed of saffron risotto. The food on the plate was about the size of my hand. The ganache cake was nothing memorable. The service was incredible. I think his name was Matthew. He was attentive and really cared about doing great work. I'd give them another try. I'd experiment until I found something I really loved because I'm sure they've got it. A bit too pricy to explore on a regular family dinner rotation with little kids, but as a birthday present to myself after a 4 hour drive from Dallas it was fine. With a $70 minimum per person for the "Graduation Special," any item worth eating was an extra $20-$80 supplemental charge. To put it in perspective, you could get an 8oz Filet Mignon, a soup/salad, and a lovely glass of wine at Perry's and it would be both twice the quality and cheaper than what you would expect to get here.
