So I was leaving an event in the area and we decided to go ahead and check this out. I had never been before but I was sure glad I did. It's in a shopping center so there's free parking in that area. It doesn't look like much. It doesn't look like it's super big, but it actually has plenty of space. Maybe not to fit a group of 20, but you will be able to fit groups of people and if you wanted to go in share food. The service was good, it took a little while to get service, not sure what happened, but once we got there we were good. We came in and sat right down immediately, and enjoyed the decor on the wall. If you're a fan of anime or Godzilla or Japanese lore or anything along those lines, you will definitely appreciate this place! They do have a bar there but I didn't get anything to drink, all I got was water. Which was perfectly fine. It's not a full bar as if you can order everything under the sun but they do have enough alcohol to get you where you need to be. And they have plenty of sake choices as well. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - the ramen was solid. It was basically the regular Ramen but they gave you a little cup of sauce to spice it up, and spice it up. It did! It gave it the right amount of heat. The noodles were tender, the meat was flavorful, it hit on all cylinders. Pork belly - the pork belly was good, really good. Came with a sauce on it on a skewer and it was amazing. I think I might have got a couple orders of those! It was very tangy and flavorful! Shaka shaka potato - Now this threw me off a little bit. These are french fries LOL. I don't know what they were trying to do, but they were french fries. I came with seasoning in a bag. You put the seasoning in and pour it in the bowl. And I will say this, the seasoning felt like you was going to give me hypertension LOL! The salt was off the charts, but in case you're wondering what they are, they're french fries! Takoyaki - So these are octopus balls. Really good. Really flavorful. They're chewy and tangy and the sauce is amazing. They even come with a really good presentation about them because they basically moves. You'll have to go to see! Chicken and scallions - this skewer was probably my favorite skewer and I don't know why because it was very simple. It was grilled and marinated chicken and scallions, but for some reason it hit so differently! I couldn't figure out why LOL. I did order more of these too! Just that good. So we didn't go to dessert, and I wish I really remembered the name of it. It was the bean paste fish cake with green tea ice cream. No, I'm not a dessert fan by any means, and I tasted it and it was okay, but it wasn't really my thing. But if you like a little bit of hint of sweet not overly sweet, this may be your bag. Overall, you're going to go ahead and come here and not be forced to break the bank. They have specials that you can check out, so everything is very affordable and reasonably priced. This may be a new spot I need to go ahead and check out More often!

Still 6 stars guys! My favorite restaurant! I left somewhere where the food was NOT flooding at 9pm to start looking for places that were still open and that were appetizing. And lo and behold I cannot believe that I forgot about my favorite restaurant. I was with my friend and it was his first time there and let's just say he was in heaven. I always leave so full and everything is ordered that you could want for two people $100. Insane. The service on this night was a little slow, but I also don't think that they anticipated as many people on a late night Wednesday. I've never had that as an issue before so it's almost not worth mentioning. They have walls that were covered with anime, posters, and stickers feel like they remove some of them that's how often I'm at this restaurant lol but I'm excited to see what replace them. I'll back for sure!

I think the best thing about this place is the ambience and vibes that's created. It's very lowkey yet so very fun. The sushi/fish however is sub-par. Not very fresh but I guess it matches the price point.

Beef Curry. Not a vegetable to be found. Was told "they're in the curry".

Ordered take out. Description online read: Beef Curry Udon Noodle In curry broth with sukiyaki beef, egg, & vegetables in hot pot. What was received we shredded beef, 90% fat and 0 vegetables. My husband's ordered Miso Tan Tan which came with 2 petals (no better word to describe) of bokchoy and 1/4 C of protein.

Expansive and exciting menu. This is my second day here and I just can't get enough of this place. The staff are so nice and welcoming! I went to Japan at the end of last year and I've been obsessed with Japanese food ever since then. Most places you go to are sushi restaurants that may have a few other Japanese culinary offerings as well... NOT THIS PLACE! Yes, they do have sushi, but it's not even on the main menu. What they DO have is 6 pages chock full of fried, grilled, or raw delicacies that you just have to taste to believe. Coupled with the old Japan aesthetic, you'll come back to this place again and again. I hate that I'm even giving up my new little secret favorite place, but I feel the works deserves to try this place!

This place reminded me of the izakayas I visited in Japan - same interior decor, style, and of course, the food! The okonomiyaki with noodles was delicious. Others in the group I went with enjoyed their ramen and skewers as well. The Izeko jelly sparkling sake (yuzu) was delicious and refreshing. They didn't have the yuzu chuhai I originally wanted but offered orange instead...and I was handed half an orange and a citrus juicer to prep it myself which was an entertaining experience. Wasn't quite the yuzu chuhai or highball I loved while I was in Japan but the other food and drinks were great! There is a separate alcove in the front for groups that requires shoes to be taken off. There is plenty of parking available as this restaurant is located in a little plaza of sorts.

Just so so food with literally no service... We waited for 40 mins , not even served with appetizers and found out something wrong when all 5 tables after us got served full dishes. The waiters didn't check on us during the whole meal. The food was really just so so, didn't compensate my bad experience at all.. also they didn't clean up any dish even tho our space is full. Tofu 1/5: it was just right out of fridge. We tasted the ice cracks in it. Onigiri 2/5 : served cold. The rice is cold and solid. Tan tan ramen 2/5: the soup is really just soy sauce.. not creamy or anything. Thought it was bone soup with soy sauce but ‍.

Ginya Izakaya has a traditional and cozy environment! You can sit at the bar or the booths. The server was attentive, but slowed down a bit after my group had been there for a while which would have been fine--but our waters were not refilled (even though they were empty) so I was a bit thirsty by the end of my meal. I ordered the Sakusaku Shrimp, Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, and Taiyaki. The Sakusaku Shrimp was crispy perfection and the shrimp itself tasted fresh. I also liked the dip that came with the shrimp, which I believe is the Ginya aioli sauce. I expected my Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen to have a reddish broth, but the restaurant gives you some chili oil in a side cup that you can add to the broth. I added the entire cup into my broth, but I felt like the chili oil did not add much spice to my broth. However, it was still a yummy dish! Lastly, I ordered the Taiyaki which came with a red bean filling and vanilla ice cream plus whip cream and sprinkles on the side. I really liked this Taiyaki because it seemed fried, which is not the norm for this dessert. It was crispy on the outside, but very soft and thick on the inside which made for a great texture combination. In addition, the red bean filling was delicious! One of my friends also knew one of the chefs at the restaurant and he was very friendly and fun to chat with! Overall, I would recommend this place for people to try there are so many options for food on their menu as well.

My sister and I stopped in during a storm and so glad we did! We went in without any idea of what we wanted but the huge menu gave us so many options! We opted for some takoyaki and gyoza starters. Then for our entrees we got a bowl of ramen, grilled eel, and sukiyaki. Everything came out pretty quickly and definitely delivered. Our waiter was super nice and patient with us since we could not make up our minds what we wanted. The vibe of the place is cozy and warm. Extremely welcoming considering there was a crazy storm going on outside. The only thing I didn't like too much was that my highball was pretty flat and weak. Though the small can of sake we also ordered made up for it big timeee. Probably going to be one of my future favorites.

A group of colleagues and I visited Ginya Izakaya while in ATL for a work trip. I was surprised to see that they had a corner booth large enough to fit our group (10 people), but it was perfect! The restaurant had a casual atmosphere and was comfortable. We ordered a variety of drinks, appetizers and main courses once we were seated. While there, I tried: - Warm Sake: Something interesting to try, but wasn't something I'd order again - Cream Soda: We thought this would be like the cream soda you buy at the store but instead it is melon soda with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. This isn't something our group liked or that I'd recommend. - Beef Skewers: I wasn't a fan of these as they tasted like charcoal from the grill but some others in the group enjoyed them - Pork Yakisoba: Absolutely delicious and something I'd order again! The service was good, but I didn't realize they had already added in a 20% tip for themselves as it isn't very noticeable on the receipt. I didn't realize until I looked back after the fact to realize they had gotten two tips then.

If you love raw fish, look no further! Growing up eating sushi made by my dad, I'm extremely cautious and mindful about where I'm eating any raw seafood. Since Ginya is always busy, and you can see the chefs preparing the bowls, I felt comfy grabbing a sashimi don bowl here. My first experience was great, and for $20 I couldn't resist this tuna, salmon & eel bowl. I've come back more than a handful of times now and every time the fish is high quality the tastes so fresh. The appetizers are also great, my favorites are the squid legs and chicken karaage. The agedashi tofu left much to be desired, and I wouldn't recommend. The breading around the tofu was too soggy, and the sauce was lacking in flavor. The vibes of the restaurant are very cozy, yet open. Great place for a date or for moderate sized groups!

My experience at Ginya Izakaya was not great unfortunately. Maybe Sunday night is the wrong time to dine there. Maybe I chose the wrong food. My friends recommended it after a Friday night dinner they were enthusiastic about. Based on my experience the salmon avocado roll was just ok. The rice was not sticking together. Did not like the udon that much, we've had much better in other places. The place is beyond casual and to me the ambiance does not match with the type of cousins. Service was kind of slow and inattentive. Not worth the drive.

Amazing place, we ended up going since The Works closed (and I was craving ramen) but I guess everything happens for a reason because I found my favorite ramen place! Has parking and the service staff are very friendly.

Warm, fun, putting on a real show, searing the fish tableside and plating it beautifully, clearly wanting us to film and enjoy it. They were great. Everything around them was where it fell apart. The "unlimited sake" they advertise didn't really happen. We had to ask two or three times for a single refill, which stops feeling unlimited pretty fast. The room was dirtier and louder than I'd expect for $120 omakase (tip was already included after the $99 meal), and the fish leaned toward the cheaper end, sea bream, mackerel, no salmon, nothing that felt special for the price. I've done omakase in a lot of places and I came in knowing what it can be. This didn't get there. The part that actually soured it: we were taking photos because we were thrilled to be there, doing exactly what the chefs were encouraging. A nearby guest seemed annoyed that we were enjoying ourselves, and instead of anything being said to her, a server came over and singled me out. In a bright, loud room, while the chefs were actively performing for the cameras, that felt backwards. It made the happiest, most engaged people at the counter feel like the problem. I wanted this to be a special night for my friend, and the chefs did their part. The restaurant around them just didn't protect it.

It was busier than usual--probably thanks to the holiday--but the atmosphere was still fantastic, as always. The service was impeccable--attentive, warm, and full of great suggestions. I ordered the chicken okonomiyaki, a miso soup, and, after my last time's mistake, just one negroni--because, wow, that drink hit like a Mike Tyson punch the first time. The miso soup was, as always, a comforting classic--those little tofu cubes floating in that warm broth are just perfect. But the star was the chicken okonomiyaki. I only got the small one, but the flavor was out of this world. The chicken was so unbelievably tender--like, the A5 wagyu of chicken. I can still taste it days later--it was that good. I can already see it becoming my go-to, though I might go bigger next time, depending on my appetite. One of my favorite things is that OK Yaki keeps the kitchen open super late--especially handy on a Saturday night. If you're reading this and you're on the fence--don't second-guess yourself. Just to be clear this is not a spot you would go to watch a game or bring a large party so don't do that lol. The parking lot that they have is very small so keep that in mind. You can see signs that point to around the neighborhood, which is around the corner. It's in a strip mall so it shares a lot with a few other places. It's not surprising that the lot is going to be full of homeless people if you try to go. When you come in, you have to wait until you're seated and once you get greeted it's usually pretty cool. Everybody else is pretty friendly and they keep coming up to the table to make sure you're good. Well that was my first time experience at least. Handmade gyoza - the gyoza was really good and it had a very savory flavor and taste to it. It felt like they were very fresh and they filled them to the brim and you could taste it. I got the pork ones because I wasn't getting tofu lol and they were really really good and I would actually go back for those when I go back. Okonomiyaki - this one is a weird one so it's a pancake type of situation but it's more cabbage than pancake. I'm not sure how I feel about it but it wasn't terrible but it wasn't really good either. Now I will say that the fact that what sent this over was all the sauces that they put on it. I'm not sure what the brown sauce was but at the same time I know that the mayo was basically drenching it as well. You can get one topping on there and the selected topping was steak. The flavor of the sauces and the steak pretty much carried the pancake because it didn't have a lot on its own. I am glad I tried it but I probably would not rush back for this. Karaage - it's fried chicken. It's not like it's anything earth-changing or somebody's auntie or grandma making it but it was pretty decent fried chicken. It came with mayo that you can dip it in but it wasn't anything life changing to me. Japanese curry (steak) - the Japanese curry was good but it was just curry. It wasn't anything that I couldn't get anywhere else at another type of restaurant but it was good and it was savory and it gave me exactly what I needed. When I ordered curry it came with rice, which was also nice that you could use as part of the meal as well, but it was just pretty good curry. Just if you need options... It comes in vegetarian if you want to do that because they have a tofu version as well but I didn't get that at all LOL! Overall I would give this another go but it wasn't a complete five star thing for me. It wasn't bad but at the same time it wasn't life-changing. I'd have to try a couple more things just to make sure. It was worth my time and effort and it will be worth my time to give it another go when I go on that side of town.

The Samurai Roll was substantial and I appreciate the generosity of the roll. It was topped with salmon, and usually when rolls are topped with fish, it's usually a pretty thin slice of fish, but these slices of salmon were quite thick in my opinion. The pieces of sushi themselves are also fairly thick - it was a big bite for me to eat each piece in one. Their menu is pretty comprehensive and includes fried rice, noodles, sushi rolls, sashimi, soups etc. As we were a large group we ordered a bunch of things. Most of the entrees are served with a salad and soup making it quite the meal. We ordered the sashimi appetizer, the pork gyoza, shrimp shumai, omelette, combination fried rice, B-52 roll, sunrise roll, crunchy roll I think. Sashimi was fresh - yellowtail, tuna, salmon. The gyoza was delicious and table favorite Honestly, I even enjoyed the pork belly omelette. So flavorful... The fried rice was cooked well but was missing some seasoning/salt. Otherwise good. The rolls were great and we selected ones that had some spice. My favorite was the sunrise roll - a little crunchy inside yet with a slight kick. The staff felt a little overwhelmed with our group but they were polite and helpful. Food was prices reasonably and worth it (for the portion sizes).

The portion was perfect size for a big meal for 1 person, or if you have 2 people you could split it and add an appetizer and it would be perfect. The shoyu yuzu chicken ramen was delicious, very fresh and flavorful toppings and great noodles and broth. I got the spicy tuna and crunchy yellowtail for sushi rolls, and of these i liked the crunchy yellowtail more but they were both really good. The dessert menu looks very enticing and with the great food and service, reasonable prices, and clean cool interior, this is a Midtown spot i would easily recommend and will surely return to

The restaurant itself is charming as they have private booths with curtains, which makes for a cozy dining experience. I ordered the sukiyaki with a mini chirashi and shared the okonomiyaki. The chirashi was the really good because the fish was fresh and flavorful. However, the sukiyaki was a bit too salty for my palate, and the beef was slightly overcooked. The okonomiyaki was enjoyable, though I personally would have loved a bit more sauce to round it out. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but there is definitely some room for refinement with their main dishes.

Japanese owned and operated authentic must try experience outside of Atlanta. Everyone comes here for their homemade desserts and izakaya bites, but I come here for the real hidden gem, their sushi omakase. Favorites: 1 おまかせ Omakase - Specifically nigiri style omakase. Just let the sushi chef know how many pieces, amount you would like to spend, and types of seafood you like and dislike. Just like a real omakase in Japan. 2 天ぷら Tempura - Any of their tempura items bring me back to some of my favorite spots in Japan. The batter is light, fluffy, and perfectly salted. 3 Desserts ! - Yes!!! This spot is famous for their handmade desserts, like their coffee jelly parfait as well as their rich matcha creme brulee. This is real matcha, not that weak stuff. Will be back to try more of their izakaya snack items like takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Daiso Atlantaの真横にある日本人経営のお店。

It was cozy and quiet with dim lighting at each table. It was just what we needed after a long day of parenting lol. The sake was good! We also ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio which was decent. The owner was so cool as well. Overall, I would come back and try more sushi options.

That said, locals recommended it, and I usually love sushi as a post-flight meal since it's light and fresh. The ambiance is dreamy, and I really appreciated the attentive service and bar seating. I ordered an avocado ball with caviar and spicy tuna, which was lovely and beautifully plated. I'd also seen a foodie Instagrammer mention their off-menu crispy rice rolls, so I gave those a try. Unfortunately, they fell a bit flat for me. I ended up adding a lot of soy sauce since they sincerely lacked flavor. When the bill came, I realized this probably wasn't the best choice for a quick, light meal. The prices were comparable to California, but the quality didn't quite match. That said, the person sitting next to me mentioned she visits often and felt that the night was a bit off, so I'd be open to giving it another try next time I'm in town.
