I always gave Sushi Avenue good marks, but it's the difference between watching the Gwinnett Stripers and the Atlanta Braves. Everything we had was amazing. They also have a tuna cutting coming up. I was in the area for an appointment and was able to meet a friend for lunch beforehand and she recommended this place--it has high reviews and was one of the newer restaurants in the area so we decided to give it a try. I got there early was able to get a seat and tried a Tokyo Autumn which is made with vodka, ginger beer, ginger, cucumber and mint--extremely refreshing and a nice way to start off the meal. We did food family style. We ordered the addictive cabbage which is made with raw cabbage, sesame oil and fried garlic chips (super tasty and I understand why they call it that) as well as the smoked scallop. It has an amazing presentation and the sauce I was able to put on the cabbage as well. It only has 2 pieces but was worth it. For the rolls, we ordered the Picante (not pictured), Fujisan and Love Triangle. My favorite roll was the picante because of the spice and the Fujisan had too much imitation crab meat for my liking. Quiet, unassuming spot that has booth seating and tables with chairs that could fit groups of up to 4-5 comfortably. This is the cutest spot! Very unassuming and I've walked past it a few times- don't do that! Go inside and experience some of the best sushi! It's nice to find places outside of the city for some great sushi. Tucked inside this spot in Decatur is a true gem. The fish is flown in and served fresh! I made reservations for the family on the website after reading the recommendations. We came to celebrate my son's academic success and my son loves good Japanese food, especially sushi. Saturday evening, the parking was full behind the restaurant so I dropped off the family and parked at my gym a block down the street. We started with the bang bang shrimp and pork gyoza appetizers which were tasty. The kids had miso soup which was stronger than they are used to. My husband ordered the mixed tempura and the picante roll. I ordered the toro box roll which the whole family enjoyed. Son ordered the salmon which takes 25 minutes to prepare but was worth the wait. Daughter ordered the tempura ramen and liked how they gave her a pot of dried peppers to add to the ramen. Food was outstanding and I think five different staff members came by to check on us. The low sodium soy sauce is in the small shirt container and the regular soy sauce is in the taller container. The plates were pretty and the wooden utensils was unique. I love how the fish is flown in from Japan weekly. And I noticed the health inspection score is now an A, 92. We were in and out within an hour which I thought was extremely prompt. Finally tried out Takumi, and I was so impressed. I feel like this is definitely a hidden gem. The owners welcomed us in to order, and they have a great menu. We tried out some rolls and the fried rice, and it was all so good. The hot-ta-te roll was really tasty and definitely a unique roll I haven't seen before; the flavors all worked well together. Also got chicken karage as a starter, and it was a pretty good-sized portion and had a nice taste. I definitely suggest this place out. Delicious food and great service. We celebrated Father's Day a little late and decided to come here for dinner. We were a party of 8 and I could definitely see this place getting packed on the weekends (it's not a very big restaurant) so I would recommend making a reservation. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share with as starters - addictive cabbage, takoyaki, bang bang shrimp and gyoza. My faves here are the cabbage (truly addictive, lol) and the takoyaki (it was soft and gooey inside with big pieces of octopus). My husband and I shared the crunchy roll and I ordered the nabeyaki udon. The crunchy roll was delicious, but my favorite was the udon. 4 Stars for delicious food in a great location near the Main Street in Decatur. I recently came to Takumi with a few coworkers and enjoyed a meal by the front window. I ordered the Chirashi don as my main and we got the addictive cabbage to share. The cabbage is aptly named because it is a tangy and savory snack that we devoured quickly. I tasted a lot of toasted sesame oil in the sauce, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The chirashi don was beautifully presented and included what tasted like very fresh cuts of tuna, salmon, etc. it was just what I was hoping for! Our server seemed pretty new and was very friendly. The only drawback was that the dishes took a long time to get, and one of the gals at the table got her main dish 10+ minutes after the rest of us, so we were done or almost done eating when she got her more elaborate lobster dish. The server also didn't come back to us for a long while, so I had to go to the bar area to ask her to bring the check. Not a huge deal, but considering we were one of only two parties in the restaurant, I probably would let them know ahead of time if you're in a rush. Another Decatur gem! Knowing that I had some special 5-star guests coming into town to join me for a day, I hopped onto Yelp and came across Takumi Cuisine which was less than 3 minutes from our final destination for the day. Although I can't safely eat raw fish at this time, sushi is still a personal favorite of mine so when I read the great reviews for Takumi and saw the pics posted by my fellow Yelpers, I knew it would be a great spot for us to enjoy lunch. Takumi is not a huge restaurant but offers ample seating and flavors that are larger than life. Upon entry, I was really impressed by the beautiful, calming interior decor, the full bar tucked into the back and the relaxing vibe that filled the room. We visited on a Thursday afternoon so there was only one or two other parties seated when we got in which I didn't mind at all. We were greeted by a sweet young lady and ask for a booth by the window (always better for foodie pics!) We started with the addictive cabbage and, WOW. I see why it has that name. The cabbage was fresh and crunchy, covered in a sweet + savory sauce and carrots that had us all scrambling for a bite. My only complaint? I wish it came in a bigger bowl! It was that good. My lunch pals and I ordered a variety of dishes when it came to our entrees. I decided to go with the Takumi roll, as it was cooked, and I was not disappointed. This roll is truly a visual spectacle when it hits your table. A hefty lobster roll with about 12+ pieces, topped with avocado and caviar (which I got on the side to adhere to doctors orders), and finished with a lobster tail for garnish. This roll was as delicious as it was beautiful! As I'm eating for two, I was actually surprised that I couldn't finish the entire roll, that's how big the portion was. Service throughout our lunch was absolutely fantastic. Our waitress was extremely patient and courteous, and took the time to share her personal favorites as we looked over the menu. There was also an older woman who checked on us a few times to see how we were enjoying our meals and to grab some dishes, such a sweet energy. Takumi in Decatur was the perfect spot for a warm meal. The tonkotsu ramen was so creamy and filling. The egg was cooked perfectly and I was even provided my personal pot of chili oil on the side. I added a little to each bite and it gave a perfect flavorful kick. And the addictive cabbage was well-- addictive. It was the best refreshing appetizer to begin the meal. Came here for a quick 3pm lunch with some fellow Yelpers. We were one of the only tables here! The menu has anything you could want: raw sushi, sashimi, appetizers, ramens, stir-fry noodles, the works. We tried the addictive cabbage. It was indeed addictive. I would never think a bowl of raw cabbage would leave me wanting more, but here we are, Atlanta! I ordered the Love Triangle roll, salmon and tuna, spicy mayo, roe, deliciousness. While the roll was amazing, I could've done with a few more pieces, I was pretty hungry and it didn't really seem like enough bang for my buck. The food was okay, and I really love the look of the place. It's a nice, small restaurant that is ideal for intimate gatherings. However, this past Friday, I experienced the worst service I've ever had there. The young lady who approached our table didn't greet us or introduce herself. She simply asked what we wanted. At first, I didn't think much of it. We ordered an appetizer and two sushi rolls. Shortly after, a larger group came in to celebrate a birthday. They appeared to be of a different ethnicity, and I noticed a significant difference in how they were treated. They were warmly greeted, informed of the specials, and received much more attentive service. After receiving our sushi rolls, we asked for some sauce on the side. We waited, but it never arrived. I asked again as our server walked past our table several times, but we still never received it. Rather than let the experience ruin our day, we decided to ask for the check. The chef put something together for us it was amazing I travel a lot for business all over the country and the service and the food was incredible. I really hate leaving less than five star reviews honestly. Today I went for lunch based on their reviews. When I got there, it was totally empty and there was only one gentleman serving. He was extremely rude and felt very inconvenienced every time I asked him any kind of question. The food and the drinks are way overpriced, compared to most in the area for the quality. When I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, the bathroom was absolutely disgusting like gas station level gross. And then to top it all off what I ordered, which did in fact taste great, I got very sick. About 30 minutes after leaving. So this was my experience unfortunately it looks like that's not the norm here so maybe I'll try it again soon but again unfortunately that was the experience. Absolutely amazing!! We are Japanese food fans and our first time here was spectacular. As one would expect from Japanese culture, everything in this beautiful restaurant is perfect. The first thing I noticed was the authentic music, very classic and much appreciated. The menu is extensive and not just sushi. Extensive selection of fresh fish flown over from Japan. Lots of Japanese whiskies, gin, vodka and sakis. Sapporo on tap. Melt in your mouth fatty tuna stood out. I will definitely get his again. I live the glassware. Even the water glasses are really beautiful! Everything from the high end glassware to the wooden utensils makes this neighborhood gem very special. I was thrilled when I heard about a new sushi option in Decatur. Takumi is a great addition to the area! The are a few complimentary parking spaces directly behind the restaurant. Street parking is also available. Everything Ive tried has been delicious. I typically order the bang bang shrimp and the shrimp boat roll. The shrimp are perfectly crisp and tossed in a scrumptious sauce. The shrimp boat roll consists of tempura shrimp, cucumber, mayo, avocado and is topped with shrimp and eel sauce. Our party of 4 were visiting from out of town and wanted ramen. We did our research and found Takumi. I will reference by saying we walked in at 2 without realizing the kitchen closed at 2:30. We were sat and immediately given glass water. The utensils were wooden and in a cloth pouch which were really nice. I've never had ramen before so I was in for a treat! Takumi is a great addition to downtown Decatur. I stopped in to try a few things and confirm my assumption that the chef is from another restaurant I used to frequent. And I'm glad they found a new spot. I was short on time and wanted something light, so I had the takoyaki and the omakase. Takoyaki is my favorite and always the deciding factor for me. 10/10, perfectly cooked and plenty of octopus in each one. And as soon as I bit into the first one I knew these were my friends from the other restaurant. The omakase sashimi was also very delicious and satisfying. I added a side of rice just to fill me up a little bit more. MP varies, but it was $35 the day I went. I did inquire about more expanded omakase options and they have 3 different options available at standard omakase prices. All 3 are by reservation only, so I definitely want to try those. read more

They are clearly biased and/or racist. Only one staff member that we spoke with actually knew anything about the food on the menu. Took forever to get my drink. It seemed as if the staff was just thrown together last minute with a lot of confusion happening right in front of everyone. Then an older Asian lady, walked to every single table across from me and my partner and around us and walked right by our booth to speak to the other patrons and ask them if everything was ok. She purposefully did not speak to us and when everyone was leaving she said bye to every individual that left the restaurant and wished them well. I had dinner here with family on a Wednesday night, and we were seated right away. It's a pretty small restaurant, and everyone was really nice. We ordered 4 sushi rolls to share: a California roll, a spicy tuna roll, a rainbow roll, and a shrimp boat roll. They were all very good, but the shrimp boat was our favorite and we ordered a second one of those after finishing the first! The prices seemed average.
