Small, quiet restaurant with good food - service was quick, try the spicy tuna crispy rice and the mint green tea were my favorites. It's def a place you come to eat and move on, not a hangout spot.

I made reservations for the family on the website after reading the recommendations. We came to celebrate my son's academic success and my son loves good Japanese food, especially sushi. Saturday evening, the parking was full behind the restaurant so I dropped off the family and parked at my gym a block down the street. We started with the bang bang shrimp and pork gyoza appetizers which were tasty. The kids had miso soup which was stronger than they are used to. My husband ordered the mixed tempura and the picante roll. I ordered the toro box roll which the whole family enjoyed. Son ordered the salmon which takes 25 minutes to prepare but was worth the wait. Daughter ordered the tempura ramen and liked how they gave her a pot of dried peppers to add to the ramen. Food was outstanding and I think five different staff members came by to check on us. The low sodium soy sauce is in the small shirt container and the regular soy sauce is in the taller container. The plates were pretty and the wooden utensils was unique. I love how the fish is flown in from Japan weekly. And I noticed the health inspection score is now an A, 92. We were in and out within an hour which I thought was extremely prompt. All the food was delicious and I would recommend highly!

Delicious food and great service. We celebrated Father's Day a little late and decided to come here for dinner. We were a party of 8 and I could definitely see this place getting packed on the weekends (it's not a very big restaurant) so I would recommend making a reservation. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share with as starters - addictive cabbage, takoyaki, bang bang shrimp and gyoza. My faves here are the cabbage (truly addictive, lol) and the takoyaki (it was soft and gooey inside with big pieces of octopus). My husband and I shared the crunchy roll and I ordered the nabeyaki udon. The crunchy roll was delicious, but my favorite was the udon. It was served with a separate basket of veggie and shrimp tempura. I just love, love their presentation here!

4 Stars for delicious food in a great location near the Main Street in Decatur. I recently came to Takumi with a few coworkers and enjoyed a meal by the front window. I ordered the Chirashi don as my main and we got the addictive cabbage to share. The cabbage is aptly named because it is a tangy and savory snack that we devoured quickly. I tasted a lot of toasted sesame oil in the sauce, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The chirashi don was beautifully presented and included what tasted like very fresh cuts of tuna, salmon, etc. it was just what I was hoping for! Our server seemed pretty new and was very friendly. The only drawback was that the dishes took a long time to get, and one of the gals at the table got her main dish 10+ minutes after the rest of us, so we were done or almost done eating when she got her more elaborate lobster dish. The server also didn't come back to us for a long while, so I had to go to the bar area to ask her to bring the check. Not a huge deal, but considering we were one of only two parties in the restaurant, I probably would let them know ahead of time if you're in a rush. Overall, a really tasty meal that left us all satisfied and full!

Another Decatur gem! Knowing that I had some special 5-star guests coming into town to join me for a day, I hopped onto Yelp and came across Takumi Cuisine which was less than 3 minutes from our final destination for the day. Although I can't safely eat raw fish at this time, sushi is still a personal favorite of mine so when I read the great reviews for Takumi and saw the pics posted by my fellow Yelpers, I knew it would be a great spot for us to enjoy lunch. Takumi is not a huge restaurant but offers ample seating and flavors that are larger than life. Upon entry, I was really impressed by the beautiful, calming interior decor, the full bar tucked into the back and the relaxing vibe that filled the room. We visited on a Thursday afternoon so there was only one or two other parties seated when we got in which I didn't mind at all. We were greeted by a sweet young lady and ask for a booth by the window (always better for foodie pics!) We started with the addictive cabbage and, WOW. I see why it has that name. The cabbage was fresh and crunchy, covered in a sweet + savory sauce and carrots that had us all scrambling for a bite. My only complaint? I wish it came in a bigger bowl! It was that good. My lunch pals and I ordered a variety of dishes when it came to our entrees. I decided to go with the Takumi roll, as it was cooked, and I was not disappointed. This roll is truly a visual spectacle when it hits your table. A hefty lobster roll with about 12+ pieces, topped with avocado and caviar (which I got on the side to adhere to doctors orders), and finished with a lobster tail for garnish. This roll was as delicious as it was beautiful! As I'm eating for two, I was actually surprised that I couldn't finish the entire roll, that's how big the portion was. Service throughout our lunch was absolutely fantastic. Our waitress was extremely patient and courteous, and took the time to share her personal favorites as we looked over the menu. There was also an older woman who checked on us a few times to see how we were enjoying our meals and to grab some dishes, such a sweet energy. Truly a delicious experience, I'm so glad that we took the chance to enjoy this beautiful restaurant for the afternoon.

The sushi roll I had was decent. I only had one roll (pictured). It was going good until I looked up and saw a sanitation score of 81!! Won't be going back until the score is up. (Will update this review if the score goes up, feel free to comment if it does)

    Tonkotsu Ramen
    Ashley B.

Takumi in Decatur was the perfect spot for a warm meal. The tonkotsu ramen was so creamy and filling. The egg was cooked perfectly and I was even provided my personal pot of chili oil on the side. I added a little to each bite and it gave a perfect flavorful kick. And the addictive cabbage was well-- addictive. It was the best refreshing appetizer to begin the meal. The service was great with constant check-ins with several of the employees. Parking is available right out the door with via street parking. Which is free after 6!

Came here for a quick 3pm lunch with some fellow Yelpers. We were one of the only tables here! The menu has anything you could want: raw sushi, sashimi, appetizers, ramens, stir-fry noodles, the works. We tried the addictive cabbage. It was indeed addictive. I would never think a bowl of raw cabbage would leave me wanting more, but here we are, Atlanta! I ordered the Love Triangle roll, salmon and tuna, spicy mayo, roe, deliciousness. While the roll was amazing, I could've done with a few more pieces, I was pretty hungry and it didn't really seem like enough bang for my buck. I started with the miso soup, which warmed me up after trekking through the cold. I imagine this space is quite romantic after dark, but was a well-lit lunch spot for conducting Important Sushi Business.

Absolutely amazing!! We are Japanese food fans and our first time here was spectacular. As one would expect from Japanese culture, everything in this beautiful restaurant is perfect. The first thing I noticed was the authentic music, very classic and much appreciated. The menu is extensive and not just sushi. Extensive selection of fresh fish flown over from Japan. Lots of Japanese whiskies, gin, vodka and sakis. Sapporo on tap. Melt in your mouth fatty tuna stood out. I will definitely get his again. I live the glassware. Even the water glasses are really beautiful! Everything from the high end glassware to the wooden utensils makes this neighborhood gem very special. We have been searching for our weekly Japanese restaurant and this is it! The staff are very attentive, friendly and informative. This restaurant is exceptional in all ways! Thank you for providing us with such a high level of dining! See you very soon

This is a cute little traditionally sushi spot. The lady at the bar was super sweet and so intentional with making the strawberry margarita we had. We had the spider roll and deep fried roll which were both fresh and good. I would return to this place to try more of their rolls being that they have a pretty good variety.

Shrimp Boat Roll and Dragon Roll
    Angelica D.

I was thrilled when I heard about a new sushi option in Decatur. Takumi is a great addition to the area! The are a few complimentary parking spaces directly behind the restaurant. Street parking is also available. Everything Ive tried has been delicious. I typically order the bang bang shrimp and the shrimp boat roll. The shrimp are perfectly crisp and tossed in a scrumptious sauce. The shrimp boat roll consists of tempura shrimp, cucumber, mayo, avocado and is topped with shrimp and eel sauce. I ordered the sangria at my recent visit and was quite impressed. The staff is friendly and efficient.

Decatur Rd. at a very busy intersection, it sits tucked into a tiny shopping center, blink and you will drive right past it. Parking is limited, and you can immediately tell the small lot fills up fast, especially during peak hours. I stumbled upon Tenya while in town on a Tuesday, scrolling Yelp in search of a solid lunch spot, and I'm glad I did. This is a family-owned Japanese eatery that specializes in comfort food, and according to their website, everything is made from scratch, which absolutely shows in the quality. I placed my order online and picked it up with ease. I ordered the Shrimp Saku Saku appetizer along with a fresh garden Tenya salad. The shrimp were excellent, perfectly crispy with a flavorful panko coating that didn't feel heavy or greasy. The salad was impressively fresh and came with their house-made ginger dressing, which paired beautifully with the crisp greens and added just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and cozy, with a decent amount of seating for its size. The customer service was warm and welcoming; the lady at the counter greeted me kindly and had my order ready shortly after I arrived, making the pickup process smooth and pleasant. A nice bonus is the selection of packaged Japanese snacks and drinks available at the counter, always a fun touch and something you don't see everywhere. Next time, I plan to dine in and explore more of the menu, along with sampling some of those snacks and drinks. Tenya is a great example of simple, thoughtfully prepared food done right. I'll definitely be back.

He said that people overlook it all the time. I had walked right by the restaurant multiple times. It's seems it's several restaurants share the same space so that confuses a lot of people. Also, the sign that says "Lifting Noodles" indicating you are in the right place was lying on the ground so I missed it. The restaurant is all the way in the back. I was greeted immediately and directed to place my order via a kiosk which I did. I ordered the Angry Zuko Ramen to go. They do have tables if you want to eat there. The wait was not long at all...maybe 5 minutes. The broth was really tasty and flavorful and had a nice kick to it. The meal is already spicy and when I ordered, there was a "make it spicy" option which I checked. So I'm not sure if by checking that option, it made it even more spicy than how it normally is or not. My only complaint is there was not enough meat and the egg tasted funny.. it had a sweet taste to it. Next time, I'll request more meat and no egg.
