Make sure you dip it in that ultra garlicky mayo. Because with the sauce its a 9.3/10 * Pork Bao Buns - Porky flavor is present. Mayo for creaminess and cucumber for a refreshing finish. 8/10 * Gyoza - Its super crunchy. Flavors are spot on. My 3 coworkers and I went for lunch 2 weeks ago and I've already been back! So excited about their homemade dipping noodles!! We shared 2 orders of buns,1 chicken, 1 pork. The pork was moist the bun was soft and delicate. The pork was crisp but not overly crispy. The bun wasn't overfilled and was perfect! I ordered the Spicy Ramen w/ crispy chicken by accident!! How could I do that??? I went for their homemade dipping noodles!! Dang! Anyway, the broth was aromatic and yummy. The Ramen with the fresh garlic (Extra charge but didnt even need it) and the chili paste...was soo comfy and paired really well with the overcast, rainy weather that day. I kept wondering...how does the chicken stay so crisp?? I've dunked it with every bite and slurp!! Gotta try! As I mentioned, I did go back. It's been about a year since I've been here and I'm so glad to return! Okiboru is as yummy as I remember it, and my boyfriend, a ramen lover, really enjoyed his meal here. This time we got the Pork Belly Baos and I got the Tonkotsu ramen. The baos were very very tasty, however, I felt that the slice of pork belly to be a bit thin - I wish it was thicker! As for the ramen, my opinions are the same as when I last came. Okiboru is very simple and doesn't add toppings (ex. no ear wood mushrooms, bamboo shoots, etc.) I'm not a fan of how they serve the egg cold, even for ramen dishes, however, the egg is perfectly cooked. The tonkotsu broth is flavorful but not overly dense or oily as I've experienced in other places. Their slices of chasu are one of my favorites - the chasu is so flavorful as well! Normally I cringe a little bit at eating ramen because I expect the meal to be a bit dense, but I love how at Okiboru I can enjoy my ramen without feeling gross afterwards. One cool improvement is they now have special to-go containers that are specially designed for noodle soups - the container has a shallow bowl at the top where you can put noodles or anything you don't want to get soggy, and then you can pour the broth at the bottom of the container. My husband and I came in for lunch on a weekday and thankfully had no issue getting a table. A server was at our table and got us started with drinks within a few minutes. It's been a while since I've been here and not quite how I remember it. We got the pork bao buns and the spicy tonkatsu ramen with garlic. The bao buns were amazing per usual. Though the ramen wasn't as good as I remember. There was only 2 small slices of pork and the portion overall seemed a lot smaller. I usually leave stuffed but was still kinda hungry after. Casual restaurant with limited seating - had to wait about 30 minutes for a table for Saturday lunch, but we were seated after 5 minutes since we were ok with the bar. Ordered the umami bowl as an app, spicy tonkatsu ramen, and wafu tsukemen. The umami bowl was delicious and a good deal for $8 - probably would be good as a kids meal! We chose karaage for that and the chicken was tasty. Liked that there was some veg too. Onto the ramen - ordered thick noodles for both - FYI $2 charge for thick noodles on ramen but tsukemen automatically comes with thick noodles. The wafu tsukemen was super tasty and flavorful - can't imagine what the full richness version one tastes like as this was medium richness. My husband enjoyed his tonkatsu ramen and thought the flavor was great and noodles perfectly cooked. He got the spice on the side which was a good call bc it would have been too spicy if all of it was put in the broth lol. We were pretty full after as there were a lot of noodles per portion. 4.5 starts so we'll round up to 5. My only gripe was I wished my tsukemen broth was hotter since the noodles were cold. A few bites in and my broth was already lukewarm. In the past I've had piping hot broth which paired with the cold noodles perfectly. Okiboru is on the side facing Roswell Rd - there's no curbside parking in front of the restaurant but there is guest parking for retail in the parking deck - it's free - there's also free parking along some of the streets within the development - really it's easiest to park nearby and walk to the restaurants or have an Uber drop you off. Okiboru has a somewhat modernist interior that's very easy on the eyes, with exposed wood surfaces and brown-stained concrete floors. There are traditional Izakaya and ramenya elements throughout - sort of love the decor. You're seated at wood-topped tables and served in stone earthenware bowls and plates. I had the opportunity to eat here several times trying many things - the highlight is the Tsukemen Ramen - the dipping broths are full of umami and flavor which really appeal to the Americanized palate. But don't pass on the traditional ramen bowls - those are fantastic too, with great chunks of chasu pork and fresh ingredients. I'm also fond of the pork-belly bun. You simply can't go wrong here. Came back again and tried their spicy chicken ramen and wowowow SO GOOD! I got it with the thicc noodles because I prefer thicker noodles over thinner ones. The broth was SO delicious and rich. I also love that they have chicken options because I have a lot of friends who don't enjoy pork that much. My one friend said this was the best ramen she had ever had! I really like Okiboru! It is one of my favorite ramen places in Georgia, specifically the Sandy Springs location. The inside is nicely decorated and the cartoon drawings on the walls add a bit of character to the restaurant. The service was pretty good as well. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen and it was delicious! I felt like the broth was not as heavy as other restaurants that I have been to, which was good because ramen can be very filling. I like to add extra garlic (it costs more) to my ramen to make it more flavorful, but it is not needed. I absolutely love the Garlic Nori Fries. The flavors are rich, the quality is consistent, and it's become our go-to whenever we're craving ramen. That said, the biggest challenge is the waitlist system. The Yelp waitlist rarely works, which means you typically need to scan the QR code at the restaurant to get in line. During peak hours, wait times can easily stretch to an hour or more. On nicer days, we don't mind waiting outside, but we've had to leave a few times when the weather was too cold or the wait too long. To work around this, we saved the QR code to our phones and now scan it before we leave home, so we're already in line by the time we arrive. We highly recommend other Okiboru fans do the same--it's a game-changer! Loved Okiboru! It's starting to get a little chilly which means I'm *always* craving warm soupy goodness. On this particular day, ramen was the move. A few friends recommended this place so we decided to try it. Honestly, I tried not to get my hopes up - I recently spent a month studying in Japan, where I had some incredible ramen. I avoided eating ramen in the states for about 8 months for fear of disappointment before I finally caved and checked out Okiboru. All I gotta say is OMG. It's actually so good!! My spicy tonkatsu broth was so flavorful and rich, I savored every second of it. My partner got the tsukemen (where you dip your noodles into a rich broth) which he really enjoyed as well. Pro tip: at the end of your meal, you can ask for hot broth/water to thin out the concentrated tsukemen stock so it can enjoyed as a thinner broth!
