    Yummy ginger ice cream!

I'm happy for Ginza to be my 100th review! This is my favourite sushi place! The service is excellent - very attentive and quick. The sushi rolls have a perfect balance of rice and filling; they don't put excessive rice like many other places do. Their salmon sashimi is delicious! Be sure to ask for a side of spicy mayo for dipping (everything) in! Go-to items: - Salmon sashimi - Salmon rose - Spicy salmon pizza - Spicy California roll - Spicy salmon roll - Squid tempura $24.99 for weekday dinner, $26.99 for weekend/holiday dinner.

2018-12-24. Ginza, Woodbridge, ON. Storefront. Plaza located at the SE corner of Weston Rd and Langstaff Rd. Plenty of free parking.

2018-12-24. Ginza Sushi is a chain, but I don't think it's a franchise. It all started with a small place on Finch Ave, between Bayview and Leslie streets. I remember going there in the 90's for my sushi/sashimi fix. The owner told us that he was opening up a new restaurant, Ginza, at a different location. A little while later and this little place was also called Ginza. With the name change came renovations and higher prices. Fast forward a few years and we noticed the expansion of Ginza. They're up to 5 or six locations now, but their sushi/sashimi is consistent. The Weston Rd. Location was close to us and we checked it out of course. It offers AYCE as well as a la carte. When we first came here many many years ago, we did the AYCE. From what I can remember, the variety didn't match the items I liked. It had all your staples of salmon, tuna, all kinds of rolls, and tempura; but it didn't have the lesser known dishes we like like beef tataki (raw beef), soft shell crab (on menu it not part of AYCE) and sashimi. This concludes my history lesson on Ginza. The Weston Rd location is in a plaza with plenty of free parking out front. The storefront is facing West and visible as you drive along Weston Rd. Inside, the place is bigger than it looks as they have a secondary dining area; an expansion which consists if renting the adjacent unit. The decor is bright in the day and more intimate during the evenings. While the place wasn't busy with dine in, delivery/take-out/catering was booming. They had all kinds if orders waiting to be delivered. This Christmas, we decided we were not going to cook. Enter Ginza as part of our dinner courses, and my pot luck contribution. Today, Ginza has a special of up to 50% off their rolls (take out, cash only) to compete with the local competition whom offer 50% off their rolls. While not quite 50% off, Ginza has $4 & $6 rolls depending on House Special or Signature. We went with Ginza because we remembered the quality and were hoping it hadn't changed. On the menu for tonight was: Signature rolls ($6/ea): Spider roll (Soft shell crab) Super rainbow roll Super Dragon roll Deluxe Dragon roll Sushi Eel Salmon Tuna Octopus Cuttlefish Sashimi Spicy scallop (+$1) Tamago The sushi/sashimi were $1/pc with the exception of the spicy scallop, but that's because they came in small cucumber cups ($6/2) Spicy Mayo ($0.5/ea) Spring rolls x 4 pcs (free) The fish on their sushi is made consistently in size, the fish draping the rice entirely lengthwise with the widths hanging over, but leaving enough to show the rice underneath. Between the rice and fish used to be a dollop of wasabi holding the two together, but they no longer do this... they've appealed to the masses and just leave it on the side for you to control. The wasabi continues to have some kick, and is just OK. The fish is a little thinner than I remember, but also OK. Overall, still a decent place with consistent food. Their AYCE prices did go up, but I was also told that the main reason for the increase was menu expansion. I'll have to look into this further and maybe give them another chance if the variety better suits my appetite. But based purely on their sushi and rolls, they're a solid 3 stars. There was a line item indicating a 15% discount for picking-up, but the $ value was more like 3%. I think it was really more of a flat rate discount of $2.75. If you would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

My favourite, go-to sushi place in Woodbridge. Great service and friendly staff. The restaurant and facilities are clean and well-maintained. They offer take-out and delivery service within the area as well. I frequent this place during lunch hours for either their bento boxes or all-you-can-eat lunch menu. Large portion sizes for their bento boxes. Good variety of items for their all-you-can eat. During their dinner hours, they have an amazing selection of sashimi in addition to their regular dinner menu items. They also have bento box combos for dinner.

We order from this location regularly, for take out! But rarely do we sit and eat inn! The staff is kind and the women Who runs here is amazing! ('may') The prices are very competitive and the food quality is good.fast service. But I was completely turned off and disappointed with the interior, the seating mostly, this place is nice and fairly large otherwise. Really starting to show its age. My husband really insisted on the all you can eat , they were very accommodating with my 'gluten free sensitivity ' and we're happy to offer options. Again, the food tastes good and the quality is good, the service is great. Just the interior is a bit of a turn off! And other then then some of our orders being mixed up time to time, we still enjoy returning and dining.

First time trying out AYCE Japanese in Vaughan, everything was better than expected! Sashimi was fresh but lacked variety. Specialty Rolls were A-OK. They change the name of the roll when only one ingredient is different, so many rolls tasted very similar. There were many options with cream cheese and mango, which is a favorite for some. Tempura was fresh and crunchy! Cooked food like terriyaki beef, was tough and too salty. The chicken karage was served as tiny pieces of fried chicken that was mostly just fried batter. Service was great. The whole wait staff looked like they were under 30 - all of them were friendly and made sure we were happy campers. I liked that the portions are small, and that they don't try and stuff you up with large amounts of rice in the sushi. We got to try almost all the rolls because of this! Overall, I would return because of the service, and besides, I'm content with just munching on tempura and sashimi all day.

I haven't done the AYCE but I frequent the take out. 15 minutes, and I have my 3 Ginza Specials Price is a small percentage cheaper vs the other guys. But what I love about Ginza is they put the salad sauce/dressing on the side. The rice in its own bowl. Everything stays fresh, not soggy and doesn't lose its flavour. And they always toss in a freebie edamame(sp) , spring rolls, never done $100 order but that must get you something super nice. Only place a pinch better for take out would be sushi on bloor and only because their prices are ridiculously low! Ciao for now

Service (1/5): We didn't have a reservation, and we were seated right away, which was nice, but we were seated by the window, which got colder and colder every time someone opened the door. We ordered from the AYCE menu and 50% of the things we ordered didn't come. We inquired about this, and were instructed by our server to re-order the food that we didn't receive. We asked her what happened and she said she didn't know. Clearly there is a communication barrier with some of the staff, but this varies server to server. Also we waited around 40 mins in between when the sushi was served to when the cooked foods arrived. Also, I had to ask several times before receiving the bill. Food (3/5): Most of the food was lovely. The sushi was delicate, and rolled tight. I like the size of the rolled sushi. Smaller than the average sushi restaurant, making it easier to handle and eat. The beef teriyaki was dry and chewy. There was a hair in the green tea ice cream. Ambiance (3/5): The actual restaurant looks beautiful. Very modern feel with dark woods and bamboo accents. There is a peaceful sound of a rock waterfall as you enter the restaurant. The bathroom was atrocious. Very small, smelled of urine, and not well kept. I felt dirtier leaving the bathroom than entering. Overall (2/5): I've been to this place several times because the lack of service I can usually accept for fantastic food, but given the previously mentioned points, I will not return when Kyoto 88 is right down the street.

I ordered the dream platter and aburi Syaki oshi. I wasn't expecting it to be nicely packaged and it was a damn shame we threw them out but I almost felt like I paid for the extra nice packaging only to have it be tossed... but it does make an excellent gift for someone who really loves sushi! I wasn't expecting the gold leaf OR edible flower garnish at all. It was a very cute touch on this very snowy day. The oshi sort of fell apart everytime I picked it up which was a shame because it was nicely charred and sweet from the mango. Bit of a personal peeve but I don't think sushi should fall apart when you pick it up with a chopstick. I think it should stay in tact. Next time I'm gonna order takeout and have it delivered so I can feel like I had a nice package of sushi delivered

The Double Salmon Maki might look basic on paper, but it surprises me on every visit with how good it actually is. The seared butterfish in the Forbidden roll was rich and silky, and the seared scallop in The Fantasy roll was just as satisfying. No notes, just great sushi.

Chicken Karaage was so-so, more like pre-made chicken popcorn than authentic karaage. Shrimp Tempura was good - big shrimps wrapped in the thin, light and crispy batter. They were ok, not very greasy and had the usual veg, but the batter was not like typical tempura batter I though and lacked the airiness and crunch. Next came the 10pc assorted sushi/sashimi. Fish was decent. But the portion size for 2 people was kinda small. 3pc Sushi, 3pc Sashimi and 3 California rolls, in total was not enough for 2 people. Then came the teriyaki beef. The meat was slightly over cooked was and there could have been more of the glaze. Next was grilled Mackerel. It was cooked well I thought. My friend didn't have any because she thought it smelt too fishy. To finish we had the standard ice cream. I chose the red bean and my friend had the green tea. Cost was $60.00 and thought it was overpriced for the amount of food for 2 people. There wasn't enough in the sushi course. Our server was attentive and friendly though, coming to refill our tea frequently. There was nothing too wrong with this place but I wasn't overly impressed either. Tip: You can choose rice or noodles as your base for your teriyaki…read more I have a soft spot for any place that does teriyaki. CF Markville Mall had a mom-and-pop teriyaki place that my parents and I used to frequent well over a decade ago. This business shuttered for good when the old food court got torn down and the fancier one that we know today was built. It was sad to see this business go. We loved their food. The morsels of teriyaki chicken were generous and yummy. For fast food teriyaki, I resorted to Teriyaki Experience after my go-to food court eatery had closed. Markham had two of these franchises. I frequented the Woodbine Avenue location more than the Warden Avenue one, with both on the north side of Highway 7. Markham doesn't have any Teriyaki Experience locations anymore. Bummer. Yesterday, I was at Cineplex Vaughan taking in a movie. Afterwards, I was in need of dinner. I did a search and found this Teriyaki Experience across the street, on the southwest side of Highway 7 and Vaughan. It's at Woodbridge Square, in which Nations Fresh Foods anchors. I had no problem finding this eatery. It's in a corner near Osmow's Shawarma. There was a ton of parking when I got here after 6 pm. I backed into a spot and walked over. There were three Chinese woman working behind the counter. The one that I interacted with was nice and efficient. They all spoke Cantonese to one another. I looked at the menu. I felt like noodles as my base and went with thicker udon noodles. I could have ordered thinner yakisoba noodles if I wanted to. You can also do rice as your base. You have the option of getting steamed white or brown rice. I went with my usual, which is teriyaki chicken. This place also has beef, shrimp, and tofu as your protein choices. I made my teriyaki chicken on noodles a combo. I chose a can of Diet Pepsi as my drink. Another woman went ahead and deep-fried my three spring rolls. I paid with a credit card. I tapped. Done! I was the only customer at this eatery. I found a table facing the TV and draped my jacket over a chair. I then waited patiently for my food. I had already got my Diet Coke from the woman. I got a blue tray and placed my drink on it. I enjoyed watching my food being made and assembled. It didn't take long. I asked for extra teriyaki sauce. I held off on hot sauce. I said yes to sesame seed. The woman handed me my spring rolls, along with napkins, a fork, and plum sauce. I thanked her and headed to my table to eat. The spring rolls were hot out of the fryer. I enjoyed having them with the plum sauce. The spring rolls were veggie and had a decent amount of filling. They were crunchy and yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken teriyaki on noodles. I loved the veggies. I got thinly sliced carrots, bean sprouts, cabbage, and more. I got a generous amount of chicken. The morsels were yummy. I loved the teriyaki sauce. It had a hint of ginger that didn't overpower everything. The noodles were excellent. I got a decent portion. They were delicious. My Diet Pepsi washed everything down. It was cold and hit the spot. I used the washroom before I left. There's a single stall each for women and men. The women's washroom was spacious and clean. It is wheelchair-accessible. I thanked the woman who took my order and cooked my food. She wished me a good day. I reciprocated. This eatery is exceptionally clean. Even the garbage and recycling area was spotless. It's nice that I found a new Teriyaki Experience location to frequent. I'll be back for more good eats! (197)
