We felt that the Thai food was a-okay, I actually found that the pad thai and mango salad were tasty but it did not seem authentic based on the appearance, taste and ingredients they used. We liked the sushi rolls and sashimi! They were good and the sashimi tasted pretty decent. The other appetizers like the sweet and sour chicken tasted quite stale and the breading was more chewy than crunchy. Would we come back? Probably not. Had dinner here with an ex-coworker. We like all you can eat resto's so we decided to check out this place. When we first walked in, i noticed the place had a cool asian inspired look with plently of seating. The Sushi part of the ayce menu was very dissappointing. The rice was over cooked and mushy. So bad that I had to take the fish off the rice to eat. Unfortunately it was the worst much the worst sushi I had in a while. Very dissapointing. The non-Japanese food we had was actaully pretty good. We ordered, wings, short beef rib, tempura, coconut shrimp, beef pad thai. My favourite was the thick curry tiger shrimp and the curry pumpkin soup (they kinda tasted the same), but both very tasty. I will say the service was very good. Servers were friendly and attentive. Although, they still did they old school took orders by hand, rather than with iPads like other restaurants, which didn't seem efficient. read more

I visited here for a baby shower recently this weekend. It's a central spot smack in the middle of GTA between highway 407 and 400 next to the Costco with a gas station. It's a perfect place for a large gathering especially if you have people coming west, east, south and maybe even out of town as there is plenty of parking. The place is spacious, modern and uncrowded so you can easily set up a spot for a balloon arch. The service is also really nice and friendly. I've been to the Colossus area many times before but never thought to stop by at this restaurant. I didn't even know they have an option for all you can eat until I visited recently. For All-You-Can-Eat weekend lunch it was about $30~ according to their site, which is really reasonable considering prices these days. It included sushi and sashimi and it was pretty fresh and some kitchen items too. Their cooked dishes for AYCE is kinda big so I didn't get to try as many things. However, from the few I've tried including nibbling their sample appetizers, tempura and other items it's pretty good. If you want to be adventurous, they even have escargot too! The escargot was buttery and not too salty. The Pad Thai is a more Canadian/Americanized version with a bit of tang from the ketchup but still tasty regardless. The staff was nice and friendly and we didn't really feel rushed out as it didn't seem too busy. We booked from 1-3:30pm/4pm. I think it's a great spot to host your special gathering and also allow your guests to choose whatever they want to eat. The only thing is they punch all your orders for you on the ipad and we don't get to punch it in ourselves. I feel like the physical menu they showed us for all you can eat is much more limited than what we can actually order. So definitely ask your server and see what else there is. For example there wasn't any dessert menu so you have to ask about all the desserts. They will offer ice cream by default but definitely recommend getting a fried banana and sesame ball with it. read more

Atrocious customer service. The fact that we went for lunch and the restaurant was empty says everything. Only 2 other tables seated. I wasn't hungry and only wanted to order pineapple rice, but my other 2 guests wanted all you can eat. The restaurant said I was forced to order that as well if they were having it. I did not want to pay 30 dollars when I only wanted rice. I somewhat understand they might be doing this to prevent food sharing, however, I offered to sit by myself. Having said this, the place was bare and it would have been extremely obvious if we were trying to scam (although that assumption itself is an incredible insult). At the end of the day, they lost our business today, and permanently. We walked out, they lost 2 all-you-can-eat customers and a 3rd independent order based on their unwillingness to be reasonable. Many better restaurants directly around this one, so it was an easy decision to leave. On that note, I have been to many restaurants that offer all-you-can-eat in addition to a la carte and have never ever been forced to eat one over the other based on the people I attend with and their choices. These places were all higher class though and not struggling for business. If this place had any business sense, they would also recognize people pay a lot more for a la carte. read more

Parking is ample. The restaurant has a wonderful ambiance and serves both all you can eat and a la carte. Today I went to try their a la carte menu at 11.99 a plate. Half the menu is crossed out but there is still a good variety of Thai and Japanese options. Bangkok pad Thai - tasted like ketchup. Good amounts of chicken and tofu, but extremely salty and sweet. Basil beef - I don't actually know what the difference is between black pepper beef and basil beef. There is good amounts of meat and the rice comes in a bowl, slightly wetter and softer than expected. Very salty as well. Overall, looking at the other people's tables, the Japanese buffet options looked alright. However the dishes I've had were mediocre at best. read more

Just a brief review as we did not eat much here. Decided to try this restaurant for dinner as we had not eaten there in a few years. The was previously Asian fusion resto 'Spoon and Fork' a,d the interior decor looked familiar. The Good: First impression was that the place was well-run. The glass entrance and large windows looked so clean they literally sparkled! Ambience and decor were tasteful - white tablecloths in the main dining room and wood hi-top tables (without table cloths) in the bar area. The maitre-d offered us the choice of all-you-can-eat or a-la-carte and we opted for a-la-carte. Although the place was busy the waiter took our drink and food orders promptly and the selection arrived nicely plated in a 17" Japanese-style round wood platter. The Not-so-good: 90% of the nigiri sushi and maki were refrigerator-cold on the platter and the rice kernels had a dry crust. I have enjoyed sushi in dozens of restaurants around the world and I expected that the food would be prepared a-la-carte in this upscale resto with upscale pricing... i.e. made to order, rather than plonking sushi and maki that had obviously been prepared hours before then refrigerated. So... disappointing. We ate about half of it but left quickly. Big bill for supermarket-quality sushi. IMHO cold, raw fish with cold, dry rice are a far cry from a-la-carte sushi. 2 stars because although our food was iffy, I didn't check out the AYCE selections - that may be the better way to go. read more

Fairly large establishment with different types of seating (booths, high table tops, bar, more intimate seating etc). The washrooms were really clean. The music was a little interesting, hard rock (it didn't really go with the ambiance) but I did not mind. Service: impeccable, the servers were very attentive. The food was brought out quickly. (Stage 3 of the province of Ontario reopening) This place has always had a patio, so this isn't a patio that was built during COVID and for COVID. I give credit where credit is due and it seems like customer service has improved a little. We requested a table for four for a little more room. They said they wouldn't accommodate this request, as they can't on that day. However, there were quite a few empty tables from the time we arrived to the time we left. Customer service may have improved a little (this is also possibly because traffic may be down due to COVID, so with less people, they're able to concentrate better). However, towards the end of the meal (keep reading to find out what happened) and food quality with respect to sashimi and sushi rolls has declined a lot. AYCE sushi still available. Temperature check before seating, signs requiring masks are put up on the front door. I've always wondered why there is an accessibility button on the inside but not the outside. Would be nice to see one on the outside for folks who require it. -1 star, folks should be treated equally. I've noticed this before but always forgot to put it in my reviews. Menus are in between glass on the table. Salmon sashimi wasn't fresh at all, seaweed salad tasted about the same, too much dressing (as I've noted in previous reviews of this place). Oil fish sashimi was average. Beef was undercooked very bad, unable to eat it. Service was okay, when I was running out of water and needed a refill, someone did come by and refill it. All the fried stuff tasted the same, nothing new there. Edamame wasn't too bad, calamari was a little too chewy, rolls had extremely little to no salmon, overall the variety hasn't really changed but the quality definitely took a bit of a toll but during COVID. Other AYCE restaurants have much better quality for the time being. Was a regular pre-COVID and was given a VIP card. Gave my VIP card to the server, unfortunately she didn't know what it was. Took a while to get the bill (15 mins to half an hour, which is unacceptable) and they wanted to take my VIP card away (sort of like a coupon, I think) but I told them usually I show it and it's not a one time use kinda thing. Server looked visibly upset after asking management whether to take it or not and angrily put our VIP card on the table without saying anything before we left. Extremely disappointed considering we've spent quite a bit there over the past decade, not only has the quality of food declined significantly (see RECENT pictures) but we're told our loyalty isn't worth anything anymore to the restaurant. This upset us but our experience definitely didn't leave us wanting to come back anyways. Even with a generous tip, after the server was pissed off about the card, the server didn't say anything as we left. - Missed the ball in a quite a few places, there's still A HELL OF A LOT to improve on. - Food quality has SIGNIFICANTLY DECLINED. - Customer service has improved a little bit. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the previous time at this restaurant so much, we decided to come again on family day. (check previous review) They were not too busy, it took a while for us to get seated. Other people were confused as well. They followed the waiter and the waiter said he wasn't ready for them yet. Service was not that great this time around, we received things very slowly, had to remind the servers many times that there were things missing. I think they were understaffed. The food tasted the same as usual. The salmon sashimi was fresh, the edamame was average, it didn't taste as fresh and did not come with a side cup to put the shells in. No vanilla ice cream or cheesecake which was upsetting. Much better the last time when Ben was serving us personally, but he can't be there to serve us every time. read more

It has been a LONG time since we had a sit down dinner. The "old" spoons and fork did not disappoint. They followed the "covid rules" including masks, hand sterilizer and lots of spacing between tables. The staff was very careful in following rules too. For example we asked our server to take a picture and she went to wash her hands first! The food was quite good and no real disappointments with their all you can eat menu. One beef was a few items never made it and system restricted the quantity of dishes we were able to order at once (but our server tried her best to remember to reorder). For example, we wanted to order 8 of one item (with 8 people in our table but the system only allowed 5). One bonus is that ice cream is included now unlike before. And there is soft ice cream too! Sorry did not take any pics since I have not "kicked into gear" with my pics and reviews yet. The focus was just enjoying eating out again! Very fast service when you order but everything is premade even sushi rolls. Literally 30 seconds after ordering Dragon rolls, I had it brought to table. Food with bamboo shoots were rancid, and padthai tasted like ketchup. Great atmosphere but the price tag reflects it. Can get better freshly made food for less from near by AYCE places. read more

I think this is the most expensive AYCE I've visited. But is it worth $31 per person with no beverages of any kind (other than water)? The list of items is fairly common, with some Japanese, Chinese and Thai. But the ordering is a process breakdown. Normally you would order off of an iPad--in this case, the server held the iPad and I struggled to blurt out an order to keep her from getting impatient. As a result, instead of a Wonton Soup, I received an order of Deep Fried Wonton and a Miso Soup (very watery). Eliminate a step and improved order accuracy will result. All of the dishes were extremes in flavour: either sickly sweet, too salty or flavourless. The sushi was unexpected. The cuts were fairly thick, better than most AYCE joints. They also have sashimi on the menu. However, the salmon had an odd taste, a bit on the fishy side. That is unusual for good sushi and left me disappointed. I didn't get past one order. Not worth the price unless you stick exclusively to proteins and eat like a horse. read more

This was my first choice since restaurants were opening up and it was exciting to have an AYCE option available especially during social distancing being limited to food options because lets face it take out it not the same. -They take your temperature prior to you entering the dining area which is great. -tables are nicely setup and properly spaced out. Menus are underneath the table which i like versus some restaurants use paper disposable menus. -service is quite fast and efficient -food was okay, there was nothing that wow'd be. Just finishing up lunch here at Sparkly. We did the tasting menu. I don't see a difference from prior restaurant Spoon and Fork- other than the name. Waiters were very attentive and food was good. Our main waiter Sam was especially friendly! Very kind and a very mindful person. I particularly enjoyed the spicy tuna hand roll and the miso/lemongrass soup was terrific. This is one of my most favourite spots!!! I've been here like 10 times! I always bring my friends here too. Super nice, such a nice viibe place for date or just grab all you can eat!! The place was busy because it was saturday night, but she always went around her section and made sure her tables were tended to. The sushi was good as usual (Spoon and fork) since they told me they just change the name, but menu, price, kitchen staffs and management team still the same. The beef and salmon teriyaki were better than other times I have been here. Food came fast even the place is packed during a weekend. for the people complaining food took too long (average 5-10mins) I don't know what are you thinking, maybe you compare with food court. This place is a really good place for lunch or dinner. they server showed me a new lunch combo menu that almost everything is just $11.99, that's even a better deal than a burger combo, lol! My friend said It's a bit upscale for an AYCE place. I am trying to give 4.5 but there is no option for that. Will I be back? Absolutely. I have been here before when it was Spoon and Fork, though, under the new management I can only say the food is so bad. The meat was horrible in more ways than I can say. Chewing it for an hour and I will be digesting it for a month. The steamed rice seems like it is held together by the cheapest sea weed wrapper. Chicken has spend less time on the grill than a white guy in the sun. Tempura shrimp was totally decent but if they messed that up I would turn to a religion of meditation as I would snap otherwise. Service was ok but doesn't make up for the possible salmonella poisoning I will get from just looking at this chicken. My advice... stay away. read more

We had one of the worst experiences with this restaurant today. We called them first to verify a few things such as the AYCE weekend lunch price and any special discount for a birthday person etc. They advised the birthday person would get 50% discount after ID verification. After we went there, the waitress, also mentioned in addition to 50% discount, the birthday person gets a free piece of cheesecake as dessert. At the end, a small portion of a cheesecake with a candle was brought to our table and after happy birthday wish, she left. She came back within a few seconds and said: "Sorry, I am fairly new here, my manager just told me that you can get either 50% discount or the small piece of cheesecake but not both". We asked for more clarification, and ended up returning the piece of cheesecake to go to the garbage can! We were stunned of how they treated us and even if it was a mistake of the poor waitress, in my opinion the situation was extremely poorly handled. The manager knew that the cheesecake was already brought and left on our table but he still asked us to pay for it (which we never asked for it) or return it!!!!!! Yes, you read it right!! We gave a good amount of tip at the end because we felt really bad for the waitress. Stay away from this place as they have no respect to their customers and do not treat them as human being! I would never recommend this place to anyone as this bad experience could have happened to anyone of you who read this. read more

The moment entering into this room, the short guy with a ponytail in the front desk drawing a long face towards us like we own him money , which has already made us feel uncomfortable, though we were still being nice and polite, maybe he was tired after a day's work, however we found this guy was nice and smiling to other people, then we realized that this guy was only nice to none Asian guests, though he himself is also Asian. 2.when we called for help for 1st time, staff around have heard us including this short ponytail guy, but he chose to ignore us. Then we were sitting outside of the room, the short ponytail guy guided us to a table without any chopsticks, knives or forks. And the table was shaking all the time. He guided us there and left immediately, like escaping. 3. The food offered without chopsticks but only food. We felt even more uncomfortable, and at that moment we just wanted to leave immediately, we regretted for have come to this place already. This experience was totally uncomfortable and we were feeling we are not welcome in this place. We drove a long way to particularly come here with a happy mood but left with only disappointment and discrimination from another Asian guy.
