Perhaps other stylists are fantastic, but I did not have a good experience with Alessio. Maybe his personality, or maybe was having a bad day the last few times I went. But he seemed very short with me, and uninterested in my hairstyle photos. And rather wanted to do what he wanted to do. I ended up with a big piece of hair cut short on one side, and excessive layers that I have spent months growing out. It's been painful. My new stylist even noticed it all and had to correct. I always try to give people grace because you don't know what they're going through. He might've just been going through a bad time. But that would've spanned several months worth from several of my appointments. My first impression was that he's burned out on his job. Not sure if others have had the same experience as I did, but thought I should say something. read more

I cant even begin to tell you how happy I am. I got my hair cut by Carmelo the owner. He took his time and gave me such a great cut! I donate my hair every 1-3 years. And i decided to go for. Major cut this time. All together i cut off 23" and was able to donate 18" of hair. This salon is beautifully kept and very clean. They really listened to me, and gave me a cut that makes me feel beautiful. I will for sure be returning in the future for another cut and maybe a styling. Usually a good experience here but today really drove me away. It's my first anniversary and I bought myself and my girlfriend here. I called in advance and told them what kind of appointments to make. I came 4 minutes late but they took another 20 min to call us back. Five minutes into the stylist told us that there's not enough time to cut and style the hair. Fast forward 3 hours later and she leaves the salon looking like a mess. Spoke with the owner and he was writing down times of how long things take on a piece of paper when i was telling him that I have an Uber outside waiting for me and you guys messed it up and I have a dinner to get to. My girlfriend had left already to go to a nail salon. They offered to fix it but with how slow they are she didn't have time. Long story short- reception people didn't do their job right and the manager wasn't understanding Update: had a previous employee let me know that they are not gay friendly. They made me sound stupid by thinking I don't know what services I asked for. Horrible place, neither of us were happy when we left. NOT GAY FRIENDLY!!! Do not waste your money here. I am so thankful and happy about getting my hair cut here at Gioia Hairdressing! I honestly, in my 27 years of life, have never been to a real salon, but I decided to try it out because I had a specific style I wanted to try. I am really impressed how professional, passionate, friendly, and all around great guy Carmelo is. I can confidently say that I won't be getting my hair cut anywhere else now, he is really that great. It was very clean inside the salon and everyone had a smile on their faces, you can tell they all love their work. It shows and makes a first time customer like me feel at home. I was referred by a friend with enviable hair to go to Alessio - and can attest to his skill and talent as a hairdresser. As I came online to write a review of praise - I read the single negative review below and was shocked. I am sorry the reviewer wasn't happy with her haircut - but I can tell you... Alessio would never blatantly create a shape or style someone asked him not to. I have very curly hair, and he has been the one stylist over all these years that has been able to shape it beautifully every time. Do not go here! I went in asking for a long bob hair cut and my hair was chopped off! There were holes and pieces around my face that were 2 inches. The hair dresser blew it out and the severity badly she cut my hair was disguised. I was very upset with how short it was and got eye rolls from the staff and was told it "looked great"! First time visiting Gioia. Scheduling was easy. Once I walked in I was greeted and waited for Carmelo to see me. The staff was super friendly making sure I was helped while I waited for a couple of minutes. Carmelo is super customer oriented, he asked what I wanted and cut away. I was blown away by how great he cut my hair. My old hair dresser moved away, I tried another salon and was just not impressed at all but this place made me feel great all over again. I can't wait to go back! Try them, you won't regret it. They really do care about your hair and what you want. I've read reviews of other salons and how stylists tend to not be friendly but Carmelo's easy going and friendly attitude is exactly what I love! I can stop searching for hair dressers now. I had been extremely happy with Alyessio at Gioia Salon for the past few years until the last time I went in-- he severely thinned my hair and cut it short when I specifically asked him not to. I checked in with him during the haircut to ensure he was not thinning or cutting it short and he reassured me that he would not do so without my consent (his exact words), yet he proceeded to do just that. So odd. My hair is EXTREMELY thin now. Also, the hair on my right side was cut 3 inches shorter than my left side-- ridiculous. I called the salon the next day to speak with Alyessio but he never returned my phone call. I called back a month later and relayed the message to the person at the front desk that I was very disappointed. The length may take 6 months-1 year to grow back but the thickness will take up to 2 years (that's a long time). I've never written a review on yelp before, but I felt the need to b/c I don't want anyone to experience what I did. I was a valued customer until now and would advise anyone else to be careful. I went to Gioia salon with a gift card won at a golf tournament, I usually only go to Aveda Salons, but I thought "hey change is good!". My first impression was great! Receptionist and the lady who washed my hair were sweet! I was happy with my style at first, but after the curls had gone down I noticed huge variations in the layers. Almost as if I had a Mullet. I called to have it fixed, I was came in early the next day, to the original stylist who said my hairstyle was great! They washed my hair and the hairdresser cut my hair 1/2 inch in length, offered to but product in my hair and that was it! When I asked if she was going to dry my hair I was rudely replied with "this is only a cut". When I got home and dried my hair MYSELF, again layers were visible! Customer service is a HUGE part of business! Hairdressers are people too and I understand that people make mistakes. Own it and do your best to make it right!! read more

I have been coming to this solon for many years and should have already done a review. This solon and the people who own it and the people who work in it are all awesome. Always helpful and always accommodating and also aware they must balance one customer's accommodation with the next clients rights to begin their appointment on time. During the shelter in place at their own expense they mixed our color and gave it to us to use at home-- something not offered by my friends solons. Claudio cuts my hair and Christina does my color. Both are excellent and I would highly recommend them. Daniella has also done my color and she is exceptional as well. I have been to the solon since reopening and they are taking all the precautions to keep clients safe and healthy. If you are looking for a great solon try this one. read more
