My Overall Rating - 2 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Open, clean, & industrial. It's a large space with plenty of tables, chairs, & even flat screens. It's more like a sports bar than a hidden hole in the wall taco joint. Very little here that resembles Mexico. But it's not a bad atmosphere - it just lacks one. 1/2 Stars. Service - The counter service is fast - especially during lunch. We lined up, looked at the menu, placed our order when we were up. Food came out later. This is a very practical formula for this type of restaurant. They were fast & efficient. 1 Star. Food - The menu is pretty large & includes items such as gourmet items that run $4+. I stuck to the basic street tacos which were much cheaper. I went with a barbacoa, chicken, & ground beef. The chicken was the best with good flavor and tenderness. The barbacoa was a letdown - my pork was a bit tough & dried. Finally, the beef taco was a little bland & forgettable. Now, the small white corn tortillas were delicious. I just didn't think the contents it was holding was as good. Overall my meal for 3 tacos was about $10. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Only if someone else was driving. The quality of the tortilla & fresh cilantro/salsa was nice, but not enough to really love. My friend said "It's hourly food made by hourly workers." His words, not mine, but it does describe it well. The name & concept are great. Everything else is average. 1/2 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five-star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. After visiting this location five or six times, the service and food are constant and enjoyable. There are many Taco shops in the DFW area, but this has been a great experience. Make sure you grab a few sauces from the bar area to try with your food. My office is relocating to this area in the near future and this will be a go to spot. The bar area is not open yet, but indications is it will open soon. Make sure you stop by and try them out. 9 and 11 are two of my favorite tacos. I have been looking forward to go here ever since I first noticed it driving by. When I walked in, the room was bright and open because of the abundance of windows. The decor was modern and there were outlets at each booth. They have an extensive menu. Everything I got was really good but the K-pop was the best. I did think the tortillas were kind of thin, but it was still good. They also have so many hot sauces to chose from. The staff was really friendly and helpful. It's always good to encounter a group of employees that don't hate their job and the fact that they are serving people. I like the music that was playing. It went with they gypsy theme. And the habenero hot sauce made them taste even better. They should sell it by the bottle. Noteworthy: -The ingredients are fresh. Lots of different hot sauces to choose from. Recently tried their burger and that was surprisingly good as well. They have recently added some cool photo op type features that seem like stuff you see on Instagram. Since I moved to Houston I haven't had a chance to come to Gypsy Lime Taco Lounge in a while. Always has been my go-to for gourmet tacos. I've noticed a few changes to the menu which I think are excellent. Lots of Street taco options for people who want a straightforward taco. But why not go gourmet! The exotic gourmet auctions are just awesome. The Texas Ranger has always been one of my favorites but I have noticed some other offerings that reach to Korean, Indian, Asian and other cuisine regions. So many choices! I am back on Weight Watchers at the first of the year so I was looking for exotic options that would comply a bit with my dietary needs. My choices were Bayou Po-Boy and the ever favorite Gypsy Steak. OK, I'll eat skinny at dinner. Everything is made fresh with great ingredients. You can really taste the quality. The coolest thing about the gourmet tacos is incredible pairing of different flavors. For instance I'm not normally a big fan of radish but the Gypsy Steak has just the right amount of flavor for a delicious balance. The avocado and radish actually make it a taste sensation. There are at least 5 salsa options from mild to habanero wild. They have a bar and it's a great place for happy hours. Lots of local brews to meet your craft beer drinkers taste. Also mixed drinks and margaritas are as well as bottled domestic and import beers. That makes Happy Hour a great time to come back and not just eat here for lunch! Used to really love this place. Even thou the name is mispelled. Lol. The food is really fresh. Problem is you dont get what you order. Anytime I ordered delivery, they bring the wrong items. Or there is missing items. If you get your food at all. I've called and the staff argues with me that they delieved to me when they delievered to wrong address or that there are missing items or wrong items. They are also very stingy with giving you extra salsas. I barely get enough for my tacos. Even when I order extra and offer to pay for them. You won't get them. I've even gone to the restaurant and placed my order in person to go. They still get it wrong even thou they had 8 people working in the kitchen and hardly any customers. Maybe that's their problem. The first thing you will notice here is the sticker shock. For example, my $20.00 lunch consisted of 4 Street Tacos, a small cup of Queso & Chips, and a soda. The queso was pretty decent, but the chips were oversalted. My four tacos consisted of a Chicken Fajita Taco, a Shrimp Taco, a Picadillo Taco, and a Bistec Taco. This is my 3rd visit here and I'm always happy with the food, the cleanliness of the establishment and the employees. I ordered a black bean taco, a veggie taco and one with pork and pineapple all on corn. At other restaurants, I have had problems with getting my tacos on a corn tortilla (I'm gluten intolerant so no flour for me). The wait time... perfect. You can tell they make it to order because the food doesn't come out in 2 minutes but it doesn't take 10 minutes either. I cannot remember the name of the lady who helped me but she has black hair and so was in there at about 11:15 am on 10/31/2017 & she had a nice clean fresh appearance which makes the business look good. We haven't found a fantastic taco place in a while so this was great. We had 10 different types of tacos, guacamole, dirty corn, Spanish rice and happy hour beer and margaritas.
