Empanadas- one beef, one ham, one shrimp, and one chicken.
    Mike G.

I arrived during a slow period on Sunday between lunch and dinner. I wanted to try one of their $8 souvenir margaritas but I knew if I started down that road I'd never get anything done Sunday evening so I settled for a Coke. The server suggested trying the empanadas, so I opted for the four count with one of each "flavor". The food was delivered hot- a good sign! The crust on the empanadas reminded me of cornbread, but not as sweet. I liked the chicken best, followed by the shrimp. The aji picante was very mild and tasted fresh. There is a small stage in the corner, and the owners are booking entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. They do accept reservations for some events, so you should call ahead if you want to guarantee a seat for a particular entertainer. They also have a happy hour and drink specials, which I will have to try on my next visit! Disclaimer- the server is an old friend, and I spent many hours here when it was Johnny G's so I'm a bit partial to the place.

    Margarita specials!

Love this cozy bar! Always have good food and drink specials. The staff is attentive and nice.

So, I found his little gem by luck on yelp while searching for Colombian restaurants. It was really neat because they were conveniently closer to home and I liked that a lot. The decor is nice once inside, you have TVs, a bar. Everything necessary for a nice dining experience, or you can take out. The menu was looking pretttttttyyyy good. I was craving plátano frito (fried plantains) but I opted for the bandeja paisa, which was why I really came. I received my meal in a timely fashion, not to mention the bartender was awesome! I was excited for my meal when it came but....it did not live up to my expectations. I thought I'd get steak, but got ground beef :( , the rice was not home made (cooked in a bag maybe?), the arepa was ok but different texture, the sausage was just ham sliced in halves, the fried egg was good, the whole half of an avocado was a plus, the beans were good, the chicharrón was really good. Some cons with the dish, some pros, however the biggest upset was that this plate cost $21, with no steak. Definitely not the best bandeja paisa I've ever had, but it is the most expensive one I've ever paid for :/. I would have given them more stars, however the bandeja paisa they have on yelp AND their website vs the one I actually got, were completely off. Bad advertising. Other then that, the vibe and the owners/employees are all great people, and I'm sure this place has other great meals to try but definitely won't be getting the bandeja paisa next time, maybe I'll try the hot stone steak. That does look tempting.

The Colombian food is meh. Overdone & bland. Very expensive compared to other Colombian restaurants. Come for the beer, not the food.

This was a pleasant experience and certainly fun during the World Cup soccer. Good food and service with a relaxing atmosphere.

I enjoyed the grilled salmon with chimichurri sauce, cooked perfectly.

I came in for lunch and ordered the jerk chicken lunch special with beans and rice and a side salad. The chicken was incredibly tender--fall-apart, melt-in-your-mouth good--and packed with flavor. Fair warning, it definitely brings the heat! It's on the spicy side, but in the best way possible. Absolutely delicious. The atmosphere adds to the whole experience. There was lively music playing, colorful decor throughout, and a beautiful Jamaican beach mural that makes you feel like you've stepped out of Texas for a minute. And of course, you'll spot Bob Marley on the walls, which just feels right. My server mentioned they've been around for about 15 years, and you can tell--it's a solid, well-loved local spot. Great food, fun vibe, and a place I'll definitely be coming back to.

Their jerk sauce is a little on the spicier side and sweeter than the ones we're used to in CA, but I guess every caribbean spot has their own take on the jerk sauce. I always get the jerk chicken with saffron rice and steamed spinach. Their chicken is super consistent and always juicy, which I appreciate. We bring everyone we know to this spot and they all have a great time. Their drinks are made pretty strong and there are a 2 limit drink per person for some. We definitely recommend this place! Shout out to SASHA! We've known her for 2.5 years because the first time we came here was 2.5 years ago! She is the best waitress and very attentive. We love her!
