I went there tonight for the first time. It was great. What impressed me the most though was that there was karaoke. I have epilepsy and flashing lights are a trigger for me. We explained and they were amazing about it. They turned the flashing lights off while I was there because they were concerned about my safety- in 21 years I've never had any business do that before. I arrived during a slow period on Sunday between lunch and dinner. I wanted to try one of their $8 souvenir margaritas but I knew if I started down that road I'd never get anything done Sunday evening so I settled for a Coke. The server suggested trying the empanadas, so I opted for the four count with one of each "flavor". The food was delivered hot- a good sign! The crust on the empanadas reminded me of cornbread, but not as sweet. I liked the chicken best, followed by the shrimp. The aji picante was very mild and tasted fresh. There is a small stage in the corner, and the owners are booking entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. They do accept reservations for some events, so you should call ahead if you want to guarantee a seat for a particular entertainer. They also have a happy hour and drink specials, which I will have to try on my next visit! So, I found his little gem by luck on yelp while searching for Colombian restaurants. It was really neat because they were conveniently closer to home and I liked that a lot. The decor is nice once inside, you have TVs, a bar. Everything necessary for a nice dining experience, or you can take out. The menu was looking pretttttttyyyy good. I was craving plátano frito (fried plantains) but I opted for the bandeja paisa, which was why I really came. I received my meal in a timely fashion, not to mention the bartender was awesome! I was excited for my meal when it came but....it did not live up to my expectations. I thought I'd get steak, but got ground beef :( , the rice was not home made (cooked in a bag maybe?), the arepa was ok but different texture, the sausage was just ham sliced in halves, the fried egg was good, the whole half of an avocado was a plus, the beans were good, the chicharrón was really good. Some cons with the dish, some pros, however the biggest upset was that this plate cost $21, with no steak. Definitely not the best bandeja paisa I've ever had, but it is the most expensive one I've ever paid for :/. I would have given them more stars, however the bandeja paisa they have on yelp AND their website vs the one I actually got, were completely off. Bad advertising. Other then that, the vibe and the owners/employees are all great people, and I'm sure this place has other great meals to try but definitely won't be getting the bandeja paisa next time, maybe I'll try the hot stone steak. I just was introduced to this establishment by my brother and his wife. I am a transplant to Texas and am very new to everything. The owner Sandra and her husband are the sweetest people! They were very welcoming and lovely. The food was amazing! I had buffalo wings the first time and a salad on my second visit. The staff is friendly and attentive. We used to frequent this place when it was Amy Renee's. Apparently we didn't go enough because they changed, but it's close by and the menu looked fantastic here on Yelp. Unfortunately for the staff, they can't seem to recreate it. The Fajita Chicken was like eating a piece of hardened mud. It was overcooked and absolutely flavorless, as was just about everything. Can you imagine a shrimp with a sliver of onion wrapped in jalapeno wrapped in bacon being flavorless? Neither could I, but they figured out how to make that happen. I think they misunderstood the snapper was the name of the fish, not how the fish should react once cooked. It was way overcooked to the point of "snapping" when i tried to cut it. Again, flavorless. The yucca root, flavorless. The fried plantains , flavorless. They had this "must try" strawberry beer drink. Undrinkable. Nasty and disgusting. Four of us ordered four different meals and all were overcooked and flavorless. For the price, not worth it at all. So that's the food, let's move on to the atmosphere. They have about 800-1000 square feet and have a band that plays so loud they must think they are in a 1000 person auditorium, and they weren't even really good. The servers just stood around and talked with each other. I was never offered a second beer or anything else to drink. I could go on about both the food and the service, but what's the point? I won't go back and don't recommend you waste your time. QuickTrip sandwiches down the street are better and some guy with a mic won't be screaming at you. She also could not make change properly. They also have a dessert menu but never seem to have the few items on it that I wanted and I was in almost every Sunday for several months. And the desserts are just bought frozen and then thawed so nothing to get excited about. Not super knowledgeable about Columbia's food but I found the rice that came with the fajitas to be very bland to the point of tasteless. Great food, atmosphere and service! Went for the 1st time this past Sunday with my husband and we both fell in love with this place. We ordered the fried plantains to start and them came with the best chimichurri sauce I have ever had. The plantains were freshly made to order, came out hot, crispy and fried to perfection. Then we shared a Fritanga, it was just as good, the chicharones were nice and crispy with some of the meat still on them, the sausages weren't dry like some places and the pork ribs were flavorful. Rusty Anchor has been such a fun place to come to on weekends and even during the week. The food is amazing. I have not had one thing that I haven't liked. Their empanadas are to die for. I have made it a point to try as much as I can on their menu. I also tried the steak that you can cook on the hot stone. Not only was that a fun experience, but it was so tender and delicious. The staff is so sweet, remembers drinks, and the owners are so personable. If you want a place on a weekend to listen to music, eat some great food, and drink an ice cold beer, this is the place you need to come to. read more

We arrived about 3:50 and were told they had a private rental at 6:30, so we thought oh no problem plenty of time to eat and leave. WRONG!! When we walked in we were the ONLY people there, no other customers! It may have been about 4:10 when we ordered. We left at 5:30 and people in our party STILL had not received their food - or only 1/2 of the order had been brought! Some members of our party left around 5:00, and never received their chips and salsa! REALLY, how difficult is that to serve???? We had 4 small children who never received their food, including tortillas and French fries - again how difficult is that? I was super embarrassed of having suggested this place to our friends! Some ended up having to cancel their order at 5:30, because they (especially their children) were hungry and tired of waiting! While I wasn't blown away by any of the food on top of them being out of various items and the service being extremely slow , the owner did her best to make it a good night. The owners were very accommodating and very nice , even giving us some frozen desserts to take with us . We were one of the first customers in there and were completely over looked by the waitress. She took our drink order, had to flag her down to get the food order in and waited forever to get any of it. We finally had to flag someone down to get something for our 5 year old to eat. We seriously waited about an hour while others after us got their food. Tried again this week only because nothing else was open in the area. The waitress said to make sure we wanted to be there because it would get loud. OK? We stay in the dining area, had to ask for the scan thing for the menu. Had to call her back to order. Not only did our food come out in backwards order, dinner, salad, appetizers. Calamari was half burnt. Oil must not have been changed. After tracking down finally got the 4th dinner. Tacos that were basically fried ground beef with topping. Bacon wrapped shrimp was bacon wrapped jalapenos, the shrimp were minute. We should have known better. I could have just ripped up $100.00.
