The process is simple and expectations are clear, there is a designated pick up time and place - they expect you to come in and pick up your items. On pick up day my baby granddaughter was sick. I sent Girlfriends an email explaining I was on grandma duty and asked if they could bring the items to my car - a service they politely but clearly exclude in their on line contract. They respond to my email right away, they offered to bring the stuff out to my car AND an alternative pick up time to assure we did not have to wait. Baby girl slept thru the whole process. Website bidding functionality failure I am writing this review based on an auction that listed me as the high bidder then the winning bidder. These auctions are set up that anyone outbid in the last five minutes kicks the auction time to five minutes to allow other bidders a chance to continue bidding. The whole of the last five minutes after I was listed as the high bidder never indicated that I was not top bidder. At the end of the auction the item listed me as winning bidder. The next day I double checked my won auctions and did not see the item listed. I saw no charges on my card. So oI reached out thinking maybe there was a delay. Apparently there was another bidder who had the same bid amount as me. According to the support team since their bid was first, they won. Regardless of what notifications I had on my screen. No apology no oops application error. This makes my bidding with confidence, well much less confident. I have no idea what the other bidder saw on their end only what I saw. I am frankly very upset. If I had known I most likely would have upped my bid but I led to believed I was the high bid winner. Even now when I look up items I have bid on this item shows high bidder in green text meaning the winning bid rather than red which means outbid. I was basically told to take it up with Auction Ninja which is the company that this auction house uses to sell their items. What is the definition of buyers remorse? "When you buy something after conversing with a seller and receiving something not as described?" ... oh wait that's called fraud. I would've been happy with a 25-30 lbs horse statue, I would've been happy with a 12 lb horse statue, I am not happy with a 9 lb horse statue! You set a floor for the value of this statue in its precious metals and I set a bid accordingly (apparently you have no idea how absentee bidding works). The fact it is art does not change laws around precious metal items, markings of purity and weights when you list it as sterling. Someone else bid right up to my maximum bid and stopped .... I cannot retract a bid, but why would I when you give me false info on weight? You clearly have no concept of logic and don't even know the (set your max bid) auction works. It is your responsibility to provide accurate information! This is the ONLY responsibility here and you failed How did you weigh the handles? Did you pull them off? I specifically asked about this before bidding too, so your attempt at writing me off as not knowing is laughable, and the answer was a vague " the full sterling items, the knives have stainless". The answer is you cannot weigh the knives ... and it is rather peculiar to have such a value when you didn't think it was possible to estimate the sterling in a statue given weight and dimensions. You think that sending me a picture of the value of pure silver in the entirety of the weight of the actual statue (with weighted base) had any bearing in reality (after spot went up over $1)? A 9 lb sterling on a 4.5 lb granite base does not have 9 lb of sterling, and definitely not 9 lb of pure silver. Furthermore spot had risen $1 between receiving and that date. If such a statement were even true, why wouldn't you take a return to make your "killing" on the piece and keep a customer happy. Is this seriously your business area as this is just my hobby and you seem to know less ... why would anyone want you selling their items when you don't understand such simple concepts? You complained to me about how unfair I was for leaving a review, stating all of these points, also known as the truth, and then pressured them to remove the review. Probably would've left things alone had you not decided to text me about how unfair I am and go on with the worst attempt at a logic lesson I've ever had (no one cares if you offer to deliver when you defraud them, pictures of the value of something else dont matter when you defraud, and no one cares if you've had good transactions when you defraud). You love in a world of consequences for actions Beck y, and you took an action to over state the weight and thus value of this item and I am happy to let the world know you are not only dishonest, you are delusional! Notice differences, I am stating stuff that actually happened and you are simply presuming what I think all the time. Was not going to scrap the piece, but its value is derived largely from the precious metal, just as jewelry would be! Would you lie about the weight of a gold jewelry item, because its the same thing! This is a long overdue review on an estate sale service that we used a few years ago. It reflects our subjective experience. This review, and all reviews, are subjective to individual experience. This may or may not be similar to an experience others had or will have. Used this estate sale service a few years ago. Would not again. First of all, we felt this so-called 'fair' business was anything but, to the seller. As we had acquired a good number of exceptional antique furniture and collectibles (being in the antique business), we were assured there would be no deals or discounts made until the 2nd day. Not so. From what we could tell, favored buyers (dealers) were called ahead of time and apprised of what they might be interested in, and price. We were told it would be best not to be present. Well, we were. Within the first two hours items were dramatically discounted and sold by the lot to certain buyers, one a dealer well known to me. Other dealer friends of mine were flabbergasted at the low price paid for a large pile of items in the driveway. Plus, many premiere pieces went for absurd prices. In our opinion, this practice assures a steady customer base, if you are working for the buyer. We believe this is not what you want it you are hiring an agency to work on your behalf. Plus, questionable the way jewelry was processed: an unknown, unannounced woman pulled up to our house , asked to see the jewelry, did not consult with us, took pieces away for appraisal, and that was the last we saw of her. Later, at the sale, some scraggly pieces were arranged in a small area. No discussion of value. No discussion of pricing. No inventory sheet. Actually, red flags were flying everywhere, from the high pressure signing ( someone else wants that time frame, you need to sign now), to the jewelry lady, to the team of 'organizers' who descended quite unreliably ( said they would come one day, then didn't), coffee cups in hand. There was a certain cavalier attitude that assumed they knew pricing better than we. We thought there was little interest in conducting a fair sale that would net the highest dollar for the seller, but would appease their buyer clientele, which is who they appear to cater to. This is our opinion, as sellers. Many of their high ratings come from buyers. Something to consider if you are thinking of hiring an estate sale company hoping to get more than you would get if you managed on your own. Also we noted there was little concern about shoplifting, as only one or two workers were at the cash register and one in the garage, not the number of personnel they promised. (Some thieves target sales and antique shops to shoplift due to lack of inventory tracking, UPC codes, video surveillance). The process was traumatic. Our concern is for the vulnerable who face downsizing when a family member passes, and they are entrusted to handle the Estate. The key is to secure the assist of pros while maintaining a modicum of control. With us, a team arrived to set up the sale, an elderly 'expert' , seemed to be a relative of the owner, sat and looked through books, photographs and other memorabilia. For hours. After this team left, we considered terminating the contract but noted that if we terminated, each worker must each be paid $35 per hour. Certainly this discouraged terminating the contract: there were five to seven people at our house that day, all day. In the end, no cash register receipts, although a cash register was used. No list of itemized sales, even of larger pieces. No inventory, no checklist. No accounting, no accountability. Just a check. If you think that is how an estate sale should be run, that's fine. We thought otherwise, and have attended other estate sales that utilized receipt books as a means of accounting. Once again, this review reflects our personal experience as sellers. As professional antique dealers, we were shocked other dealers were able to secure such low prices, and in bulk. We believe this, as other companies, has a set of followers which ensures their sales are well-attended. Not uncommon. And of course, arranging estate sales is not easy, and estate sale experts do provide valuable info and realistic pricing in situations where value may be less objective. We would suggest that one spend time to interview. Conduct research, come to a valid conclusion after assessing things such as rate of pay if contract is terminated because one is not comfortable with the process. There is a lot of information online now to outline valid practices, and what one can reasonably expect from estate sale companies. This, in many cases, amounts to large dollar transactions. read more

There is no PROMOTIONAL content in this review. Zero integrity. Becky was hosting an estate sale in Kirkland that had some high value mid century modern items, and claimed she was trying to make attending this sale fair for everyone-- she was going to be posting the address of the sale on her website at 5am on the day of the sale-- so nobody could have a head start or camp out at the location-- which apparently she's had a problem with in the past. That said; with some crazy research and a little bit of luck, I still managed to figure out the address of the sale several days before, and stopped by 2 days early to scout the location for a couple reasons: the location was an hour away from where I live, and Becky said there would be no parking on-site and I didn't want to be wandering around in an unfamiliar, dark, industrial area all alone-- I mean-- a girl's gotta feel safe right?! After I called Becky and talked to her for over 30 minutes about the sale, I felt super comfortable and knew exactly what to expect. She said that for this specific sale, there would be NO OTHER LIST HONORED and they would be creating their own list for this sale at 5am. Becky also made super clear that she did not want anybody camping out, or arriving super early and for that reason she would not be confirming or posting the address online until 3 hours before the sale. In order to ensure I arrived on time, and maybe just a little early, I left my house at 3:30am. I also knew that if I could figure out the address that there was definitely a possibility a couple others may have figured it out as well. I just assumed that if that were the case-- Becky would draw numbers or something to make it fair for everybody. Additionally, I didn't want to make Becky angry by arriving super early (I would have arrived at 2am or earlier-- had I known there would be a list that would be honored). I arrived to the sale at around 4:30am-- just before the address would be released. What I wasn't expecting was the giant debacle that I encountered-- the address hadn't been "officially released," and there were already 15 people in line AND they had created their own list! The guy that was holding the list for the crowd asked if I would like to sign the list; but myself being so naive... said "well she said they wouldn't be honoring any lists we created, so it doesn't really matter." I signed it anyway (just in case). This is nuts! How could all these people have gotten the address?? How could I be 16th on the list?? Ok... it's no biggie-- right? After I'd spoken with Becky, I thought for sure that she'd do the right thing and draw numbers or something. Nope. Becky arrived at 5am straight up and that's when everything hit the fan. She immediately honored "the list" that the crowd had already created-- even though nobody was supposed to create one, camp out, or even have the address for that matter. She wouldn't accept the list that we'd all written down, so she ended up going name by name on the honor system and of course 2 more people cut in front of me. The sad thing is that in addition to my situation, apparently there were several people that were now even farther behind me that had been waiting since yesterday, but decided to go home and lose their "spot" because Becky told them to go home and that their list and line would not be honored. Anyway, Becky got really anxious about the situation and kept yelling that if people didn't calm down that she was going to do the fair thing and draw numbers or call the police. When I finally gave her my name and told her that I was #16, not 18-- (not that that was even fair either), some other patron started arguing with me and I had to show Becky my text history to prove that I was there when I said I was. I also calmly asserted to Becky that the fair thing to do would be draw numbers since we were all supposed to arrive at 5am and that she had told me the other day on the phone that lines and lists would not be honored; that's when she looked at me blankly and said "Well you're in the top 25, what do you care?!" All I can do is state the facts: ~ Becky made it clear that no lists or lines prior to 5am would be honored. ~ Becky said she would not release the address before 5am on the day of the sale--and by 4:59 am there were more than 25 people in line. ~ Becky knew the fair thing to do would be draw numbers, but lacked the integrity to do the right thing. In summary, I wouldn't waste your time or money trying to attend any of their "rigged" sales. This was just a huge waste of time, sleep and energy. Oh, and i forgot to mention-- I didn't end up even going into the sale. Being as how I was now #18, I was 100% certain that when I'd make it into the sale that everything I was interested in would have been sold anyway... that's how it goes when all the dealers are interested in the high end merchandise. A lottery was really, only the way to make it a fair opportunity for everyone. read more

I was little worried at first of doing an estate sale, but from the start to finish, the staff were professional, prompt and showed that they are very experienced in handling all aspects of the estate sale. The communication was great with the owner, Becky and Brian. After the sale was over, the clean-out service that they recommended did a great job. They've got the pricing thing down, know exactly how much your total will be (including sales tax, all done in their head), and can set things up to make it look appealing. Not to sound to cliche, but going to estate sales is 'like a box of chocolates, you'll never know what you're going to get." I've have a perfect attendance going to Girlfriends estates for almost two years now. They price their stuff modestly and usually have sales sometime the second day. They typically are very firm on their prices on both non-sales and sales day, but that's okay since you won't have to worry about getting into price battle. The staff is very helpful, especially Brian and Joe. It's rare that I do not buy a lot of things at their estate sales. If you're looking to add more decor to your home or buying something for resale, this company is worth taking a look at. read more

I used Girlfriends for a sale of my Godfather estate on November 1,2 and 3. He had a lot of vintage furniture that he had collected over the years. Although I live in Miami and the sale was in Seattle, the folks from Girlfriends were very accessible and helpful. They went the extra mile to sort and organized and keep me informed as to how the sale was going. They even added an extra day because of the amount of things that were there. They also hired a company to take away and clean the house of the things that were not sold. They distributed all they money with complete integrity. I highly recommend them. read more

I read the negative review posted ON 12/12/15 BY LANEY B. and felt that it was grossly unfair to Becky and Girlfriends Estate Sales. Exactly how was Becky supposed to keep people from conducting research and figuring out where the estate sale was going to be held? She couldn't keep YOU from doing that. How could she keep people from sleeping in their cars in the McDonald's parking lot next to the sale? How could she keep people from starting a preliminary list so that chaos would not ensue at about 4:55 a.m. among those who'd chosen to wait all night? And who would have been included in a lottery, anyway? Those who'd arrived before the address was posted at 5 a.m.? Or should it have included those who'd arrived before five, plus the people who arrived in the first five minutes? The first ten minutes? The first half hour? Laney B. was just angry that she had not thought to spend the night at the location she'd researched. Her expectations of the company were totally unrealistic. GES has only so much control over the masses, and we live in a free country. Blaming Becky because Laney B. was number 14 or so was not fair, and she should have stayed and entered even though she was not at the top of the list, because even if she didn't get what she wanted, she would have found something terrific. I was in that house for well over an hour, and I continued to find interesting items until the moment I got into the check-out line. I assure you, Laney B., that Becky did not give out the address to anyone ahead of time, even though you suggest that she did. Do you honestly think you were the only one smart enough to figure out where the sale was going to be held? I have been attending Girlfriends Estate sales for about 5 years now. I also attend estate sales operated by other companies in the Seattle area. Girlfriends is run by Becky, and her friendly crew. I am a dealer, and feel that Becky's prices have always been fair. There is nearly always room for me to re-sell and make a profit. And In the case where an item is priced higher than I would like...I know it is my choice to purchase it or pass if by. Becky is honest, fair, and incredibly ethical! I was at the estate sale that Laney B was so vocal about in her review. I too managed to discover the address in advance of the sale, and was certain that I could not have been the only one. (After all, I'm not a rocket scientist) I arrived at the location of the sale at 8am the day BEFORE the sale. I was going to "camp out" in an effort to be first in line when the address would be released at 5am the next day. However Becky asked me to go home, she didn't want "campers" hanging around because she wanted it to be as fair as possible to all attendees. I honored her wishes and went home. She later sent out an email explaining her position on the sale, asking people not to camp, and telling them that the address would be released at 5am and she would start an official list when the address was released. When I returned to the sale I discovered that several other people had indeed sleuthed the address. They had arrived and did not leave as Becky instructed. I don't blame Becky for this, she has no control over choices made by other people. Becky arrived at the sale a few minutes AFTER the address was released. She did NOT honor any list made by her the early arrivals whatsoever. In fact, NO LIST was ever presented to her. She simply parked her car, grabbed her "official" list, and began adding names to the list according to the arrival order that the small crowd indicated. There were a couple of people who were quite vocal and somewhat aggressive. They were shouting their names at Becky and pressing toward her. It was an uncomfortable situation and Becky dealt with it well. Shortly after that, a huge crowd accumulated, formed a line, and their names were added based on line order. Becky is SO FAIR, that I witnessed her refuse to add names to the list until she saw that person with her OWN EYES. She would say "they can't be on the list unless I can see them, it wouldn't be fair...are they HERE?" I was NOT first through the door as I had hoped but I still managed to purchase many of the items I was hoping for. It was a good sale, Girlfriends always is! I go to 3-4 estate sales each week and these are by far the best. Friendly, well organized and fair. And their pricing is reasonable as well. As for someone saying they cant get into their sale, if you want to be one of the first ones in then you need to get there early and put your name on the list usually posted at the door. But usually after about 30 minutes they just let everyone in. Then if you are third on the list you will be let in third - and you will know where you are. Don't give a bad review if you don't make sure you understand the process - just ask them how you can get in earlier. Its unfair to assume they aren't letting you in because they are letting their "friends" in. read more

This estate sale service is very deceptive in their advertising of items. At their recent sale, they advertised an "artist signed bronze" by a very noted artist. The pictures they posted were quite convincing that there was a possibility it could be authentic. After waiting for many hours and able to obtain the "bronze" figure of a lady, I found the piece to be a very recent polyresin copy of the original bronze! When I told them it was a polyresin copy and not a bronze they said, "It would have been worth a lot more if it was an original bronze" UGH!!! Girlfriends touts that they are CAGA Certified Appraisers! They need to go back and review what it means to be CAGA Ceritfied! This is posted right on their company website. The Certified Appraisers Guild of America confers the professional membership designation of CAGA to recognize the completion of the appraisers certification education. In addition, the members have made a commitment to the Certified Appraisers Guild's Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. Decent estate sale company. Staff is friendly enough and items are consistently organized. They do however (like many estate sale companies are starting to do) over price their items with the idea that everything will be 50% off the last day of the sale. Super annoying, I don't want to come back multiple times to a sale. This is an estate sale, not a retail store - prices should be reflected as such. Also, even though they are asking top dollar they are not willing to negotiate or offer group discounts until the last day. We verbally made an appointment; We left a Vmail the day before the appointment to confirm. We left a Vmail for them the day of the appointment "where are you". They failed to return any of our calls. And they failed to show for the appointment and for some reason decided to pull the ignorance cards and not even cancel the appointment. Is this a way to let a customer know they have no interest in a job? What a joke, call these folks a "well oiled machine"? Looking for estate sales assistance? Weather you have junk or priceless items; I strongly suggest you locate a company that at least has some level of communication skill if they wish to survive in a "service oriented" business in this economy. read more

I wouldn't bother with estate sales there are to many other options available. Once you can get past thewhole entry issues their sales go very well.
