I found the spot on Yelp and we headed over right after a trip to the DMV. We definitely deserved a treat after that. We ordered two sandwiches to split, the shredded beef and the original Cuban. They offer several variations of Cubans..., including one with mortadella that I am already planning to try next time. I will admit, in the review photos the sandwiches might not look pressed or buttered enough. Trust the process. The bread was perfection. I am very particular about grilled sandwiches being truly grilled and fully heated through, and these ladies know exactly what they are doing. The original Cuban was perfectly balanced and a rock solid classic. The shredded beef was - (Meat prep courtesy of Sarah) a delightful surprise, slightly sweet and savory and incredibly flavorful and texture. Just really, really good. We also got a bag of plantain chips, and I respect that those are the only chips they offer. No generic bagged Lays here. Plantain chips or nothin' - I like it!!! There is also a display case full of beautiful baked treats made by Rita. After sandwiches at that level, there was no way we were leaving without dessert. We took three to go: a meringue filled with dulce de leche, which was a total sleeper hit, a guava and cheese pastry, and a dulce Napoleon. Every bite felt special.
